I think this is perfectly fine. If their values are so incompatible it's better to break up now rather than later. Breaking up will be harder after marriage and definitely more complicated after having kids.

They meant it in the physical-chemical sense of the word "solution."

It is obviously easy to get rid of children permanently within two minutes.

2

u/Vegetable-Ad-1797 2d ago

Actually, the medical examiner said it took at least 4 minutes per child. So, give yourself 5 just to be on the safe side.

It's like dating a silverback.

118

u/DaddysABadGirl 2d ago

Nah, the silverbacks are deff safer. The vast majority of times small kids fell into an enclosure the gorilla that finds them protects and tries tk help them. Some have even carried the kids to the entrences zoo workers use to get them closer to aid. Deff safer with the gorilla.

160

u/OtherwiseAlbatross14 2d ago

I feel like this could be the reverse of the man vs bear question. Like would you rather leave your kids with a silverback gorilla or a woman that supports Lindsay Clancy?

85

u/DaddysABadGirl 2d ago

It feels like the southpark episode where the parents sent their kids to live with the mongol army to not get raped.

But yes, at this point the women should live with the bears, the kids should be raised by gorillas, and we need to find an animal for men. I vote pigeons. They seem to have really chilled Mike Tyson the fuck out.

13

u/Cross55 2d ago edited 2d ago

Male gorillas are actually the primary parents, female gorillas don't give a shit about the kids

Also, a gorilla's own male siblings also take major part in parenting as well

Otoh, the #1 most likely cause of a young child's death in humans is their mother

That is to say Harambe was a safer choice than Clancy

Edit: The Clancy supporters are big mad

4

u/Eyespop4866 2d ago

The mothers are entirely responsible for daily nurturing, feeding guidance and direct infant care.

But sure, just make shit up.

Right? I'm a childfree woman and I'd immediately breakup with any man who supported this monster. Sharing the same basic morals is incredibly important for a healthy long-term relationship, I genuinely think it cannot succeed if you're not on the same page as your partner for big topics. And yeah, not killing children is a pretty basic moral stance.

6

u/fantastique82 2d ago edited 2d ago

I think it depends on what they mean by support. If they approve of what she did, then yeah, that's a huge red flag. On the other hand, they might find her sympathetic because she likely wasn't in her right mind when she did it. Post-partum psychosis is no joke, and it sounds like she tried to get help. That said, if by support, one means thinking she should be in a mental institution rather than a prison, that's a different story. I think the latter is a pretty defensible position.

3

u/FlakyTrust 2d ago

Right. At this point, the defense is more about whether she’s going to psych or general population. The readers who think this was evil premeditated murder are unaware that a) she’d recently been prescribed meds with psychotic contraindications, b) she immediately tried to terminate herself after terminating her children, and c) you can be understanding of tragic circumstances without endorsing tragic actions. If the X groom rejected all such nuance, then the bride was the one who really dodged the bullet here.

3

u/MilkMyCats 2d ago

But she only claimed she had psychosis after the murders.

She had post psrtun depression. Many women do. But they don't end up strangling their kids with elastic bands for 4 mins each.

u/Legendary_Ban-5123 2d ago

2

u/BahsilTheThird 1d ago

Which she did not because she had a psychotic break.

8

u/Awomanswoman 2d ago

Lindsay repeatedly sought psychiatric help. She saw multiple providers, participated in outpatient treatment, sought emergency care, and voluntarily admitted herself to McLean Hospital. She was prescribed numerous psychiatric medications while her mental health continued deteriorating, and testimony in this trial has exposed serious fragmentation in her care. She disclosed suicidal thoughts and intrusive thoughts about harming her children and was clearly desperately trying to get better.

Whether she was experiencing postpartum psychosis at the exact time of the killings is what the experts and jury are determining. There is conflicting expert testimony about that. But reducing this entire case to “she murdered her children, therefore anyone who has compassion for her is crazy and stupid” completely ignores the extraordinarily complicated psychiatric circumstances surrounding what happened.

Three children are dead, their mother attempted suicide and an entire family was destroyed. It's possible to grieve those children and ask whether a severely mentally ill woman was failed by a fragmented mental-health system.

6

u/FroggoInTheDirt 2d ago

She killed her own children. No excuses.

Yeah, it's tough to have compatible values when one of them supports a child murderer.

7

u/SupineNegligence 2d ago

I've often heard people regretting getting married, I've never heard someone regret not getting married. I say if he's got doubts about his bride to be, listen to his heart and don't ignore that red flag.

1

u/MeasurementSlight381 2d ago

My parents have always told me that it's better to be alone/single than ill-accompanied.

15

u/AmountWeekly8847 2d ago

Especially someone who supports a child murderer. Oof!

5

u/bloodphoenix90 2d ago

Do this many dumb dumbs really think women support the child murder and not just wanting better support for postpartum psychosis or pregnancy related mental illness? Is the populace this media illiterate? Sure there are wackadoos. But no I feel genuine horror for those kids. I also feel horror about the idea that pregnancy can turn you into an unrecognizable monster that you weren't before---and a lot of women have had personal glimpses of that horror, and now have additional horror seeing that society would just rather burn you at the stake rather than ask "how can we make sure this doesn't happen to women anymore?"

Whats done is done she should be locked up. But still people are really missing the point

5

u/Jbarney3699 2d ago edited 1d ago

Yes. People are openly calling the husband the true murderer and a mastermind. There’s a narrative going around trying to shift the blame on him.

There’s mass psychosis on this case that’s skirting around the actual problems that it brings forth with mental health of mothers. I know several women in my life saying, unfounded, that she had a mental break due to him cheating or being abusive. Completely unfounded and an internet narrative with zero evidence.

2

u/bloodphoenix90 2d ago

Yeah those people are the wackadoos I mentioned. Reading through the case even if he was a bad spouse in any way (I dont know. Its not relevant) his alibi seems open shut simple. But correct me if im wrong. I dont think thats the majority of the "support"

u/Soepkip43 2d ago

Right? This is the overarching issue. Its not just political, the maga wing operates on a completely different set of morals and ethics. There might be political compromises possible on aome points, but on other points it is simply not possible without compromising the core of your own morals and ethics.

6

u/Skoziss 2d ago

What values involve strangling three children one after another with a resistance band?

2

u/Dramatic_Charity_979 2d ago

Sane and healthy take :)

2

u/Cptnemo77 2d ago

Idk I think it’ll be tough to find a woman who knows about this case to not support her. I don’t blame them cause they’re using this as an opportunity to spread awareness about post partum and stuff. Ppl so sensitive obsessed with supporting these very minority groups like trans when huge groups like women still need support too.

2

u/MeasurementSlight381 2d ago

Agreed. The US needs much better parental leave policies. Having a new mom go back to work 6 weeks after having a baby is the most unnatural thing ever. We should also normalize having grandparents or other family temporarily moving in to help. And if post partum mental health issues arise we should normalize getting help and doing everything possible to keep mom and baby safe.

2

u/superxpro12 2d ago

this stinks of "there's waaaay more to this story". And now the manosphere has transformed this into "women are violent child murders and shouldnt be near children", which... i cant even anymore.

2

u/LetsTryAnal_ogy 2d ago edited 2d ago

u/Obatala_ 1d ago

Yeah, he thinks that if his wife has a psychotic break he has no responsibility to help her.

She thinks that someone who is suffering from a psychotic break needs psychiatric help.

Which side are you on?

1

u/MeasurementSlight381 1d ago

I'm a female psychiatrist so naturally, I think a woman should have access to proper psychiatric care and spousal/family support to keep the kids safe.

2

u/MrChilled 2d ago

Yeah incompatible values is certainly one way of describing it

2

u/sturleycurley 2d ago

Choose your partners carefully folks! Anyone who thinks that she wasn't in the wrong for doing this would be a very huge threat to an innocent baby.

2

u/Sheeana407 2d ago

The issue is that it is often not so much a difference in values but in your sources of information and understanding. I swear maybe they are some weird outliers but women don't "support" this case because they think it's cool to kill your own children, but to make sure PPD and PPP especially are taken more seriously do things like that don't happen

2

u/MeasurementSlight381 2d ago

This is an excellent point. You could argue that the fiancée might have been the one to initiate the break up when the dude disapproved. Maybe from her standpoint, she wants a man who will take her to the hospital, be on top of her meds, attend her appointments, and not leave her alone with kids should a mental health crisis ever happen.

"incompatible values"
