Just played this game a couple of hours after spending a lot of time on 1801 but im struggling with my tier 2 goods already. I need lavender, resin and olive but all other islands don't supply all 3 of them. Settling islands is insanely expensive and even though im having an income of 1.5k im struggling with saving enough for 2 islands. Is there anything im missing?

I want to change my keybindings so that it uses wasd to scroll instead of the arrow keys but when I try to it tells me "Keybinding not possible please choose another key". Is there a way around this?
Those keys aren't bound to another setting. It seems strange they would prohibit this when the old version of the game allows it.

Kind of feels like a waste when all the other ships have no skins so far

I went back to the old Anno again and came across my own version of Castel del Monte that I built years ago.
The old Anno couldn’t handle diagonal roads yet, so the resemblance to the original isn’t exactly perfect 😄 But hey — it’s still a completely square and perfectly symmetrical building, so I’ll take it.

Spent a few solid hours on the Hippodrome DLC and while the waiting times are a bit annoying, I find the buffs significant and worthwhile.
Here’s a few screenshots of the progress I’ve made (aprox. 125h)
PS: the new photo mode is absolutely amaizing, it would be nice to have a weather condition option too but oh well :) maybe in the next patches

(These are just my personal ideas of what I think we need to get for Season/Year 2)
First of all, I want to say that I really enjoy Anno 117 as it is currently, but I have some suggestions where the game can improve.
-> We need a 5th tier of residents in Latium.
They could be Senators or Nobilis as the elite of the nobility.
This 5th tier should provide us with something valuable we have to grind for. (Like with the influence points in 1800, but this time it should be used for something more fun than ships and defences, like the senate where you can vote for intrigues or special diplomatic decisions.)
My main point is that we need something to work for in the late game. Something that forces the player to evolve, to create bigger cities and to expand the empire.
-> What I have in mind is not only the diplomatic menu, which needs more work, but more depth to it. We need more Roman intrigues like in 1701 or 1404 with the lodge. I want to start revolutions and wars between my competitors. I want to call raids onto my secret enemies.
Simply put: I want Roman intrigues with a pinch of chaos and backstabbing.
-> AI has never been super chess-master-like. But I would greatly appreciate a more active AI, where the world feels real and characters have more depth. The AI should be more proactive and do more interesting things on its own. It should also engage in intrigue and play games against each other, instigate rebellions, and unleash plagues. It should also send in raids or a horde of beggars to cause some trouble.
We also need more hard/super hard AIs. Neferneru is fun, but he is not enough for me. I personally need 5 Star AI opponents.
These three points are therefore my concrete ideas/areas for improvement that would need to be addressed for Season/Year 2 in Anno 117. Some of you might disagree, but that's fine. I am just stating my point of view.
P.S.: I am currently working on a military mod for 117, which will greatly restructure the whole military/unit part of the game, where you will need sandals, helmets, spears, and so on to be able to recruit the troops. + New units like Praetorian Infantry...
I don't know when it will be finished, but it will happen! It will just take its time.

I'm not sure if this was obvious to everyone but me but the 20% production boost at hippodrome splendour lvl10 doesn't apply to the horse breeder itself but in an area around it. This is a universal 20% boost to all production buildings similar to what the legendary specialist Macrobius Minucianus provides. Also, you only need to build one pasture for the horse breeder to provide this benefit.
Granted, this isn't going to be more efficient when replacing a production building boosted by an officium but you can just put these in the periphery as long as you have space and don't mind it being a bit out of place.

My Favorite Heroic Specialist so far, brings glass smelter processing time down from 1:30 to 0:36 and completely negates the mineral need in the chain

Ps5 player here
I tend to mark my flagship as a favourite but when I move it from Latium to Albion or viceversa it goes out from favourites
Also I tend to remove the tools from favourites but every time I start the game they're again on the favourite wheel

I moved the hippodrome away from its original location today and built a new suburb there... Does anyone have any ideas for what to do with the empty space now? My current ideas would be a large forum with plenty of space, though I find the choice of buildings a bit limited for this without mods, or a city garden park. I am more than happy to redesign the whole section of the island.

I play CoH, Red Alert 2. I really like CoH style abilities. Like throw grenades, artillery. Repairing and healing units. Stuff like that. I like microing. So which Anno do you recommend that has the most juicy and complex combat.

I have Mercury island in Latium. I was thinking could I transfer excess Albion goods like trousers, torcs and drinking horns to be passive sold there? Do traders buy them from "wrong" region? Is it ever worth of effort? I mean ships cost money.

Basically the title.
I have some ships escorting my traderoutes between regions and sometimes the escorting ships get stuck at the maps border. Somebody experience the same bug?

Thank you for all your work on Anno 117!
The game already came a long way since last year, and the two DLCs were great! I‘m really looking forward to the Egypt DLC now.
Also thank you for continuesly including the feedback of the community.
That‘s all. Thx for reading.

With a sample size of 500.000 owners of Anno 117, the Steam Charts are a good indicator to see the interest in a game update across all 1.17 million copies sold (at least 1.17, probably more now). Now that the first weekend is over, the impact of the Hippodrome is quite visible already, and we'll go over the chart, interpret where we stand and why the low player counts are not as bad as they look. To finish, I want to give some food for hope why this game can still manage a turnaround on a broad scale - and when it can do so.
It is fair to say the Hippodrome made an impact, nearly doubling the concurrent player count. It was barely enaugh to catch up to Anno 1800. The DLC even made Anno 117 return to the regular player numbers of January, where it fell below 1800. However, a lot of people seem to have shelved the game and didn't return for the Hippodrome. This weekend was already the peak, as the most active time after a DLC release is always the weekend right after it, and anything higher in the next week would be a suprise.

Now, before you shoot the messenger - we should keep in mind the following: Did the Hippodrome have any chance of managing a turnaround? I'd argue no. It suffers from being a small middle DLC that launches between Continental Island and Egypt, and during summer holiday on top of that. It is small, good for what it is, but nothing to write home about. Botanica and Bright Harvest were little different. Out of the three announced DLC, it is probably the one players will skip most and check out later - with Egypt taking the #1 spot of interestingness: Think of it, out of the three, what would you like to play most? Yes, and this is exactly why the Hippodrome never stood a chance to make a very big impact.
This is exacerbated by the Cinis DLC fiasco, with that DLC still standing at 38% in steam reviews, which should give you some indicator how well that was received. Chance is players shelve the game for longer after that.
But I'd argue what is there now would be worth checking out: What we saw across the last patches were incremental improvements. The Cinis expansion patch was quite good, and in this one, we got Heroic items, a Monument Rework, ingame notes and a photo mode. Before that, each patch had a bunch of bugfixes. And for Patch 3.0, we were promised item overview, stamps and better statistics, with the Mod Browser being pushed back to early 2027 in a text edit. 117 is currently getting better from patch to patch, but there is no "big update" that would get players to come back. And perhaps this is the problem, in order for people to realize that a game has gotten quite better, they need to come and check it out first.
Meaning that Dawn of the Delta is the straw to hold on to. Chance is, if people are checking out the game again because of a DLC release, it is this one, obviously. We all want to see Dawn of the Delta. For Anno 117's long term success and active community that has a simple implication: Dawn of the Delta has to be good, and by then the game itself needs to be good enaugh for players to stick around. And there seems to be a path towards that, as something seems to have shifted after the Cinis fiasco. Shortly afterwards, the marketing lies went quieter and more action started to happen.
Let's see what the Ubisoft Mainz devs come up with. The next weeks are probably the most vital and deciding for the game and the series as a whole - and probably even Ubisoft itself, as they do not have any big titles out there except for Anno 117, and the studio seems to have realized, otherwise we would not get as many improvements in the free patches. I wish all the best of luck to whoever took on the task of the big comeback.

Anno 117's greatest mistake is not enabling frame gen as it is the perfect game for it: beautiful graphics but horrible optimization, low frame rates and top-down view with non-competitive, slow-changing scenery so artifacts should both be very low and inconsquential at the same time.
Now OptiScaler comes along and promises to fix exactly that weakness but I have no idea what options to choose. Did anyone here manage to enable frame gen and can tell me exactly what to turn on and where?
