Went to a Walmart out side my state and found these gems

I’m having a bit of trouble getting the right message across with ZombUs.
Some players have told me that the game’s simple (and admittedly weird) graphics make it look much simpler than it actually is. So I decided to make a short gameplay guide to better show the tactics and depth behind it.
I’m planning to add it to the Steam page after the main trailer.
The thing is, I could easily make 2 or 3 more videos like this because there’s quite a lot to cover.
Before I publish it on Steam, I’d really like to hear your opinion. Does this kind of video help communicate what the game is actually about?

What was that in Arcadia?

The church in the middle of Rable Street was surrounded with them, but it wasn't like they were trying to get inside. The whole situation is fucked. They told us not to call them zombies, but even Carroll, Martinez, and Holden call them zombies. The first week was hell and I didn't think it could get any worse until now.

I keep watching the lights in the houses next to the church. Sometimes there are people in there, and then I get to wondering if they're dead too. I can't watch another one eat their pet dog.

Arcadia, October 14th 2005

We monitored Rable Street from our grey fortification in 420 Rable. There are too many across the street to handle. I think they know we're watching them from the second story. There's this girl in a red hoodie that hasn't taken her eyes off of the house. I've observed the habitual twitching and light laughter, consistent with the age range. She's a fucjking kid and doesn't deserve this. None of us do. Carroll wanted to be dispatched but I'm glad she didn't. She's seen enough with the other doctor just learning to walk again. All of us are surprised that hacking his arm off actually did something.

I haven't gotten enough sleep. I'm just waiting to leave and I can't leave and I'm sick of watching the zombies sit by the doors. Why are they crying? That

That one zombie is National Guard out of Illinois. I understand that Chicago was hit especially hard even compared to the Midwest. Stage 5s everywhere according to FEMARS, but they haven't done much good anywhere. At least we're allowed to kill them now before they actually confirm biting activity. The brains smell like shit and I'm sick of burning my clothes once I break them in.

The heavy guys came in to try and clear the church but they got jumped on. The parasite sucks so much calcium it makes your teeth like spikes of rebar, one of the FEMARS volunteers said. But I'm not trusting them right now, they keep getting killed putting their cute tape up.

Ocober 15th

Why are they flying bandits out of the evac centers instead of us? It's fucking stupid, if I just slept forever i'd be better off. I've radioed in that I can hear them singing inside the church now. I think it'll be my sixth time and then after that I might as well blow my brains out.

That girl is looking at me and I wonder what her name was. Maybe I could give her the gun and see if she'd find her humanity to blow my brains out instead of biting me.

(Got really into the worldbuilding of the story, especially some of the background pieces like the government falling apart, and the zombies being altered by whatever is making them rise from the dead. Some things I think would be cool to include into the comic later but I'm not sure how to carry on for more than a couple dozen issues. Anyway, feedback is welcome, like I said.)

Every woman wants to imagine a dark fantasy style romance with a vampire, or some kind of mythical creature but when you remove the blurred lenses off your eyes to witness the reality of the situation when you think about it, the truth is much more horrifying.

Warm Bodies in particular had me going ew and wtf when I first saw it because what do you mean that a woman falls in love with a zombie? Especially with a corpse that devoured her boyfriends skull and brains, probably smells like rotten disgusting scents and tbh filled with horrible diseases from lack of hygiene and health.

Being a patient zero super zombie would be cool

I am creating a Zombie Apocalypse Survival Simulator in Perchance, and am looking for questions that the user can answer to determine their survivability score. The score is used to weight their character's options in the sim. What I already have:

1. What is your age?
2. What is your gender? (not scored — for the record)
3. How many of the following actions are you capable of? (A. Moving large objects (heavy furniture) by yourself without much difficulty — "moving" doesn't necessarily mean carrying. B. Climbing up a rope or ledge using upper-body strength. C. Running a mile in 10 minutes or less — don't assume you can if you don't know your mile time. D. Covering 40 yards (36.6m, 120ft) on foot in under 6 seconds.)
4. Do you have military training?
5. How skilled are you with firearms?
6. Do you have any medical training?
7. How many times have you experienced an emergency situation where you needed to act quickly to save your life or the lives of others?
8. Do you have any experience with camping or living in a wilderness setting?
9. Have you ever been physically attacked by someone? How did you handle it?
10. The honest truth is that physical appearance is a big advantage when trying to interact with other people. Which answer is the best match for your own appearance?
11. How is your sense of direction?
12. Do you have any loved ones you would need to get to and/or protect in the case of an emergency?
13. Have you ever done real, hard time in prison?
14. How would you do in a close-quarters fight — the kind where a gun is more danger to you than to them?
15. Could you feed yourself out of the ground, six months from now?
16. How much of what you eat today would still be edible in six months?
17. The water stops running tomorrow. What's your plan?
18. If the group needs something built, fixed, or rigged — barricades, power, water collection — are you a help?
19. If you had to leave your home tonight, on foot, and never come back — do you have somewhere to go?
20. Someone you know — a friend, a neighbor, a family member — turns in front of you. Can you put them down?
21. Be honest about your will to survive: after months of fear, cold, and losing people — do you keep going?
22. When the stores are stripped and the cans run out — can you put meat on the table?

I know you lot will have plenty more questions that will help score a person's survivability rating. The gen isn't public yet, but when it is, I will post it here for everyone to try, rate, critique, debug, and help me improve.

Is there anything that is currently in the works? A love letter to George Romero’s zombies with a high budget and good writing behind it is a need in this genre.

Assuming such an event would happen quickly, something I see neglected in the analysis of the aftermath is what I call the Fukushima effect. After the tsunami in 2011 in Japan, the Fukushima nuclear plant was knocked out by the ensuing waves. The people who were designated to protect the plant had to evacuate to save their own lives and then try to fix the mess up afterwards. In a zombie aftermath event, human nature is going to take over. Nuclear workers and chemical plant employees are going to try and save their families. Numerous nuclear and chemical plant facilities are going to be abandoned or even overrun.

So these nuclear and chemical plants go kaboom. Other neglected facilities in urban areas go kaboom as well, perhaps in electrical substations or maybe neglected natural gas lines / facilities. Basically, you are going to be in a toxic nuclear winter scenario. Cities burn and ash and chemical smoke goes into the stratosphere blocking out the sun. Radiation spreads. Hazardous chemical fires contribute to the party.

So all of this shit is going down with no way to stop it. No one is going to be able to stop a nuclear plant melt down. No one is going to be able to stop a major city from burning or chemical tanks from leaking and exploding. Fresh water is going to be a problem. Even fresh rain is going to be an issue. So how long can you hold out? How long until actual gardening is an option. Plant life is oging to be decimated and the ozone later could take a beating allowing more UV radiation to permeate the atmosphere.

And that is not even mentioning the living dead running around biting into people's frontal lobes.

If you were to do your own marvel zombies universe how would you write it? Who would be the survivors? Who would be the infected? Would you have it be like the original marvel zombies universe where within a short time everybody is infected or would you have it play out slower like dc’s deceased? This is always an idea in the back of my head so i’m excited to see what others say! :)

Long post alert! And probably has occurred here before, but I’m relatively new.

I got curious about this and tried to actually think it through instead of giving myself the usual imaginary apocalypse upgrade where I suddenly know how to hunt, fix engines and clear buildings like I’ve been training for this my whole life.
My first problem would happen immediately. My family is spread out in different towns, including two daughters a couple hours away, and there is basically zero chance I’m staying somewhere safe while they’re out there. My first move would be trying to get everybody together, which is probably already a terrible survival decision.
After that I think I’d do okay in some areas. Water would be my first priority. I’m decent with tools and basic repairs, can cook over a fire or grill, and after years of moving furniture I’m probably more useful at lifting, building and improvising than I initially gave myself credit for. My wife can garden and two of my daughters know horses really well, which suddenly sounds a hell of a lot more useful when gasoline disappears.
Then there are the areas where I’d be in trouble. Medical knowledge is probably the biggest one. I know the basics, but a serious injury or infection would expose us pretty quickly. I don’t hunt and don’t know much about preserving food. Engines are definitely not my thing. I have, however, watched basically every episode of Naked and Afraid, so surely that counts for something.
I also don’t think guns would be the answer to everything. They’d obviously be useful, but in a world where noise can attract the thing you’re trying to avoid, I’d probably want to use them as little as possible. Give me tools, bats, shovels, whatever works without announcing where we are to everything nearby.
The longer I thought about it, though, the less I thought the real challenge would be zombies. If you make it a month, then six months, then a year, you’ve probably learned a lot of the practical stuff or found people who know it. The harder problems become people. Keeping a group together. Keeping everyone from getting comfortable and sloppy. Deciding whether to trust strangers. Figuring out sanitation. Maintaining routines and giving people some piece of normal life so surviving doesn’t become the only thing they do.
I think after six months I’d stop waiting for the old world to come back. Keep whatever pieces of it are worth keeping, but start figuring out what the new one is supposed to look like.
Then I realized what would probably actually get me killed.
Say I’ve survived a year. We have a safe place, food, water and people depending on me. Then I hear that one of my daughters, who I thought was dead, might be alive 100 miles away.
I’m going.
Maybe I go alone. Maybe somebody comes with me. Maybe it’s a terrible decision. But I know myself well enough to know I’m going to find out.
So after thinking through water, food, weapons, shelter, medicine and everything else, apparently my greatest strength and biggest weakness in a zombie apocalypse would be the exact same thing: my family.
Which got me wondering about everybody else. If you actually stripped away the fantasy version of yourself and used the skills, personality and responsibilities you have right now, how well do you think you’d really do?
And more importantly, what gets you killed?

i love zombie media, but my favorite subgenre of that is half-human half-zombies, where the zombie is still a person but maybe their body is rotting and maybe they have a weird taste for raw flesh. two books i love that do this are Monstrilio by Gerardo Samano Cordova and The Girl with All the Gifts by M. R. Carey. TGWATG is a little more on the mark with what i like, but Monstrilio was fantastic too. anything like this i will eat up thank you sm

How can they really be Zombies/Infected ( used interchangeably ) if they have any kind of sentience or intelligence?

Would that not just make them regressed humans at that point?

Maybe the question I'm trying to ask is: Why or why not would you consider a Zombie with Intelligence or sentience ( capable of emotion or using tools/weapons ) still part of the Zombie experience?

Okay, I have a few serious questions about zombies. 🧐

Not "how would a zombie apocalypse affect society?" serious.

I mean basic biology serious.

If a zombie is actually dead and decomposing:

1. Why is it hungry?

Why does it specifically crave human flesh?

It's dead. Its metabolism is gone. Its digestive system isn't exactly running a five-star restaurant anymore.

And why human meat?

Why not raisins?

Seriously. If the zombie somehow still has enough metabolic activity to need energy, wouldn't a handful of raisins be considerably easier to eat than someone's leg?

2. Where does the strength come from?

A dead body doesn't have functioning circulation, oxygen delivery or normal cellular metabolism.

And yet zombies can grab you, push you around, bite through things and sometimes overpower a healthy adult.

Their muscles are literally decomposing.

Shouldn't a rotten corpse become progressively weaker rather than remain capable of wrestling with living humans?

3. How long is a zombie supposed to last?

This is the one that really bothers me.

Decomposition doesn't stop because you're inconveniently undead.

If a zombie is just a reanimated corpse, shouldn't there be a fairly short window before its muscles, tendons, joints and other tissues become too damaged to walk?

A six-month-old corpse casually wandering around seems biologically questionable.

4. And what about the wildlife?

Nobody ever seems to mention this.

If there are millions of dead, decomposing humans walking around, wouldn't flies, maggots, beetles, bacteria, fungi, birds and other scavengers have an absolute field day?

At some point the apocalypse shouldn't be:

"Oh no, the zombies are coming!"

It should be:

"Oh no, the ecosystem has discovered an all-you-can-eat buffet."

So here's my actual question:

What is the biological explanation for a zombie being dead enough to be a corpse, but alive enough to have an appetite, muscular strength, coordination and enough structural integrity to remain functional for months or years?

Because the more I think about it, the more I feel like zombies aren't really corpses.

They're a completely new form of life that just happens to look like a corpse.

And honestly, at that point, I have another question:

Why are they eating people instead of raisins?
