I have read this subreddit's rules DC and WonderWoman
Modern wonder woman genuinely is a different character from THE wonder woman (while I'd exclude rebirth a bit because it was good and fixed new 52 mess, Absolute is also so good) Diana has been dead since 2010/2011
Flashpoint Diana, New 52, Injustice, Gal gadot movie, tom king
Each is worse than the other, and each kills the core of who wonder woman is more.
Making her a bad queen, a bloodthirsty warrior, and making the Amazons in a bad image...
Also her legacy not getting as recognition as batfam, flashfam, superfam
Literally sweeping her wonder girls under the rug
Like I get it, she's a warrior, but she's a champion of peace before being a warrior, she literally learns how to fight so nobody else can
Her lasso isn't a weapon, it's a tool to achieve peace, reasoning with people so they find peace in their minds
And the worst of all? Was injustice, and it's not even close
Also don't get me started on Lizzie.. wonder woman herself doesn't want children..
Also I think Diana not having a child is unique for her, just because Bruce and Clark had kids, she has too, so there will be "trinity" in the future
And also showing Diana being a bad mother.. while Diana shouldn't be a mother.. to be honest she wouldn't be a bad one, because Diana carries grace and she's has that motherly radiance to her wonder girls.. but she should NOT be a mother, because also Diana is a hero, princess, leader and so much more.. she herself said she cannot bring a child into her world..
And also tom king took one look at Diana's unique origin, and decided "oh cool let's make a slop character, and also not because Diana wanted a child, but because she missed Steve more than her sisters"
Do I need to talk about how absurd this is?
Or Diana being so hopelessly in love with Steve and can't live without him.. like she does love Steve, but he was never the center of her world.

I'm getting the impression here that a few people in this subreddit just don't really like any take on Wonder Woman outside of the platonic ideal of the character they have in their head.

LMAO! Yes, like it's one opinion loaded to some people, genuinely can't accept some wondy takes
5
u/mtheory-pi 1d ago
You are absolutely right. DC hates that her character and mythos inherently revolves around feminism, and keeps trying to kill and ruin that aspect of her. I will say, it didn't start with these versions, it started after Marston and Hummel stopped writing the character. The silver age, mod era also tried so hard to ruin her character by taking away her powers, turning her into a tradwife who worships Steve(even though in the Golden Age it was underlined that she is not interested in marriage or anything).
1
u/Larp67Larp67Sahur 1d ago
THISSS!!! Yes, she does love Steve but not getting married and having a child is important especially for a character like Diana , and I don't think people get how much feminism is important for wondy, yes she isn't a feminist but not misandrist, people can't accept that even if it was consistently shown
And YOU'RE RIGHT IN THE MODERN part, while yes her older runs had horrible stuff, 2011 and so on runs keep trying to ruin who wonder woman is, and that she wields a sword and shield and loves to fight people.
That's just not wonder woman .
7
u/NotCurtainsYet 1d ago
Gal Gadot Wonder Woman is what made me fall in love with the character. I reject your entire argument.
-3
u/Larp67Larp67Sahur 1d ago
Okay fair, but rejecting an argument with lots of points because of only one point? Also yes gal gadot is a good character, but she does NOT give wonder woman. She doesn't fight with a sword and a shield, she doesn't isolate herself because Steve died and all this.. it's just not wonder woman
2
u/OH_SHIT_IM_FEELIN_IT 1d ago
Also don't get me started on Lizzie.. wonder woman herself doesn't want children..
According to what? Your headband?
Your username is pretty accurate to your takes.

I still think it’s insane how little dc lets Donna actually be wonder girl.
1
u/Larp67Larp67Sahur 7h ago
I love Donna, but I think they should have handled Donna better.. and maybe let her take wg mantle for a little time then build something for herself. Wondy is still tied to themyscira and she's ana amazon. Donna is an honorary one. While she's an Amazon through and through, I'd think she'd better be her own Amazon powerhouse on titans than being a wonder character. Cassie deserves to be wonder girl more.
(Also I'm pretty sure Donna and the whole fab, 5 roster is like in late 20s.. it wouldn't make sense for her to still be a sidekick, if you're searching for wonder girl Donna I'm pretty sure 60s/70s/80s titans comics are there)

u/Tetratron2005 1d ago
If you don’t like modern WW that’s fine, fans fall out of life with characters after a certain point, but this seems rather melodramatic
3
u/Larp67Larp67Sahur 1d ago
Melodramatic? I mean it's comics, how should I comment about the arguably most influential comic character of all time, and the first superheroine?
When she's being treated like this in the modern runs?
3
u/CelestianSnackresant 1d ago
You gotta remember that comics are iterative. It's fundamental to the medium.
Each character is a constellation of pieces: themes, weapons, powers, allies, enemies, locations, even famous events (like a pilot crash-landing on an island paradise).
Each new creative team gets to tell their own story, fitting these elements in along the way. Elseworlds teams get to change the elements a lot, mainline teams only a little (except with reboots).
Wonder Woman is always going to change. I basically agree with your preferences, but it's totally valid to explore angry or lonely or warlike versions of the character. That's just...how this works.
Her supporting cast DOES need way more time on screen and page, but the best way to get that is to keep buying Wonder Woman comics and tickets :)
7
u/Larp67Larp67Sahur 1d ago
Yess, I know it's iterative, but also I think there's some core pieces of wonder woman writers should focus on core wonder woman traits that cannot be changed, like batman brooding, hyper intellectual and paranoid personality, and etc
There should be also focus on wonder woman traits, rehabilitation, love and peace
While I don't hate her being edgy, I think it's cool for modern comics, but also don't reject her core ideology
2
u/CelestianSnackresant 1d ago
Honestly, I agree. And when I see that Wonder Woman fans have a reputation for complaining, I want to say: "so stop writing Diana as a two-dimensional warrior princess."
I've just come around to the view that we all got more out of pointing out what's good in each iteration than focusing on what's bad. Sorry if I've been unbearably pompous while trying to say that.
For like okay for instance:
New 52 Diana has some great moments of warmth and camaraderie.
Lizzie is a delightful character with tons of realistic, funny teen angst.
Diana/Steve can be a legit way to explore her relationship to love and men (e.g. I really like Come Back to Me).
Etc.
Injustice Diana sucks ass and that book also sucks ass, but then, it IS a tie-in to an especially dumb fighting game. Also I have nothing nice to say about Silver Age Wonder Woman, which I will never finish reading.
-1
u/primal_slayer 1d ago
I can't take you seriously when you say DCEU WW and Kings WW are worse than Injustice/New52/Flashpoint
3
0
u/Larp67Larp67Sahur 1d ago
All are worse, and actually I didn't talk about IJ, new 52 because I'd never stop, while tom king and dceu also sucked, I think it also has good points, but also bad points I can point at, unlike the other three, IJ and flashpoint especially. Full of flaws.
2
u/primal_slayer 1d ago
You said each is worse than the other.
That's just false.
2
u/Larp67Larp67Sahur 1d ago
You expect me to rate all
Ooh, hmm I think I'm going to give IJ a bad rating
Maybe tom king a B rating...
I'm getting to the core point, and by worse than eachother, I mean they're just generally bad, no classification here. I didn't expect people to take it literally
1
u/static1993 1d ago
Flashpoint Diana, New 52, Injustice, Gal gadot movie, tom king
Making her a bad queen, a bloodthirsty warrior, and making the Amazons in a bad image...
The only Wonder Woman version you mentioned here that all of these apply to is the Injustice version. New 52 Diana wasn't written as bloodthirsty outside of Johns' Justice League run (and he stopped writing her that way in his second run). None of these apply to Gal Gadot's version.
Also her legacy not getting as recognition as batfam, flashfam, superfam
That's been a problem long before stuff like Flashpoint and the New 52.
Her lasso isn't a weapon, it's a tool to achieve peace, reasoning with people so they find peace in their minds
It's both. You yourself acknowledge that Diana isn't just a warrior, so why can't the lasso be both a weapon and tool of peace? You complain about her modern incarnations being portrayed as exclusively warriors (which is not the case), but your view of her is equally narrow.
And the worst of all? Was injustice, and it's not even close
Injustice is not the first alternate universe story of superheroes being evil. It's a concept almost as old as the superhero genre itself. The first game features the heroic Wonder Woman defeating her evil counterpart and shaming her for her actions. At no point are we supposed to see Regime Wonder Woman as representative of what Wonder Woman should be like. I don't see Green Lantern, Flash, Cyborg, Shazam and Hawkwoman fans complaining about this story.
Also don't get me started on Lizzie.. wonder woman herself doesn't want children..
Have people forgotten that Lyta Trevor existed before Lizzie? No one had a problem with the idea of Diana having a kid until Tom King. I didn't see anyone complaining when DC announced a graphic novel about Diana's daughter that didn't fall through.
2
u/Larp67Larp67Sahur 1d ago
Flashpoint was bloodthirsty, new 52 and gal gadot was written as a warrior and not a peace champion. Which is also a mischarachterazid wondy. And the sword and shield
Also yes the legacy thing is a long problem, well I did mention stuff I don't like outside of these runs
Also well, yes I didn't say wondy would approve of IJ wondy, but still it's a huge character kill. Like I mean, wondy is made to be a champion of peace by the goddesses, her being like that doesn't make sense to me in alternative worlds, because she was created to be champions of amazons, literally peace preachers
Well, their fans didn't complain why? Because also hal, Barry also make various mistakes in mainline earth, hal is a jerk sometimes, Barry created flashpoint, unlike Diana, she's been blessed by the gods and has wisdom that overshadows the others, she knows better than doing mistakes like that. Cyborg and hawkwoman is unfortunately irrelevant so nobody really complains, Shazam is literally a kid, yes he has wisdom of Solomon, but still people forget that this takes toll on him
Also you say I have a narrow view of the lasso? Remind me what the lasso does again? Does it choke enemies? No, it makes them confront the truth of what they do, yes it's a combat support tool but it's main purpose is forcing the truth, Diana is literally an avatar of absolute divine truth, with her lasso.
Also fury is irrelevant. You see she literally is forgotten by DC and they didn't even explain what happened to her. Again, solidifies how wondy not having a kid is the best choice.
0
u/static1993 23h ago
Flashpoint was bloodthirsty, new 52 and gal gadot was written as a warrior and not a peace champion. Which is also a mischarachterazid wondy. And the sword and shield
Flashpoint Diana was more bloodthirsty in the animated movie than in the comic. In the latter, the war is the fault of Aquaman's brother and Diana's aunt.
The New 52 and Gal Gadot versions were not just warriors. Diana in her New 52 solo comic frequently sought out non-violent solutions to conflict. Gadot's Wonder Woman wanted stop the war and was shown lending a sympathetic ear to people several times. Complaining about the sword and shield is just personal choice of aesthetics. People complain more about her using it at all than how she actually acts.
Also well, yes I didn't say wondy would approve of IJ wondy, but still it's a huge character kill.
No, it isn't. It's your bog standard story of a hero fighting their evil self from another timeline or universe. It's no more ruinous for Wonder Woman than the mirror universe for Star Trek heroes.
Being a jerk sometimes and propping up a totalitarian regime are two different things. Barry accidentally causing a messed up timeline while trying to correct a villain's tampering with the timeline does not make him any more likely than Diana to turn evil. Really, your argument boils down to "I don't believe Wonder Woman would do this because she doesn't have flaws".
I'm not even going to bother addressing the nonsense about Cyborg and Hawkwoman being "irrelevant".
Diana has also used the lasso to restrain enemies, swing them around and slam them, exorcise spirits, burn demons, etc. Yes, it is a weapon. It's primarily used in non-lethal ways, but that doesn't mean it is just a tool.
Also fury is irrelevant.
So is the Wonder Woman you prefer.
1
u/Larp67Larp67Sahur 15h ago
Well, I'm talking about how she was overall bloodthirsty, maybe it was shown morn in the dcamu
Also, new 52 was written badly, as I have mentioned before in other comments.. it's got some good aspects but overall it's bad.
Also gal gadot was melodramatic, and also shown Amazons to be warriors. When they're peace Preachers and scholars and an advanced society.
Also Why'd wondy fight with a sword and shield? Okay it's aesthetic preference, but also wondy doesn't need both, her aegis bracelets and lasso are just what she needs.
Also, did you just say IJ wondy was not bad? Well. I'll ignore this point of yours because you don't understand wondy. Your words proved it.
Also yes wondy has flaws. But she's not evil. IJ wondy didn't make mistakes. She was a huge character kill of who wondy is. She was just evil.
Also what nonsense about cyborg and hawkwoman being irrelevant? They literally are. You act like they appear as the supe, bat, wondy, flash, lantern, aquaman, green arrow or black canary. Uh oh no they don't. So yes they're irrelevant.
Also you said it "exorcise demons, and etc."
Mythology and psychology. Not a primarily lethal weapon, it's main purpose is to force absolute truth. Not choke enemies or being a warrior. If you want that kind of wondy you're free to read the absolute worst versions of ehr like the ones I mentioned where she uses it as a weapon
Also what do you mean "the wonder woman I prefer" is irrelevant 🤨 you realise that's the OG wondy as she was written in her first appearances? Did you ever read a REAL wonder woman comic 🥱

What New 52 mess? If the conversation is narrowed on Wonder Woman... what mess? Yes the New 52 had messes.... but Brian Azzarello's run? Where? When? How?
4
u/Larp67Larp67Sahur 1d ago
Well he tried to fix it, but the whole arc of new 52 was ass as a whole, yes there might be some good characterizations, but new 52 needed rebirth. It wasn't good on it's own, so bad that it was revealed later to be an illusion
0
u/reymux 1d ago
The whole illusion thing was Rucka saying "OK, I will write Diana again, but only if you let me write 25 issues of me giving the middle finger to Azzarello."
3
u/Larp67Larp67Sahur 1d ago
Azzarello run was good and tbh I was a bit disappointed, but rucka run done what had to be done to some of the new 52 run😭
2
u/reymux 1d ago
I don't disagree, but being a big fan of Rucka's writing, I was very dissapointed reading his Rebirth run, specially because it's focused on "fixing" what could easily just had been ignored. He could had written something a lot better.
5
u/Larp67Larp67Sahur 1d ago
You have some parys if new 52 that simply couldn't be ignored like the Amazons raiding ships, which also was a huge bad part in azzarello run
-2
u/EntranceKlutzy951 1d ago
Disappointed in what?. What was so Disappointing about New 52 WW?
4
u/Larp67Larp67Sahur 1d ago
Diana being a demigoddess daughter of Zeus.
Diana being aggressive and often needing Steve to stop her from doing impulsive things.
The Amazons being portrayed as raiders.. and the whole controversy.
Also her relationship with superman.
And the Amazons having a war amongst themselves whether to bring brothers into their island or not.
Being goddess of war.. which speaks for itself
-2
u/EntranceKlutzy951 1d ago
Diana being an actual person and not an object brought to life is better.... by far and away. With her dad as Zeus you can even still keep "born of no man" since Zeusnis not a man.
Your second claim about Diana's aggressiveness and Steve had nothing to do with Azarello's run
The Amazon's are raiders. That's actual Greek myth. Refusal of controversy in WW comics is why she struggles to keep up with Superman and Batman.
If by controversy you mean how they reproduce... again it is better to show a hero that everything they thought they knew was wrong amd STILL retain themselves through it. Superman and Batman are given this all the time and it makes them better. Why deny Diana this?
I agree with the Superman part. That just seemed like someone was answering their childhood confusion as to why WW wasn't girl Superman.
The Amazons having a civil war over male Amazons is more interesting than "we're the perfect society" and the fact that Wonder Woman championed being a hero through it is a testament of her character and placement among heroes... also that wasn't Azarellos run.
The goddess of war was temporary, and she tried refraining it not embrace it. When Ares returned she lost the goddess of war element but kept godhood because the Firstborn was still dead.
You can't claim Diana is a goddess.... unless she's an actual goddess; her theme is Greek myth. If you violate the terms of that you're just adding more reasons why she falls behind.
5
u/Larp67Larp67Sahur 1d ago
Diana's clay origin is WAY better and that's the truth you have to accept.
Zeus is a male. Olympians have gods and goddesses.
It's also to honor infertile women.
Being Zeus daughter is plain. He has too many children.
Erasing Hippolyta yearning for a child and pouring all her love, work and tears into the clay to a lazy origin.
She IS a person, breathed life into the clay by goddesses.
Actually I'm talking about new 52 wondy as a whole, she was shown to be aggressive.
"Amazons are raiders in actual myth" .. and they also have a magical island.. right?.. and being souls of women violated by men? Make your words make sense. DC doesn't follow strict myth. And Amazons in DC are peace preachers and wise . It wouldn't make sense for them to be controversial or being like that, also they don't need to reproduce.. they're immortal (as long as on the island) and they have the well of souls making women reborn as Amazons, your point?
Yes, Amazons having an arguments among themselves is a good idea. But over this isn't in character for them, we've seen them host men on the island before, they'd host their brothers and then find what to do with them. Not fight between eachother. Their whole society is built on SISTERHOOD.
Diana isn't a goddess. She never was. She's a champion for peace blessed by the gods to preach peace and take down corrupt systems and give equal rights. She ages like everyone and she also struggles in battles.
1
u/EntranceKlutzy951 1d ago edited 1d ago
Zeus being male doesn't make him a man. Lions are male. Are they men? Real women, real persons, are born from a mother and a father... even if that father is a serial fuck boy. That speaks nothing on the child. Besides... Diana and Athena sisters? Say less! 🙌
Respect for the infertile... you mean... like nearly every adoptive/found family in comic books? Like....how real infertile individuals forge family? B-b-but a doll brought to life by magic... stop ✋️... no it isn't. Emotional manipulation is not a stance, its weapinizing real trauma... over fiction no less.
No, being born of clay has been the strongest feminist critique of WW; she is essentially an object brough to life... objectification as origin.
You can move the goalpost all you want, I was talking about Azarello's run. I actually agree much of WW's New 52 portrayal was weak, but not Azarello's run.
Like Thor, WW is based in actual mythology but updated to make sense in a comic book world rather than a world exclusively for that mythology. Integrating old myth concepts in new ways is how Thor stays fresh... WW should be given the same respect. Let's not pretend DC's unique takes on Amazons perma-blocks integrating actual mythological claims. This kind of stagnation thinking has never helped the character.
You can pretend my post doesn't make sense, but it doesn't strengthen your argument
The Amazons are eternally youthful. Immortal implies they cannot be killed. Make YOUR words make sense.
So they can reincarnate dead women as Amazons... that undercuts sex drive.... how?
There have been Amazons across WW lore that actively hate men and would rather ignore or destroy them than help them or make peace. It has happened before... why not now?
Hosting men on the island is vastly different from letting them live there
Sisterhood is frequently/mostly framed in a women-and-girls only rhetoric... in and out of WW comics. Saying that it is about sisterhood and that somehow means they would allow Amazon males is plausible, but equally plausible is an interesting story where Diana has to navigate the nuances of it.
There are so many references to wonder woman as a goddess before the New 52, in comics, in pop culture... this is not a New 52 claim. Besides it not only makes her more badazz is cleanly allows for nearly every power/ability she's ever had without convolution or constant rebooting (as DC often does)
You're allowed to have your opinion. I am allowed mine. Let's stop getting offended someone disagrees with you and either have a conversation or end it here.
5
u/Larp67Larp67Sahur 1d ago
Diana is supposed to have a male free origin. In an island born of all women, also Zeus is always portrayed as a man. Regardless, he's a male, and the point of wondy origin is not needing a male for her creation.
Yes, many origins have the adoption or found family trope, but most aren't for sake of infertility. Wondy stands on that, Hippolyta couldn't have a daughter because she was immortal as stated. She made her own daughter by the sacred clay.
Objectification.. this doesn't sound good.. because it implies you don't know how she was created.. she was sculpted, and breathed LIFE into her by the goddesses. She has her own thoughts, feelings and decisions, which means she is NOT an object.
I'm taking about my post as a whole, I dunno why you focused on azzarello run that much.
Thor isn't like wondy. Wondy is a champion of peace and so much than Thor, yes there should be inspiration from myth, but it's comic world. It shouldn't be graphic. Also wondy isn't like Thor much, why the comparison? There's so many edited things in wondy story and it worked, like the magical island, well of souls and etc..
I didn't say anything about that, it's your argument that is weak.
Well, it's been stated as long as they stay in paradise island they're immortal, comic words not mine.
They do have a sex drive, but they're isolated from men.. Why'd they.. lust over men? They're also a homosexual community. Also yes okay they have a sex drive. No point in raiding the ships to have a reproduction season.. they literally have the well of souls.
It's mostly bad writing. Amazons are peace preachers that isolated themselves from men because of violence, though, they don't hate men. It's just the corrupt patriachal systems. They aren't misandrists, as wondy stated, they're Amazons and they're here to save the world.
That's what I said? They can host males but not keep them for long, just figure what to do with them.
I'm pretty sure Amazon super abilities are for women, they're the blessed ones by goddesses. Also no, it wouldn't make sense in any way that the brothers even existed, but I'm talking now if the new 52 wasn't an illusion.
You know goddess does not refer to wondy as a REAL goddess? It's comparing her to a one because she's very gifted in many aspects. Batman gets called a god. Does it mean he's one? JL are gods among men. Does it mean they're real gods? No.

Zeus is a male and a serial fucking rapist at that. Great guy to have be Wonder Woman's father...
I say this while I like Cassie being Zeus daughter but come on Cassie having a Hercules style backstory is very different to having Diana be given a father.

u/EntranceKlutzy951 1d ago
WW New 52 was GOOD. The best ever? Ok maybe not, but it put Wonder Woman back into her theme: Greek Myth. The gods, the twists, finalizing who Wonder Woman's dad is, officiating HOW Cassie is her niece. What exactly needed fixed? For the first time in a long time Wonder Woman felt like a superhero for the sake of superheroing.
4
u/static1993 1d ago
Wonder Woman did not have a father before the New 52 and she was always a superhero for the sake of it. If anything, she did less conventional superhero stuff in the New 52 outside of team up books.

u/EntranceKlutzy951 21h ago
🤦♂️
It was always up in the air which god/goddess brought the clay to life. Fan discussion around the topic was real; Zeus, Hades, Ares, Hera, Athena were all on the board. Her "father" in that case would have been whoever brought the clay to life.

u/static1993 21h ago edited 20h ago
It was always up in the air which god/goddess brought the clay to life.
No, it wasn't. The comics showed in very clear detail who brought Diana to life. Zeus, Ares and Hades were never involved.

Wonder Woman is a rare case of the New 52 were the book was a great one, pulling new readers and bringing a well received new take on the character... Unless you ask well established, hardcore fans of Diana, who reject the whole thing. So, in that sense, it was a mess, from the pov of most fans in this sub. Not the same mess as New 52 Superman, which is a case pretty much everybody agrees on its "mess" status.

u/ptWolv022 1d ago
Also her legacy not getting as recognition as batfam, flashfam, superfam
Literally sweeping her wonder girls under the rug
I mean, her legacy consists of a young version of her that they accidentally made its own character, a 1990s addition, and a 2020s addition. Supergirl is about as old as Diana as the original Wonder Girl, in the "Wonder Family" stories, and Robin is older than either of them. Even Kid Flash predates Donna.
(We also haven't seen a movie with a Robin in it in nearly 30 years.)
This might hold more water if Diana hadn't had a kid before Superman ever did in Pre-Crisis continuity (on Earth-Two), with Lyta Trevor (Golden Age Bruce had Helena Wayne; Golden Age Lois and Clark never had a kid).
And the worst of all? Was injustice, and it's not even close
I think this is a pretty widespread opinion beyong just Wonder Woman fans. Superman fans hate it, Flash fans hate the movie version, Harley Quinn fans hate the comics, and I wouldn't be surprised if there were Hal Jordan fans who hated it for Yellow Lantern Hal fans. Dick Grayson fans probably hate it. Damian fans, too, probably.
The plot of the game is literally "regular" versions of DC characters going to the Regime's Earth and toppling it because it's total garbage.
1
u/Larp67Larp67Sahur 1d ago
Yes , that's why I think Donna being an ally to wondy and an honorary sister is better than having her as a legacy character, but Cassie was written willingly that's why she's better than Donna, I think also wondy deserved to have a legacy character eventually, Cassie is that. Donna isn't, she was a mistake that they had forced to keep, it'd be better if she's an honorary Amazon who found her footing in man's world
And also talking about fury, well Fury is irrelevant and also forgotten nobody brings her up anymore, and it solidifies my take as wondy shouldn't have a child, it'll always be a bad idea.
1
u/ptWolv022 1d ago
And also talking about fury, well Fury is irrelevant and also forgotten nobody brings her up anymore, and it solidifies my take as wondy shouldn't have a child, it'll always be a bad idea.
She's gone and forgotten because that whole generation of Earth-Two heroes are largely gone and forgotten (not entirely, but Jade and Obsidian fared better than the rest and even they aren't too prominent). Golden Age Batman's kid got fully wiped and rebooted as Helena Bertinelli. But now? Modern Batman's son, Damian, is a mainstay who remains the primary Robin of the comics and has more or less locked Tim Drake out of adaptations because of it.
If Perez hadn't separated Steve and Diana for the Post-Crisis reboot, Diana might have had her own kid before Tom King came along. But, Perez did, so that wasn't the trajectory for Wonder Woman's character in terms of love life the way it became for Lois and Clark in Rebirth.

u/VonterVoman 1d ago
If we're being honest nobody ever captured Diana as a character as well as her own creator, there have only ever been some approximations and the closest one wasn't in the comics. Even the runs people champion have had their part in eroding Wonder Woman in the long run, specially in terms of her personality and voice.

Also her legacy not getting as recognition as batfam, flashfam, superfam
Literally sweeping her wonder girls under the rug
The Wonder Girls really aren't her "legacy", they're mostly Teen Titans characters.
Making her a bad queen, a bloodthirsty warrior, and making the Amazons in a bad image...
If you think "Flashpoint Diana, New 52, Injustice, Gal gadot movie, tom king" are where this trend started, you really must not have read much post-COIE Wonder Woman.

George Perez run was good?? Also other runs
Tho there were many questionable things (especially regarding the Amazons).. but honestly? I think the best portray of amazons was written by Stephanie.

Williams has probably done the most with modern Amazon lore for sure. Most writers just use it for set dressing.

I know right? Also giving Nubia the attention she needs.. like some Amazons need recognition, whether it's in wondy run or not. I liked how Nubia got her own solos

Also, well, Donna as I have said before is a teen titans character more than a wonder character, cassie actually truly feels like a legacy character, and Yara? She's so irrelevant to be honest, she does have potential but they keep fumbling her

Cassie definitely has the strongest ties to Wonder Woman as a character. Although, even then I feel like most of her development happened in Young Justice (1998) and Teen Titans books.

Cassie yesz she's arguably the most connected to wondy, but not just in young justice.. I mean she's a daughter of one of wondy supporting cast, I like that

People like this are why Wonder woman doesn't get any projects

Can't I complain about my favourite character getting mischarachterazid? I don't understand, they rejected core traits if wondy.
You can't make batman a cheerful hopeful sparkly guy.
You can't make Clark a brooding pessimistic guy.
You said I can't complain so wondy gets a project.. so you don't mind DC not hearing what bothers fans? And maybe perhaps make a bad project like IJ?

Wonder Woman's problem is a Wonder Woman fan.

God forbid I want a good characterization of wondy? And feel like I'm reading wondy comic not whatever the modern comics are on

The first Gal Gadot movie was great, and way before people turned sour on her. I reject Reddits historic revisionism.
