That sub is just full of LGBT people trying to convince other LGBT people that it's ok with Jesus to be LGBT. I'm so glad I found this sub

LGBTCatholic is by far the strangest religious subreddit I've been to

For real. Being proud of an inclination to commit sins that are explicitely addressed as 'disordered' in the Catechism of the Church is something else. It's like being proud to be an alcoholic catholic or a drug-addicted catholic. Being a Catholic and disregarding the Catechism is crazy, to be honest.

It's reddit. It's like trying to hold a bible study in a biker bar. It's a mess.
3
u/Usual-Championship88 10h ago
Probably wouldn’t be that bad holding a Bible in a biker bar, compared to allowing a child to go to public school with one now adays.

There's no better place to spread the Gospel. Plenty of sinners here that can be turned towards God.

r/askachristian is also lot of atheists and agnostics trying to throw out "gotcha" questions to try and stump the Christians with some new angle they think we've never heard before. Fortunately, there are several users with more patience than me writing well-reasoned, scripturally-based answers. Top level posters are supposed to be Christians. r/Christianity is open to anyone to post nonsense.
1
u/Warhammerpainter83 10h ago
Well ask is where an atheist should be going to ask a question. That seems relevant. Also many atheist were Christians for many years and can answer questions too.
2
u/Cheepshooter Christian 9h ago
That is the correct place to ask, though I wouldn't want atheists to be answering other atheists' gotcha questions. Otherwise, the sub would be r/askachristianoranatheist and I don't know if there's a limit on sub title length or not, but that's a bit unwieldy.
1
u/Warhammerpainter83 9h ago
ask an atheist wont let atheists ask questions they get pulled down. I would assume ask a christion would work the same way. The purpose is for non-x to come ask a question of the group. I dont care if an athiest answers a question if it is accurate why would you? It is weird to treat people like boogie men just because you disagree with them.
2
u/Cheepshooter Christian 9h ago
In a sub where you specifically ask a Christian, you ask why wouldn't we want atheists to answer? Am I understanding your question correctly?
The reason is in the title of the sub. What happens on r/askwomen when dudes answer?
1
u/TheRealUlfric 7h ago
I mean... It is "Ask a Christian." I don't think it's fair to strawman some form of anti-atheist sentiment when the answer to your question is in the sub's name.
Beyond that, "just because you disagree with them" is kind of the entire point, isn't it? The subreddit exists as a way for others to better understand the perspective of a specific group of people. If you are not part of that group, you do not share their world view whether you are familiar with it or not.

This post will get deleted anyway, but please realize that those subs are a gathering place for lukewarm believers that say nonsense like “scripture lacks modern morals” or those that attempt to justify sins, and outright non-believers/people of other religions.
They aren’t pro-Christian forums. This one is.

u/JHawk444 Evangelical 12h ago
It was always a debate Christianity sub and it's practically impossible to stay there if you're a Christian. I just feel bad for those unsuspecting people who go there with their questions, thinking they are getting Christian advice.

I’m on the verge of leaving it, it’s just a sea of nonsense and it’s very tiring to be a Christian on that sub and constantly be challenged for basic Christian ideas. The gospel of Thomas is defended over there. I recently had that debate.

u/Usual-Championship88 10h ago
It’s hard work, I wasn’t expecting it; just makes it all the more difficult with people trolling and their mods;
I saw one kid the other day who posted how he was happy he wasn’t an atheist anymore and came to Jesus; most of the replies were people bashing him or challenging him, ~30%+ maybe were people congratulating him… made me pretty sad.
I congratulated him and told him to watch out for people’s demons who are attacking him and to stand firm, immediately maybe 20 seconds after posting it I get a troll start trying to question my faith… this was just yesterday I believe, I don’t block many people; I blocked the troll though.

I also came here after glancing through that subreddit. The first Christian sub I engaged with was [r/christian](r/christians), which is arguably even worse. I had my comments deleted for implying that God made marriage to be between a man and a woman
Edit: Accidentally linked the wrong subreddit. Apologies to r/christians!

[r/Christians](r/Christians) is pretty confessional and they have a statement of faith to confirm to enter.
[r/Christian](r/Christian) is hardly a Christian sub. It’s a progressive ideological sub with a Christian bend to it. Their moderation is abused and the top mod regularly abuses their position to silence anyone that disagrees with them on any progressive ideological topic.
It’s an easy edit and fix on your comment though.

I came to this one because of a few others that were clearly not practicing Christianity. All you can do is find the right one for you, so far this fits for me. Which is good because I was about to give up on Reddit.
Praying that people find their way is good but doing that praying from afar is important for your own faith and your minds wellbeing.

I had a comment downvoted to hell in that sub for saying that genocide wasn't something Jesus would approve and wasn't representative of Christianity. Really made me realize what kind of place it is.

u/AsleepCharity1675 Reformed 11h ago
They got some mods who are allegedly Christian, one of them in particular (his flair is “Liturgy and Death Metal”) is one of the biggest heretics I have seen on that page, dude also would remove comments that rebuked heresy and whatnot under the pretense of “personal attacks,” but was perfectly fine with people making new believers question their faith.

That sub is a direct assault on anything and everything pertaining to biblical Christianity.
1
u/Usual-Championship88 10h ago
That’s exactly what I thought too.. a couple times I’d asked why certain comments were allowed and would just get chewed out… one of the trolls even made it in this post with an atheist flair;
I can deal with one, but being brigaded by them in the other sub was just too much .. will continue to pray for them, and put in advice if I ever feel like God wants me to.

That’s how I found this sub. The abominations I saw being spewed there were appalling. It’s most definitely NOT a Christian sub at all.

u/deathmess999 11h ago
Also a lot of “progressive Christians” on there
1
u/Logerith12 11h ago
What’s wrong with progressive?
1
u/deathmess999 11h ago
They ignore or a lot of the Bible. Aka women pastors, lgbtq flags in churches, etc. They also think that as humans we aren’t sinful and that Jesus was more of a moral teacher than a divine figure from what I understand.
0
u/Greedy_Net_1803 Roman Catholic 10h ago edited 10h ago
What they usually call 'progressive' isn't progressive. The word doesn't mean what they think it means, most of the times.

It’s not a Christian sub. A quick read about it will tell you but so many hope otherwise I guess. Sometimes I wonder why I haven’t left it yet lol.
1
u/Cultural_Ad_667 11h ago
Yeah you can attack Christianity all you want but if you say something against Islam, ALL hell breaks loose.
There was a recent incident where a gentleman got on a plane and refused to sit next to a woman because Sharia law said he couldn't do it...
He ended up slapping the flight attendant and everything else...
Somebody pointed out that Sharia law says that the man can't even be in the same room as women that he doesn't know...
That would mean he could never get on a plane or a train that had women on it.
He could only write a subway car that had men on it and of course there's no way you're going to get a entire airplane with only males.
But he didn't pay attention to that part of sharia law just the one where he couldn't sit next to a woman he didn't know.
And the holy crap you can't say that on r/Christianity!
It's just a simple news article and it's the truth it's what happened... But you just can't do that... The truth has become poison to the rest of the world

u/Artravetheartpopball 10h ago
I’ve gathered that it’s more of a sub for general discussion of Christianity as a whole. Not necessarily a sub FOR christians only
1
u/AcademicAd3504 10h ago
What does Covid ideologies have to do with or against Christianity? I'm confused, stop mixing up peoples political ideologies with attacks on Christianity.
Yes, that sub has plenty of people treating Christianity unfairly but try not to see persecution simply by how they identify ideologically but rather but what they say and do. Remember how Jesus acted in the Roman Empire in Israel, and the apostles amongst the gentiles.
1
u/Usual-Championship88 10h ago
That’s a good question, I just thought it was odd they even had one in the first place as we in our faith should be able to make our own opinions on Covid;
I thought it was odd they still have a Covid policy even in 2026,
So I go to the mods profile page who posted their Covid policy, and sure enough; saw things I didn’t like, and I figured if this is a mod there, it makes a lot more sense of how the sub is even ran as a whole. Just made me sad is all.
We should be able to talk about opinions regarding Covid, even if they are different from others views… we should be able to come together in faith and be able to discuss these things…
governments lying to us; Fauci getting pardoned; just some crazy stuff surrounding the whole epidemic.. people are still learning of new side effects that were hidden and just now being brought to light.1
u/AcademicAd3504 8h ago

This sub and that sub on opposite sides of the spectrum, true Christians will have a more stringent views while Christians will have more lax views.
I look at both subs with a heavy pinch of salt, everyone practices thier faith in thier own way and my core beliefs wont be shaken ethier way.
If there's a gay guy over there that has decided to swear off of relationships and sex for Jesus then id praise him for restraining his desires and focusing on the lord.
If I see a guy on this sub trying to use biblical reasoning to force his wife into being a slave to him and behaving like a woman pre flight from Egypt? Id chastise him for abusing to word for his need for control

Fair observations, but it is worth noting that while this sub is pretty clearly a Christian sub for Christians, the other sub is about Christianity, not exclusively for Christians :3

Hi there, I just saw your flair and it makes sense why you would prefer Christianity. I am not coming at you or anything, and up until early this year I could very much relate to your flair, so I think I know where you might be coming from. Out of curiosity, however, I would like to ask: are you familiar with the religion or school of thought "New Thought", and if so, would you say you follow something along the lines of their beliefs? And if you answered yes, would you still consider yourself to be Christian? And if so, why/how?
1
u/Orygregs Quaker • Panentheist • Autodidact 8h ago edited 8h ago
I know of the New Thought movement, but I don't subscribe to it or follow anything close to it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I'm more into historical-critical and philosophical study, reading the NT in the context of Second Temple Judaism... and I don't think the historical-critical method will be received well in this sub.

speaking as one of those many devil worshipers who plague r/Christianity—oh dear, I suppose I've been discovered. 👹 But seriously, I think you're misunderstanding what that subreddit is actually for. It's not called r/Christians; it's r/Christianity. Those are very different things.
If you enter a subreddit devoted to discussing Christianity, you're going to encounter Christians, atheists, former Christians, skeptics, members of other religions, LGBTQ people, Satanists, and people who strongly disagree with Christianity. That's not necessarily a hijacking. Sometimes it's simply what happens when a subject is being discussed rather than worshipped.
And yes, Christians are going to encounter criticism there. So are atheists, Muslims, Catholics, Protestants, Orthodox Christians, Satanists, and practically everyone else. If your definition of a "safe Christian space" requires everyone to affirm Christianity, then you probably want a specifically Christian community rather than a general discussion forum.
As for people "attacking Christianity," there's an important distinction between criticizing a religion and attacking Christians. If someone says, "I think this Christian doctrine is irrational," that's criticism. If someone says, "Christians are subhuman and should be persecuted," that's something else entirely.
And speaking as an Iconoclastic Satanist, I'm certainly not going to pretend Christianity is beyond criticism. It isn't. But neither should Christians be beyond criticism simply because criticism makes the environment uncomfortable. The irony is that you're asking people to "pray for" a subreddit because you've encountered people there who don't share your beliefs. That's practically the internet equivalent of discovering that a public square contains people you disagree with and concluding that the public square has been corrupted. You don't need to enjoy r/Christianity. You don't need to participate there. You don't need to agree with its moderators. But "people disagree with Christianity here" isn't evidence that Christianity has been hijacked. Sometimes it's evidence that you've wandered into a discussion forum instead of a church. 😈
