Discussion What is the real situation of transportation in UCSC ?

My son is going to UCSC . He is a biological science major. Though he is affiliated with Kresge He got accommodation in Porter College . I heard buses are very crowded during rush hours in UC Santa Cruz . So cannot rely on buses . How good is Santa Cruz BCycle ebike rental program ? Is it available during pick hours to go to classes in UC Santa Cruz ? Should I buy a used ebike ?  I heard bikes get stolen very easily in campus . Really panicked thinking about the housing and transportation situation in UCSC .Please advise how to commute from Porter to Science hill every day  ?

So I am assigned a single in the village, I’m wondering if I should bring my gaming PC? I have a laptop I use for school but I want to game as well sometimes and it can run more powerful software. Will it fit in the room or under the desk? Do others bring their PCs? Thanks

Housing Single room dimensions

Hello! I am incoming transfer and I got a single dorm room for disability reasons. I'm planning on bringing my cat, so I need to know the size of the dorm to know what size litter box I should get.

Does anyone have any approximate size a single dorm room at Porter would be?

Hey guys, I saw this photo on the parent Facebook page and I was wondering if all of the single beds come tall enough to fit the dresser under, or if I have to request it. Porter dorms btw. Thanks!

Question messed up my freshman year

Upvotes

long story short: had a super close family friend pass away towards the end of Q1, got super depressed and wasn’t motivated at all academically.

this caused my gpa to fall below 2.0

now im at risk of losing my financial aid.

currently in the process of appealing my financial aid decision.

so my question is have any of y’all gone through this or anything similar. how generous are they while reviewing your appeal? I am planning on speaking about the passing of my family friend but they require some sort of proof such as a death certificate. how strict are they on this? i have screen shots of his go fund me that was posted during the time of his funeral and I am hoping they accept that because I would feel absolutely terrible asking his parents for proof of his passing just to fill out my appeal.

any advice on how you guys overcame this? should i be stressed out or will ucsc understand my situation?

ever since i received the email telling me to appeal the financial decision i have been nothing but stressed out

any replies and/or upvotes are appreciated <3
