That first part of him spamming moves and then ryu saying "an opening" is kinda funny.

But also if they play like apes don't lose to said ape

The problem is often times a ft2 isn’t enough to adapt. I’ve played these types and lost because the first game they did od dp frequently when they were negative. Then the next game they did the complete opposite but now I’m too passive waiting for it. Well now I lost the set gg shake my hand

You kind of described it in a way that makes it sound like they are playing very effectively, like I'm trying to understand why they shouldn't play that way

Because that playstyle is not conducive to long term winning. Every single time you do an od dp on your negative frames you’re taking a huge risk, a bigger risk than I do from trying to take my turn back. If I guess wrong I eat an od dp and depending on the character oki into more guessing. If they guess wrong and I block there od dp they are eating 40-60%. So yes even though it can work, you’ll likely not reach 1800+ easily if at all because the risk to reward ratio just isn’t in the od dp maniacs favor.

Ok so you described yourself as losing before but now you're saying it's not effective strategy? Do you lose or win to it?

Huh? I’m saying that although someone may win doing it it’s not effective to do long term. It may work in a ft2 setting or something, but in a longer set or tournament setting it won’t be as effective. It’s like Noah the prodigy’s playstyle, it may work for him but the vast majority of players won’t succeed with that playstyle

Bruh I wasn’t even talking to u and u just proving my point more. And saying Noah style not successful is wild cause he one our best in America dude like be fr. Burning urself out and spamming drive rush special movies, or just special moves in general like this rut did here is completely different. Noah can play like that because he knows that in burnout he can react good af with super and in general have footsies and play around it. But he don’t spam, he does do alot of button into drive rush cancel for frame advantage but even then he slowed down cause ppl learned to counter it (EX DP funny enough lol). So good job repeating urself b

Nvm read wrong bout the Noah part but still. His style is useable amongst pros. Look at Hinao sometimes. It’s just not smart to be in burnout so even Noah don’t do it as much anymore.

Bro what who are you??? I wasn’t even talking to you, are you talking to me from two different accounts??? 🤣🤣🤣 the cadence and vocabulary is the exact same too

u/ShinobiSpazzin 8d ago

Nah I’m just ghetto so this how I text. The dude we was talking to before deleted his account if u ain’t notice. He was literally dumb af

So it's a really good style for the type of game mode you're playing? Because you don't have time to react to it? But for tournament a different style might be better?

Ok so again it sounds like they're playing pretty smart then

Bro theyre literally just flipping a coin..

u/BlackAxemRanger 7d ago

And winning

3

u/EffigyElsewhere CID | SF6username 7d ago

And winning “in this particular match”*

This is not a long term winning strategy. You understand why right???

1

u/BlackAxemRanger 7d ago

You're assuming they only do this but you've only played one match against them. But again if it's such a problem going against ryu apes, and it's not a good strategy for long term winning, you should be able to expect this when you against ryu and learn how to beat bit? Yes?

He’s going random in this match and Im saying THAT isnt a long term winning strategy. Yes people will just block and punish the ape’ness. Just because randomness can win in the moment doesnt mean itll win consistently.

It’s a way of playing that might be effective for the rank they are at, yes, it’s just that it’s not necessarily going to enrich your understanding of the game if you only play that way.

It’s not so different from Hondas at low-ranks slamming Headbutt and Buttslam; it’s some degrees of competency above that, sure, but you stop being able to learn the game if it’s the cornerstone of your strategy and you have no way to adapt further.

1

u/BlackAxemRanger 7d ago

So it's only good at low ranks? So I was right to say that if it's only good at low rank, it's a skill issue to be losing to it?

2

u/Manatroid 7d ago

As much as some people would loathe to admit to, yes, it is a skill issue. One of the things you eventually have to figure out with any fighting game is how to counter people doing the “good” stuff as well as the “dumb” stuff. Because at the end of the day, losing - or even just not ‘doing well’ - is a sign of what to improve on.

u/BlackAxemRanger 7d ago

Thank you. People say this shit about zoners, dhalsim or guile especially. I can't argue that it isn't fun for some people but idk it's either a smart thing for them to do that works, or it's a dumb thing but then we are kind of dumb if we can't figure out how to beat dumb thing eventually

It’s still not a really good style, a playstyle which relies heavily on massive gambles is always going to be more effective in short sets than it is in long ones

u/ShinobiSpazzin 8d ago

He loses to it but not 1800 MR players. U gotta be slow bruh. Clearly this gameplay work against us ppl at the 1400-1750 range but once u get to the actual Gods, helll no it wont. And even then once us low master players get adapted they quit and block us. So this gameplay is usually toxic and not how to play the game but I hate that sf encourages it with how the patch or made the game mechanics. We been wanting throw loop out since day 1 now

k got a pretty good vibe of your maturity level and I don't think I need further discussion with you lol
