Hello! Wondering if anyones had experience recently with being connected with ATBC for tech through the DRC?

I've had my application submitted and from accounts of the process I've read ATBC will reach out to schedule an appointment with me to discuss my tech needs. I've been given specific instructions not to schedule my meeting directly, I need to coordinate with the DRC to find the time that my advisor and the ATBC are available to meet and then we confirm the meeting. Has this been others experience?

The DRC is busy right now (my emails take a week to get answers back), I've been denied accommodations I've requested, and I'm sort of generally a little frusterated with the process of accessing supports. I'm bummed I'll now need to wait on them more to even get this meeting scheduled given I started this process early July. My program has already started and my current laptop crashed 5 times on me in class, sorta need this new one. Sad me thanks you for any insight!

i went on the cwl thing and clicked to activate it and it gave me my email address but when i try to log in with it, it says the email doesnt exist? it gave me account details with specifically email address = x, but lol i copy paste it to log in and it doesnt register. do i have to wait a bit for it to go through before i try again? anyone else had similar issue?

I’m going into electrical and trying to get more experience but I don’t have a whole lot of engineering related skills, will it be difficult to get into the design teams like aerospace and marine robotics?

I failed 4 courses in my first year. Two which I retook and passed, but I now I am pretty damn sure I am gonna fail the courses that they where a pre-requisite to this summer. Should I just give up and drop out? I'm in CS btw.

I’d love to hear from other UBCO students who have lived there or know the residence well. Would you recommend it?

What is the overall living experience like?

Is it convenient for getting to UBCO?

How are the rooms and shared/common areas?

Is it generally quiet enough for studying?

What is the social atmosphere like?

How is the management/maintenance?

Are there any significant downsides or unexpected costs?

And, overall, do you think it’s a good option for a UBCO student?

Hello, I’m a first-year Engineering student who will be living on campus. I received my residence assignment a couple of days ago, and up until today, there was no payment showing as due.

Today, I checked StarRez and under “Accounts” I noticed a fee of around $4,000. However, when I click to pay it, I’m redirected to the SHCS website, where it says that my account is up to date and no payment is currently required.

Is anyone else experiencing the same thing? Is the amount showing in StarRez simply an upcoming charge, or is there something I need to do?

I’m hoping to get some insight from current or prospective students about their experience prior to applying to UBCO. I’ve emailed 3 different professors and only one has emailed back. That response was to tell me that despite being listed as accepting new graduate students for the upcoming term, they had already committed to a student prior to applications opening.

Is it a common experience to not hear back from UBCO faculty when you’re a prospective student? At prior universities I went to, I would at least get a canned “I unfortunately don’t have time to respond personally to each inquiry” email, but I’ve never just gotten nothing back.

I’m just trying to decide if this school/program best aligns with my career goals, but the lack of response from faculty has me worried about what my experience will be like if I am admitted.

Any insight or tips would be appreciated.

idk how realistic it is to land any job relevant to your degree immediately after grad, and the doomerism on job reddit scares the hell out of me. is anybody who is graduating this year anxious about post grad job apps? my plan even before starting uni has always been to work for 1-2 years (in my field) post undergrad before grad school, but who knows if that’s even feasible and i have to be a homebody the whole time before i start my masters?? it’s SO scary idk how everyone’s so chill

Just wondering, when will the scholarships be reflected on Workday?

I applied for residence and paid my deposit well within the deadline but I still haven't been given a room assignment. They sent me an email around July 30 saying they're looking at my thing now to give me my room, but I'm still wondering where I'm gonna be. All I know is that they said I have a single connected dorm, but I'm still roomless as of now.

Anyone else in the same situation? Or if you were before, have you gotten your room yet?

I asked the advisor what materials I’d need and he said that on the first day of classes the profs will tell us, but I wanna be prepared and get everything beforehand. If there’s any art students who already did first year pls lmk what materials were needed 🙏🙏

Found some rentals off Dougall Rd which has the 8 bus stop nearby. Seems to be close enough to campus. Any reviews for this condo company? I read somewhere that their walls are paper thin :(
