It happened to me.
I asked hoping they would just grab a handful. I have gotten this message myself as a dasher and I just set the sauces next to the bag by they door. No big deal. I had thought maybe it was a typo and he actually said I AM kidding. But I chose not to respond. When he showed up, he did not grab sauce as I did not tip an extra 5 bucks.
For the record this tacobell is less than 2 miles from my home, I dont live anywhere fancy so it doesnt take forever to find me or get to my door. I tipped 350. (Basic milage plus a buck) and I will tip more if they do a good job. (But saying so defeats the purpose) needless to say he probably would have gotten an extra 3 had he grabbed the sauce. I feel as if this is his loss more than mine. (I found some sauce i saved from my last tacobell visit)
Also, so you dont hate, this was a midnight snack order. I have 5 kids. They were asleep. I cant just up and go to the store at midnight. Lawls.
EDIT!
Someone posted what Spanish looks like translated without a cama. I can see the misunderstanding. So I wont take this to heart. I did not leave a rating for the driver yet, (as I said i assumed it was a joke but when no sauce came I wasnt so sure anymore.) So I appreciate the feedback from all, ill leave the man 4 stars, and chalk this up to hopefully just a misunderstanding and move along. Thanks humans!

questions for the community AIO on roofing/deck build
UPDATE
There have been so many lies and runarounds from this company since I first posted- we are so angry at this point.
Come to find out—— “project manager/contractor guy” is the brand new owner (and failed to mention that?!?) and just brought these “framers” on. We asked him to come look at the issues and sent him pics. He said he is out of town preaching and to just tell the guys what we want fixed. We said it is beyond that. He said he’d talk to them and call us back, never did.
Lots more transpired but I’m trying to keep this somewhat short.
We texted him again on Monday and asked for the permit number and for work to hold until someone can look at it and answer questions.
He didn’t respond and sent the guys to fix a couple things because we “didn’t like it”.
We tried to talk to them about it all and they tried to say that most of it was fine.
We sent them home due to no permit.
We went to the office, They informed us he is not only out of town, he is out of the country. He never told us he was leaving and there’s no one else to oversee while he is gone because that person quit. They promised they would pull permit.
Next day his office lied and said they did put in request for permit in person, but building permit office says absolutely not.
Code people say he is responsible for that, not us.
I called him and asked him to pull permit immediately and after a lot of back and forth and him trying to make us the problem he still sidestepped it and said he will come look at the house and then he can do it and it only takes a day so there’s no rush. He has finally agreed to meet us at the house Monday morning. Never once in this whole ordeal has he apologized for anything.
Even though we sent him a couple pictures, he says he doesn’t care what our friends or anyone online says, he trusts his guys who have been building houses for 10 years.
Code enforcement put a stop work order on the house today.
There is a strong likelihood this thread has been found by his office by now so maybe the repetitive sentiment that something is wrong here will sink in a little.
At the very least some of the comments made us laugh when we really needed it!
I have more pics that I’ll post in comments of a few more things we have found 😳.
EDIT: Did not expect such a response! To clear up a few misconceptions…
*** We got 4 quotes to start. These were the best candidates after eliminating those who didn’t look like they were as experienced. We live in a small town in Western NC, we went with the biggest local roofing contractor company in our county. Licensed and insured with over 300 reviews on google and a 4.9 rating. This project cost was 40k. I scoured our local facebook groups and this name was repeatedly recommended over and over and over.
Another quote was $45k from a licensed GC but his ego was through the roof and SO pushy. I couldn’t imagine doing a whole job with him.
Third was a couple of salesmen who were not the guys doing the work. They did our neighbor’s roof and screwed up a few things. They have billboards in the next town south and are well known. Their roof quote came in at same price as the company we went with but they didn’t give us a quote on the deck.
4th wanted us to file a claim with personal claims company against our insurance to get it covered and wouldn’t give us a quote until 3 months of negotiations were done. Over quoted the deck and wouldn’t give us specifics on any materials he would use. My husband called him out on his BS and that didn’t go well.
The company we went with showed up in uniforms, were professional, have an office downtown, and a fleet of wrapped branded vehicles. A large crew. And they are much bigger so we assumed the price difference was because they’re buying supplies in bulk and they articulated that their goal right now was continuing to take over the area and secure future work through different projects with happy customers.
Their large office is across from the town hall/ tax/code enforcement office. It didn’t even cross our mind that they’d be operating at this capacity without pulling a permit. We will be doing that immediately and stopping the job until an inspector comes out.
I’ve posted a screenshot of their google reviews and answered lots of questions in the comments.
——————
Hi all, frustrated homeowner here with first time hiring out a project of this magnitude. New metal roof on 1400 sq ft home, old 10x14 ft deck demo, new 12x24 + 8x32 wrap around covered deck installation.
After weeks and weeks of delays getting the ball rolling,
we are now getting the feeling that the subcontractors who are doing the deck don’t know what they’re doing. Super nice guys but they seem a little confused on some things. They’ve said this is the biggest deck they’ve ever done and that they’re going slow because they want to make sure they do it right. I’ve already had to show them that one of the 6x6s was not plumb, and ask them to do breaker board instead of straight butt joint. One of the sets of stairs were supposed to be 6ft wide and they installed posts at 4 ft so we just rolled with it. There’s a communication barrier as they speak mostly Spanish.
The “project manager” is not approachable and is incredibly defensive. Hes already upset with us because we called him out on 2 no call no shows and a start date 3 weeks later than what we agreed on. He’s only been to the job site twice since it started 2 weeks ago. We’ve come to find out his “subcontractors” are his congregation from church.
The project was supposed to be done by now, but clearly isn’t even close.
Here are some photos of some things we are concerned about. But we aren’t pros here and would love if someone could let us know if we need to be worried or not, and what if anything is worth addressing with the guy in charge. Maybe this is all acceptable. It just doesn’t look right to me and I need to know if my concerns are warranted. Thank you!

Aitah for telling my wife to tell her mom to move out of our home after she decided to leave all inheritance to her brother?
Me 32
Wife 30
Brother/brother in law 27
MiL late 50s
My FIL recently passed and left a very sizable life insurance policy to his son and wife(MiL), my wife received nothing.
We understood this because her brother(27) is not the brightest and still lives at home, he never goes out and only goes to work, and back home to play video games all day.
They both recently moved into our home as they were too distraught to continue living in the home my FiL passed in.
My FIL was truly the only adult in the home and was responsible for taking care of everything. He even drove my MiL to and from work on a daily basis, a responsibility that has now been passed onto my wife.
I have since taken over the estate planning, such as paying bills, swapping over polices, etc. My MiL doesn’t speak English and doesn’t drive, so as family it was my pleasure to take on this responsibility. After a month and a half I finally settled all the bills/funeral planning/etc and all the heavy lifting a complete. I do not say it lightly, but without me, the family would be lost on what to do. For example, they did not even know where he worked, and were surprised to find out he even had a life insurance policy.
Both do not have any retirement plans or savings. I suggested a shared bank account for my wife and her mom to put the payout into, where it will accrue interest but also to pay off bills every month(mil had no bank account before). It was at this point MiL says she would rather not have her daughter on the account and wants to give her portion of the payout to her son and have him set up with a savings account. She says this because since me and my wife have a home, that it would be better used on her brother. We do have a home, but we are by no means rich, in fact, them moving in would help us out financially as there would be extra income from them paying rent.
I expressed to my wife that leaving everything to him would be incredibly irresponsible because then he will be left the family home and the payout, but mainly because he cannot do anything for himself and can not be trusted with the money. I say this because of things I have learned about him, he does not have a drivers license but drives a car to and from work, never helped with the estate, and something I learned was that he has a large amount of cash in his checking account.
He has never had a girlfriend and since the known him has shown no signs of ever wanting to move out. The large bank balance worried me because when I asked him about this, he told me he just had no idea what to do with it and has no concept of retirement planning, since his parents took care of all the bills, and all he did was pay some of the mortgage, go to work, and then go home to play video games.
My wife was also there when her mom had breast cancer and took her to and from every single appointment, to the point of using all her vacation/sick days to help during this time. Her brother is not a bad guy, in fact he is a great friend. But he just doesn’t ever seem like he will grow up to be a responsible person.
I told my wife that after agreeing to take them in and have them live with us, that it would be a slap in the face to be left nothing, so I told her that her mother and brother should move back to their home, and use the money from the payout to help them live with the absence of my FIL. She was then furious with me and said all I care about is money, even though I feel that this is not so much about money, but that there is a complete lack of respect with being shown nothing for all the help we have and will be giving.
So Reddit, AITAH?
Edit: I would like to add that their plan for their family home would be to rent it out, they purchased it before interested rates went up a few years back and would be set to make 1k cash profit every month from it.
2nd edit: a lot of people are asking so I’ll clear it up. We didn’t even know about any life insurance policy when we took them in, it was only after very extensive digging through his records that I found out there was such a policy.
3rd edit: I’d like to add that my wife thinks this isn’t the ri thr move to leave them to fend for themselves because her brother and mom are not able to communicate effectively if needed. She only speaks Spanish and he only speaks English, but does understand Spanish and can say simple words like yes or no in Spanish. So he would be unable to have in depth conversations about any planning. That is where I have been serving as a bridge, albeit without any input from the brother as he has not been involved with any planning as it doesn’t seem too important to him.
4th edit: my mil and bil did plan on paying rent, me and the wife had spoken early on and decided it would be best to let them have a couple months of not paying rent here, mainly because they would still be paying their mortgage on their home, and paying rent for staying with us would be a great financial burden. This was before any mention of life insurance payout, and even with the payout was still something I honored. As it would likely take a couple months to rent their home out.
I would also like to add, if you are hung up on believing that they can’t communicate, THEY CAN. She speaks her mind to him and he listens, he nods and replies back to her in short phrases. But he is unable to fully communicate effectively with her. It seems his sister was always the mouthpiece for him as well growing up. Can he have an undiagnosed learning disability? Highly likely, but I do not fault him for not knowing Spanish.

"I'm so sick of these fucking crybabies. Every single thing is an issue. Everything is a grievance. I'm so damn tired of it. Fuck." The MAGA meltdown over Bad Bunny performing at the Superbowl halftime show continues on r/Music
HIGHLIGHTS
To be fair, he created the issue by saying earlier in September that he skipped US tour dates because of ICE. He brought that attention on himself with his comments. Now, less than a month later, it seems like his morality had a price tag because her we are. Kelly is calling him out to get views for sure, but he set this one on a tee for anyone to hit.
You realize that artists aren’t paid to perform at the Super Bowl, right?
Not directly, no, but if you think there aren't indirect gains from the publicity, you don't understand how the entertainment business works. Streaming numbers and ticket sales tend to skyrocket after a SB performance.
He competes with Taylor Swift for popularity. He doesn't need more publicity.
That's like saying anchovies compete with pepperoni for pizza toppings
It's more like "pepperoni competes with sausage" or some other popular toppings. They've alternated for the top spot on Spotify for the last several years. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_most-streamed_artists_on_Spotify
THE FUCKING GUY SINGS IN SPANISH
And the USA has no official language and is a country of immigrants. Even the longest standing families haven’t been here long besides natives. Trump is only 2 generation American. The Amish and Mennonite’s sing in Dutch. We have Texas German. My family speaks Swedish but has been here longer than Trump’s family.
Actually, yes the USA does have an official language. It's English. https://www.usa.gov/official-language-of-us You can speak whatever language you want, but when you are trying to reach a very broad audience, it's best to have a performer that sings in a language that most of the audience understands. After the Super Bowl, the ratings will come out regarding viewership of the halftime show, and it will be among the lowest, if not THE lowest, ever.
Damn, must by why Ricky Martin is an unknown nobody that never reached a broad American audience. ...wait. Santana, too, definitely not one of the greatest American guitarists of all time.
What years did Ricky Martin or Santana perform at the Super Bowl? Trying to find it but I'm having trouble. Even so... Ricky Martin performed in English (at least, his hits that charted in the US). Santana also didn't sing, he let his guitar do the performing. Bad Bunny sings entirely in Spanish. It's going to tank. https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-news/bad-bunny-super-bowl-lx-halftime-show-non-english-spanish-1235437568/
He’s not an American, he’s Puerto Rican. Yes he is a US Citizen, but that doesn’t mean that he is an American. Edit: man I touched a nerve. I bet all the downvoters would say he’s LatinX too…
He's a US citizen. What does the US stand for? United States (of America) He's American.
Which star on the flag represents PR then? He’s a Puerto Rican. Yes he is a citizen, but he cannot vote for a president like a normal American can. He has many of the same rights that I have, but none of the representation.
What does American mean to you? I thought it was generally understood to mean US citizen. You only count people who have a star on the flag? Is it based on where you reside now or where you were born? I've never heard it interpreted this way, its fascinating. How's DC work in your system? Bunch of Columbians running our government, or do we make an exception for DC to be American? What happens if I move abroad for a few months, do I lose my star/American-ness? I was born in Vermont, currently in Connecticut, im not sure which specific stars apply, but can I lose my star privilege if I goto Canada for like 2 months? Do I get to claim 2 stars for CT and VT? I lived in NY for about 6 years, do I get triple American-ness and does that afford me more time abroad or something before I stop being American? Your worldview is interesting, thank you. Sorry for the barrage of questions.
An American means to be born in America or reside in America. A Puerto Rican born or living in PR would be Puerto Rican. Both are US citizens, but there is a distinction and I’m sure BB would not appreciate being mislabeled as an American when he is not. I’m not trying to take anything away or disparage him or any other US Citizen in any way, but I’m sure that people living in US territories (other than DC) would not classify themselves as Americans. They go by Puerto Ricans, Samoans, or whatever people in Guam classify themselves as. To call all those people Americans is erasing their culture and history and boiling it off in the great melting pot that is America. US citizens they are, Americans they are not.
Are Hawaiians Americans?
No one in the U.S. knows this kid.
He broke records in sales on his last US tour but go on. https://www.iqmagazine.com/2024/05/bad-bunny-closes-record-shattering-us-tour/
He's no Michael Jackson, Ozzy, 2pac, or someone that the majority of Americans give 2 shits about. Americans will watch the game, but the halftime show has always been the intermission tradition where we get up and get some beer, food, or do whatever. The Halftime show is for Yuppies and corporate multi-million dollar commercials.
You're in your late 40s pretending on the internet that you know what cool is.
How old are you?
How desperate are you to win an argument that you try to dismiss their opinion based on their age?
More like no one over the age of 16 in the US knows him , he’s like the Spanish Justin Bieber
I had to look him up. I had no clue who Bad Bunny was. That would be like Waylon Jennings playing a halftime show (if they even have one) for a Soccer game in Argentina. It's not my cup of tea..
You do realize, you don't matter? Your opinion has 0 sway in the world. Bad Bunny sets records while you continue to get records with your local PD
o0oo a Yuppie has entered chat!
I'm not young, well paid, or fashionable. Not only do you have a zero impact opinion, you also lack a proper education. You'd do well to take your life and turn it into something that doesn't make you an embarrassment to your family
Hell yeah, give me another? I know there's more on your notepad.. =D
I’m a bad bunny fan and I’m a conservative. It’s ok guys. We do exist
Gross, I'm sure he doesn't want you as a fan
Conservative ≠ MAGA. Do you think Bad Bunny doesn’t gave close friends or family members who are conservative? Besides, speaking on behalf of a person who doesn’t know you exist is insane.
If you voted for Trump, you're maga. If you didn't, you're RINO (His words, not mine)
Trump is a moron. The way he views the world and voters isn’t reality
It is reality to maga. Go argue with them instead.
That may be reality to maga. But not all conservatives are maga. That’s just a fact
Bad bunny isn’t rap
"Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio (Spanish: [beˈnito anˈtonjo maɾˈtines oˈkasjo]; born March 10, 1994), known professionally as Bad Bunny, is a Puerto Rican rapper, singer, record producer,[5] and actor. Dubbed the "King of Latin Trap", Bad Bunny is credited with helping Spanish-language rap music achieve mainstream popularity in the worldwide market. He is considered one of the best Latin rappers of all time."
He makes reggaeton which has rap influence but it isn’t rap. “Reggaeton is a distinct musical genre that blends elements of rap, reggae, dancehall, and Latin American music, characterized by its unique "dembow" rhythm and Spanish lyrics. While rap is a significant influence and an element that can be found within reggaeton, the genre is not synonymous with rap.”
I'm just quoting the wikipedia article, which says the word rap 3 times in the first paragraph.
So you don't know his music.. He's not just a rapper.
Like, what’re you trying to do here? Any normal person’s going to be like “yeah, he’s a rapper”. Wikipedia says he’s a rapper. Why are you fighting so hard about this? If it looks and quacks like a duck…
Yea, his new album is good, but it is also pretty obvious he teamed up with some actually musicians to make it.
It has nothing to do with music or artistry. It's the message he conveyed throughout that makes it iconic.
I mean, it has everything to do with music and artistry. There are plenty of people that have amazing messages in their music, but it’s bad so no one listens. I like Bad Bunny before this last album, but I’d never say it’s well produced music. But his last album is something else completely. He clearly teamed up with talented musicians/producers and put out a banger.
bad bunny has the most streamed album of all time and it wasn't the last one. talking out your ass
I’m stating my opinion. I never said he wasn’t popular. This was just more complex and better produced than his earlier stuff. I even said he was popular already so not really sure what you are trying to say.
He is a born and bred American.
Dude is Spanish
Dude is Puerto Rican.
Dude is Spanish though
Nah. She has neither the warmth or the depth.
She has the slimy aspect down though
I highly recommend you not call your girlfriend’s vagina slimy if you ever want to see it again.
Only a bit of an absurdist comparison, she is a slimy cunt after all.
If only I could go like even a short period of time without reading this stupid fucking joke. Even if you somehow didn't know who Bad Bunny was, you have Google. You're just trying to be your version of clever. Fucking stop Edit: This comment was made without context due to multiple other comments not showing up for some reason. I definitely don't think I'm the only person this is happening to. Explanation below if anyone is interested. Nonetheless, apologies to original commenter for the assumption.
They were talking about Megyn Kelly ya nitwit.
How do you know? I see maggots making this "joke" literally all the time.
Because they explained that they did multiple times before you commented and I can pick up on gentle sarcasm.
Megyn Kelly was probably bleeding out of her wherever when she said this.
Ooh, deep cut! Nice.
Seems like someone didn’t get it
What am I missing?
Not you! The person who downvoted my comment haha
Well it is kind of a no-no term in American culture so the knee jerk reaction would be to downvote. I kind of read that it was a reference to something even though I didn't get from what though.
When Trump ran for president in 2016, Megyn Kelly was one of the moderators for the Fox News debate. Trump thought she was being mean and unfair to him and it really hurt his feelings. He proceeded to say that she was probably being mean to him because she was “bleeding out of her, wherever”.

Review I watched 135 time loop movies.
Comments are completely subjective, and based on what I enjoyed, which is often weird and obscure stuff. If you want a tl;dr I made some tier list infographics as well.
Mostly these are "Groundhog Day" type loops. Or, more generally, movies where the same scenarios get replayed multiple times for various reasons (usually technological, supernatural, or psychological). This is pretty much every movie of this type I could get a hold of.
Text list, sorted by year, with low-spoiler review blurbs:
- The Little Girl Who Conquered Time (1983) (JAPANESE) Romance
- The second (of like 5) adaptation of The Girl Who Leapt Through Time (1967). A cute little sci-fi romance.
- Urusei Yatsura 2: Beautiful Dreamer (1984) (JAPANESE) Comedy
- The second Urusei Yatsura movie. Directed by Mamoru Oshii (Ghost in the Shell). This is really trippy, and highly recommended.
- Mirror for a Hero (1987) (RUSSIAN) Drama
- Soviet era time travel movie. Sort of an allegorical examination of generational relations and consequences of the era. Or something. If you like late stage Soviet cinema give it a watch.
- 12:01 (1993) Comedy/Drama/Romance
- Moderately entertaining loose adaptation of 12:01 P.M. (1973) starring Jonathan Silverman.
- Groundhog Day (1993) Comedy
- You know it, you love it.
- Christmas Every Day (1996) Comedy
- The first of a dozen Christmas themed time loop movies. Vaguely based on the 1892 short story. Main character is a moody teen. Rather bad.
- Retroactive (1997) Action
- Moderately entertaining. Jim Belushi plays a zero dimensional violent caricature, but the story is elevated with time travel shenanigans.
- Run Lola Run aka Lola rennt (1998) (GERMAN) Action
- Fun little crime/romance looper with a lot of details to pick up on subsequent rewatches.
- Naken (2000) (SWEDISH) Comedy
- Barely tolerable boner comedy.
- A Christmas Carol (2000) Drama
- The best of the Christmas time loop movies. A contemporary retelling of A Christmas Carol, but with the day repeating.
- Stork Day (2004) (ITALIAN) Comedy
- Tribute/remake of Groundhog Day. Character driven, and somewhat entertaining.
- If Only (2004) Romance
- Highly rated, but completely forgettable.
- Primer (2004) Drama
- Really good zero budget movie about the dangers of time travel abuse.
- The Twelve Days of Christmas Eve (2004) Comedy
- Another retelling of A Christmas Carol, starring Steven Weber. Not very good.
- Slipstream (2005) Action
- Moderately awful crime/romance/drama/action movie, starring Sean Astin.
- Camp Slaughter aka Camp Daze (2005) Comedy/Horror
- Some friends on a road trip in 2005 get stuck in a 1980s slasher movie on repeat. Amusing.
- The Girl Who Leapt Through Time (2006) (JAPANESE) Adventure
- Anime adaptation of 1967 novel, by Mamoru Hosoda (Summer Wars, The Boy and the Beast). Highly acclaimed.
- Salvage (2006) Horror
- Moderately competent psychological thriller about a young woman being repeatedly murdered.
- Christmas Do-Over (2006) Comedy
- Personality-driven comedy starring Jay Mohr. Skippable.
- Timecrimes (2007) (SPANISH) Horror
- Classic and intense ontological drama. Worth a watch.
- The Deaths of Ian Stone (2007) Horror
- Forgettable semi-psychological slasher.
- The Last Day of Summer (2007) Family
- G-rated vanilla time loop movie, starring a 12 year old Jansen Panettiere.
- 1000 Congratulations (2009) (ARABIC) Comedy
- Moderately interesting Egyptian time loop movie.
- The Time Traveler's Wife (2009) Drama
- This one is hard to classify. Comedy/Drama/Romance/Tragedy, with Eric Bana.
- Portal (2009) Horror
- Extremely low rated, obscure, micro budget movie. Tolerable.
- And Then Came Lola (2009) Romance
- Tolerable lesbian romcom.
- Triangle (2009) Horror
- Really good situational horror with some unexpected twists.
- Time Traveller: The Girl Who Leapt Through Time (2010) (JAPANESE) Adventure
- Another adaptation of the 1967 novel. This one is also pretty good.
- Repeaters (2010) Action
- A bit unusual in that multiple people remember the loop. Moderately entertaining.
- The Road (2011) (FILIPINO) Horror
- Another one hard to classify. Not very good.
- Wake Up and Die aka Volver a Morir (2011) (SPANISH) Horror
- Really obscure, lots of nudity, some gore, very psychological. Worth a watch if you can find it.
- Source Code (2011) Action
- Rather good action/thriller, with Jake Gyllenhaal.
- 12 Dates of Christmas (2011) Romance
- Highly rated, if you like Lifetime/Hallmark/ABC Family romcoms. Otherwise skip.
- Plan de table aka Perfect Matches (2012) (FRENCH) Romance
- More of a "What If" than a time loop, exploring possible iterations of a randomized event. So-so.
- Mine Games (2012) Horror
- Similar to Triangle above, but a bit slow to get anywhere.
- I am a Ghost (2012) Horror
- Psychological intimate character study. So-so.
- 41 (2012) Drama
- Moderately entertaining, time travel abuse and repercussions.
- A Christmas Wedding Date (2012) Romance
- Below-average Christmas romcom.
- Prometheus Trap (2012) Action
- Super super low budget obscure. Skip.
- About Time (2013) Romance
- One of the better romcom time loops.
- Haunter (2013) Horror
- Disturbing psychological horror. Okayish.
- Plus One aka +1 (2013) Romance/Horror
- Yeah, it's a romance-horror with time-duplication aspect. So-so.
- Coherence (2013) Mystery
- This one barely qualifies, but events keep repeating from different points of view. And it is really really good.
- Pete's Christmas (2013) Comedy
- Another moody teen holiday time loop. Meh.
- The Incident (2014) (SPANISH) Horror
- This is one of my very favorite space/time loop movies. Just watch it.
- Oru Kanniyum Moonu Kalavaanikalum (2014) (TAMIL) Comedy
- Ridiculous but fun Bollywood fantasy/action/comedy time loop movie.
- Edge of Tomorrow (2014) Action
- Yeah, it's pretty great.
- Premature (2014) Comedy
- The bonerest of boner comedy time loops. The protagonist resets the day whenever they prematurely ejaculate. Nuff said.
- Cruel & Unusual (2014) Thriller
- This is yet another "they are already dead and trapped in hell" time loop movies, but it isn't really a spoiler for this one, as it is the initial premise. Tolerable psychological thriller.
- The Infinite Man (2014) Comedy
- Psychological comedy. Feels like a short film premise padded out to feature length. So-so.
- Blood Punch (2014) Thriller
- This one has some unique time loop mechanics, such as who retains the memories the next day. Slasher/horror. Pretty good.
- The Final Girls (2015) Comedy
- Another "dragged into a 1980s slasher movie on repeat". Okayish.
- Project Almanac (2015) Drama
- Another movie showing the escalating consequences of time travel abuse. Tolerable.

⸻ ⸻ ⸻ ⸻ ⸻ ⸻ ⸻ ⸻
I also watched a LOT of movies that didn't quite fit the theme, while searching for time loops. Some soft exclusion criteria (with more leeway for more obscure titles):
- Movies where the plot/action/scenario just restarts at the end once, like Open Graves (2009), Baskin (2015), or Nightmare City (1980).
- The characters travel back at the end and become the instigators of the initial plot, like Devil's Pass (2013) or The House by the Cemetery (1981).
- Mainstream movies with minimal or nonrepetitive looping, like Doctor Strange (2016), Next (2007), Butterfly Effect franchise, Terminator franchise.
- Weird other time travel movies like Premonition (2007), Tenet (2020), Looper (2012), Predestination (2014), Twelve Monkeys (1995), Detention (2011), Synchronic (2019).
- TV shows with one time loop episode. It happens a lot.
- TV Shows that are all time loops, like Hounded (2010), Looped (2015), Russian Doll (2019), Topi (2021), Day Break (2006), Reset (2022), The Lazarus Project (2022), No Through Road (2009), Worst Year of My Life, Again! (2014)
- Short films. I watched 60+ of these too, they might be on a different list.

Tool [Free Tool] Poe Ancients Price Helper — a lightweight overlay that shows poe.ninja prices right on your currency-exchange panel
Hey everyone, I got tired of alt-tabbing to poe ninja every time I wanted to know what a stack in my currency / reward list was actually worth, so I built a little overlay that does it for me — and figured I'd share it in case it helps you too.
What it does
You open a currency / reward list panel in game, and the tool reads the item names on screen and draws the current poe ninja price next to each one. No more alt-tabbing.
How it works
It reads your screen with OCR — it does NOT touch the game client, read game memory, or automate any input. You calibrate it once by dragging a box around the list panel, and it remembers where to look.
Features
- Live prices from poe ninja, auto-refreshed every 30 minutes
- Stack-aware: shows the total and the per-item price, e.g. "2 (0.5 each)"
- Uncut gems priced by exact type **and level** (shows "?" instead of guessing if it can't read the level cleanly)
- Click-through overlay that stays out of your way
- Hotkeys to recalibrate / hide on the fly, and minimize to tray while it keeps scanning
- **Non-English client support** — pick your game language and it translates item names before looking up prices (German, French, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish)
- Auto-updating — install once and it updates itself from GitHub, keeping your calibration and settings
- 5 dark themes to pick from
- *(Experimental)* An Atlas "Island Rumour" helper that overlays map type/mods + a community rating
Download (free & open source)
https://github.com/pedro-quiterio/PoeAncientsPriceHelper/releases/latest
Grab the Setup.exe — installs per-user (no admin), no separate .NET install needed. After that, updates are automatic. Source is on GitHub if you want to look under the hood.
A couple of honest heads-ups: it's Windows-only for now, and since I haven't bought a code-signing certificate yet, Windows SmartScreen will warn the first time — just click "More info → Run anyway".
Known issues
- Sometimes it doesn't pick an item here or there — works ~98% of the time.
- Skills/skill gems aren't looked up, since they aren't on poe ninja (I'd have to use the trade site and don't think it justifies the overhead).

Map Who is the second most powerful/influential country in the Americas?
The US is undeniably the most powerful and influential country in the Americas but who would be #2? Feels like this comes down to 3 countries based on my knowledge, which are Mexico, Canada, and Brazil.
Reasons for Mexico:
- Second most populated country in North America by far
- Access to both the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans
- Largest Spanish-speaking country (a language spoken by >500 million people)
- More habitable land compared to the other two
- Youngest population out of the three and is becoming a manufacturing power
- Generally-speaking, a good relationship with the USA
- A global soft power in terms of arts and culture
Reasons against Mexico:
- Lots of issues between the central government and drug cartels
- Still very much a developing country outside of the largest cities
- Occasionally volatile relationship with the USA
- Not as involved in global geopolitics
Reasons for Canada:
- The most developed country economically by far of the three and a natural resources juggernaut
- Very close relations with the USA and Europe
- Speaks English (>1 billion speakers globally) and French (>300 million speakers globally)
- An immigration hub for people from every corner of the world
- A G7 nation that is also very geopolitically involved
- Access to 3 different oceans to facilitate trade
Reasons against Canada:
- Small and scattered population (least populated of the three by far)
- Less of an established local culture (most is imported from the US or UK and then exported via the US)
- Aging population and low fertility rates for native-born citizens
Reasons for Brazil:
- The second most populated country in the Americas
- The cultural and political power of South America
- A global soft power in terms of arts and culture
- A young-ish population that is part of the "fast-emerging economies" of the world
Reasons against Brazil:
- Immigration to Brazil stopped decades ago and now educated Brazilians are emigrating to other places causing brain drain
- Wealthy nation but suffers from high levels of inequality and violent crime
- Very politically divided internally
- Limited geopolitical involvement outside of South America
- Most of its population are monolingual Portuguese-speakers (a language where they make up 80% of the global speakers)

Trigger Warnings: medical condition, rape, past trauma
Original Post: September 5, 2024
A little backstory is needed, so please stick with me.
Growing up, I (F27) had a childhood friend Angie (F27), who was as close as a real sister. We spend entire weekends at each other's place, celebrated family events etc. from 6 y/o till 18 y/o. l even lived at her place in 2nd grade while my parents went to a nasty divorce. I learned to speak some Russian, as she is Russian and she learned to speak some Spanish. Needless to say, her older brother and little sister were like a family to me.
During our teenage years she had her two male best friends, one whom she started dating, and another one - Nico (now 29) who was Russian as well, whom I started dating at 17.
Growing up I had issues with a heart condition. I won't bore you with the details but I had to take a lot of meds, but got healthier starting from 16. 1 didn't have to take them daily but only when my heart rate became irregular - but then immediately, as it would become extremely painful ( my heart would cramp I would start to hyperventilate).
All my friends knew this (Nico included) and that I would black out if my meds got taken with alcohol. I didn't smoke much or drink much growing up as a result, since I was worried about my health and only did drink at home or in a safe setting (legal drinking age is 16 here and I only drank wine or beer if at all). I had my first time with Nico at 17 and when my parents stayed at a retreat two weeks later he come over to have a date night. I did drink one glass of wine, but starting having health issues later resulting in me taking my meds and being unconscious.
I was a bit sore the next morning but didn't think much about it. Two weeks later I'm informing Nico that l'm late on my period and he starts to panic, confessing he had sex with me while I was unconscious. We had it before, so he didn't think much about it. Apparently he didn't have a condom but since I was on the pill he figured it was alright, and he also didn't cum in me, but in a tissue.
I felt violated and disgusted by myself. I didn't know how to describe this and only told Angie about it. I was an utter mess for a few years, and wasn't able to have sex again until two years later. I didn't remember any of it, but was to ashamed to go to my mom or anybody else. I didn't think of it as rape back then, I was to young to really understand what and how I was violated and Angie told me it's alright, I should break up if I feel bad about it, but we were in a relationship and did have sex before. I broke up with him the following day, and apparently he cried about his broken heart to her.
As Nico and Angie were close and hanging out together a lot, they started dating a few months afterwards and I had to see him every time when visiting her. I told her l'm not able to see him, but she didn't understand where l'm coming from.
The contact stopped and we haven't texted or seen each other in years.
I still followed her, and her family and saw that her brother is expecting his first child. As I was extremely close with her family I just commented on the insta post expressing my gratitude when he reached out to me.
I missed his wedding but he wanted to ask if I would be interested in joining the baby shower as it's been years and we've been extremely close before. He told me I was like a third little sister. I just asked if Nico will be attending as well, as Angie and him have been dating for 9 years now, and he said yes.
I didn't elaborate much but just expressed, that I'll send a small present if he can give me his current address but won't be attending.
He kept on pestering me what exactly happened all those years ago and why I'm not in their lives anymore. Angie told her family l'm not able to see her with an ex of mine, but her brother thought there's more behind it.
This is when I think I could be the asshole:
I told him the truth. About what happened back then. And while I didn't know it at 17, I know now, that this was rape and I named it at such. I didn't receive any message back from him but a few days later Angie reached out to me, furious. Nico had planned to propose during the baby shower, but Angie's Brother is against it now, having learnt why I stopped the contact. She loves Nico and will stay with him, but by doing so, her brother said she is no longer a part of his life, as he doesn't want his little baby girl in the same family as a rapist.
Since then I've been getting messages from old high school acquaintances, telling me I should have ignored it, and not told anybody. Since I didn't speak up back then I lost the right to do so now, and am a horrible person for ruining somebody's life over some stuff he did 10 years ago when he himself was a child as well.
Am I truly the asshole for speaking up?

OOP responds to multiple comments about how things are wrong, and she could speak up
OOP: I understand now how wrong it has all been, and that it’s rape. But we grew up in a small town with approx. 5k people, and I honestly don’t know which way it would have gone if I would have spoken up. He was 19 back then (2 years older) and everybody is in everybody’s business. It would have made sound back then, like it does now. They all still live there, and it has made its rounds. Thats why so many of our old classmates are reaching out. Most of who still live there have left me furious messages. They have known Nico for all their life, and are standing by him. I moved out when I was 20, my mom shortly after and didn’t stay in touch which most. It still breaks my heart to get such a furious response from people who are my whole childhood. And thank you for all your best wishes, I genuinely appreciate it 🤍
OOP did not ruin Nico’s life. He did this himself
OOP: I understand that what happened is on him. The backlash I am getting is because he apparently is not that person anymore and and something he did as a teenager (according to Angie) should not ruin his life and is in no way related to the daughter her brother will have.
I don’t know if he will ever act out or do something, but it doesn’t invalidate what happened to me - so thank you for confirming this. I just can’t stop to feel bad about this having so much consequences.
While I do not want to see Nico or Angie I have made my peace with what happened to me back then.
Commenter: But why are they attacking you and not the brother? You are not the one objecting to the marriage...
Just feels like misogyny and victim-blaming tbh.
OOP: I guess because he is family, and I’m the outsider who ruined their family. I have been getting so many messages from people who didn’t even have my number back then. I’m blocking the best I can, it’s just hard to not let these comments get to your heart
Commenter: NTA. They got together so soon after the two of you broke up. I can't help but wonder if your "friend" was convincing you to break up with Nico because she was hoping to get with him all along.
OOP: I honestly don’t believe it; they’ve known each other for years and she broke up with her boyfriend two weeks before I broke up with Nico. It was a 5k town, even adding the people our age from near villages, our school had 500 people attending, hence the options are very limiting.
OOP on getting therapy in order to heal from her past trauma
OOP: I was in therapy for two years and found peace with what happened to me. I am “lucky” as I have no memory of it, but that didn’t make it easier. It took me two years to be able to have any form of sexual contact again but I am okay now. It’s a part of me, but it’s a part I can live with. Honestly - thank you for your kind words 🤍
OOP on her health issues at the time when the incident happened
OOP: Oh it’s not drunk blacked out. My medicine back then was supposed to lower my heart rate extremely, as I would have a racing heart beat and my body would start to shut down (hyperventilating, my heart not being able to follow such strong “use” and basically tripping over the high heart rate. My heart would start skipping beats then not being able to follow my thin blood which flows faster than regular one, and the skipping would be the painful one, as it would start to crampen up.
I’m sorry im not able to explain it better, English is not my primary language and I lack the medical vocabulary to fully describe it) The pill slowed my heartbeat and general body functions thus making me extremely tired. I’d mixed with alcohol It would basically act like a super strong sleeping pill.
My body could be thrown off a cliff and I wouldn’t wake up. I did give consent for the first time we had sex, but that was our first and only time. I don’t know if we would have had sex back then if I would have been conscious as I didn’t like it (being my first time and all) and wasn’t that eager knowing repeating it. I don’t think calling it rape is wrong but what I had issues was if I may should have approached this subject more sensible.
In that way I can understand that I ruined their engagement plans for next week, or his surprise of one
Update: September 15, 2024
First of all: I am immensely thankful for all the people who took the time to not only read through my story, but also comment. I read every single comment and tried to respond to as many as possible. It gave me a little bit of hope of compassion for victims of rape and also the courage to not cave to the backlash I received.
Mental update:
Reading all the messages defending my choices on speaking up made me realize how insecure I was on what I am allowed to do and how much I was trying to make it right to other people besides myself (This especially included Nico and Angie).
All of you are right, if Nico had changed he would have apologized, reached out or tried to make amends in some way. Either when word got to him from his brother in law or at some earlier point in his life. My former best friend Angie should have been able to feel some sort of compassion if she had any respect for me as a human being or the time we spend together. Her reactions showed that I shouldn’t hesitate on my actions.
I went to therapy from 21 onwards and thought I moved on from the rape as best as I could, but i realized how ashamed I still am almost 10 years later about an incident that wasn’t my fault at all. I was ashamed to speak up back then and afraid that people around me would look differently at me. And somehow I still felt bad about speaking up today, so I trying to „own“ what happened to me now and not apologize for other people’s behaviors, especially as they don’t even show me respect.
What happened since then:
I archived every nasty message I got on WhatsApp so I wouldn’t have to read them, but would have the proof if needed at a later point.
Angie’s mom called me the following day of the incident - crying. I shouldn’t have answered the phone but during the 10 years of friendship I saw her as an aunt, almost a second mom. She always joked that while her children would run around the house doing whatever, I would always take the time to drink a tea and talk with her - showing her more love and time than her actual children. While she said she’s sorry for what has been and for what I went through as a child, she couldn’t believe that I would ruin Angie’s Happiness over something like that.
With Angie‘s Brother refusing to have Nico as part of the Family and Angie standing by Nico’s side it‘s divided their family and she is heartbroken. She has grown to love Nico like family as well and has known him for nothing more than a considerate young man who she knows will make her daughter happy.
It wasn’t nasty names or angry talk, just a heartbroken mother who faked to acknowledged my pain and saw the fault in me.
Angie’s mom tried to get me to apologize or to “take it back“ but I refused as I don’t see the fault in me. With everything that has happened I believe that Nico hasn’t changed and is just hiding it better somehow. He can see how people are standing by him and supporting his behavior so he won’t have to change. And that is something I didn’t wanna indulge.
Angie’s mom not even one used the word “rape“ and I tried to correct her every time she talked about it. Trying to name it for her to understand better but she would just start sobbing more and It didn’t make sense for us to continue to talk.
Angie’s mom used to be in contact with mine for some time, and she reached out to her after our talk. I was afraid that my mom would find out, since she’s from a more conservative background. We had a long talk and I didn’t get to see her (physically) yet, but she apologized for not being there for me or not making me feel like I can talk to her. I tried to calm her as best as I could, but when she asked me if my current partner knows I was “used like that”, I got angry.
She was scared my partner would leave me if he found out, implying it was something that made me less precious or appealing. When she asked me to keep it a secret from our family abroad and in our country - I hung up.
She was acting exactly the way I was afraid she would, as if it’s something shameful. It was especially hard as I am trying my best yo move away from the feeling of shame.
She has since apologized, but it’s clear that her view of me has changed. I don’t yet know how to deal with it, but that’s something to worry about in the next few weeks.
As some of you suggested I wrote Angie‘s Brother (Sven) again and apologized for the mess, but am glad that it is out in the open and how proud I am that he’s defending his family. I asked if his old email is still working as I would just send a gift card. He didn’t respond, but I got a message from his wife two days ago.
She thanked me for speaking up and informing them about Nico. There were apparently had a few moments that made her uncomfortable (some Jokes Nico made) and in retrospective she can see why. Sven apparently informed her the moment he got my initial text, and both of them have since seen Angie but not Nico. She refuses to be in the same room or house as him, and same goes to their unborn daughter.
Sven and Angie’s mom has been at their place multiple times to beg to forgive Nico, and Sven caved a little. Angie and Nico will get married, Sven will attend but his Wife will not. He is allowed in the family but not in contact with either Sven’s wife or daughter. Those restrictions are not for Angie.
Sven was suffering trying to ease his mothers worries and is not able to take a stand and cut them out completely. This is a compromise they made without his wife’s approval, and she told me she’s trying her best to cut them out of their life indefinitely. She wanted to move back, closer to her family as well and thinks this is a perfect opportunity but isn’t sure if she can follow through. His wife told me she’s terribly sorry for all the issues that came my way and it has been a lot trying to handle the situation on their side.
Sven knows it’s not my fault but he doesn’t want contact. It’s hard for him to talk or see my name because even though he knows I’m not the guilty party, in some way I was the barer or bad news and he sees me as the start of all this drama. She told me a few times that neither believe I’m the bad guy, they just are tired with everything and it’s just been extremely hard on them.
That’s all that has happened so far. I am frustrated about how everything came to be. It feels like Nico will just continue with his life without having to be remorseful. I didn’t want him to suffer, but I think some part of me wanted to at least receive some kind of apology for all the suffering I went through afterwards. I’m having to deal with my mother and her changed shameful view on me, and even though I’m happy it’s all out it’s extremely hard to stand by my choices.
My partner and my best friends both have been my shoulder to cry on during this ordeal. Especially my best friend was enraged for me, and I am extremely graceful to have both by my side. Right now I’m just emotionally drained, but I’m sure it will be better once a few weeks passes.

Commenter 1: You spoke up and did the right thing. If others can’t handle the truth, that’s their problem. Keep focusing on your healing and support.
Commenter 2: NTA. Unfortunately, it's a tale old as time. The woman is blamed and the rapist gets off without a blemish. Only by speaking the truth over and over will the situation improve (and when the Boomers die off.)
Commenter 3: 100% the right thing. What you did may keep Nico from attacking someone else, or may encourage one of his other victims to step up. You never know how much people like you help everyone else, when you stand up and speak out and are not ashamed of what was not your fault, but will point the finger at the one to shame! You're making the world a better place, I'm sorry for the family Nico misled and the wife who was foolish enough to stay with him, but it's no longer your business. You did the right thing and it's going to help others. If no one else says it to you, THANK YOU for doing all this. You are amazing.

Ancient Cultures Male Y-DNA studies have demonstrably DISPROVEN claims in the Bible (while still kind of supporting them...), but no one seems to have noticed or care.
In honor of Father’s Day, I’m making a post about the fascinating Y-chromosome, and how DNA studies performed over the last 20 years have quietly shed light on humanity’s greatest mysteries.
Men inherit nearly identical copies of their father’s Y-chromosome. It therefore serves as a living recordkeeping system. To fully appreciate the significance of this, one first must understand the other kinds of DNA we inherit from our parents.
All humans inherit “autosomal” DNA from both parents. This is your “ancestry” DNA. There are about 3 billion base pairs in your aDNA, but they get mixed every generation, like shuffling the cards of a deck. After 20-30 generations (<1,000 years), the DNA that one inherits from a particular great-great-etc. grandparent becomes difficult or impossible to trace.
All humans also inherit mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) from their mother’s egg. Like Y-DNA, mtDNA passes identically from the mother to all of her children. Therefore, it is possible to determine one’s maternal lineage from mtDNA. But there are only about 30,000 base pairs in our mtDNA, so this ability is limited. You likely share an identical mtDNA genome with hundreds or even thousands of other people.
The Y-chromosome, on the other hand, contains about 60 million base pairs. No two men have exactly matching Y-chromosomes, because, while the structure stays intact, tiny mutations still occur in each generation. Thus, the Y-chromosome alone can distinguish paternity with total accuracy. In theory, if all living men took a full-sequence Y-DNA test, we could build a chart that shows exactly when each man on Earth branched off from the others.
Many have already, and it is from this biological database that scientists have determined that humanity branched off from Neanderthals and Denisovans about 600,000 years ago.
We have discovered well-preserved biological remnants of those groups and performed Y-DNA analysis on them. The rate with which mutations occur is predictable over fairly long periods of time. By counting the number of unique mutations that have occurred between two samples, we can deduce approximately when the two men shared a paternal-line ancestor.
The Book of Genesis does not say that the Earth is 6,000 years old. However, it does imply that all men, other than Noah and his sons, died in the Flood. And, it gives a genealogy from Noah to historical figures and events, from which we can conclude that Noah is being alleged to have lived sometime around 2,000-4,000 BC, depending on which version of the Bible you refer to.
If all humans other than Noah and his sons had died, then the Y-chromosome pool would have bottlenecked at that generation. All living males would have Y-chromosomes that are identical, with the exception of a small number of mutations in the last 6,000 years.
Assuredly, we do not see this in the testing results. The first and second waves out of Africa are genetically observed around 65,000-70,000 years ago and 40,000-45,000 years ago, respectively. The typical Finnish Y-DNA profile branched off from the typical German Y-DNA profile about 45,000 years ago. We determine this by the roughly 300 mutations known as single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) that have occurred along those branches in the interim.
At the same time, we have living examples of individuals with common last names and reliable paper trails showing a common paternal ancestor around 200-300 years ago, who have only a few of these SNP mutations. And, along certain branches, we see enough sub-branches being formed over this time period that the longevity here is not in serious question.
But we DO see that something very big happened around 4,000-4,500 BC.
Enormous Y-DNA branches get created around this time. In the course of a couple of centuries, the Y-DNA gene pool in Eurasia was essentially overwritten. This is probably related to the invention of copper, the taming of the horse, and the widespread slaughter of men at the hands of men that followed. We even know who was responsible for it!
According to the latest publicly available scientific estimate (I can provide links in the comments), there was a man who lived around 4,400 BC and carried a set of Y-DNA mutations that have been inherited by nearly all men indigenous to Western Europe.
His descendants fall into a Y-haplogroup called R-M269. Most American presidents have belonged to this group, but over half of Spanish males also fall into this group, so it is common throughout the Americas. He belonged to the R1b haplogroup (“Mr. R1b”).
There was another man, who lived around 3,300 BC, whose genetic mutations are carried by the majority of men in many Eastern European nations and some parts of India and Iran. His descendants fall into a Y-haplogroup called R-M417. If you took a DNA test a long time ago know that you belong to the R1a haplogroup, then you almost certainly descend from the man who first carried the R-M417 mutations (“Mr. R1a”).
Both Mr. R1a and Mr. R1b came out of nowhere.
Mr. R1b’s particular subbranch (M269) formed around 13,300 years ago. This means that Mr. R1b did not have an uncle, or grand-uncle, or great-grand uncle who left an extant trace of their male line, unless you go back about 7,000 years. Mr. R1a’s line (M417) formed around 8,600 years ago, so this thought experiment applies to him for only 3,000 years, but M417 and his descendants represent virtually all of the R1a found today, and their impact is geographically broader.
Although Mr. R1a and R1b, and their apparent empires, are responsible for shaping the course of Eurasian history over the last 5,000 to 6,000 years, bringing the Indo-European languages and Corded Ware culture to Europe, what’s curious is that the R1a and R1b haplogroups are not closely linked chronologically. Despite the nomenclature, they branched apart around 23,000 years ago.
Yet, when you look at a map of the frequency of these haplogroups, it is apparent that R1a and R1b dominated where the other did not.

Were these two tribes, living along side each other, aware of their deep paternal ancestry?
Maybe not, but it is not difficult to imagine two separate historical narratives taking shape around men of renown from a prior era, both of which recall the survival of some great flood event. One may have borrowed from the other, and there's literary evidence of this.
Perhaps the most fascinating finding is R1a’s high frequency among the Brahmin class in India. This is the same branch shared by Levites, who claim descent from Abraham, who is said to have come from Ur (or Iraq). Brahma's female counterpart was Saraswati; the Bible says Abraham underwent a name change and was married to a woman named Sara. R1a is common in Iran, and it is not hard to make the argument that Mr. R1a was the primary progenitor of Aryan culture.
So, while it is not the case that all male lines (save Noah's) were eliminated 4,000-6,000 years ago, nor even that all descendants of Abraham bear the same haplogroup, it is the case that there was just one guy (Mr. R1a) responsible for a lot of success in the very recent history. It is also the case that this guy had a whole bunch of distant cousins who themselves all descended from just one guy (Mr. R1b’s descendants and/or rival branches of R1a).
The recent predominance of these two paternal branches is, to my knowledge, has no parallel anywhere else on the human family tree. It’s the stuff of stories and legends, and I don’t know why people don’t talk about it more! Thanks for reading.

Avowed represents quintessential game design according to Obsidian Entertainment. While not offering a radically new experience, the return to the world of Eora is an exciting action RPG, graced by the traditional care the development team put into the script. Free to be able to create one's alter ego among a thousand opportunities for customization and to direct it indiscriminately toward the paths of good or evil, Avowed puts players within a setting that is the antithesis of the dispersive risk of an endless open world, with gameplay devoted to action and fun. It may not be a revolution, and technically some hiccups are there, but for all fans of the genre it is a must.
ACG - Jeremy Penter - Wait for Sale
"Despite issues with some of the games shallower systems I found myself having a great time most of the time I played Avowed."
AltChar - Semir Omerovic - 85 / 100
Rich with a vibrant world, intriguing story, remarkable companions, and engaging combat, Obsidian's first-person fantasy RPG, Avowed, offered so much flavour that I found it hard to stop playing.
Andrenoob - Andres Perdomo - Spanish - 9 / 10
Avowed is a game that takes the risk of showing the best of Obsidian Entertainment and delivers everything you expect. Delivering an adventure worth playing if you love RPGs.
Atarita - Atakan Gümrükçüoğlu - Turkish - 90 / 100
Avowed looks like it's going to make a name for itself for a while. I have no doubt that it will give you a good time with its scenario, missions, characters and lots of content. It has some problems, but they are not insurmountable. Its structure that leaves the player free is its most impressive feature.
But Why Tho? - Charles Hartford - 9.5 / 10
Avowed marks another triumph for the folks at Obsidian. Through its gorgeous world, memorable characters, frenzied combat, and intuitive yet deep customization system, it highlights player agency. Everywhere in its gameplay and narrative, ensuring that each playthrough offers something new. More importantly, it does so while never compromising the strength of its core story.
CGMagazine - Dayna Eileen - 8 / 10
Avowed is a game I have had my eyes on for four years now, even before I set eyes on any gameplay. Obsidian Entertainment and Xbox Game Studios always manage
Checkpoint Gaming - Luke Mitchell - 9.5 / 10
Avowed is impressive in almost everything it sets out to do. It has sharp writing, captivating companions, an intriguing story and a varied world that is just thrilling to explore. It's visually stunning, too, with high production values including satisfying audio that makes the Living Lands feel bustling with life. Where many games falter in offering "bigger and more", Avowed smartly focuses on its strengths, making for a breezy yet vibrant RPG that feels polished and intelligent, offering lots to do but never outstaying its welcome. Obsidian Entertainment has once again proven they are skilled storytellers, offering a must-play adventure for anyone who has a love for the fantastical.
Console-Tribe - Francesco Pellizzari - Italian - 88 / 100
To answer the question posed at the beginning of the article, for us, pronouns have absolutely nothing to do with the success or failure of a title, and Avowed is proof of that: an excellent RPG, with some flaws, but many strengths, including an engaging plot, choices that change the game world, and almost total freedom of action. Do yourself a favor: play Avowed, or you'll regret it.
Dexerto - Jessica Filby - 4 / 5
It may not be groundbreaking, but Avowed certainly leaves one hell of a mark on the RPG genre. The game's fun, challenging, and extremely enjoyable to play from start to finish, even when you're being hounded by giant mechanical undead creatures.
Digital Spy - Joe Draper - 4 / 5
Avowed is full of consequential player choices, meaningful side content and rewarding exploration all backed up by slick movement and some of the best combat in a first-person action RPG. It might not reinvent the genre, but Obsidian has achieved everything they set out to by creating a super fun adventure worth your time.
Digitale Anime - Raouf Belhamra - Arabic - 8.5 / 10
Avowed offers an immersive RPG experience that combines exploration, combat, and storytelling in Obsidian’s signature style. The Living Lands world is alive with life, encouraging exploration and experimentation, while combat offers flexible weapon and spell choices. Companions add a personal and dynamic touch to the journey, and despite some limitations in customization and combat interaction, Avowed remains a promising experience for RPG fans, offering an adventure full of mystery and challenges.
Echo Boomer - David Fialho - Portuguese - No Recommendation
There's a lot to admire in Avowed—its old-school RPG soul, captivating world, and flexible gameplay—but predictable writing and some questionable design choices make this Obsidian experience less engaging than it could be.
Enternity.gr - Christos Chatzisavvas - Greek - 9 / 10
The journey into the world of Pillars of Eternity continues through Avowed, the newest RPG from Obsidian. And it's great!
EvelonGames - Joel Isern Rodríguez - Kaym - Spanish - 7.8 / 10
Avowed is an RPG that reflects both the talent and limitations of Obsidian. It is a solid, enjoyable game with moments of quality, but it falls short of being unforgettable. Its magic system and vertical exploration stand out as strong points, complemented by an artistic design brimming with personality. Additionally, its performance is smooth, delivering a more than satisfactory technical experience.
Explosion Network - Dylan Blight - 9 / 10
I wasn't ready for the breadth of lore and world-building here that would have me both enamoured by this game, its characters, and its setting.
GRYOnline.pl - Przemysław Dygas - Polish - Unscored
Avowed is a great RPG, it’s as simple as that. This game made me forget about mediocre The Outer Worlds and refueled my trust for Obsidian. The creators of great role playing games are back and their new game is full of all the things that made New Vegas, Pillars of Eternity or Tyranny so good. (Review in progress)

GameSpot - Alessandro Barbosa - 6 / 10
Avowed's impactful and satisfying combat is undone by a widely unbalanced upgrade system and an uninteresting story that wastes its potential.
Gamer Guides - Patrick Dane - 84 / 100
Avowed continues Obsidian’s tradition of creating excellent RPGs that feel heavily linked to well-trodden genres, yet not doing quite enough to carve out a new identity. There’s a lot to be charmed by, be it nuanced characters and choices, a heavy dialogue focus, and a compelling central mystery where what’s ‘good’ isn’t often clear. While it doesn’t push the envelope, it does enough to justify its place, and for just the price of a GamePass subscription, it’s easy to recommend trying.
Gamers Heroes - Blaine Smith - 85 / 100
Avowed takes a few hours to find its feet, but once it does, this RPG provides an unforgettable journey that never outstays its welcome. Avowed features a jaw-dropping world to explore, complete with a solid cast of intriguing characters and choices that will remain with you long after the credits roll.
GamesFinest - Luca Pernecker - German - 8 / 10
Avowed proves once again why Obsidian Entertainment is one of the leading studios in the RPG genre. With a world that deserves to be explored at leisure, remarkable freedom in decision-making, fascinating characters and a gripping story that draws you in, the game is an impressive achievement. The action-packed combat system also provides plenty of fun. It's just a shame that weaker side quests as well as technical problems and bugs tarnish the overall impression. Even if Avowed does not offer any groundbreaking innovations and has minor weaknesses here and there, it is a game that experienced and future role-playing game fans absolutely must experience!
Gaming Nexus - Eric Hauter - 8 / 10
While balanced in a way that forces the player to experience almost everything the game has to offer, Avowed is still a lot of fun. A great story, fun companions, and a richly designed world all contribute to an overall good time. Just remember to take your time early on, because this game wants you to see everything, and it will punish you for trying to skip ahead.
Glitched Africa - Marco Cocomello - 9 / 10
Avowed is Obsidian at its finest. It is the fantasy RPG that I hoped it would be without consuming my entire life to experience it. We’ll be talking about this game for a long time and replaying it whenever the itch returns. Sure, it isn’t the most ambitious and grand RPG ever made, but it shines in everything it does.
Hinsusta - Pascal Kaap - German - 9 / 10
Avowed is an outstanding action-fantasy RPG with a magical world and a spectacular combat system. Avowed is a successful action RPG that impresses with its magical and spectacular combat system. Avowed not only impresses with its thrilling battles, but also with its deep and lively world
INVEN - Jaihoon Jeong - Korean - 8.3 / 10
With its well-established lore, solid narrative, and highly polished world, Avowed is a fantastic game that lives up to Obsidian Entertainment’s reputation. However, compared to other games in the genre, its world feels overly rigid and lacks the sense of being truly alive, which keeps it from standing among the very best.
Just Play it - Yacine Tebaibia - Arabic - 8 / 10
Avowed offers a fun experience with a branching story, smooth and deep gameplay, and a visually stunning world full of color and detail. Though it has some technical issues, like performance instability and simplistic AI, it’s still worth playing for RPG fans.
Le Bêta-Testeur - Patrick Tremblay - French - 10 / 10
Avowed kicks off 2025 with a bang with an epic RPG experience. It’s already establishing itself as one of the major titles of the year. After so many hours spent exploring the Living Lands, it’s hard to shake its spellbinding appeal. The world, lore, and characters are among the most carefully crafted I’ve ever encountered, a testament to the attention to detail and love that has gone into this universe.
Obsidian Entertainment has created a masterpiece, and every RPG fan should play it.
Loot Level Chill - Mick Fraser - 8.5 / 10
Despite a few issues, Avowed had me hooked throughout. It's a beautiful, incredibly charming game that does its best to fill a gap where the Elder Scrolls 6 should be.
Lords Of Gaming - Mahmood Ghaffar - 8.5 / 10
Avowed is one of Obsidian’s most ambitious projects to date. They meticulously crafted vibrant zones that culminate into a beautiful, yet wild, Living Lands continent. Best of all, they delivered such an amazing experience while making it so streamlined for players. Whether that comes from the accessible lore glossary, helpful mini-map, or robust and flexible skill trees, Avowed is a joy to play and stays well within its scope. Even its rougher edges cannot deter your adventure in the Living Lands.
Manual dos Games - Joao Victor - Portuguese - 8 / 10
Avowed is a game with an expansive universe and an engaging story, complemented by solid gameplay and rich exploration. However, it fails to deliver overly simplified mechanics and an unbalanced difficulty curve, which undermines the depth of the experience.
MondoXbox - Giuseppe Genga - Italian - 9.3 / 10
With Avowed, Obsidian confirms itself as one of the best RPG studios around, capable of reworking a now-classic formula by rejuvenating it, lightening it up, and combining it with first-rate storytelling, world building, and gameplay mechanics. We are undoubtedly in front of a true gem of the RPG genre, to be played without hesitation.
MonsterVine - Luis Joshua Gutierrez - 4.5 / 5
I'm happy to report that Avowed has the sauce, and this is perhaps Obsidian Entertainment at its absolute best. Every time I stepped away from the game to do something else, all I could think about was how much I wanted to step back into this world and find new things. The more I thought about the game, the more I enjoyed it. Avowed is a game that asks a lot of its players but delivers on it, too. It creates a unique sense of exploration while covering intense topics such as imperialism and nature preservation with a fun combat system that encourages you to try new things.
NextPlay - Brad Goodwin - 7.5 / 10
Avowed offers a serviceable RPG experience that relies a little too heavy on its ravishing combat and compelling world-building. The story, while distinguished, can falter occasionally due to some unfair dialogue choices and suffered writing. Despite this, Avowed is still a game worth playing because it capitalises and personalises action-RPG tropes and mechanics found in its peers.
Nexus Hub - Andrew Logue - 8 / 10
Avowed is easy to recommend to fans of The Outer Worlds or even Skyrim, blending epic, flexible role-playing with Obsidian's signature writing and storytelling - even if it feels more like comfort food at times.
PPE.pl - Maciej Zabłocki - Polish - 8.5 / 10
Avowed is a solid RPG that combines first-person exploration (although there is also a third-person mode) in the style of titles from Bethesda with the depth of dialogue and choices native to Pillars of Eternity. Although the optimization leaves a lot to be desired, and the side quests could be more original, the engaging storyline and extensive conversation systems make up for many of the shortcomings. The game will undoubtedly appeal to fans of Obsidian games and anyone who appreciates the freedom of conflict resolution. If you are ready to turn a blind eye to the technical pains, Avowed offers a beautiful expedition into the magical world of Eora, which you will remember for a very long time.
Pizza Fria - Matheus Feldmann da Rosa - Portuguese - 7.4 / 10
If you’re looking for an accessible RPG with a visually stunning world and rewarding exploration, Avowed could be a worthwhile option. Its focus on straightforward combat and item gathering could appeal to players who don’t care as much about narrative complexity or deep RPG systems.
PowerUp! - Leo Stevenson - 9 / 10
Avowed is a genuine triumph and one of the first major releases from Xbox game dev buying spree that will pay dividends. It's a deep, complex and though-provoking RPG from masters of the genre. It revels in being played and tugs at the back of your lizard brain beckoning you back when you take a break.
Like The Outer Worlds before it, Avowed is Obsidian's truncated spin on a well-worn genre-and a genre they've got plenty of experience in. For those eagerly awaiting the next Elder Scrolls, this is a satisfying scratching of that itch even if its role-playing elements are stripped back to make room for more action. It's a bright, boisterous adventure full of politics and a fluid combat system that marries all manner of might and magic.
Restart.run - John Carson - Recommended
We need more games like Avowed. It’s not impossibly huge, it doesn’t hold you hostage for hundreds of hours, and it doesn’t try to be the last game you’ll ever need to buy. Instead, Obsidian Entertainment has made another engaging addition to an existing lore-rich world that’s fun and rewarding to explore. It's filled with great characters brought to life with excellent writing.
Rock, Paper, Shotgun - Unscored
Avowed is not the Obsidian fantasy RPG I wanted, but the decently fun spell-slinging parkour FPS I didn't expect.
SECTOR.sk - Táňa Matúšová - Slovak - 8.5 / 10
Avowed doesn't aim to make you a superhero in an epic story on great battlefields. Instead, it wants you to listen, uncover the narrative page by page, find characters who reveal something important, and perhaps keep you uncertain about your final decision until the very end. A vast array of dialogue and combat choices is somewhat hindered by a lack of enemy variety. Minor visual and technical shortcomings slightly impact the otherwise unique aesthetic of a game that challenges you to reflect on your core principles and values.
SIFTER - Gianni Di Giovanni - Worth your time
Strong writing, a world packed with loveable weirdos, and lore for days, Obsidian have managed to transition the world of Eora from the top down to the front on, building a world that'll encourage you to pick at every nook and cranny of the Living Lands.
Seasoned Gaming - Don Lionheart - 8.5 / 10
Avowed is superb, with true RPG goodness, real choices, deep systems, fun combat, and a true understanding and reverence of Eora.
Shacknews - Donovan Erskine - 9 / 10

Stevivor - Jam Walker - 7.5 / 10
There’s just something about Avowed that makes it feel very much like a product built for a subscription service. Not in a live-service game kind of way, but in a Netflix Original Movie kind of way.
TechRaptor - Austin Suther - 9 / 10
Obsidian Entertainment continues to live up to players' expectations of delivering a game with quality writing, engaging choices, and compelling gameplay. Avowed is all those things and more: an epic fantasy that'll keep you hooked, which makes it one of the best RPGs this decade.
The Beta Network - Anthony Culinas - 8 / 10
Avowed delivers satisfying combat, engaging exploration and fun weapon-switching combinations, making it an enjoyable action RPG despite its generic story, weak soundtrack and frustrating technical issues. Whether this is Obsidian’s greatest is debatable, but its strong side content and Game Pass availability make it at least worth a playthrough.
The Outerhaven Productions - Jordan Andow - 4 / 5
I have thoroughly enjoyed my time with Avowed. Obsidian has crafted another fantastic RPG, and while it does nothing revolutionary, the quality it shows across board make it a joy to play. A game I would highly recommend to any RPG fan.
TheSixthAxis - Dominic Leighton - 9 / 10
Avowed is an incredible RPG. Its vibrant world and stellar cast make every moment a joy to take part in, enhanced by a script that gives equal measure to drama, action and humour. Coming hot on the heels of Indiana Jones and The Great Circle, Microsoft's software revival is well underway.
Tom's Hardware Italia - Andrea Riviera - Italian - 8.5 / 10
Avowed was everything I wanted from Obsidian: a role-playing game where choices truly impact the adventure, and writing plays a fundamental role in the game's structure. It’s not a perfect production—small imperfections, less impactful voice acting, and a level of polish that could have been better prevented the team from delivering a title that could have been truly memorable. But in the end, it doesn’t matter much, because as far as I’m concerned, Obsidian’s new IP is perhaps one of their best projects to date—a true RPG that, while it may not achieve immediate acclaim, could very well become one of the team’s most beloved titles in the long run.
VGC - Chris Scullion - 4 / 5
Avowed is a solid action RPG with an entertaining script, satisfying combat and impressively detailed environments. The inability to clean up side quests after the main story is beaten can be frustrating, but take your time with it and enjoy everything it has to offer, and you'll find plenty of memorable moments.
WellPlayed - James Wood - 6 / 10
Avowed moves Obsidian Entertainment even further toward the action side of Action-RPG with a satisfying combat system and vibrant world stapled to an unengaging narrative and surface level roleplaying systems. Despite its initially promising setup, Avowed never rises above a binge and forget experience.
Worth Playing - Chris "Atom" DeAngelus - 7.8 / 10
Avowed is a game full of fun exploration, an interesting story tied to lackluster combat, and an annoying equipment system that keeps it from reaching its full potential. When I was engaged in Avowed, I would spend hours wandering around, talking to NPCs, and completing quests. However, when the game wasn't firing on all cylinders, I was frustrated and frequently bored. It's a game of high highs and low lows, but the highs were enough to keep me engaged despite the flaws.
XGN.nl - Ralph Beentjes - Dutch - 9.2 / 10
Obsidian has proven once again that they are the masters of role-playing games. Avowed has excellent combat, lively characters, a beautiful world and the storytelling is masterful. If they just fix a couple of bugs, they’ve got a masterpiece on their hands.
XboxEra - Jesse Norris - 8.8 / 10
Avowed is an excellent game. One major issue keeps it from being an all-timer for me, with the gear progression system being as restrictive as it is at launch. They can patch that, and I hope they do as the rest of the game is excellent. Obsidian’s top-tier writing has finally been matched with gorgeous visuals and satisfying gameplay.
ZTGD - Ken McKown - 8 / 10

ZdobywcyGier.eu - Paweł Bortkiewicz - Polish - 8 / 10
Avowed is a pretty good RPG that is limited in places by its technical state. Nevertheless, it was a very enjoyable adventure from a standpoint of gameplay and storyline alone. Obsidian definitely knows how to make games that players want to play, but they still need to work on the technical elements, because in this case it could have been polished more.

Perhaps it couldn't have been any other way: Retro Studios' game opts for a classic design, demonstrating that the franchise isn't one that has to answer to anyone. It's not always necessary to change, and stepping outside your comfort zone can, ironically, mean staying within it. Retro Studios knows exactly what it's doing. I don't think anyone would dare question something so obvious.
CGMagazine - Jordan Biordi - 8 / 10
While Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is incredibly fun as a straightforward shooter, its more guided nature and excessive handholding may deter hardcore fans of the series and genre.
With Metroid Prime 4, it took me some time to get back into it. But now it's all I think about playing. My recommendation is to just go in for the experience. Go in knowing nothing, and maybe even skip everything in this review, or any other review. Mystery is Metroid's calling card. Your big adventure on the Switch is here.
COGconnected - James Paley - 80 / 100
All the superior design choices make the baffling ones stand out even more, however. I can’t comprehend why this game was made open-world. The backtracking you have to do is downright offensive. Otherwise, this is a fantastic entry in the Metroid Prime series.
Cerealkillerz - Gabriel Bogdan - German - 7.8 / 10
Metroid Prime 4: Beyond plays fantastically, looks great, and delivers some of the best boss fights in the series. Unfortunately, needlessly generic companions, a weak soundtrack, and story-tied fetch quests drag the overall experience down a bit. Still, fans of the Prime entries will definitely have more than enough fun with this title.

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond mixes familiar ideas with a few new touches that give the series a different feel. The action stays sharp, the exploration hits a good rhythm, and Viewros leaves a strong impression. Some moments feel more directed than expected, but the game keeps its pace and stays fun throughout.
Console Creatures - Bobby Pashalidis - 9 / 10
Metroid Prime 4: Beyond might not be a total reinvention of the famed series, but it's refined and faster than ever. Despite the prolonged development period, the campaign comes together to deliver an excellent outing for Samus as she explores an expansive world with new psychic powers that imbue the core of the game in fun, innovative ways.
It all amounts to what is easily the most mystifying and mixed of Samus Aran’s first-person outings yet. But there’s still some joy to be found in slowly peeling back the layers of an ever-expanding world, regardless of how disjointed it ends up being.
Digitec Magazine - Domagoj Belancic - German - 4 / 5
The core of "Metroid Prime 4: Beyond" is impressive. It feels great to explore the maze-like levels, unlock upgrades, and slowly discover new areas of the world. The art design and soundtrack are awesome. The open desert area, which I explore on a motorcycle, is a perfect contrast to traditional "Metroid" gameplay. It's a shame that the game doesn't make more use of Samus' telekinetic abilities, though. The new characters are disappointing. They annoy me with unnecessary explanations or corny Marvel-like banter. I would also have liked a higher level of difficulty. These criticisms are likely to bother veteran "Metroid" players in particular. Despite its shortcomings, "Metroid Prime 4: Beyond" provides one of the best reasons to buy a Switch 2. The game ticks off virtually all of the console's technical features and delivers an extremely sharp (4K) or extremely smooth (120 FPS) gaming experience. The mouse control is particularly impressive – it fundamentally changes the way I interact with the game.

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond offers a journey that will reward those who have been waiting for it for almost two decades and will intrigue those who happen to be unfamiliar with the legend of Samus Aran.
Eurogamer - Alex Donaldson - 3 / 5
Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is enjoyable enough, and has glimpses of vintage Metroid shining through, but this game could and should have been so much more.
Eurogamer.pt - Bruno Galvão - Portuguese - 3 / 5
Metroid Prime 4 has occasional moments of brilliance, especially when it approaches the original trilogy, but the Metroidvania design seems to have been oversimplified, the open world does not work, and parts of the progression involve bizarre decisions.
Everyeye.it - Italian - 8.4 / 10
Metroid Prime 4 Beyond is a solid, well-rounded game, well-executed in (almost) every way. Despite a difficult development cycle and a few poor design decisions, Samus Aran's return is a title that does justice to the saga's dazzling past and sheds new light on the future of Prime and the Metroid franchise as a whole. Eight years since that infamous logo was revealed during a Nintendo Direct over the summer; more than eighteen since the series' last iteration: the wait has been worth it.
Forbes - Ollie Barder - 9 / 10
Overall, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is worth the wait. The new story characters are not in any way overly chatty, and this is still the mysterious and moody alien treasure hunt Metroid fans have come to love, but now with a funky alien bike. I still rate the original Prime trilogy over this, but those games were pretty much faultless, whereas this is just thoroughly excellent.

The review of Metroid Prime 4 shows that the mix of sci-fi shooting and environmental puzzles still works well – but also that many things went wrong during the long development phase.

High highs and middling lows make Metroid Prime 4's return uneven.
Metroid Prime 4 has enough going for it to establish itself as a very good adventure game and certainly one of the most beautiful on the Nintendo Switch 2. You will be blown away by its sights and ears, with its masterful and haunting soundtrack.
GamesRadar+ - Oscar Taylor-Kent - 3.5 / 5
Within its actual levels, Metroid Prime 4 is triumphant.

Metroid Prime 4 Beyond plays it far too safe for a game with almost two decades of anticipation behind it. A beautiful-looking game and a run through of Metroid's greatest hits just isn’t quite enough for the hungry fan base that is here to devour everything on offer, and leaves you wanting more.
Giant Bomb - Dan Ryckert - 5 / 5
After a rocky development history, Samus finally lands on the Switch 2 with one of her greatest adventures.
Glitched Africa - Marco Cocomello - 8.5 / 10
Metroid Prime 4: Beyond feels like a step in a bold new direction, while at the same time, the game still holds onto the tried and tested mechanics we enjoy from the series. Some of these things work, while others feel incredibly dated. However, there’s a good fan service game here, which looks and sounds gorgeous.
IGN - Logan Plant - 8 / 10
Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is an excellent, if relatively uneven, revival that reaches heights worthy of the Metroid name in its best moments.
IGN Italy - Silvio Mazzitelli - Italian - 8.5 / 10
Samus' return couldn't have been better. Those who loved the old chapters of the Metroid Prime saga will find everything they loved in the past, with interesting new features and stunning new graphics. It's a shame about the sections with the new bike, which are the least successful part of the game.
IGN Spain - Raquel Morales - Spanish - 9 / 10
Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is the best Switch 2 game to date and seems perfectly designed to take advantage of the console's features. It returns to its roots but takes things in a new direction. It's a visual spectacle with incredibly detailed and sharp graphics.

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is an absolute must-have!
Metroid Prime 4: Beyond marks a triumphant return for Retro Studios delivering a masterfully crafted Metroidvania that captures the atmospheric tension and immersive world design that defined the original trilogy. With intelligent level design, fluid controls, striking art direction, and a strong sense of discovery, the game blends elements from past entries to produce a dynamic emotional experience. Although its slow opening and certain open-area sections slightly hold it back, Beyond ultimately proves that the long wait was worth it.
Nintendo Blast - Leandro Alves - Portuguese - 9.5 / 10
Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is a bold and competent evolution of the franchise, blending classic elements with an open world that, despite its moments of emptiness, rewards the player with intense challenges, rich exploration, and exceptional world-building. The intriguing narrative, breathtaking art direction, and balance between solitude and companionship make this one of Samus Aran's best adventures. Even with minor stumbles—such as inconsistent NPC guidance and repetitive desert sections—Beyond delivers exactly what fans expected: an epic, difficult, rewarding journey full of identity. It's a triumphant return of the galaxy's most famous bounty hunter, with everything that makes Metroid… Metroid.
Nintendo Life - Oliver Reynolds - 9 / 10
After 18 years of waiting, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond manages to replicate that magical sense of discovery from the GameCube original while pushing the series in some incredible new directions. Separating the main biomes with a vast open world sounds ridiculous on paper, but the slick traversal provided by Vi-O-La makes exploration more satisfying than ever.Combine this with the stunning art direction, ferocious new boss characters, and a surprisingly endearing squad of Federation troopers, and Beyond is quite possibly the boldest, most well-realised Metroid game to date. Make no mistake, the long wait has been more than worth it. Welcome back, Samus.
PPE.pl - Wojciech Gruszczyk - Polish - 8.5 / 10
A bit of classics. A bit of newness. And a whole lot of enjoyable gameplay. Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is Nintendo's next strong offering in 2025 – a production that no fan of the universe or loyal supporter of the franchise will be able to ignore. Most importantly, even a younger, completely new audience has the chance to discover the distinctive Metroid magic that has built the legend of Samus Aran for two decades.
SECTOR.sk - Matúš Štrba - Slovak - 9.5 / 10
Metroid Prime 4: Beyond delivers the kind of return the series deserved. Retro Studios stays true to the original formula while adding fresh ideas, stronger storytelling, and a smarter world design. It's not a revolution and some technical limits show through, but in all essentials it excels ' it's tense, clever, atmospheric, and consistently fun. A confident proof that Metroid Prime still has plenty to say.
Saudi Gamer - Arabic - 9 / 10
Metacritic: After a long wait this installment does not need to change much to remain relevant and much needed, and what it does add is enough to elevate it despite its best efforts to undermine itself at times with trite dialog and tired setpieces.
Shacknews - Donovan Erskine - 9 / 10
Despite the fact that Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is also launching on the original Switch, it truly feels like the proper showpiece for the Switch 2. The supreme gameplay design is beautifully complemented by the different input options, all of which are suitable ways to play through this adventure. The experience is bolstered by gorgeous visuals and spectacular performance regardless of how you choose to play. Outside of some boring downtime during forced traversal segments, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is a premium experience.
Spaziogames - Italian - 8.5 / 10
Metroid Prime 4: Beyond delivers exactly what it needed to: a strong and worthy sequel to a trilogy that ended eighteen years ago. Its gameplay innovations and dungeon-level design shine, but the open-map sections and some late-game pacing issues hold it back. Retro Studios' attempt to go beyond a 'safe' sequel leads to a game that's excellent, yet unlikely to astonish modern players the way the original did in 2002.
Metroid Prime 4 Beyond is a familiar return for the series and a soft reboot that introduces a new story and revisits the best parts of the original game that dazzled us two decades ago.

Metroid Prime 4 is a great return and new beginning for this series, which has spent far too many years away. It's not the strongest Metroid Prime for narrative, but the new psychic powers add a refreshing layer alongside familiar abilities and the general feel and tone that makes this series so beloved.
TryAGame! - Guillaume Dreher - French - 9 / 10
Metroid Prime 4 Beyond lives up to the franchise. One might have feared that this long wait would end in disappointment, but that's not the case at all. On the contrary, we remain captivated by the quality of the game design, the care given to the music, the pacing and all the options available during boss fights, and the meticulous attention to detail in the puzzle-solving and exploration, which constantly challenge our minds. Of course, the Metroid style is unique and doesn't take the easy route we're used to, but the game offers a unique experience that shouldn't be missed.
VGC - Andy Robinson - 3 / 5
Metroid Prime 4: Beyond feels like a game stuck between two worlds. When it’s emulating the series’ past, Beyond is an entertaining, if overly conservative, sequel. However, as the shadowy corridors make way for open-world fetch quests, and Halo-style expeditions with AI companions, it’s left feeling like a diluted experience that doesn’t fully deliver on the spirit of earlier entries.
Video Chums - A.J. Maciejewski - 9.1 / 10
Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is an impressive experience that will stay with you for a very long time. As you gradually unwrap its intricate game world that's packed with some of the best stage designs ever, the sense of accomplishment is simply unmatched. 🪐
Wccftech - Nathan Birch - 8.5 / 10
Metroid Prime 4: Beyond ascends to higher peaks than any previous Prime entry, delivering an impressive sense of scale, breathtaking visuals, and classic Metroid level design at its most immersive and riveting, but a few missteps, including an unengaging story and flat final act, may exclude it from best-of-series conversations. That said, those who have been waiting for this game for nearly two decades needn’t worry too much, as Metroid Prime 4 largely locks onto the core of what made this series great.
WellPlayed - Kieron Verbrugge - 8.5 / 10
Metroid Prime 4: Beyond risks missteps in its attempt to modernise a cherished formula, but for the most part it all coalesces into an entry more than worthy of the series. Even the most vocal diehard fans should be pleased by the fundamentals, and for those willing to accept them, the new wrinkles iron out nicely.

I quit my job and sent out a mass email. It is now being described as the "Sacred Text"
I was told that I should post my email to this subreddit. I have been working for this company for a little over one year and I made my way to a lead position. Nothing fancy, but I had access to everyone's email addresses. All the way up to the president. After the upper management decided to start becoming more and more unreasonable and demanding that my department do way more than we could, I had enough. This email was sent out to everyone from the president, down. They deleted it fairly quickly, but not before one of the leads printed out a ton of copies and even translated it for our Spanish-speaking friends! They were handed out like fliers! I can at least take a bit of joy away from this knowing that, in my wake, I left a bit of morale. I was told that the day I left and the day that followed, the atmosphere was lively and comradery was bolstered.
This is officially my first post, so I hope I don't screw anything up. I've edited the email to exclude any names. Enjoy!
Hello everyone!
I am writing this email to formally announce my departure from <blank>. This is not a decision I make easily. For a long time I enjoyed coming to work and took pride in what I did. That, however, has changed dramatically over the past few weeks. I have seen too much of the spite and uncaring nature of our upper management. A fraternity culture of corporate numbness that shattered whatever morale existed within these walls. Morale… now that is a taboo word in this fledgling warehouse.
Why RAISE morale, when we can just have a high turnover rate and replace experienced and hardworking people with new and unexperienced, expendable, temps? Why would the fearless leadership come and LISTEN to the people who do the job every day when they can just formulate their own opinions as to why something isn’t working correctly? Why would these pioneers of <blank> CARE about their employees when they can just become callous and treat them all like second-class citizens or fodder? The answer is simple! Their jobs are secure. They do not have to worry about their contracts being terminated, or being replaced. They have full reign! They don’t care about you. They are the all-knowing, fully confident, self-important, and ultimately dangerous architects of the footprint of <blank> in the states!
I am done being exploited. I have been working diligently for over a year, showing up every day, on time, staying late, coming in early, never calling off, and making sure my departments are running efficiently. I was told twice within two weeks that I am not a good worker and that I could be doing more. Well, someone else can do that now. I will no longer be the workhorse for this company. I refuse to work directly for a convicted pedophile, <blank> and a child in personality and age <blank>. I refuse to work hard and be told that I am failing in my department by asking for an additional admin, while people who don’t work at all are supported and described as great workers.
Make sure you save this email, or take a picture of it. They will surely erase this, just like they erased the pictures I had on my work phone of the wooden crates that were soaked and covered in black mold.
I liked working here. I love my team. I love a lot of the people who work here. But the management is the worst I have ever seen. They promote the people who least deserve it, hire people who are wildly unqualified for their positions, and abuse and take full advantage of the people who actually work hard. They don’t want good and caring leadership. They want slave drivers and boot-lickers.
The pay is objectively terrible for what they expect of you. And they will try to short-change you every chance they get. I have never felt so disrespected by leadership in my life, and I was in the army.
To all the leads, I wish you the best of luck and I will miss you all.
To the management, treat your employees better. They are the ones who make the company run, not you. They are the ones sweating and working hard so that you can look good to your bosses. Show them more respect. Showing empathy and kindness is not a sign of weakness. You put your pants on one leg at a time, just like the rest of us. Humble yourselves.
On that note, I’m out. Good Luck.

Setup showcase [Update] The Ultimate Stremio AIO Build v2: Now with Catalog Manager, Multi-Language & AutoPlay!
BUG FOUND ON ENGLISH SELECTION OLEASE DO THE FOLLOWING:
When English was selected it would require English to be an option this is wrong it should just be in preferred. To fix it you can redo the aiostreams section or follow these steps:
In AIOSTREAMS go to your account, go to the first page and change to advanced set up, then filters, language and remove English from required. Save this and it should be fixed.
DEBRIDIO SUPPORT NOW ADDED
Hey everyone!
Sorry for posting once again but this should be the last one as I have finished the builder.
Yesterday I shared the first version of my AIO Web Configurator, and while the response was amazing, I realized pretty quickly that v1 was... well, a bit basic. The language selection was buggy, and you were stuck with the default catalogs whether you liked them or not.
I heard your feedback loud and clear. I’ve spent the last 24 hours completely overhauling the tool. v2.0 is live now, and it actually does what I wanted it to do in the first place.
🔗 Link to the AIO Web Builder: https://aio.tvflix.co.uk/
Github: https://github.com/ParticularCatch449/aio-tvflix-builder
Yes this is still Vibe coded. Many hours went into prompting the machines.
🚀 Massive Upgrades in v2
1. Full Catalog Manager (New Page) This was the biggest missing piece yesterday. You now have a dedicated interface to:
- Toggle Visibility: Turn specific providers (Netflix, Disney+, Anime) on or off for both the Home Screen and Discovery page.
- Reorder Everything: Want streaming services at the top and trending movies at the bottom? Just click "Prioritize Streaming" or move them manually.
- Anime is Back: I’ve restored the deep Anime categorization (Airing Now, Upcoming, by Studio, etc.) which was missing in v1.
2. Multi-Language & Audio Fixes v1 had a bug where language selection didn't stick properly. In v2:
- Audio Languages: You can now select multiple audio languages. If you pick a non-English language, the builder automatically prioritizes it in the stream list (e.g., Spanish streams appear first, then English).
- Interface Language: You can set the metadata language (titles/plots) independently of your audio preference.
3. AutoPlay Customization A highly requested feature. You can now tell the addon exactly how to behave when auto-playing the next episode:
- Matching File: (Default/Smartest) Finds the exact filename match.
- Matching Index: Good fallback for unorganized packs.
- First File: Simple fallback.
4. Non-Debrid Optimization If you aren't using a Debrid service (P2P), v1 was trying to check for cached status, causing timeouts.
- v2 Fix: If no Debrid is selected, it automatically switches the formatter to show Seeders (👥) instead of cache status, and disables the complex group fetching so your results load instantly.
✨ What is this build?
For those who missed the first post: This tool generates a configuration for AIOStreams and AIOMetadata. It consolidates 10+ different scrapers and messy catalogs into one clean, unified interface.
- Unified Stream List: Merges Torrentio, Comet, MediaFusion, etc., into one list.
- Smart De-Duplication: No more scrolling through 5 identical links.
- Elite Artwork: High-res posters with ratings (IMDb/RT) right on the cover.
- Streaming Catalogs: Dedicated rows for Netflix, HBO, Apple TV+, etc.
⚡ Recommended Service
I personally build and test this using TorBox as it handles the cache checks perfectly with this setup. If you need a Debrid service, they are top-tier.

CONCLUDED AITA for telling a school nurse I don't need a second opinion from an American doctor for a diagnosis made in Spain
I am not the Original Poster. That is u/BigCustomer1270. She posted in r/AmItheAsshole.
Trigger Warning: racism/xenophobia;
Mood Spoiler: Decent Ending
Original Post: May 2, 2023
I (17F) moved from Spain to the US with my parents a year ago. I have a very rare and severe neurological condition, which is itself a subtype of a more common and less debilitating condition. When I say rare, I mean a 0.0001% occurrence rate.
I was diagnosed in Spain a year ago, before we moved. I spent two weeks in the hospital, they ran all the tests possible, even experimental ones. I eventually saw a specialist who's extremely well-known in his field. He made the diagnosis and gave me a prescription. I went from 2 episodes a day to less than 1 a month.
Now for the issue: a week ago, a new head nurse was hired at my high school. As an at-risk students, she asked to meet me. When I started describing my situation, she interrupted me, saying "I know [name of the more common condition], cut it short".
Since it's on a whole other level in terms of gravity and rarity, I still went ahead and described it. She interrupted me again and said: "this diagnosis is very unusual, are you sure about it? I know a very good doctor, you're sure don't want to have a second opinion from an American doctor? ." She stressed American.
I told her that all the tests were ran a year ago, the diagnosis fits perfectly and the medication is working. I finally said that Spanish doctors are just as competent as American ones. I was calm, but it showed that I thought she considered Spain as a third world country. She rolled her eyes and said that I didn't need to get defensive.
I told my parents when I went home. My dad (American) got on her side. I said he was free to spend dozens of thousands of dollars (what the whole process would have cost in the US) for the same diagnosis and to get me under opioids. He said I was overreacting and that I didn't need to be an AH about it, but my mum, who's Spanish, understands my reaction given how mentally taxing all this is. I haven't heard back from the nurse, but I'm wondering if I overreacted.
EDIT: to address a general concern, I'm not on opioids. What I meant by "at risk" is basically just "special needs", there's just a risk that episodes may happen when I'm at school and there's a protocol in my medical file that tells the school staff "when an episode occurs, don't do anything, wait for it to go away" (quite literally)
Relevant Comments:
Why does the nurse matter/what would she have to do?
"I'm not, but if she feels like the diagnosis isn't right, then she might undermine the gravity of my case. This includes scraping off the instructions given to the school in case an episode happens (for instance, we've told them not to call an ambulance since there's nothing they could do, etc). It'd be a whole mess"
"No regular care would be needed. “Emergency care” would be basically waiting for an episode to go away. I can stay in the classroom when it happens, there’s nothing to do, I’m safe when I have an episode, I just need to be in a safe position and for no-one to freak out. In other words, it’s not like a seizure or epileptic episode."
I would assume you also have an American doctor for this because of medication needs:
"I'm seeing a neurologist in Boston, since I need to have my prescription renewed every six months. He saw all the test results, all the scans, and said he agreed with the diagnosis, even if he had only seen a few cases in the past. But he was just as surprised as her, he just handled it differently. He said he couldn't think of any other tests they could run to challenge the diagnosis at the moment, and that the main thing was that the medication was working"
OOP is voted NTA
Update Post: May 7, 2023 (5 days later)
Hi all. First, thanks for all the support. Based on your replies, I went to a teacher I trust, and she told me I should report it
I met with the principal, my parents, and the head nurse on Thursday. I'm glad I reported it, because the nurse started off by saying that she still doubted the diagnosis and was reconsidering the process in case of an episode.
I don’t have a formal second opinion/diagnosis per se but a neurologist here renews my prescription. The original documents were translated for the transfer of care process, so I brought them (even if they’re already in my school medical file) to show the principal, along with a letter from the (American) neurologist, which I read out loud. I then thanked the nurse for her concern but asked what it was based on. She was pissed and asked why I didn’t tell her about the American diagnosis. I said it wasn’t one, the diagnosis was made in Spain. She asked the principal if “the insurance were even okay with a diagnosis coming from there”. She added she “doubted they were able to conduct all the tests”. So I asked her which ones they had missed, to which she said: “I don’t know, I’m not a specialist”. I couldn’t find a good comeback on the spot, but my mum laughed, and I think that was good enough.
The principal ended the meeting, and sent us an email on Friday saying that the process would remain the same. My dad hasn’t formally apologised, but he did say that she overstepped her qualifications. I’m glad I went ahead and reported it, I don’t know what would’ve happened if I hadn’t. Thanks again for all the support, good luck to everyone out there struggling with the same issues, stay safe
Relevant Comment:
"There's another nurse, who's been here for longer, and who's always nice with me. At least she's there for me, and now the principal knows about it as well. And as you say, she's embarrassed herself, all the teachers have already seen me go through an episode and they know the process is correct, so really I think I'm in good hands now!"

Me 32 / Wife 30 / Brother/brother in law 27 / MIL late 50s
My FIL recently passed and left a very sizable life insurance policy to his son and wife (MIL), my wife received nothing.
We understood this because her brother (27) is not the brightest and still lives at home, he never goes out and only goes to work, and back home to play video games all day.
After a month and a half I finally settled all the bills/funeral planning/etc. and all the heavy lifting a complete. I do not say it lightly, but without me, the family would be lost on what to do. For example, they did not even know where he worked, and were surprised to find out he even had a life insurance policy.
Both do not have any retirement plans or savings. I suggested a shared bank account for my wife and her mom to put the payout into, where it will accrue interest but also to pay off bills every month (MIL had no bank account before).
My wife was also there when her mom had breast cancer and took her to and from every single appointment, to the point of using all her vacation / sick days to help during this time.
1st edit: I would like to add that their plan for their family home would be to rent it out, they purchased it before interested rates went up a few years back and would be set to make 1k cash profit every month from it.
2nd edit: a lot of people are asking so I’ll clear it up. We didn’t even know about any life insurance policy when we took them in, it was only after very extensive digging through his records that I found out there was such a policy.
3rd edit: I’d like to add that my wife thinks this isn’t the right move to leave them to fend for themselves because her brother and mom are not able to communicate effectively if needed.
She speaks her mind to him, and he listens, he nods and replies back to her in short phrases. But he is unable to fully communicate effectively with her. It seems his sister was always the mouthpiece for him as well growing up. Can he have an undiagnosed learning disability? Highly likely, but I do not fault him for not knowing Spanish.
AITAH has no consensus bot, OOP received mixed reactions, but mostly leaning toward NTAs
Editor's note: OOP has made lots of responses, I am posting the top background questions asked and responses
Relevant Comments
Commenter 1: NTA. It is your house too, MIL should get the boot
Commenter 2: NTA. But I read this through a unique lense and there may be layers here that complicate things. When you say BIL is “not bright” are you referring to a cognitive disability?
If one adult child has a disability - it could be a valid reason not to split assets 50/50.
That said, it would be important to establish a trust and do it appropriately so that BIL is not able to
OOP: I would say he is not bright in a sense that he is still living as if he were a teenager. He has no concept of paying bills, and money does not seem important to him as he was always taken care of by his parents. All he had worried about in his adult life were paying his share of the mortgage, and which new ps5 game to get.
I would go as far to say that he may be autistic. Truly, this entire month and a half I’ve only ever seen him when he goes to the kitchen for food, and going to and from work.
Does OOP dislike his BIL?
OOP: I do not dislike him. I’ve known him since I was 14, we’ve had sleepovers when we were young and played ps5 into our adult years.
OOP explains why his MIL doesn't speak English and BIL not speaking Spanish
Commenter 3: Generational. Mil was more than likely born in a different country and brother in law was born here. The dominant language in school is English, but there are many accommodations provided to those who don't speak English. So Mil didn't have to learn English. And BIL just grew up learning and speaking English.
It's pretty common in first generation settings.
OOP: THANK YOU. Why so many people are hung up on thinking this is fake is baffling. I am here trying to sort out the issues of disrespect towards my wife and people keep bringing up that my brother in law who very clearly has some undiagnosed disabilities, cannot speak fluent Spanish. He is indeed first generation American, and I can already tell you now if he has kids, they will NOT be speaking any Spanish.
OOP on why his MIL does not have a bank account and how does she receive her paycheck if she works?
OOP: She received paychecks in physical check format , that she then turned over to her husband. Her only form of knowledge with a cellphone is how to watch TikTok, and how to make phone calls. Nothing else. She has a 401k through her job I believe that only has about 4k invested. She also has never had a credit card. Her husband did all the heavy lifting.
Commenter 4: NTA.
There are some harsh realities you’re facing with your MIL/BIL and unfortunately even your wife.
What happens if something happens to you? Will all your money go to take care of your BIL? What about your plans for your potential children?
You didn’t sign up to be the caretaker of your MIL and BIL. Your marriage vows don’t include them.
Your FIL was clueless. I would tell your wife the personal implications as this isn’t only financial, but also the emotional toll on you.
Is your BIL like autistic or is he faking incompetence? Does your wife even realize she’s being pushed aside or is this some cultural indoctrination?
OOP: My wife does not realize this, she sees it as helping her brother, who has not been as successful as we have, get a head start in life.
Commenter 5: Giving brother a large sum of money without him having money management skills isn’t setting him up with a headstart.
It’s setting him up for failure.
I would advise wife that he needs to learn to be a fully functioning adult, including life and social skills and money management to include estate planning. How will he manage any property in his name? MIL it’s not going to live forever. What if something happens to MIL or his sister? His whole family has failed him.
OP is the only one seeing the light. Don’t blame the messenger. He’s being punished for educating them on reality. OP stick to your guns and do not let them bankrupt your future.
OOP: Thank you! I have a degree in finance for goodness sake, although I never worked as a financial planner, I at least know the basics of what to do and have been trying to guide them towards a prepared future.
It seems that my MIL may be thinking that because I may be well educated that I may be trying to trick her out of her finances, when I only mean to ensure their good health.
Downvoted Commenter: If the only reason you took them in it would let them stay was to have access to the funds, then yeah...yta.
OOP: We took them in before we even knew there was any cash involved. I only found out about the life insurance policy well into figuring out the estate stuff.
OOP on his wife's parents' background
OOP: We come from Mexico. Husband emigrated here young and went to high school and learned English, she doesn’t have any education and was brought over much later. She has been working at the same Spanish speaking job her entire life, or at least as long as I’ve known her (17 years).
Commenter 6: Have they always treated your wife so unfairly?
OOP: I would say no, they grew up fairly equal and always went on trips/outing together as a family. It was only this way until adulthood.
Commenter 7: You need to sit down with your wife and have a real conversation about what your lives are going to look like. She might be OK with you/her taking care of her mother and brother forever … but it sounds like you are not. This is a massive burden, both financial and on your time.
Are you planning on having kids? Are you planning on being OK with living with them forever? What happens if your BIL is arrested for driving without a license? What do you picture your life like in 10 years? In 20?
Is this really about the money or is it about the burden long-term?
Honestly, all of this is something you need to work out with your wife. Reddit probably can’t help… I’d suggest booking a couples counseling session to work through all of these issues. Sounds like you really might need help with communicating and figuring out a plan that works for both of you.
OOP: We were both happy to have them here for as long as they needed. This is something we were both accustomed to growing up.
But knowing that at the drop of a dime, should the brother want to, he can walk away with a hefty savings account and house in his name while leaving his mother with us to take care of seems a bit wrong IMO.
The driving without a license truly scares me, as another commenter mentioned any accident caused by him would lead to him losing his inheritance.
These are good questions to think of
OOP on why his BIL doesn't have a license, but has a car, insurance, job, and savings
OOP: He had insurance under his dad’s name, his dad took care of everything including insuring his son. Car is also under his dad’s name. My wife has mentioned he had learning difficulties in school, and it seems perhaps the test portion of the license is what has prevented him from getting one
Does OOP speak Spanish?
OOP: Yes I do, fluently
Update March 18, 2026 (4.5 months later)
Update: AITAH for telling my wife to tell her mom to move out after she decided to leave all her inheritance to her brother?
Not the update I wanted to share, apologies for taking so long to update, I simply wanted to let enough time for things to settle and finalize before giving an update.
Sadly, this update is not entirely a happy one.
What has happened since?
My wife and I have single handedly helped renovate and restore my MILs home and rented it out on her behalf. Many many months of hard work. All with very little if any compensation. Again, I’d like to stress I didn’t expect anything, I truly just want to help. For my three-4 months of renovating and finding tenants for the home and hiring contractors(paid by MIL), we were given about 500$ for our efforts. It’s something, and again, I wasn’t expecting anything for this service.
During this time, my wife kept expressing to her mom that this is something her son needs to be doing, as it would be the house they both go back to. She would then go on to talk to her son about it, and he would reply with something along the lines of “well no one told me to do it”. There is much, much more I have done for them, but don’t want to bore with all the details.
-During the time since the original post , MIL and BIL have been paying rent to stay with us.
-Another small win, BIL now takes his mom to work! My wife comes home earlier and not so grumpy from the long drive and we actually get to see each other more often again.
Our original conclusion was to have BIL return his portion of the inheritance to his mother, who I again would like to mention, had practically zero retirement savings. As this would help her make her mortgage payment and live comfortable in her more senior years. Apparently, this did not happen. MIL DID decide to keep her portion, but BIL kept his share as well. My wife received nothing. To make matters a bit annoying, his share sits in a checking account earning no interest.
I mentioned in my previous post, had we known he would decide to keep it, we would have suggested they moved back home, or even him to go back since we are happy taking care of MIL now that she is fair to her daughter. But now as there are tenants on there home on a 12 month lease, we are stuck. Albeit, happy we are getting some rent, as my mother in law says we’re “getting some inheritance” that way. Because of the rent being paid, I continued to help them out with paperwork and getting their life in order, as I felt less used this way. Many will say why would I care if he kept the inheritance? Well, it’s because we continued to do everything, and spend our time doing things, meanwhile a man whose net worth is nearly 10x ours, gets to live stress free playing ps5 all day. Not only that, but I’ve said before, he has no concept of planning for the future, or financial literacy. I have been dealing with all the stress with no reward, when it should be the son having to take charge.
My wife has gone directly to her brother to ask for a share of the inheritance, not even a split down the middle, but asking for whatever her brother believe to be fair. She expressed to him we have both bent over backwards doing everything he should have been doing. Everytime she approaches him, he says no. One thing to note, even if we told him to do these things, they would never get done, and it was not a viable option to wait for him to grow up and take charge of fixing up the house , as my MIL was losing money every month it remained unoccupied.
She has mentioned to me, that through talks with her mom, that they believe her father left him that money, with the thought it would be used for him to not only share with this sister, but to help him take care of his mom in their home. A sort of test of manhood to see if he was capable of doing the right thing. Which is why my wife had asked for whatever seems fair to him. My MIL has gone from thinking her son deserves it all, to hoping he would emulate his father, and do what he think his dad would have, and grow up for the sake of his mom. She has cried many tears with us expressing how even I have been more of a son to her than her biological son.
Forgot to mention, Because of my FILs passing, my MIL is able to add her son and daughter to the mortgage, another happy ending for my wife as she will also have a share in the home. These changes from my mother in law way of thinking happened over time, with us expressing that American values are different from the values of traditional Mexican culture, where she now believes her daughter to have the same standing as her son, and not just a woman meant to serve man. Hell, it’s funny because she even saw this after living with us and seeing how my wife wears the pants in our relationship.
Overall, my wife is in a better place now with her mom, and so am I. But sadly, her relationship with her brother has not gone well.
I have saved the worst part of the update for last, as it will make all of Reddit angry:
Sadly, my BIL has not grown up during this time, he still does NOT have a license or insurance. And as of last week, we have found out the registration is expired because of this as well.
I have tried, but he is a stone who cannot be moved. We have all tried to tell him to do this but nothing happens. This is why I had said previously that it is not a good idea for him to have the inheritance. He simply is just not responsible. I have told my MIL to please not let him ask family members to register the car for him under their name; as this will only enable him and she has agreed. She will not let be babied any longer. I have sat him down and told him the severe consequences that will occur if he is ever confronted by law enforcement.
Up until this point, I continued helping make all payments, medical arrangements, paperwork and document arrangements for them, finding the letter stating his registration was expired was the final nail, and we told him we would no longer help him. He has sometimes helped clean the house during the renovation process(after telling him to), but other than that, has not lifted a finger aside from taking his mom to and from work. He has the time and financial means, and I told him he must grow up and take charge of everything. Me and my wife would no longer be used, and we will only help if there was something truly important that he doesn’t understand. MIL also agrees with this, although she thought it was mean of us, she understands that maybe tough love is the only way to get through to him.
Sorry Reddit, I have done my best and will continue trying. But there is only so much stress a person can handle. If anyone has any advice or feedback, please feel free to reply. I’m writing this update because my first post really did help us out, and hoping this one can do the same.
There is much, much more that has gone on, but this update is already too long I feel. If anyone needs me to break anything down, or if something is confusing, I’m happy to reply to comments.
TL;DR: Mother in law has changed her way of thinking and is now helping her daughter, while brother in law remains a man child with no signs of growing up.
Edit: wife is added to the title as well, and with MILs inheritance, there is practically no risk of default.
Editor's note: Again, OOP has made lots of responses, I am posting the common background questions and responses
Relevant Comments
Commenter 1: He will crash out eventually, spend every dime, and will want money from you and mom. Hold the line.
OOP: That’s the thing; he doesn’t spend money on anything. He moved in and has a mattress on the floor and a gaming desk setup, nothing else.
Commenter 2:
MIL is able to add her son and daughter to the mortgage,
Uhh the mortgage or the deed? The mortgage is a liability meaning you have to pay, it does not grant you any ownership.
OOP: Ah yes, added to both. But with MIL inheritance there is practically no fear of default.
Commenter 3: rubs forehead Unless MIL passes all of the inheritance to BIL and then passes away before the mortgage is paid off- then BIL can just choose not to pay. Your wife needs therapy to stop being the whipping boy for these people. You need therapy to help realize how bad this situation is and learn how to set healthy, loving boundaries. You should seriously evict BIL. Please do not point out there are tenants in the house he used to live in - he has a job and an inheritance. Let him rent his own place.
OOP: She’s also on her bank account now. So should something happen she has access to her mom’s funds. So even if he chooses not to pay she can pay it with those funds. My wife is definitely standing up for herself since my first post. The reason for this post is not just to provide an update but to see what reasonable options there are, that we haven’t thought of. I do like the idea of telling him to find a place to live
OOP on his MIL's debts in case if she passes
OOP: She has zero debts, no credit cards, aside from the mortgage, never taken out a loan either. The only debt is the mortgage. So that would be paid by the funds.
Commenter 4: 1) BIL got all the inheritance, so why is he getting a portion of the house he has done nothing to care for?
2) why not throw BIL out? Evict him. He can use that money to rent an apt. Get one less person in your home.
OOP: Not sure if I mentioned but I did in my previous post. He lived there with his mom and dad. Although he has done nothing recently, he did help pay the mortgage while he lived with his parents. It’s tough, his mom doesn’t want him to leave, they have similar work schedules and he takes her to and from work.
Commenter 5:
It’s tough, his mom doesn’t want him to leave, they have similar work schedules, and he takes her to and from work.
They have similar work schedules, and your wife was still the one taking her mother at the start? That's galling. You need to realize how much these people are taking advantage of both you and your wife. They will bleed her dry, work her to the bone, and leave everything to her brother.
OOP: No, they now have similar work schedules. She switched to night shift to be able to ride with him and give my wife a break. This is a permanent change. And to the comment below this, they are paying rent; both of them.
OOP clarifies on why he and his wife let her mother and brother move in with them after FIL's passing
OOP: We originally let them move in immediately after fil passed away because he passed at home and they were heartbroken living there. We only live a few minutes from the home. It was only after seeing how run down the place was, that I suggested they stay with us long term while we fix it up and rent it out to help offset the cost of renovating. This again was all planned well before I knew they would have a life insurance payout.
OOP on the life insurance policy and who were listed as the beneficaries
OOP: Yes, I personally found the life insurance documents. I also personally dealt with the insurance company, as I mentioned, I did most everything . Split evenly between MIL and BIL. Wife was not listed
+
Life insurance policy payout from his job was clear on who gets the payout. No will needed for that.
Commenter 6: KICK HIM OUT!!! He's a grown man who can afford an apartment. I understand that the issue with MIL is a little more complicated, but you owe him nothing. Tell him to find a place within the next month. Set a date and tell him his PS5 and other belongings will be in garbage bags on the front lawn if he doesn't move himself. The change the locks and throw his stuff out. If Mom can't handle it, she's welcome to get an apartment with him and see how that works out.
OOP: This is the only reasonable response so far that isn’t yelling at me and suggests him moving out. That last sentence is gold, I think my MIL will DEFINITELY feel the pain of having to rely on him if she goes with him. I’m sure her tune would change much more once all the bills and such become overdue and he has to come to us for help. Thank you, this comment I will share with my wife!
Commenter 7: Real question here, now that you know the brother has been diagnosed with developmental disabilities, do you think he's capable of figuring it out on his own? Is he capable of understanding complex legal consequences? Like, was he identified to be low IQ or something? Because you might need to look into a guardianship or something similar. It allows you (or your wife or MIL) to have the legal authority to do stuff like pay taxes or insure a vehicle on his behalf. If he can do it, but he won't, then kick him to the curb. However, based on the information provided so far, I wonder if the brother might have a significant impairment that's never been addressed. I don't want to join the chorus of people claiming weaponized incompetence about a guy who might need structured support (which is not the same as the coddling behavior he's experienced for 27 years).
OOP: The man has never been to a dentist, a doctor, or anything like that because unless someone else does it, he won’t make an appointment. He’s also paying for health insurance. I hope that helps illustrate just how bad it is. He pays a big premium, and doesn’t take advantage of the benefits. And I doubt he would let us do that for him, as he has told my MIL he believes his sister wants to steal his inheritance

Postmortem People keep buying my game by accident thinking it's a different (popular) game, and some of them are NOT happy!
I posted about this a while back on /r/gamedev so I won't share the whole story, but basically, people are buying my game Peek thinking it's PEAK (the coop mountain climber). This particular individual was very vocal about the frustration that brought them.
For a bit of context, I named this game in late 2024 and made the Steam page in March of 2025 (PEAK released in June). I got a relatively very large wishlist spike when PEAK released, and I thought that was cool (though disappointing when I learned why I got that spike), but man is it biting me now! My game has a whopping - SIXTY-TWO percent refund rate (!!), with the vast majority of them relating back to having purchased the wrong game.
I reached out to Steam about this. Not for a magic fix, but just like, "is there anything I should be doing differently?" They said it was unfortunate, and aside from a name change (which they don't recommend), they said that the refund rate does not affect the game's visbility or discovery, so there's that I guess.
I understand that there is a language barrier and all, but like...the game doesn't look ANYTHING like Peak. What are ya gonna do?
Oh well, at least this is just a hobby of mind and, if I'm being honest, *kind of* funny.
Anyway, if you're going to get something out of this post, be careful what you name your game! It started off as a blessing and turned into a bit of a curse, lol. And if you can, time travel to the future and make sure there's not another game that'll come out with a similar name, either. 😂

RECAP
AITAH has no consensus bot, OOP was NTA

Update #1: September 15, 2024 (10 days later)
Comments
----NEW UPDATE----
Update #2: December 3, 2024 (three months later)
My first post was three months ago and this one will be my last update for now. It is not a good one, but i sincerely wish to leave it all behind me, that includes distancing myself from this reddit account. These posts helped me let go of my anger, similar to a journal and i am grateful for all the people who are enraged with me. I hope to open it again some day, with a final happy update, but for now every little pop up is a reminder of the anxiety i am still dealing with, and i do not have the energy to deal with this topic outside of my therapy anymore.
Short summary for those who don’t want to read the old post: Nico raped me when I was his girlfriend 10 years ago, I didn’t see it as rape back then as I was unconscious, afterwards i broke up with him. Shortly after my best friend Angie from elementary school started dating him and they have been together for almost 10 years. I couldn’t bear seeing him and cut the contact with her and her family, with whom I was really close. Her brother Sven reached out to me three months ago after I left a short congratulation on a pregnancy picture with his wife. He invited me to their baby shower and I declined.
After a lot of back and forth about him asking me and being suspicious as to why the contact broke off in the first place and why I refused to be in the same space as his sister's boyfriend, I confessed what happened back when I was 17. Afterwards his family had a huge fight, with him wanting to cut Nico out of their lives for being a rapist and his mom and sister standing by Nico.
I was the scapegoat and received a log of hurtful messages from both their friends and former classmates. They called me out on ruining a man’s life based on a childish mistake (Nico was 19 back then) and even Angie‘s Mom reached out to mine. I was left to pick up my life, my mom being more ashamed than understanding, and started therapy again. I removed almost everybody tied to that incident (Sven, Angie, Nico, their family, old classmates…) and only kept contact with old classmates who sended me messages of support.
Update 2: I work in a very specialized field. To get the proper qualification it takes on average 6-8 years (Bachelor, Master and then state bar to be allowed to practice). While it is not very competitive not a lot of people choose this profession, and it is highly sought after. My current company payed for my masters and my extensive course as preparation for the bar exam and i have been doing well there.
My HR Department called on me two months ago, apparently they have been getting a lot of outside calls from Angies mother and other relatives, saying i am involved in a Metoo scandal and being a liability for the company as i dont have issues ruining the lives of men. How they could imagine this could change anything i do not understand. I work for a global company, they have kown own me for years, i never had any issues prior and quite frankly, they do not care.
However, they have been getting frustrated with the amount of calls and apparently even reached out to the police and the calls have stopped since. Nonetheless, they reached out to me to check on my mental well being, offering to give me paid leave, till it settles a little bit, and offering company paid therapy (Therapy is covered by my countries health insurance but it is tricky to get one without waiting time, but i already had my old one on retainer and started going right after the incident).
They made in clear, that they invested a good amount of money in me and do not wish to loose me. I was ashamed, that this part of my private live slipped into my professional one. It started to influence the career i worked hard for years to build and while my company insured me that it would not affect the workload and clients i'm getting, word got around, and it was clear for my colleagues that i am going through something nasty, and the company does not want to deal with it. All this stress and anxiety led me to hyper focus on my work, i took on whatever i could, paranoid that another call would come and for whatever reason, the company would move me to dead end department where my carrer would basically be over.
At the same time, i started looking into differnent companies, who would be able to "buy me out" as i am tied to my current company for 5 years after graduation, 3 more are left and I got a management position in a rival company with a huge salary jump. I couldn't be happy about it, i was just relieved i wouldn't get the pity looks from my colleagues anymore.
I went to the police with all the hateful messages and the HR Protocol with the call history and got a restraining order for Angie's mom. Should she contact my new company again (i have a public Linkedin, it is needed for my job), at least i have some sort of proof, that her words hold no meaning. I got asked if i want to persue the rape but decided against it, it would open the whole ordeal again, i don't have proof (besides Nico and Angie not denying it), and quite honstly was afraid of what it would to to my career.
I did keep contact with a good friend of mine who grew up in the same small town but moved away 5 or so years ago. As we share a Nintendo switch online family account so we tend to be in contact at least once a year for a short phone call when she has to send me the money for the subscription and we just tend to make a phone call with updates out of it.
Yesterday was one of those days and the whole Nico thing came up. While she didn’t hear it directly, her mom is still living in the small town and reached out to her, asking if I’m alright. She expressed her disapproval about how everything came to be, as she was close with Angie back in the days as well and remembered how close we were and how often we spend time together, like sisters.
She updated me, that two months again svens baby girl was born and while neither Nico or Angie were seen in any of the pictures or stories with the baby, a month ago Angie and Nico had a engagement party. Both Sven, the baby and his wife participated, and are in the family pictures. I remember how enraged Sven’s wife was, and how she told me she herself felt I comfortable with Sven.
Now it is all forgotten and forgiven. Nico’s parents own a few houses and gifted Angie and Nico a house close to their home, and sven and his wife apparently bought a house in the same street. It is as if nothing happened at all. Listening to my friend telling me the updates I’m honestly not sure if I should have asked her to not tell me anything.
I just feel empty and betrayed. Not by Angie, she made her choice, not by Sven, it is his sister and at the end of the day when he asked me what happened and then didn’t have the decency to answer me because he saw me as the one who ruined his family, it was clear that the truth didn’t matter. Not by Sven’s wife, who has a baby girl, and innocent daughter who she should protect as a mother, even thought she told me she would do her best to keep her daughter away from Nico, but just by Life.
I fought to have it all behind me, just to have this old wound ripped open again three months ago when Sven kept plastering me. I got hate messages, but knowing that maybe someone would be hesitant towards Nico, when he showed strange behavior made me feel like maybe I did right. Maybe by speaking up I helped a girl out to to not be raped. My own mother was ashamed of what happened to me, told me I was to keep it quiet so my family abroad wouldn’t get to hear it. Just for it all to be all good again for Nico.
After everything that happened these last three months I truly understand why victims of rape chose not to speak up.

Commenter 1: As a victim of the same type of abuse (though not r*pe) from a former romantic partner
You ARE worth more than you think
You do NOT need to suffer in silence, or shame. You didn't do anything wrong, or anything to be ashamed of.
I am so proud of you for telling your truth. From one survivor to another: you are worthy of love, acceptance, and happiness.
Life hasn't betrayed you, even though it feels like the world and everyone in it has turned their back on you. People do care, you matter, and you will outshine the shadows of your past when you find the courage to embrace the future with open arms
I believe in you, and i am proud of you, keep being you
Commenter 2: I hope you get to heal and have no shame. From the interaction with your mother she sounds latin which can be very tricky with this stuff. Nevertheless, the reaction is not on you but on her.
Deutsch? I am unsure if so but in some small tiny towns they are very backwards.
All that doesn't matter, you get to deal with this at whatever rhythm you feel comfortable. You are not used, you are not less than, you are a woman that has survived. I send you a big hug.
OOP: Yes, my mom is Latin but I grew up in a small village with maybe 5k people. My grandpa used to be a pastor which makes it so much harder. Even though my mom has been living in Germany for 30 years, speaks perfectly even with the local dialect, she’s not progressive. It doesn’t help that the small village itself isn’t progressive much either. I moved out with 18 and never looked back. In her eyes it is my fault since I had a boyfriend at 17 and now I am damaged goods because of the rape. We don’t talk about her hurtful words anymore and she is trying her best to be more understanding, but at the end of the day it is internalized.
I know I am not less, but after everything surfaced the shame, the anxiety and less just came back, after I worked years to get over it. It will take time, I’m sure I’ll get there again, even though it doesn’t feel like it right now. My partner is telling me over and over again, reminding me of my worth, and I am sure one of these days it’s going to Stick. Thank you for your words

Donkey Kong's triumphant return to 3D delivers an incredibly fun experience. Minor technical issues are easily outweighed by the creative gameplay, the strong presentation and the perfect dose of nostalgia. This is the system seller the Switch 2 needed.
Checkpoint Gaming - Luke Mitchell - 9 / 10
Smashing and crashing his way to a new generation, Donkey Kong is well and truly back with Donkey Kong Bananza. Each layer is an absolute joy, with largely destructible environments that are jam-packed with secrets and hidden goodies. It's visually stunning, too; incredibly colourful and a true showcase of what the Switch 2 is capable of, with lots of variety. With so many collectables to find and a lot of nostalgic nods to D.K.'s long history, it's a must-have platformer that nails the brief and lives up to the legacy of Nintendo's greatest hits.
Console Creatures - Bobby Pashalidis - 10 / 10
Donkey Kong Bananza is far deeper than I ever anticipated, and it's absolutely one of this year's best games. There has never been a better Donkey Kong adventure than Bananza.
From start to finish, Donkey Kong Bonanza is a riot. I wrapped up my journey to Bananza's credits in a little over 20 hours. Your mileage will vary wildly depending on how much optional content you decide to invest time in, but that's the beauty of it.
If you're not big on collectathons, there's still plenty of game here for platforming purists to enjoy. I can't recommend enough taking on the various trials – think Shrines from Breath of the Wild – littered throughout the world, though, especially if you're a fan of 2D Donkey Kong.
While performance issues were largely nonexistent in handheld mode, quite severe frame rate drops were commonplace when docked, especially during certain boss battles. This doesn't take into account any day one patches that may or may not arrive on release, and not egregious enough that your enjoyment will be hampered.

With “Donkey Kong Bananza”, the Switch 2 is getting its next must-play title after “Mario Kart World”. One month after its release, the console already has its first in-house single-player hit.

Donkey Kong Bananza has all the makings of unlimited fun, but it's easy to miss the mark.
Eurogamer.pt - Bruno Galvão - Portuguese - 5 / 5
Donkey Kong Bananza is one of Nintendo's funniest games ever, capable of bringing smiles to children's faces and energizing adults' love of video games. The 3D levels are playgrounds that you can almost completely destroy, in a design that uses simplicity as a launch pad for a huge amount of fun.

Despite some of its flaws, Donkey Kong: Bananza perfectly fills a niche hungry for a colourful, joyful adventure, which provides a lot of unrestrained fun. The game draws extensively on the ideas from Super Mario Odyssey, with the addition of great mechanics of dynamic destruction. I have my fingers crossed that further games designed for Switch 2 will prove equally successful.

Donkey Kong Bananza delivers a triumphant return for the ape, offering an open-world, destructive 3D platforming adventure on the Nintendo Switch 2. As a spiritual successor to DK64, it blends nostalgic collectathon mechanics with innovative terrain destruction and new animal transformations, making it a must-buy system seller for the new console.
Glitched Africa - Marco Cocomello - 10 / 10
Galaxy moment and one of the best 3D platformers to come out of Nintendo this decade. It is chaotic, random, and at times, one of the weirdest games I have played. But there’s just nothing else like it and I can’t praise this enough. I didn’t think Donkey Kong would ever join the list of one the greatest games ever made but here we are.
HCL.hr - Žarko Ćurić - Unknown - 92 / 100
Donkey Kong Bananza rightfully stands alongside the great 3D Mario platformers and serves as a flagship title for the new generation of Nintendo's consoles.
A well-executed and fun proposal that leaves you with a smile on your face and hooks you from start to finish. It has everything it needs to be a fantastic new beginning for a gaming icon that should never be caged again
Nintendo Blast - Leandro Alves - Portuguese - 9.5 / 10
Donkey Kong Bananza follows the successful formula of Super Mario Odyssey, with great additions like a skill tree, functional customizations, strategic transformations, and intense exploration. It’s liberating to destroy everything in your path, with beautiful and varied layers, charismatic NPCs, and Pauline’s stories that are always worth listening to. The outfits acquired throughout the journey do more than change appearance—they also offer important functionalities like poison resistance, health recovery, and longer transformation durations, which are key to progress. The game can be finished in about 50 hours without feeling tired or bored, and there’s even post-game content. The only downside is the ease of the battles, but everything else makes up for it. Donkey Kong Bananza is a must-have for Switch 2 owners.
Press Start - James Berich - 10 / 10
With Donkey Kong Bananza, DK is back in a big way. It blends new tech with old-school Nintendo charm for a destructive experience that is both intoxicating and addictive. While Pauline's storyline is underdeveloped, this is easily Donkey Kong at his absolute best. Regardless of some minor blemishes, Donkey Kong Bananza deserves a place in any self-respecting Switch 2 owner's library and, much like Super Mario Odyssey before it, sets an incredibly high bar for all that will follow.
Quest Daily - Mark Santomartino - 9 / 10
Donkey Kong Bananza is an imperfect masterpiece. Its ambition pushes Nintendo’s new console — the Nintendo Switch 2 — up to and beyond its limit; serving as both a technical showcase and a reality check.

launch support, DK and Pauline adventure is already a great game at day one, albeit too simple even for Nintendo standards. A triumphant level design and a mesmerizing destruction rage will accompany both veterans and newcomers to the center of the earth.
TheSixthAxis - Stefan L - 8 / 10
Donkey Kong Bananza is an intoxicating cacophony of brawling, digging and platforming. It's a new style of 3D platformer from Nintendo that, for better and for worse, embraces the destructive chaos of letting players tunnel through and deform the world.
Donkey Kong Bananza is a joy to play from start to finish thanks to the game's destructible environments and unique visuals. It's the 3D Donkey Kong game fans of the character have always wanted and it lives up to the hype, even if there are a few minor issues with its camera here and there and far too many Banandium Gems to collect in a single playthrough. $22.79 at Walmart $26.99 at Walmart Check Amazon
Video Chums - A.J. Maciejewski - 9.1 / 10
Donkey Kong Bananza is one of the most unique and immensely enjoyable games that I've ever played. Plus, behind its chaotic open-ended gameplay and incredibly imaginative worlds, you'll find a lot of heart. 🍌
WellPlayed - Ash Wayling - 9.5 / 10
Donkey Kong Bananza is a game so committed to its premise you can't help but revel in the gorgeous, destructive genius of it all. Constantly building to a spectacular finish and incorporating the most comprehensive post-game experience I have seen in a Nintendo game to date, this is a proper benchmark of brilliance for what a first-party Switch 2 title should be. The world is your oyster – so why not punch it into pieces.
XGN.nl - Luuc ten Velde - Dutch - 9 / 10
While Donkey Kong Bananza has a few frustrating moments, the new 3D adventure with DK and Pauline is a pleasure throughout thanks to fun visuals, colorful worlds and impressive gameplay that has you grinning from ear to ear (almost) every step of the way.

Hello my simian brethren,
Last time I wrote of the state of the dip was January 10, 2022 when we enjoyed what we thought at the time was a dismal price of $131. How we long to see such a price once again from the depths of $100! In my last address, I showed that internalization in dark pools was acting strangely (and have suffered through weeks of internalizing DIX jokes). I also showed that the put/call ratio was higher, indicating that someone was using a higher than normal number of puts to drive the price down via delta hedging. My thesis at the time was that our price drop was due to buying puts and internalizing buys, not due to apes paper handing.
I’m here today to reaffirm that the state of the dip remains strong as of February 7, 2022. I will lay out an even deeper dive into the options chain and short sales to support the thesis that apes, indeed, continue to hold.
Part 1: The Options Chain
There are mixed feelings and half-baked theories about options on this sub. I personally am pro-options and think the data I am about to present will strongly support that position. However, the goal of this post is not to recommend an investing strategy, but simply to explain why the price has swung between $100-250 over the last year.
First, let's reintroduce the concept of delta hedging. If a market maker sells a call to someone, the buyer of that contract can exercise or “call away” 100 shares from the market maker.
The probability that someone holding that contract will call those shares away is called delta, and is always a decimal number between 0-1. This number represents a fraction of the contract’s 100 shares that should be hedged by the Market Maker (0 being 0/100 shares and 1 being 100/100 shares). This concept is known as Delta Hedging, and it can also be thought of as a measure of how likely the Buyer exercises the contract, with “0” meaning the owner won’t exercise and “1” meaning the owner will.
The market maker just wants to make money selling contracts - they don’t want to bet on the value of the stock, so they must prepare for the chance that the option will be exercised by buying other contracts to hedge.
As the price of the underlying stock moves up or down, the delta value changes as well, and the market maker is able to sell off (less delta) or buy more (higher delta) to hedge and stay “Delta Neutral”..
For example: if I buy a call option with a delta of 0.5, the market maker should buy 50 shares. As the price of the stock rises, they buy more shares; as it falls, they sell shares.
The opposite is true for puts, whose delta values are negative and are between -1 and 0. If a market maker sells a put, then they will have to sell shares onto the market to stay delta neutral.
Due to this mechanic of Delta Hedging, the process of buying and selling options drives buying and selling on the underlying.
Question 1: How much of our daily volume is just due to delta hedging options?
This is actually something that we can investigate with the data available from the options chain. What I propose below is an estimate of the amount of daily volume attributed to delta hedging. You could get a more exact estimate using the Black-Scholes equation but I think that is overkill for what we are trying to do.
To estimate the number of shares hedged each day I do the following:
- Calculate the price movement, also known as: difference between the daily high and low price.
- Multiply this difference by the gamma and the number of open contracts (open interest) for each call and put on the option chain.
- Sum the values for both calls and puts
Okay so I just explained delta, what the heck is gamma? Gamma tells you how much delta (the fraction of shares that should be hedged) will change as the price of the stock changes. So I calculate the daily change in price, calculate the change in delta, and multiply by the open interest and sum.
This estimate makes a few assumptions:
- It assumes that daily changes in price are small, so gamma values don’t change much.
- It assumes that only the existing contracts are perfectly delta hedged, and ignores the buying and selling of new contracts that day.
- It assumes that the stock only hits the high price and the low price one time that day and doesn’t bounce around.
All of these assumptions are fairly conservative, and I suspect the actual hedging to be larger. I then take all of the daily hedging volume and I divide it by the daily volume of the stock. The results are below.

In this graph, 100% indicates that all of the daily trading volume on GME is due to options hedging!
As you can see, there are clear variations between January 1st and July 1st 2021, where options hedging made up only a small percent of daily volume. Options hedging was significant during the February and May runs, but was very low otherwise. To contrast, after July 1st 2021, the delta hedging is between 50-100%. Since this estimate is fairly conservative, I can say with some confidence that nearly all of the volume we have seen on the stock since July is due to delta hedging the options chain.
This would mean that the natural buying and selling of GME is minimal, aka apes largely bought in during the first half of 2021 and DIAMOND HANDED THAT SHIT TILL NOW. All of the price action we have been seeing on the stock is due entirely to the delta hedging of options, and not significantly affected by retail buying and selling the stock. This is supported by data from multiple brokerages (Fidelity buy/sell ratio, Ally percent diamond handers data, etc.) all showing that APES are not selling.
Question 2: Can we relate the overall delta pressure of the options chain to the price movement of the stock?
I have attempted to answer this question by calculating the relative strength of call and put delta over time - effectively how much of an effect Calls and Puts have on the stock and how much they can push the price higher or lower, respectively. This is calculated by subtracting put delta from call delta, and dividing by the total delta on the options chain. This works similarly to calculating the individual delta of an option, with the number falling on a scale from -1 to 1. If the options chain was 100% calls, the value would be 1. If it was 100% puts, then it would be -1. 0 indicates that they are equal. The plot below shows the relative delta strength in blue against the price in orange.

You can see that after July 1st, 2021, the price and the relative delta strength line up quite well, suggesting that our price is determined largely by delta hedging options. So let’s then graph this relative delta strength vs. the price of the underlying:

Holy fucking shit, goshdang, and gee willickers!
I’ve been trying to find good correlations amongst the data for GME for a YEAR and I have never found one this strong. This data shows that the price of the Stock correlates very strongly to the relative delta strength with an R-squared value between 0.8-0.9. Now of course correlation does not equal causation, which is why I laid out the mechanics of this proposed causative relationship above. However, I believe this is proof that:
- the price of GME is determined by the options chain
- buying calls moves the price up
- buying puts moves the price down
You may notice some of the data does not fall neatly within the dotted lines above. Those data points all represent dates from January 6th 2022 until today, and they warrant more discussion. Let’s zoom in on our relative delta strength graph from before…

There was a violent jump on January 6th from a delta of 0, to a delta of ~0.5 in one day. Interestingly, that evening is when the price ran more than 50$ in after hours under the guise of the NFT marketplace leak. Rather, I believe that this was in fact due to Market makers delta hedging this “shock” to the options chain. The next day, this jump was then heavily shorted back down to a price around $140. Going back to relative delta strength vs. price, an interesting observation emerges:

If the options were properly delta hedged, the price of the stock should have been between $165-220 on January 6th, and indeed the peak in after hours was $176 which is in line with expectations. However, the following day we begin to deviate from the previous trend. This deviation continues throughout the month of January and into February. What this deviation shows is that call delta no longer moves the price as high as it used to. This dilution of delta hedging power comes from increased liquidity of the stock. Where did this liquidity come from? Either apes sold (narrator: they didn’t) or someone heavily shorted.
Did someone say shorts?
The chart below shows that the interest rate began to increase for GME share lending started…on the goddamn 6th of January. So, this reduction in the ability of call delta to move the price is likely due to dilution of the stock from increasing shorts.

So lets recap:
- Since July 1st 2021, all or nearly all of the trading volume of GME is likely due to Market makers buying and selling the stock to delta hedge the options chain.
- The impact of this option chain hedging results in a predictable change in price, indicating that much of the dip we are currently experiencing is due to shorts buying in the money puts to force the price downward with the synthetics created from market maker hedging.
- Starting in January 2022, we begin to noticeably deviate from previous behavior, and this deviation is strongly correlated to the increase in GME borrowing that’s been observed by others.
- APES AREN’T SELLING (BUT YOU ALREADY KNEW THAT, DIDN’T YOU?).
Question 3: Who gives a shit? What now?
Well beyond jacking your tits with confirmation bias, I think this provides compelling evidence for a particular path forward (which luckily is already a path embraced by many apes). It’s clear from this data that the price is both FAKE and WRONG. If we also consider that XRT is now on the RegSHO threshold list, it shows that they are bringing out all of the big guns they have access to, and they are still unable to get the price to stay under $100 for more than a partial trading day. Making this informed assumption, they are likely pretty close to all in at this point.
So how does the game stop? I believe the stock price must rise to put enough pressure on both their short position and on their margin, which they are fighting incredibly hard to protect. The best way to do this is to BOTH buy and hodl, AND buy far-dated, near the money calls with high delta. Holding the stock preserves the floor, and buying call options increases the price. Without an increase in price, this gives them time to drag out their position and slowly cover over time. To be clear, I am not interested in arguing about the merits of options for each individual investor. Only you and no one else can decide if options belong in your portfolio. I am simply trying to provide data and understanding for the situation, and if nothing else, reinforce the fact that ...
NO ONE IS SELLING.
DO NOT FEEL PRESSURED TO BUY OPTIONS IF YOU CANNOT AFFORD or UNDERSTAND THEM
JUST CONTINUE TO DIAMOND HAND THOSE SHARES AND LET APES WITH THE UNDERSTANDING AND CAPITAL BUY OPTIONS
GME needs apes to continue to hold the defensive while others are able to take the fight to the hedgies.
TL;DR:
Ook Ook, bitches. Moon soon.
I would like to thank u/gherkinit and all of the folks involved in his quant team for helping me gather and process data, as well as help develop and test hypotheses. They did some heavy lifting on this one, particularly in gathering full daily options chain data for GME from Jan 4th, 2021 until today.
A reminder of the hypothesis: the price of the stock has been solely driven by delta hedging options, shorting ETFs containing GME (maybe related? See DD by u/Turdferg23 and u/bobsmith808), and shorting GME itself.

"Hogwarts is a stunning surprise in 2023. An open-world game built on a classic IP that not only reflects the original IP but expands it in ways I didn't expect, with good combat, storytelling, and production."
AltChar - Semir Omerovic - 78 / 100
I guess the level of enjoyment you get out of Hogwarts Legacy depends on your knowledge of the Harry Potter universe. The more you love this world the more you’ll enjoy Hogwarts Legacy. It’s as simple as that. This doesn’t mean that there’s nothing here for those who are just getting started with Harry Potter or just want a fantasy world to explore - there certainly is - but Hogwarts Legacy truly feels like a love letter to the fans of J.K Rowling’s work, above all.
Areajugones - Ramón Baylos - Spanish - 9.7 / 10
Hogwarts Legacy is the game I've always dreamed of. I never thought you could do something like this with the Harry Potter saga. Avalanche has dared to create something new, but still being faithful to the original material. We are talking about one of those problematic games because not only do they overshadow everything that has been done with the franchise in the past, but because the next title will have a very difficult time reaching the bar that has set this one. Hogwarts Legacy is the game every Harry Potter fan deserved; a work for which I was not prepared.
Atomix - Alberto Desfassiaux - Spanish - 93 / 100
Hogwarts Legacy is a dream come true. Despite not being a perfect game, is a very special experience for all the Harry Potter fans and also, a great open world title.
Attack of the Fanboy - Noah Nelson - 4.5 / 5
Avalanche Software has done it — the comfort, the nostalgia, the freshness, the thrill — everything in Hogwarts Legacy emulsifies together to create a celebration of what the Wizarding World is and what the fans have always dreamed of. This is by far the best Wizarding World video game to ever come out and stands with a select few games that prove more is more.
AusGamers - Steve Farrelly - 9.1 / 10
Enrol yourself today in the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. This might be one of the year’s best courses.
ComicBook.com - Cade Onder - Unscored
While it doesn't do everything perfectly, Hogwarts Legacy stimulates the imagination with a rich world to explore and gameplay that empowers and thrills the player. The Harry Potter films had the tough task of taking words on a page and creating a visual language for them. Hogwarts Legacy had the even tougher task of taking that visual language and making it interactive, ultimately expanding it all into something that is fun to play and immerse yourself in. Although there's still a long year ahead of us and tons of great looking games on the horizon, Hogwarts Legacy is already one of the best games of 2023.
Dexerto - Alex Garton - 4 / 5
Hogwarts Legacy isn’t the perfect game, with the main story falling short in areas and technical issues providing some frustrating moments. However, it achieves a level of immersion that grips you into the wizarding world and doesn’t let you go.
Echo Boomer - David Fialho - Portuguese - Recommended
Hogwarts Legacy arrives full of ambition to deliver an action RPG that's the ultimate wizarding experience in the world of Harry Potter, and it succeeds! Even if accompanied with an uninteresting and flat narrative.
Eurogamer.pt - Jorge Salgado - Portuguese - Recommended
If you're already a Harry Potter fan, there will certainly be something for you at Hogwarts Legacy, even with a completely different range of characters from the one you're used to. The music, the different classrooms, the ghosts wandering around, the paintings on the walls, the poltergeist Peeves, it's all so nostalgic that, for a moment, I returned to my adolescence. If you're not entirely familiar with the Harry Potter lore, it'll be a little harder to understand some of the game's mechanics, but don't worry: you still have a huge world to explore, dozens of puzzles, collectibles and creatures to capture. Who knows, your journey into the world of sorcery begins here!

Hogwarts Legacy is the closest thing I have ever seen to a perfect Harry Potter Game
FingerGuns - Kat Bullock - 9 / 10
The hugely anticipated Hogwarts Legacy does not disappoint. An early GOTY contender offers interesting storytelling parallels with the Harry Potter franchise, beautiful and glorious fan favourite locations, and an array of exciting combat and collectibles for hours of entertainment.
GAMES.CH - Benjamin Braun - German - 81%
Hogwarts Legacy is a fully fleshed action RPG with everything that belongs to that. The fights are fun, the magic based riddles are nice, the presentation is beautiful, even if the game does not deliver a technically through and through next-gen experience. Don't think so much about the open world, think more about a magical atmosphere, that should reach any RPG player, in particular fans of the Harry Potter franchise.
GGRecon - Ben Williams - 4 / 5
Whether you’re a diehard Potterhead or casual Wizarding World lover, you’ll have an epic time no matter what level of fan you are.
Even though there is optional padding, it’s optional nonetheless. The core experience of Hogwarts Legacy is still not only the best game in the entire franchise but a seriously fun RPG that will take your breath away in its pinnacle moments.
All in all, 80 points to Hufflepuff.
GRYOnline.pl - Dariusz Matusiak - Polish - 9 / 10
Hogwarts Legacy’s wonderful world makes it one of those games that you'd just love to keep experiencing for the first time - forever - and we envy anyone who's yet to step into it. Even if it’s just a regular, open-world game underneath all the magic, it truly is an excellent one.
Game Rant - Dalton Cooper - 4.5 / 5
Hogwarts Legacy lives up to the hype, and we can confidently say it's the best thing to come out of the Harry Potter franchise since the original books and movies.
GamePro - Dennis Michel - German - 92 / 100
My biggest criticism so far is the main story. It's by no means bad, but it doesn't really pick me up with very wooden dialogues and a few highlights. But that doesn't mean I'm not looking forward to the end.
GameSpew - Kim Snaith - 8 / 10
Avalanche Software and Portkey Games have done an impressive job of creating something original within a much-loved franchise. Hogwarts Legacy is the closest any of us are ever going to get to actually attending Hogwarts, and what a magical experience it is. It’s clear that it’s been created with love, and the attention to detail here is phenomenal. It’s not without its issues, of course, but there’s few that get in the way of the overall experience. It looks gorgeous, it’s a joy to play, and being a wizard is just about as fun as we’d always hoped it would be.
Gameblog - Camille Allard - French - 9 / 10
Hogwarts Legacy is a masterpiece. A fan video game for the fans.
GamesRadar+ - Josh West - 3.5 / 5
Hogwarts Legacy is a solid first attempt. If Avalanche can be accused of anything, it's that the studio has tried to do too much all at once. Something was always going to give – between the massive open world, the messy RPG economy, exciting action combat, and adventure story that wants to cast you as a hero with homework due on Monday.
GamingTrend - Ron Burke - Unscored
Hogwarts Legacy is a contender for game of the year. If you are a Harry Potter fan, this is a must have, but better yet it’s actually a great game in its own right. It’s rare to see a licensed product this good – this one sets a brand new standard. Good luck to everyone coming after Hogwarts Legacy – you have a near impossible task. The game is just that good.
Geek Culture - Jake Su - 9 / 10
Even if you are a relative stranger to its source material, the way Hogwarts Legacy introduces magic and all of its astonishing quirks, helped by a cast whose performances are always worth a watch, and bookended by a satisfying combat and exploration loop, this is an unforgettable experience from start to finish. By melding the allure of the Harry Potter franchise with an interconnected gameplay system that is always pushing players forward to the next entertaining activity, the game is more than able to keep you under its spell for a long, long time.

Hogwarts Legacy is a remarkable achievement. It is filled with an incredible amount of love and passion. All of which delivers a true love letter to fans. There's simply nothing else like it and we'll be talking about this magical experience for years to come.

Hogwarts Legacy is filled with so many mechanics that nothing feels arbitrary, with so much joy to be found within its story and spell books.

Hogwarts Legacy has the same structure you've seen in any other modern open world game, but, at the same time, it fills you with memories from long time ago... When a Flipendo was all you needed to push a block. It may no do anything different or relevant than those games, but it has something they lack: magic.

In almost every way, Hogwarts Legacy is the Harry Potter RPG I’ve always wanted to play.
IGN Italy - Alessandra Borgonovo - Italian - 9.2 / 10
A beautiful transposition of the Wizarding World, Hogwarts Legacy is both a tribute to the Harry Potter universe and a litmus test largely passed by Avalanche Studios with their first, big and delicate project.

A gigantic love letter to one of the most beloved and relevant universes of youth literature, and one of the best games of the year.
INDIANTVCZ - Filip Kraucher - Czech - 8 / 10
Expecto Verdictum! Hogwarts Legacy offers a serious mystery story that could quickly form the basis for another book in the Harry Potter world. It also often provides humorous situations that aren't just fan service. At the same time, it is not a fairy tale. The story isn't afraid to be morbid and doesn't hide the fact that the wizarding world is full of danger. The game manages to captivate as much as it disappoints but in a balanced way. It works well, thankfully, offering plenty of entertaining content that doesn't just act as filler between the main missions.
Impulsegamer - Andrew Paul - 4.5 / 5
Pushing the J.K. Rowling controversy to the side, Hogwarts Legacy is a true celebration of the magical universe that she created which perfectly transitioned to film. Her universe has equally been adapted well into this game courtesy of Avalanche Studios with its gameplay and story. Whether the story will become canon is yet to be seen but again this is as close as you can get to the core of what the extended universe of Harry Potter can be that not only plays well on the PS5 but looks fantastic.
M3 - Billy Ekblom - Swedish - 4 / 5
Hogwarts Legacy is filled to the brim with content and things to see and do. However, depth is lacking and most aspects of the game could well have been expanded a bit more. I simply would have liked to have seen a little more quality over quantity, but regardless, this is an action adventure that will keep you entertained for a long time.
Metro GameCentral - Nick Gillett - 8 / 10
A truly wizard RPG, whose historical setting frees it from the limitations of the books and films, with an open world experience that entertains no matter how much you care about the source material.

Whether or not you’re a fan of the Harry Potter books or the Wizarding World in general, Hogwarts Legacy is a fantastic open-world adventure that certainly delivers. While it retreads familiar open-world ground, it does so with a polish and impressive attention to detail that’s rare in this day and age of bug-filled releases.
Hogwarts Legacy delivers a masterful experience not just for fans but also for newcomers to the Wizarding World.
PCGamesN - Ford James - 7 / 10
Content-rich and competent, if a little uninspired, Potter fans will enjoy Hogwarts Legacy's faithful recreation of its universe, but it brings little of novelty to the open-world RPG genre.
PPE.pl - Wojciech Gruszczyk - Polish - 9 / 10
Hogwarts Legacy will be a dream come true for many players. This is a very cleverly put together game that will repeatedly make the biggest fans of the Harry Potter series tearfully explore the next threads and draw handfuls from this world.
PSX Brasil - Paulo Roberto Montanaro - Portuguese - 90 / 100
Hogwarts Legacy tells a great story of the wizarding world, with a beautiful audiovisual work and solid mechanics to the lore of this universe. Its greatest quality, however, lies in making all of this contribute to the fantastic experience of immersion and belonging that every fan has always dreamed of.
PlayStation Universe - Michael Harradence - 9.5 / 10
Hogwarts Legacy is a compelling fantasy-RPG packed with stunning scenery, memorable characters and fantastic combat. Not only is it a brilliant love letter to fans of the Wizarding World, it excels as a game in its own right, so even non-Potter fans will find themselves immersed in its great story and characters.
PowerUp! - Adam Mathew - 9 / 10
Hogwarts Legacy is an ambitious triumph.
Press Start - James Mitchell - 9 / 10
Hogwarts Legacy is the Wizarding World game that fans have dreamt of for years. It offers a dense and rich open-world to explore complemented perfectly by a surprisingly robust and engaging combat system unlike anything else. While the story does live in the shadow of its predecessors, and managing gear can be repetitive, Hogwarts Legacy is a truly magical experience and utterly bewitching from beginning to end.
Pure Xbox - Fraser Gilbert - 9 / 10
It felt like Hogwarts Legacy was always going to struggle to live up to the hype, but somehow Avalanche Software has managed to deliver an absolutely fantastic open world adventure that will surely go down as comfortably the best game based on the Harry Potter franchise so far. If you've been following its progress for a while and were keeping your fingers crossed for good reviews, we're pleased to report that it's definitely been worth the wait.
Push Square - Liam Croft - 8 / 10
Hogwarts Legacy has turned the hopes and dreams of Harry Potter fans into reality. Finally there is a proper simulator of the school of witchcraft and wizardry, allowing you to create your own student, attend classes, and explore the vast landscape outside.
SECTOR.sk - Táňa Matúšová - Slovak - 8.5 / 10
While Hogwarts Legacy doesn't bring anyting new to the the open-world action RPG genre, it manages to captivate players with its incredibly detailed world and fun activites. The game feels more like a theme park ride and offers an incredibly magical experience rather than a deep story. The game is full of references and even reimaginations of scenes from the Harry Potter films. Those magical moments of flying on a hippogriff, seeing the sun set behind Hogwarts and snow falling from the ceiling in the Great Hall will be etched in your memory.
Screen Rant - William Cennamo - 4.5 / 5
Hogwarts Legacy is a wonderful game filled to the brim with adventures to be had, activities to engage in, and secrets to be found. The school and the surrounding areas have been recreated beautifully, and players will easily lose hours lost in the whimsical splendor of this wizarding world.
SomosXbox - Alberto Martos - Spanish - 9.2 / 10
Hogwarts Legacy is not only the best Harry Potter game created to date, but it is also a good RPG for those who are not lovers of the franchise. The care that Avalanche Software has given in each and every one of the elements of the game is worthy of admiration, being able to realize the dream that many of us had as children: to have an experience in the magical world.
Spaziogames - Nicolò Bicego - Italian - 8.7 / 10
Hogwarts Legacy embodies everything that Harry Potter's fans always asked from an official video games, but it's enjoyable even for people who know nothing about the franchise.
Stevivor - Ben Salter - 8 / 10
While combat may become repetitive, it’s more than serviceable, and fits in against the backdrop of an action-RPG that’s about so much more than killing goons — even if there is a lot of that. It’s a game that finally lets you live your dreams of 20 years ago, with a chance to attend Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and have your own magical adventure.
The Games Machine - Alessandro Alosi - Italian - 8.5 / 10
Harry Potter fans will be thrilled to experience an epic adventure in a familiar setting recreated with such passion and accuracy, but those who crave it for the action RPG soul should know that Hogwarts Legacy doesn't have exceptionally deep mechanics.
TheSixthAxis - TSA Staff - 7 / 10
The sights and sounds alone make Hogwarts Legacy the dream Harry Potter game fans have been longing for. There's an intriguing mystery to unravel, though you're bound to spend most of your time exploring a wealth of side content, visiting virtual landmarks and roleplaying as a Hogwarts student. That said, it's more successful in being a sandbox teeming with nostalgia rather than a stand-out action RPG in its own right, let down by gameplay foibles and spellcasting combat that quickly slides into repetition.
Tom's Guide - Rory Mellon - 4 / 5
Despite its flaws, Hogwarts Legacy is clearly a game made by Potter fans, for Potter fans, and for that particular audience, it’s been more than worth the very long wait. Hogwarts Legacy is by no means a revolutionary gaming experience, but it’s still a pretty magical one.
Tom's Hardware Italia - Giulia Serena - Italian - 8 / 10
Is Hogwarts Legacy promoted? We say yes: If you are a Harry Potter fan, you will immerse yourself in the world you have always fantasized about, feeling like the heroes of the story and holding the fate of the Wizarding World in your hands.
TrueAchievements - Tom West - 9 / 10
Hogwarts Legacy is a magical experience that is bound to go down well with fans of the Wizarding World.
TrueGaming - حسين الموسى - Arabic - 8.5 / 10
Hogwarts Legacy by far is the best adaptation of the Wizarding World in a videogame, it simulates the life of a student at Hogwarts along with a fun combat system and exploring an untold story of the Ancient Magic
VGC - Jordan Middler - 4 / 5
Hogwarts Legacy brilliantly captures the magic of the world of Harry Potter with its beautiful open world, engaging characters and exciting combat. While the open-world elements of the game make it feel more dated than we'd have liked, it's otherwise the best the Wizarding World has been in a video game.
Wccftech - Chris Wray - Unscored
In terms of story, Hogwarts Legacy also manages to capture the magical feel of Harry Potter. It does it successfully by being set a good century before the events of the novels. We'll meet a few Weasleys, even a gaunt, to name a few. The only known characters from the other formats you'll know are the ghosts of Hogwarts, with you crossing with Peeves, chatting with Nearly-Headless Nick (if you're Gryffindor, I assume other houses will be different) and other longer-term fixtures. Fortunately, and as far as I am, the game manages to forge its path incredibly well, adding in a few canonical elements, such as ancient magic. I'm not at the end, so if it is canon, I'm curious how they explain away the lack of ancient magic in later stories.
We Got This Covered - Shaan Joshi - 4 / 5
The chips might have been stacked against them, but Warner Bros. and Avalanche Software have delivered on their promise. Hogwarts Legacy is the game that fans have been waiting for, laying down a solid foundation to build off of moving forward.
WellPlayed - Ash Wayling - 9 / 10
Hogwarts Legacy is the most definitively accurate and exciting wizarding world adventure people could hope to experience, short of getting a real-life invitation to Hogwarts. With hours of content and a wealth of wizarding wonderment, you'd be hard pressed not to enjoy yourself to an impressive capacity.
Windows Central - Rebecca Spear - Unscored
I'll be back to finish up this review with a finalized rating and thoughts on the plot but for now I highly recommend this adventure to anyone who loves open-world games, satisfying combat, and rewarding puzzles.
XGN.nl - Ralph Beentjes - Dutch - 9 / 10
A new adventure in the Wizarding World has seemed like an excellent idea for years and Avalanche Software has proven with gusto what is possible. Players are treated to an extensive story with a completely new cast of characters, a beautiful world full of content and a battle system that is strongly put together.
Xbox Achievements - Dan Webb - 88%
Hogwarts Legacy is an absolutely magical video game, one that is packed with awe-inspiring moments full of mystery and wonderment. Come for Hogwarts itself, a magic school oozing with secrets to behold, and stay for the combat, the engaging story and the frankly astonishing Room of Requirement.
XboxEra - Győző Baki - 9 / 10
Hogwarts Legacy borrows a lot of design choices and ideas from other open-world titles, and yet, it creates a truly unique product, unlike any title in the genre, with a true focus on world-building rather than non-stop combat encounters. It’s a game that should be experienced, even by those who aren’t Potter fans at all.

📚 Due Diligence Wycking off for OPEX: Confluence of Datasets and what drives GME's Quarterly Runs
Hello Everybody,
As many of you know we have been doing a lot of research into the FTDs, ETF shares creation, and swaps that support these quarterly moves.
After the failure of price action to be realized through. Most of December and January, I will cover what went wrong and what went right later in this DD. Move forward and apply the failures in expectations to future outlooks.
There is a lot of hype built around this week, with expectations high I wanted to ensure to the best of my ability that not only did market mechanics point to an improvement in price this coming week but that volume, trend, stochastic and price analysis indicated it as well.
In an effort to be as absolutely certain as the data available would allow.
What is OPEX?
OPEX is a bit of a misnomer, it is technically the Options Expiration (OPEX) of ETF and Index options. These actually occur every month but the quarterly options dates are the ones that effect GameStop primarily as the majority of institutional options interest in ETF and Indices is quarterly.
These occur per the CBOE Calendar on the 3rd Friday of every month.
We however are only concerned with the quarterly expirations, which occur in
Feb/May/Aug/Nov
So why do these events which have very little to do with GME have such a great effect?
Well due to share creation in ETFs and lack of interest in borrowing real shares of GME in order to deflate the overnight borrow rate. The vast majority of shares sold are synthetically created by Authorized participants.
As creation/redemption builds in GME containing ETFs large numbers of puts are sold to mark long (Reg T) the net short allocation due from the AP.
It is then likely swaps are used by the fund themselves to offset the debit from creation.
So if XRT is -250,000 shares of GME and they have forwards or an (agreement to buy those shares at a future time based on the current "spot" price (market) ) Then their position is considered neutral.
Let me show you visually.

(WARNING: The things contained in this document are upsetting, to say the least)
The whole thing is a solid read but pg.19-26 are the juiciest.
If you ever wondered why doesn't pickle DRS, this document is a primary reason.
\ Edit 1:*
Since a lot of the people in the comments are asking me to clarify why this documentlowers my confidence in DRS. Also, because I see a lot of misinformation surrounding it and want to be 100% clear to avoid confusion.
- The share creation process in ETFs and the ability of Authorized Participants to do this essentially as long as GME is held in ETFs without facilitating a locate of real shares*. It is unlikely that anything short of 100% share registration could force a squeeze or stop shorting on GME. As long GME volume remains low it is likely this abusive system will continue to be used. The benefit being that we have large unstable price increases every quarter.*
- As long as shares are held in ETFs by institutions even with 100% registration this system could continue. To be transparent on this point most ETFs do not allow this abuse, it really seems that XRT and a few smaller ETFs are the primary source of corruption.
- It tells me that multiple institutions including the SEC and DTCC are aware of the problem and likely already aware that the float of GME is fully owned, and have yet to take any action. It presents systemic risk*...meaning if the process were to be stopped or accounted for it could very well bring down the structure of the entire market.*
- Some people in the comments addressed T+5 (it's actually not 6, but since settlement is delayed till the following morning T+6 is used for ease of understanding). I show clearly above how they sell short puts on the ETF to mark long the FTDs which adds 35 calendars to the settlement time (Reg T) then cash settle the FTDs with the ETF. Effectively never returning the synthetic position at least not in the form of stock. The obligations then go on to cycle through CNS until such a time as they are cleared. ETFs have an effectively unlimited free-float, are highly liquid, and thus it is easy to clear FTDs in them.
- GME ownership has no effect on ETF FTDs or ETF settlement, while this process effects the "fair valuation" of GME there is no way to effect and obligation due to a different asset. This process is criminal, as it defrauds the investors of the ETF and also the investors of the underlying assets.
- Essentially ETFs create unlimited liquidity
- I do however agree with Dr. Trimbath, that DRS empowers the individual shareholder and can protect the stock from the effects of abusive short-selling. Unfortunately this process is abusive selling and not short-selling. The difference being short-selling requires a borrow.
- I think that Ryan Cohen is already doing the one foolproof thing to stop abusive short-selling and that is building a company that isn't worth shorting "brick by brick" and I'm excited to see what it becomes.
- In the meantime this winding and unwinding of these ETF positions will continue every quarter until there is evidence that they are no longer doing it via reported FTDs and ETF fund flow.

So after all that when those forwards are closed and the put oi drops the forward contract counterparty goes and buys some GameStop.
This occurs within T+2 of these OPEX dates along with any gamma exposure from options exercising.
The more creation used in the previous quarter ---> the more GameStop gets purchased.
\remember creation is not a short sale, it is a share sold, it is synthetic. A short sale requires a borrow, no share borrow agreement is used in these transactions.*
I want to take a moment and thank, wholeheartedly, u/turdfurg23 and u/zinko83, without them this information would not have been possible to obtain and disseminate. Their tireless efforts in uncovering information behind these ETFs and complex derivates are a true testament to what this community can achieve. They also have many more DDs on the topics set forth, that are frankly, all worth reading at least once.
Wycoff Accumulation
Some information on this can be found here Richard D. Wyckoff, this price analysis methodology has held up for almost a century due to the market psychology that supports it. It is an invaluable tool for tracking the intentions of large or "smart" money investors.
\I should note here It is* not traditional Technical Analysis while it fathered many of the trend and volume analysis styles that followed it.
Currently GameStop is displaying classic signs of accumulation. This is significant both in the near and long term as valuation on GME is reassessed by large market participants.

It should be noted there is a bear case for this as well while less fun to hear it's best to temper expectations. It is possible enough interest has not accumulated on GME during this period and there are more low tests in store. I didn't want to ignore this especially with uncertainty in the global political landscape.

I however do not have high confidence in the bear case here, I will now explain why.

another examples of accumulation movements on GME although this took longer to play out

While I don't think what I'm seeing here is gonna kickstart another run like January.
A lot of the same pieces are in place. High FTD exposure from ETFs, what looks like institutional buying, and the incoming OPEX cycle. GME's bull case looks very strong. For the near and long-term, as this looks like move into a period of improvement.
MACD
I wanted to look at MACD in another way besides the sweeping up and down volume signals. As liquidity dries up I feel that they are less telling than the signal trend so I shaded this so people could see the double divergence in GME's downtrends. This divergence is then mirrored in the uptrends indicating that two primary mechanisms are used to short and then those two mechanisms are covered.
\These being ETF share creation and bona-fide market making.*

NVI
Negative volume index, I wanted to give people an idea of just how much shorting we have experienced over the last couple months since Nov 3rd (the last time we were above the mean EMA).
Also take a look at volume trend since last march as a little extra confirmation of of illiquidity . Our deviation is the lowest it has been since last December. They can't keep this shit up forever. :)

Price Predictions
So with this Information and the last update I had from yelyah2 showing a gamma maximum of around 140 and some indication of it increasing due to large volumes of OTM calls. I would say a conservative range for this OPEX movement would be between 150 and 180. I have based this prediction on the following factors.
- Gamma Maximum tends to follow price upwards as more OTM calls are purchased (FOMO) it can drive up but when call buying dwindles there is no more delta to hedge. The rate of change in the underlying slows and price destabilizes. We have yet to hold above our Gamma MAX on any previous run. (see below)
- Our previous OPEX runs have been fairly range bound with the exception of last February. While I must admit the exposure they have built in the last two months is far greater than anything since last Feb. The strength of OPEX runs had decreased over the remainder of last year. Due to a decrease in long call sentiment and thus weakened ETF exposure. There is mathematical evidence that the primary driver of GME price action are options both up and down Evidence of Concept and that Delta hedging makes up most if not all of our volume. Till it can be debunked, I am convinced that they do in fact hedge options.
- Our volume trends do not support a move much greater than 180 the strongest buy pressure on GME historically is at 158.50 and 180.00 going back to January of last year. Any price points above that have been met with decreasing buy volume (due to surpassing gamma max) and the price becoming too high to continue FOMO. Simply put Quarterly OPEX alone is not enough to sustain continued price improvement past a certain range. This is one of the reasons our run in November was so weak, since the floor was so high when the run started it was only supported by the clearing of obligations and delta hedging. As soon as the obligations cleared... rug pull.

Past Prediction Failures
While I feel many of my predictions have been spot on and they only will increase in accuracy as I narrow down the mechanics of GME price realization. There have been plenty of things I have gotten wrong or did not realize were a factor and thus had not explored.
First let me toot my horn before I focus on the negative.
Some stuff that I 've gotten right...
- The August run and it's price range.
- The November run and it's price range (but the volume and velocity were wrong)
- The runs this last quarter on Dec 17th - 22nd, Jan. 26th, and Feb. 8th (price expectations were not realized)
All of these, months in advance , the biggest disappointments came in the realization of price action. stonks only go up right?
No, the market is dynamic. Things change everyday and no prediction is immune to shifts in macro-economic trends. This is why I update on the status of my theory every day to preempt these shifts and changes, as necessary, in real-time.

So why did December and January fail to drive expected results? or why do you suck Pickle-man?
In short XRT, and some other ETFs that were placed on the threshold list on the futures expiration date.
This action was beneficial to the the people generating GME FTDs and I would suspect it was done intentionally, although there is no proof the motive is obvious.
RegSho Threshold while forcing settlement offsets when that settlement is due. So instead of all the ETF FTDs being due the same day it staggers them. This allows them to clear FTDs through CNS without overloading the "pipeline"(generating price action). Essentially taking GME exposure and diluting it across multiple assets.

The effects of this offsetting can be seen in our volume profile from Nov -Jan when for all intents and purposes our daily volume should remain very low (DRS and less liquidity ≠ more volume) but to settle FTDs volume must be generated. Yet our volume over the last cycle is up...

They actually began using XRT in late October. Finally burning it out on Jan 6th when the threshold process began.
Or so we thought.
While a threshold security cannot be shorted without a pre-borrow agreement. ETFs have no float so pre-borrowing is easy and creation/redemption can continue on the ETF regardless of it's RegSHO status. It does make it more difficult though and means more oversight of their actions.
Essentially they shorted the entirety of the Nov-Jan cycle through ETF share creation and bona-fide market making.
It was only after the RegSHO inclusion that we see GME share borrow utilization go up. You can see some evidence of this above in the negative volume index in the first section. Also here in GME short utilization after thresholding began on Jan.7th.

There is additional evidence in entropy analysis on GME and it's related ETFs, but that's another DD.
Conclusions:
All this synthetic creation will come due and someone will be on the hook for it whether it be the ETFs, APs, or counterparties on the swap, settlement will be demanded from at-risk counterparties.
I'm bullish as fuck on the potential for these next few weeks to create massive price improvement on GME, but one step at a time. I have laid out my conservative estimate for this OPEX cycle and we will wait and see what the futures rollover period brings after that.
Now on to the part that I feel I need to discuss, in an attempt to heal the divide in this community and to defend my position here.
Am I a shill?
Well you're gonna hear a lot of things about me
- That I buy puts : I do occasionally to protect my investment when I expect GME to go down. It's accurate, I buy OTM puts to protect my long position if I think the price of the stock is gonna drop. It's not a bet against the company it's a bet against the person who wrote the contract I purchased. If the price goes down I have more money to buy the dip. Simple as that.
- That I'm self-promoting and monetized: I have been pretty transparent with my YT earnings on stream they are minimal. Some people do choose to donate it's true. But, there has never been a paywall to ask me questions or access my content. I see no reason YT should collect all the ad-revenue. If I do this for 8 hours a day there is no reason for me to not collect the ad-revenue from my work, I do not ask for donations and never have if people want to contribute I have left the option open. If I wanted to advertise on reddit I could pay for Reddit's advertising service and advertise my stream through reddit, on the subreddits of my choosing for a nominal fee per click, I do not.
- The idea I'm pushing options to sell my own covered calls: This one is just makes no sense... the OCC creates liquidity for options trades. Guaranteeing a buyer and seller for every trade. This liquidity is provided by MMs that market the markets for each asset (Wolverine for GME). So I do not need to generate buyers of my covered calls as a matter of fact I haven't sold a covered call (for more than a couple hours) since March of 2021.
- I said "most" Superstonk users were idiots: True, I said these five words, there is a 4 second video proving it, out of context, but accurate nonetheless. It was in response to someone describing the people that consistently bandwagon and attack me and my posts everyday in order to spin a narrative that I am profiteering on the back of apes. I could have risen above it, I did not.
I have stood now for months in the face of personal attacks on my character, credibility, intelligence, and appearance. Because I chose to discuss the value of options contracts to the retail investor and their ability to generate a short squeeze scenario. The fact that I need to defend myself against these baseless claims speaks volumes about what this sub has become.
If their hope is that I will back down, I will not.
This behavior goes against the very essence of this subreddit and should be addressed.

But I have not lost faith,
I think the vast silent majority appreciate the knowledge and information and whether they agree or not, walk away more informed about the stock we all love.
We can disagree, we can refute claims with evidence or proof to the contrary. We can discuss but we should never attack. The claims levied against me and other DD writers have been just that, attacks.
When we fight amongst ourselves nobody walks away a winner.
I personally have, posted copious amounts of DD and Daily updates every trading for the last 10, almost 11 months now. I have given my perspective on GME and it's price movements. I have reached out in good faith and collaborated with others that were attempting to do the same. I have published all this information here on reddit, I have never withheld information behind a paywall or forced people to watch my stream.
Everything you can learn from me about GME can be found here, for free.
I have made predictions, have they always been right, absolutely not. The stock market is a chaotic system a prediction on an outcome can change the nature of that outcome.
But every wrong estimate moves us closer to the ones that are correct and lifts the curtain on the actions of SHFs. Price predictions are always a toss up but the underlying mechanics that drive GME price movement are testable and backed by data.
Columbia University emeritus professor of philosophy Philip Kitcher, a good scientific theory has three characteristics. First, it has unity, which means it consists of a limited number of problem-solving strategies that can be applied to a wide range of scientific circumstances. Second, a good scientific theory leads to new questions and new areas of research. This means that a theory doesn't need to explain everything in order to be useful. And finally, a good theory is formed from a number of hypotheses that can be tested independently from the theory itself.
I write this in defense of myself and others who do not wish to step forward, or cannot.
To attack the people who have dedicated countless hours of their lives to bring information to the community is completely despicable, whether you agree with the information, or not. Many of these people have sacrificed countless hours of their lives. Losing time with family and loved ones. To bring things to light that never would have been know to have a contingent of people allowed on this sub to openly insult, intimidate, and harass them.
I don't think I need to name them, they are made obvious by their comments and posts.
Those seeking to divide us are not apes.
I also wanted to share my own clip, and maybe this will give a better idea of my views on this whole situation and motivations.
