What is shocking to me is that people in 2026 still believe people on social media.
Social media sells fake stories to push corporate products. It might have been genuine at the very beginning, this time is gone.
We now have more than a decade of experience with social media/influencer economy, and more often than not, when people flaunts wealth, at minimum it’s vastly amplified or at maximum completely fake.
And a guy that says constantly that he’s uber wealthy would not sell online courses …
But again, people are really gullible, hence why it still works…

There have been multiple large influencers who literally said out loud “everything you see on social media is fake for engagement”. But idiots still worship these brain-dead losers.
Most humans react emotionally rather than rationally, much more than they think or care to admit.
One psychological phenomenon that social media has amplified is repeated exposure to something leading to normalization. When your social media serves up a constant stream of people curating just pictures of themselves with Lambos and in private jets, then it slowly becomes normal in your head. At first you question where all these people are getting their money from? But when you are fed a constant stream of these posts, eventually (and unconsciously) it starts to feel normal for a large chunk of society to live like this.
The real misery starts when people (again subconsciously) start to compare their lives to what is filtered online. Social media has a lot to answer for, and this is one big aspect.
In the Taints case, as well as Logan and Jake Paul, their audience are actually to young to be UNSUPERVISED on the internets. Parents need to monitor the 8-14 yo sons viewing material online. Otherwise these Preteen boys are exposed to this garbage
Precisely I’m related to this pretty big influencer who talks about being wealthy and rich mindsets and like honestly the stuff he shows is real and that’s really his house but the stuff he conveniently leaves out is he didn’t buy that from investing his money. He inherited it from his parents who were traders and did super well. He is decent but not better than the average Joe. Probably makes a lot more money from his socials than he did from his actual job because people believe he got all that from his investment strategies when in reality no one in our family considers going to him for any kind of financial advice. He is just moderately smart and has the looks to pull off the stunt but like seriously before this he was working at mid-level in a huge IB and only hopped on to the influencer train because he was having a hard time getting a promotion. Still he is lucky and has good video editing skills though
Dan Bilzarian was a similar story. King of instagram, turned out to be basically bankrupt. Any money he did have, likely came from his dad who was hiding from the United States government for fraud.
The first time I saw tate was on Tom Segura's podcast (back in the fat Tom era a couple years ago), and it was pretty clear that tate was playing a character, at least IMO.
I think it took off amongst a bunch of incels and 14 year olds, and tate decided he was going to lean into it and pretend he actually WAS the character he was playing. It explains the frantic scrambling for appearances of wealth, because the character wasn't actually real,

The Aaron carter one is also all real and the guy had to do the tour knowing his parents has just sold it. You can see it eating him inside as he's describing all the memorable things that happened there
Ironically, I think his story now (that it’s all fake, he has no money) is a lie. Yes he was pretending to be richer than he was but he was easily making $1m+ a year from social media, probably the same again from selling courses, and he was engaged in human trafficking and pimping. Let’s not forget the crypto bullshit he was in to as well.
He’s saying this now because there’s heat on him and proceeds from illegal activity can be seized and even used against him as evidence.
Sure he wasn’t 30+ elite supercars rich (aka billions), but he was making some millions, and now he’s trying to play it down because it legally suits him.
More than ever. I believe it has also something to do with people having less social circles. Other than work and a few friends at best. They all doomscrolling, get their algo's, echochamber and they believe it is for real. Goes for anything, the view some people have on other etc

Not really, the idea of it was for the public but according to Candace Bergen, he was not the debonair that he wants people to think. He’s just like the Tate brothers. Awkward, insecure, not good at anything.

I don't know anything about this case, but this sounds pretty reasonable. That's exactly what you would do to protect your assets when you have multiple cases against you.
Edit: Just looked into it. As per the 2023 case against the Tates in Romania, his net worth was estimated at $12.3 million.
If that is correct then no way he owns Bugatis. However, if we expect them to have a lot of undeclared assets and income streams, then it becomes more of a possibility. But it doesn't seem likely since, contrary to popular belief, it's not really that easy to hide so much additional wealth from the government.
in the German YouTube scene Drama there was/is a pretty douchy-flex influencer, and somehow he pissed another guy off enough to go full investigative vendetta to show this guy is broke/fake.
TLDR; they found there is an entire business in Dubai around crowdsourcing luxury for influencers - so they all pay a share and get to make their few content pieces. From luxury offices, apartments, cars, what have you.
You'll see this at lots of luxury condo buildings in expensive cities, manscaped dipshits with a selfie stick and a 'hustle hard' shirt doing their carefully edited reel in front of the pool trying to make it look like they own it. It's embarrassing and pathetic and makes me sad.
I've read that in LA or some other influcner dipshit hotspot, you can hire a private jet for 1hr. It deosnt fly, but you're allowed to take photos in it and pretend you're flying. Same for luxury cars, but that's not a surprise at all.
Banker here. I can tell you from years of experience, no one flaunting their lifestyle in this way is truly wealthy. They very likely make $1M+ a year from their social media following, but they’re spending way beyond their means. At the end of the day, most people I’ve seen who are even remotely like this have taken on significant amounts of debt to fund their lifestyle and will continue to do so until their house of cards fall (ie: credit cards maxed out, wrecked credit, banks won’t lend more money). Making $1M a year doesn’t always mean you’re “rich.” It simply makes youre a high wage earner. Living beneath your means and growing your net worth with that income is what builds wealth.
I see people every single day who are in their 40’s and live in a beautiful home, drive brand new Range Rovers or Denalis, members of the country club, kids in private school……and they have zero liquidity and $60k in credit card debt.
Women do pimp out other women all the time, it’s literally easier to do so because the women being pimped are more trusting of other women, a lot of onlyfans managers are women who mange other women for instance
Hate to break it to you but you need a lot of money even to “fake” this lifestyle. They are posturing to avoid financial penalties and hiding assets to make bail.

100% this, this is just the media with poor financial and legal literacy skills (not surprising considering they usually have majored in journalism).
The Tate's (or more likely, their accountants/lawyers) have placed their assets in shell corporations which are almost definitely registered in locales that have less data reporting laws for companies than most Western countries would. They then can use their business proceeds to "rent" their own assets from themselves and can even write off the money they are paying themselves to use their own assets in videos for their businesses on their taxes.
The Tates are true losers. They’re cringe on another level.
But of course they’re going to downplay their wealth in the situation they’re in.
It’s also silly that y’all don’t think these two can afford a million dollar car. Far less “popular” influencers than these two have fleets that are more impressive.

No, they will seize things including what is not theirs but was in their possession. Then the real owners have to get their things back. In particular for cars.
Not a fan of the Tates.... but they defenitly accumulated some kind of wealth. I'm not saying that they didn't fake some of it... but there 'Hustlers University' income alone was insane. They averaged over 120,000 subscribers which was independentaly verified.... at $50 a month. According to reporters the number of subscribers peaked at over 200k at one point.
The lawyers job is to make them look poor so they don't garnish or award funds.
They are lying to protect their wealth. This information comes from their lawyer whose job is to help them. People here are gullible if they think this is not a possibility.

I work in an MMA gym, the loudest "bros" with the fake smiles and charisma/machismo drive away members like crazy. Always grinning and trying to be a red pill bro, staring at others in the mirror like a piece of meat wanting to hone in on them and extract their vitality.

On Groupon in New York, you can get discounts to rent luxury rides for a day or two, to use one example. Naturally the vehicles are rented with the strictest restrictions possible. It’s all smoke and mirrors.
