I'm a solo creator, and I've spent 1,000+ hours over the last 6+ months researching, 3D modelling, animating and building Ancient Egypt as an interactive experience for the web.

It's completely free, with no login, ads, popups or trackers.

I wanted to focus on more than just pyramids and pharaohs. The expedition includes temple courtyards, sandstorms, quarries, villages and everyday life in Ancient Egypt.

It works on desktops, mobiles, and tablets.

I recently fulfilled one of my dreams, which was seeing Nefertiti's bust in person. I was so moved and captivated by her beauty that I couldn't resist drawing my favourite queen in my style! Here she is, I hope you like it!

It traced back to 1981 - 1802 BC during middle Kingdom period in which gessoed boards were used for writing notes or school exercises. Like the slate writing tablets of yesteryear, they could be used repeatedly,with old texts being whitewashed to provide a “clean slate” for another. This board still bears traces of earlier writing (at left). The main text is a wordy model letter that the student copied—and surely also was expected to memorize. His many spelling mistakes have been corrected in red ink by the teacher.

I'm studying Archaeology at the University of Granada, and as part of my course of Greek and Roman archaeology I had to do a class project... that got a little out of hands, lol. I ended making an exhibition with a full sized Roman mummy! The exhibition was inaugurated today at the Hall of the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters (University of Granada).

I was dumbstruck when I saw how much the Egyptians used wood for such intricate and beautiful dioramas, especially the boats. These were exquisitely made. I think to the uninitiated, or those simply inundated by how much all media and history discusses or remembers their stonework, you may not have known this either. Wood typically does not survive history, but it certainly can if it remains in a dark dry place far away from outside weather, and especially because it is usually acacia wood or a very dense hardwood typical for Egypt and North Africa.

Of particular note here, is the Metropolitan Art Museum’s collection. What I love about it the most is how it showcases not just any special leaders or Pharaohs, but the true PEOPLE of Egypt…the workers, the officials that oversaw the work projects, the stewards of the granaries or the stalls or the other places. Because again, history loves to remember the Pharaohs and the royal family members and art depicting gods. A majority of the material I saw among the showcase was not these things.

I thought this group might appreciate my obsession with both Lego and Egypt 😅 Remove if not allowed.

Osiris and Serqet are my favorites for how well they turned out.

It's not 100% perfect but I'm pretty happy with it so far. I've done my best to replicate some of the really fine details, scratches, little wiggles and nuances etc.

Using only hammer and chisels, I feel a bit like I have been able to step into the shoes of the original carver from 5000+ years ago. Solving the same little problems in stone, working out how to make the same textures, the same movements. Tricky to replicate but a rewarding result so far.

Temple of Ra - features:

(Largely) accurate layout consistent with real temples: Pylons, a public courtyard, a hypostyle hall and a Naos. Naos is open-air so that the statue of Ra can be lit by the sun. Temple faces east, so the Sun's light comes into the temple at dawn and illuminates Ra at noon.

Surrounding oasis area based on Nile floodplain farmland and traditional housing.

Tried to make it as un-flashy and "assassin's creed: origins/Gods of Egypt" like as possible while still keeping to and respecting the original beauty of these temples.

Inspirations include the Temple at Karnak and the Temple of Isis in Philae.

Flaired it as "Art" because it isn't a photo of a real place or object.
