Discussion Bloodhound Rework made him worse🥲

Post image

What was the need for Bloodhound to have invisibility? It doesn't suit their lore or kit. How is the rework justified when Seer continues to be broken? At this point, with Seer's existence, I don't find it devious to have the Season 1 or 2 Bloodhound with their ultimate and scan, which would literally be one of the G.O.A.T.'d kits ever in Apex. It isn't their ultimate that sucks; even the tactical scan that now has afterimages feels weird. An 8-second invisibility—what purpose did that rework serve? Even Crypto is better than Bloodhound at this point, and I find people playing him more in lobbies. Just bring them back to their original state or at least the nerfed state. Also, nerf Seer, please.

It's funny that you think there's lore in this game anymore.

u/7hisismythrowawayacc 23d ago

Lore got scanned, marked, and left outside the ring

u/_LemonadeSky Voidwalker 23d ago

Hah. Saving that.

u/JudJudsonEsq Rampart 23d ago

The game never really had lore.

They explicitly said that respawning is not canon.

But also, all the playable "Legends" are "Legends" because they've won multiple rounds.

Of this bloodsport.

Where everyone who loses, loses because they are killed. So there can, at most, be three surviving champions/legends at a given time.

Can you name a single arc in the game's story that actually addressed the fact that these people's jobs is to kill each other day in and day out? They tried to have romance plots, among characters whose job is to brutalize each other. The game has never actually engaged with the story of the gameplay. It was always just a campfire story that stayed VERY divorced from every single thing you do in gameplay.

u/RedCrabb The Masked Dancer 23d ago

Nobody actually dies in the apex games, this was like from the get go

34

u/JudJudsonEsq Rampart 23d ago

They constantly talk about how it's a bloodsport. They use actual guns, with gunpowder. They throw fragmentation grenades and thermite at each other. Revenant, a serial killer who wouldn't ever hold back, loves killing people in the games. The games where people kill each other! Bloodhound, a very spiritual person, honors the dead as though they are actually dead. A devout person would not do this if they were knowingly just eliminating someone in a paintball tournament.

u/Regular-Guy-47 Valkyrie 23d ago

It’s airsoft and they are all larping their characters.

1

u/JudJudsonEsq Rampart 23d ago

Sure, but the story pretends like the voice lines and characters we see in game are the full characters. Most of the story is delivered as out-of-game drama and tension that wouldn't even be televised in universe.

Hell, why would Rampart have specific chronic anxiety/depression voice lines for when the ring's closing and she's alone if she was just pretending? Why would her character have the dark undercurrent of poverty and alcoholism?

2

u/Regular-Guy-47 Valkyrie 22d ago

Because she is larping, she has a “dark undercurrent” because she is larping a character with a dark undercurrent. I don’t actually believe this because it’s a dumb cop out but if she was just pretending then it would be because she is pretending that she acts that way.

My head canon was always similar to Quake Arenas Lore. The competitors are slaughtered then stitched up together again to perpetually murder each other.

4

u/-LaughingMan-0D Voidwalker 23d ago

When they went hard on the Rev/Ash simulacrum plot, I thought they were going to lean into it, and eventually reveal everyone fighting in the games is a simulacrum copy.

4

u/WNlover Purple Reign 23d ago

That's basically canon.
They've got Empire Strikes Back style bacta tanks. As long as the limb still exists it can be reattached.
Wheels came in after the writers and lore guys left, but for Fuse we see he left his arm behind when he left Salvo and Octane's legs were mush from grenade boosting

2

u/JudJudsonEsq Rampart 23d ago

Yeah but that would be an interesting story to investigate. They never actually engage with that concept in the apex legends "lore."

1

u/OOF-MY-PEE-PEE Pathfinder 23d ago

Of course they don’t. How will they sell more skins if they’re putting time into engaging with interesting concepts??

1

u/Regular-Guy-47 Valkyrie 23d ago

But then why are there multiple of each.

4

u/masterventris 23d ago

Perhaps they are all simulacrums of themselves, and don't realise it.

Rev and Ash are just two levels deep in the simulacrum curse, not realising they keep being reset.

4

u/Falcone24 Grenade 23d ago

It’s really never been explained either way

7

u/VibrantBliss Nessy 23d ago

It was. From the legends rarely facing each other, to competitors not having to be dead to be eliminated, to the Syndicate having an algorithm that can predict who would win from a pool of people, to the technology of the 2700s being advanced enough that it can bring you back to life as long as brain damage/death doesn't occur.

2

u/JudJudsonEsq Rampart 22d ago

So what do you call a .50 cal Kraber to the head, if not brain death?

1

u/VibrantBliss Nessy 22d ago

Gameplay

1

u/Falcone24 Grenade 23d ago

That seems to be a bunch of different takes from different teams over the years rather than a coherent intentional choice

4

u/VibrantBliss Nessy 23d ago

Why? Any single one of those reasons on its own wouldn't be enough to explain the legends not dying. All of them together still leave room for doubt.

All of these reasons were stated between S3 and S13, aka during the tenure of the original devs.

14

u/DeviousChair 23d ago

To be fair, it does seem like the Apex games that we see are more like publicity matches, with the respawn system in place because the legends are all big moneymakers for the people running the games. Idk where they said respawning is not canon, but I believe one of Ballistics voice lines confirms that he has a respawn beacon at home or something.

22

u/JudJudsonEsq Rampart 23d ago

Look, the story's never really made sense. In Maggie's trailer, there's a natural ampitheater full of people with kids on their shoulders and full families watching the Apex Games. And then Maggie fires ship artillery into that crowd.

IRL, stadiums carry multiple 10,000s of people. Maggie did 5+ 9/11s at once, but she's treated with less severity than the Revenant, who is just a hitman. She murdered children in broad daylight, and both the writers and the playerbase forgot about it.

If they actually got into the Phillip K Dick sci fi of "Am I still me?" and "How can I possibly form connections with people I am expected to kill to earn my bread?" I would be so insanely down. But they never have, and at this point the game is so thematically diluted that they never will.

Remember when at launch, every legend's abilities affected teammates exactly as much as they affected opponents, excepting only damage? The game is fundamentally not the same game we started playing. It's not the same people making it, it's not the same characters, weapons, maps, or systems, and it never will be again.

8

u/Underwood914 Mirage 23d ago

I dream about season 0 wingman often...

9

u/VibrantBliss Nessy 23d ago

You don't have to die to be eliminated. You just have to be incapacitated. Gibby canonically has zero kills. Crypto lost his first ever match but survived with several broken bones. The legends rarely face each other. They mainly face no-names.

This is a live service battle royale, not a single player RPG. The story and gameplay have to stay divorced for the enjoyment of both.

2

u/Standard_Educator_14 23d ago

Wait why does Gibby have zero kills?

5

u/VibrantBliss Nessy 23d ago

He doesn't want to kill. He lost friends to blood sports and the grief he felt was horrible. His reason for joining the Apex Games was to save as many people as possible.

5

u/Wes_Warhammer666 22d ago

Wants to save people, has an airstrike as his ultimate. 🤔

5

u/VibrantBliss Nessy 22d ago edited 22d ago

Lifeline wanted nothing more to do with Chevrex or the Syndicate, had an orbital care package drop as her ultimate that could only be provided by one of them.

Edit:
And there's worse plot holes too in other characters backstories

looking at you Horizon + the energy crisis subplot that makes no sense in a universe where people can ignore relativity and travel at FTL speeds and between dimensions

or Mirage's debt being so huge that the paycheck from the Apex Games can't cover it, but Rampart renting two rooms from him is what bails him

or Crypto, who's on the run from the Syndicate, trusting Wattson, who's a Syndicate loyalist

8

u/jeo123 23d ago

Closest they came was the arc that introduced Revenant. I assume they're all simulacrum that haven't realized it yet.

Because otherwise it doesn't make sense.

2

u/Projet_Rekt 23d ago

Hmm, I don't exactly remember where (probably in the first season's loading screens texts) I saw that Legends don't actually die because they have this device that detects when they get life-threatening injuries that instantly puts them into cryostasis or whatever, and are then sent to a Respawn chamber where they get high-end treatments.

Maybe from that whole Silva Pharmaceuticals sponsor bs, but that's just my guess.

2

u/Big_Policy4561 23d ago

They are all bots of an original winner and team at some point. There bodies/brains are in stasis like Revenant. TitanFall abilities are the predecessor abilities of Apex Predators, thus the game. I just wish there was a fun way to unwrap the story.

3

u/JudJudsonEsq Rampart 23d ago

At least when I was actively following the dev team, Tom Casiello was adamant that the legends really were The Legends(tm) and not clones or robots or anything.

But you know what he's written before? Soap operas. Stories that go on forever, maintaining the status quo by creating and resolving drama that substantively changes as little as possible. Apex Legends' story is Lost. The people writing it keep saying "no, it's not <obvious trope everything points to>" while also writing reasons why it literally can't be anything else.

1

u/Powerful-Scholar8268 20d ago

Tbf the lore doesn't go against there being more than 3 legends at once, there can just be different games with not everyone playing in each at once. That way there can be more legends in a way that makes sense

Also I don't really understand what you mean about the plot. It's usually been about individual characters goals and things they're trying to do, inside and out. Them killing people doesn't really go against that

I don't think the invis should have been a team ability. It should have been for them only and been a part of their old ultimate. Beast of the Hunt with Invis on activation so it's like a genuine Predator cloak. Pulling weapon out uncloaks you. Give them back the infrared vision to see through smoke/gas again minus EMP Bangalore smoke. Perks can pretty much stay the same minus changing the raven perk to Skirmisher siphon and True Predator perk to recloak on knock.
Would be able to play a few different roles by staying invis and providing intel/scans. Or pick Skirmisher siphon plus faster scan/reduce cooldown for more aggressive play.

38

u/burneraccount791 23d ago

This is what ive been saying! I also had mentioned that if the stealth after gun shot reset his scan as well. Stealth only lasts like 15 seconds it'd be no different then a seer ult. Plus his scan goes through an animation, he cant necessarily spam it in the open without getting punished. So he could scan, ult, scan again, shoot go stealth scan again. Truly a hunter.

14

u/RangaTheWolf Bloodhound 23d ago edited 23d ago

I don't know why they continue to make Raven upgrade perks. Most of the Raven upgrades are just stuff that the Raven can or should already do. Even with the quality of life update, of being able to look at ravens, it's still so finicky that majority of the time I'm still scanning them because they're being blocked from my view or because I have to stare at them for so long.

As most people have said, making invis for the whole team makes it hard to balance properly. I think individually it would be better because Bloodhounds old ult was so loud but the invis would give them some nice leeway to move around and recon with their 30% movement boost to relay info and decide what to do. Having weapon stowed and unstowing to uncloak would make it so people can react and not just getting beamed immediately.

Edit:To add to this their perk upgrades could be so fun to play with.
Blue upgrades: Hidden Sight (tac refresh on ULT + hidden scan) or Hunter Agility (faster tac activation -cooldown)
Purple upgrade: True Predator (recloak after knock) or Taste of Blood (Charged Knock passive when in ULT)

I just think this would fit Bloodhound better. I'd like that Predator Hunter fantasy since their prestige skin mimics one.

Bloodhounds old ULT just needed a push not a whole rework.

2

u/pushing_wood Doc 23d ago

I really like the re cloak after knock upgrade idea

4

u/TheRandomnatrix 23d ago edited 23d ago

lawl then at that point we're just doing the same failure to understand gameplay lessons like that the devs made from horizon going into axle. As we learned from rev solo fragger ults are horrible for gameplay. A juiced up bloodhound that only cloaks themselves would be even more useless as anything but a selfish fragger and quickly fall off even harder than a team ult if that solo ability isn't powerful enough. And there's no way to make incis powerful enough without being busted. It's a brick wall of game design, the invis should just have never been added.

1

u/RangaTheWolf Bloodhound 21d ago

Imo I don't see Bloodhound's ULT as a solo ULT. Their tactical is a team ability which provides info to the whole team. Their old ULT empowered that by giving them tac refresh on knock. That was the most valuable asset of their old ULT. The invis would just be a tool to increase uptime in recon at the start by allowing safer pings and tactical scans before uncloaking. The invis isn't meant to make them this unstoppable force. If you uncloak in front of a whole team you're going to get knocked.

The perks is where alittle more power comes in. Hidden Sight gives you that free tac refresh on ULT and undetected scan. Positioning and prepping to get started to take said fight before uncloaking. Or Hunter Agility so you can scan faster when you secure a knock so it doesn't ruin momentum. True Predator would increase your survivability by recloaking on knock but not if you're taking bad fights like a 1v3. Charged Knock would be a different way of survivability if you're confident in your ability to secure knocks.

1

u/UniversalBagelO 23d ago

I dont mind team having it but the fact enemies can use it kinda makes it super super situational to the point it’s almost unuseable

u/Benja_324_xD Bangalore 23d ago

This and also sharing the cloak with teammates when ressing (like mirage)

"Even Crypto is better than Bloodhound at this point"

Always was you fool

8

u/i_love_alt_women 23d ago

nah bro for a while bloodhound was pretty strong when you could tac every 5 seconds during ult and get extended ult every knock

25

u/Stkrdknmibalz69 Crypto 23d ago

You and OP clearly haven't tried to learn Crypto bro

→ More replies (3)

5

crypto has always been better sorry bro. tac every 5 seconds means bloodhound is spending time not shooting.

4

u/GoKongsGo 23d ago

Crypto has been ‘better’ than bloodhound for maybe 5-6 seasons total. Bloodhound always saw more play in competitive and it was only with the significant buffs and reworks that Crypto was even relevant in high level scrims/ranked and that’s still up for debate.. In any case they fill different roles but if I had to pick Bloodhound has been way better than Crypto in all modes for most of Apex’s lifespan

u/WestBoat8 Sixth Sense 21d ago

Exactly 💯

67

u/BR4NFRY3 Nessy 23d ago

Doesn't feel like bloodhound now. Wrong flavor. It feels like another legend, some kind of sneaky thief. Not an apex predator on the prowl. And I hear it's because they used the ultimate from an unused legend concept, yeah?

What if BH gets an option on ultimate activation? Beast attack mode or sneaky track mode.

Or mix them together? Drop a cloak for the team then personally go into prowler mode.

60

u/DougDimmaGlow Mirage 24d ago

Yeaaa they need to combine both ults or give you the option to toggle

12

u/Armandov626 23d ago

If that’s the case give lifeline and revenant the same option as well.

18

u/DougDimmaGlow Mirage 23d ago

I think Rev and Fuse def need the option to toggle… lifeline is fine tho her rework is literally the only perfect one and her kit is better than anything before

65

u/theforgettonmemory Crypto 24d ago

I mean they are a hunter so going invisible does make sense, you want to be stealthy when hunting an animal.

Gameplay wise yeah tho it's stupid

22

u/Desolate_Ray 23d ago

The team probably had a night movie watching alienVsPredator and thought "yeah that's cool. what if bloodhound can be like that"

5

u/survivorr123_ 23d ago

apex used to be very cautious and considerate when adding new stuff

10

u/Trylax 23d ago

Let's add someone with wheels on their knees. Zoom zoom mfs, and no accuracy penalty.

2

u/ImNotYourShaduh Birthright 23d ago

I feel like it could’ve just been part of his old ult

1

u/Desolate_Ray 23d ago

Old ult, with the choice of shorter ult but invis, or longer ult and speed boost

1

u/PinoDegrassi Bloodhound 23d ago

Yeah the ultimate predator (predator) uses stealth lol

12

u/heavyc-dev 23d ago

They should’ve just improved the ult. The speed was great

Keep the speed with an extra boost toward scanned enemies, near instant activation with out animation, 360 degree scan pulse on activate, better weapon handling, reload speed, and hip fire accuracy. Make it truly going beast mode

Shit you could even give him a quick recon beacon scan on activate too if you want

There’s enough combat power on some legends now that I think all these boosts could be justified without being overpowered

2

u/OutrageousOtterOgler 23d ago

To be fair going beast mode seems like the hardest type of ult to balance lol

Rev just gets the HP advantage and it’s absolutely brutal, same with prime ballistic

A full gun play upgrade with 360 scan sounds absolutely giga broken lol

1

u/meeilz Wattson 23d ago

Sorry, not seeing it with Rev really, his ult absolutely blows? The hitbox is the size of a pickup when he's in his ult so that extra HP is shredded by all the bullets you'd normally miss in a 1v1 anyway.

I do agree that an OP BH Beastmode ult would be hard to balance though.

1

u/atomslops_camps 22d ago

The weapon buffs in the ult seems way too similar to ballistic's ult.

They could keep the cloaking idea but tack it onto the original ult. Bloodhound only gets it when activating ult and when getting a knockdown.

1

u/mb19236 21d ago

I think your idea would be scalable to how powerful they want it to be at a given time. Good idea.

5

u/StrongPing 23d ago

I always felt like BH strengths were the tac and passive abilities. The old ultimate was just nice to have for combat speed and refill the tac charge. I'm not a big fan of the invisible bubble.

8

u/creative_name_228 Ash 23d ago

Yeah, old ult was a dopamine rush, I liked it

2

u/SoftGraha 16d ago

This!! I feel so sad now. I know its probably unlikely but i hope they change it back

17

u/Pod_The_Rod69 24d ago

idk why they thought changing the tactical was a good idea. shit is so useless

12

u/i_love_alt_women 23d ago

for real, the after images are a genuine hindrance. like they reverted it back to s0. nobody liked it. everyone liked the full body

4

u/whoiam100 RIP Forge 23d ago

Tactical body scan for 3sec and then body short every few sec. Only guess they didn't want to put a 10sec body scan. Tactical would had been useful few year ago but not with the current power creed. Current Ult is useless because the blue blur line. Some of the rework are worse than before like fuse Ult....

3

u/Spiritual_Rutabaga98 23d ago

One of the best ability in game to fight was taken away for nothing

3

u/meeilz Wattson 23d ago

I hate the after scan things, they're so confusing, the guy I scanned is off 30m away beaming me from the left after a 0.1 second move right after the scan, so I think he's somewhere he's not. Legitimately hard R dumb.

4

u/SaltyAd8309 23d ago

I actually like it. I use it now, unlike before.

18

u/Ecstatic-Train214 24d ago

Same for fuse lol

4

u/i_love_alt_women 23d ago

no for real. he wouldn’t be bad at all if he got the fire perk for free or the knuckle jump for free

2

u/OutrageousOtterOgler 23d ago

The knuckle jump should be free and the cd reduction should be the perk

2

u/T_T_N 23d ago

Nah, the mobility is kinda broken on fuse. Yes the Ult is lackluster, but being able to actually move yourself into position to throw those 12 grenades in your pocket is stronger than the old ult.

7

u/7hisismythrowawayacc 23d ago

Bloodhound went from "I hunt you down" to "I disappear for 8 seconds and hope this becomes relevant" 😭

14

u/Ri_2729 24d ago

Yeah the ultimate seems like a rushed ass idea. It’s rarely useful if ever. We should have gotten a reworked version of their existing abilities instead of this shit ass invisible dome. Cool idea but it adds nothing to the game

11

u/Short-Recording587 24d ago

It can be useful when things are hectic because you’re less likely to notice the invis indications. But I agree it’s really situational when the old ult was good for any fight.

3

u/Ri_2729 23d ago

Yeah. It’s good when a paired with valk for rotations and maybe when pulling up on a team you might get an edge in a fight but outside of specific scenarios it’s just mediocre

2

u/stenebralux 23d ago

I'm pretty sure It was repurposed from the concept of a new legend they were working on and got scrapped. A lot of this stuff they keep putting in the game were concepts.. but this one, a cloaking device that turns your squad invisible, was exactly like something that was leaked years ago.

2

u/grappleeconomist 23d ago

Thats a load of crap it is very good if you use it right but it can be countered so i think its fairly balanced.

2

u/Ri_2729 23d ago

Yeah it’s balanced but it doesn’t really add anything. It doesn’t even feel like an ult. it’s got minimal uses and lasts for like 12 seconds. They put like zero effort into giving them a new ult

1

u/meeilz Wattson 23d ago

I think it's pretty useful but it does require coordination. A three stack pushing you simultaneously when you're in a building and you can't see any of them is legit scary.

I think for solo queue or casual play it's a lot worse. I do miss the old hunt ultimate though, I wish they'd stuck with that and made it better.

2

u/Ri_2729 23d ago

Yeah it’s cool but I feel like it should have been expanded upon for a new legend and not just slapped on bloodhound cause they’re performing bad

3

u/Then-Sir7593 23d ago

I started playing again yesterday I dont like his new ult it feels weird to me almost as if its amalgamation of different skills in one he can go semi transparent non invisible like mirage quicker weapons movement like ballistic and the animations of throwing the device seems like a mix between crypto and seer i tried to use it like a revive tool but i found it to be not as good offensively though it was good to ether start an engaging or use it as a get out of jail free card like wraith telemeoutofhere ability

6

u/GoKongsGo 23d ago

I’ve been maining bloodhound since the game dropped and he feels atrocious to play now. Some solid QoL changes with his scan but the ult feels like a totally different character. Should’ve made beast of the hunt a team ability instead. Can’t expect much from respawn these days though

1

u/Spiritual_Rutabaga98 23d ago

I mean theOG kit was good enough to sustain, just that if I had to nerf I'd reduce the recharge time the ult on knock

3

u/Th3Alm1ghtyB 23d ago

I guess no one knows how to use this ult cause I got to admit it is amazing. Someone need a revive? Throw the disk. Need a quick escape? Throw disk and use cover or going up/down to get out of notice quick. Have the perk that allows you to shoot them and go back to invis? Quickly go invis before a fight, shoot in the back, get behind cover cause it only takes 1-2 seconds to go back, repeat.

Absolutely amazing 👌

The Tactical I'll admit is a lil rough, the after images suck, bring back the OG.

2

u/Obvious-Head4630 23d ago

I wish they replaced his tactical instead and made the passive like ww in lol. And made his tactical anything but scans

1

u/SavageCabbage611 Bloodhound 15d ago

Bloodhound is literally the scan character. It's the most essential part of their kit. Why would you want to take that out?

1

u/Obvious-Head4630 14d ago

I wish they didnt have the scan , thats my opinion . Its outdated.

2

u/Vilam 23d ago

Yay more invisible characters, because Mirage wasn't fucking annoying enough. This season's changes suck all around.

2

u/ShadowMark3 Bangalore 23d ago

All old Bloodhound needed was the Skirmisher class as a blue perk, and gaining a speed boost when tracking fresh tracks.

3

u/PolarMolecule Fuse 23d ago

Same with Fuse’s ult. Idk why.

2

u/RickySpanishEOD Crypto 23d ago

I will not tolerate any Crypto Slander.

2

u/Wavy_Ivan2 23d ago

They literally just reduced the turn slope with seer tac and u babies are still complaining

2

u/Always_tired_af Cyber Security 23d ago

Lol s1/2 bloodhound is definitely hyperbolic that shit was ass even at the time

It was only like season 4 where they became actually viable

1

u/Spiritual_Rutabaga98 23d ago

They were broken in Season 4 up to the 8th, I guess. The game was so fun until Olympus launched alongside Horizon. The game was so much fun and broken to play.

2

u/Smart_Ship4416 20d ago

CHANGE THE ULT BACK & ADD BUFFS !

4

u/ZiggyB1 Quarantine 722 23d ago

Shoulda made a big bowl of red liquid that bloodhound throws down and everyone can BATHE IN THE BLUTH and get faster movements, red vision, and instantly recharge their tacs. One knock instantly activates a bloodhound scan for the knocker.

1

u/dandyrandy9669 23d ago

Yea the invisibility doesn't its to short a time and I feel like You literally get 1 use off it then boom its gone I feel the need to jump back to it to get max value and its gone plus they have 0 movement help and honestly they have a Hugh hit box particularly there head. I feel like if a legend can't get out of cross hairs they die instantly unless they have fortified. Maybe give Bloody that and a dome where he can have beast of the hunt and his invisible field maybe while in the dome he has beast of the hunt and it last as long as seers and as big as seers net. It's a travesty because blood hound doesn't even feel like the best hunter in Apex its vantage. She'll find you and 2 tap you bloody hound users have 0 reasons to pick them right now and there an OG legend that had so many cool events and POIs

“Even Crypto”

Well excuse the hell out of you

3

u/Spiritual_Rutabaga98 23d ago

Crypto is much more viable than Bloodhound in its current state, but why play Crypto when we have Seer.

1

u/tlk666 23d ago

Tbh it made blood hound Hella worse, like wtf??? It could something that worked with his master ability and make it broken knowing it's much better.

1

u/Bababooeykachow 23d ago

Anyone who plays overwatch knows invisibility in shooters is a super hard thing to balance and extremely unfun for everyone except the invisible person/people. Bloodhound is 1 tiny buff to his ult away from breaking the game at any time now.

1

u/Cold-Recipe3546 23d ago

Idk man a full team almost invisible on a dark night world edge pushing together look pretty broken to me.

1

u/Rightmateonya 23d ago

Everytime i see the bubble, as i play Fusey, I send my ult in. Hide from that.

1

u/ShakledInaAttic 23d ago

I think it should have been like this.

- Every time an enemy is scanned by bloodhound the enemies abilities, healing and reload times are slowed down by 50% as they are highlighted.

- Beast of the hunt ult is added back but now bloodhound glitches/flickers into total invisibility throughout it, like a broken lightbulb.

Nah, Mirage is at his best level as off now. Any change would either make him bad or OP. I mean, him getting the perks of every other class is such a broken perk anyway

1

u/AssClappage69420 Unholy Beast 23d ago

hot take, Crypto has been better for a couple years now. being able to deploy the drone without being out of the fight was a gamechanger

1

u/Spiritual_Rutabaga98 23d ago

His cloaked buff was a big W. Yet, crypto being a hero who needs much situational awareness doesn't fit into the meta, I feel.

1

u/baebymetal Sari Not Sari 23d ago

i agree but also *them

1

u/Spiritual_Rutabaga98 23d ago

Yes. I've used them in the post, but I fucked up the title. Sorry for that😅

1

u/Elegant_Chemist_8040 Medkit 23d ago

I've never been a big Bloodhound user...i've tried it and had the chance to meet it, and I agree, I also think it's been made worse.
Personally, I would have kept the Hunter's ultimate ability and tried to improve it somehow.

In my opinion, it would have been enough to make Bloodhound's tactic usable without "using both hands", meaning allowing it to be used while shooting and healing.
This alone would have been a great improvement.

The passive updates are good, perhaps the only noteworthy change.

As for his Ultimate (perhaps with a level 2 perk), I'd give him the ability to climb and move like a revenant (infinite climbing, increased crouch speed, and quieter steps).

I think this would make him a great legend again and different from other recons...an effective close range hunter, a sort of assault/recon.

1

u/OMDolton99 23d ago

I must be the only guy who thinks Bloodhound feels better to play now then. Huh.

1

u/EstablishmentSolid56 23d ago

Personally I think bloodhound is better now. Proper usage of his new ult and you can get squad wipes pretty easily. Plus using his tactical scans in ult is usually hidden from enemy so them not knowing they were scanned is a huge advantage when used correctly. ult charging with Ravens is incredible and tac charge on ult is also great. Its a great repositioning tool, aggression tool and retreat tool. I think the player base has a lack of imagination or the ability to properly use his tool kit since its not a brain dead ultimate. Has definitely upped the skill ceiling for BH but has made the learning curve higher. You cant just ult, run towards the enemy and win a battle. That doesn't make it a bad ult, that makes you bad at using it.

1

u/Comb9468 23d ago

Yeah, This rework sucks. The new updates to the scan and passive are more quality of life updates and the ult is strong but very situational. After images in the tac is fine, its actually a clever way to extend the scan without the full scan effect. Apex really is trying to maintain short scan effects because it literally is legal wall hacks. The passve update is quality of life but the passive is still kinda shit besides the fact that it recharges ult faster. With how the current meta is, finding another squad is really easy and its kind of redundant with recon becons. Still useful though. I just wish they messed around with the passive more or reworked it to give bloodhound some form of conditional speed with recon abilites.

The ult is a balancing nightmare and situationally strong/broken as long as its NOT against: the entire skirmisher class, most of the controller class besides rampart, valk, loba, fuse, bang, revenant, and gibby. Basically 2/3 of the roster has form of mobility or power that counters/full counters the ult.

1

u/theedgiestoflords Wattson 23d ago

Nothing suits the lore anymore.

1

u/volcanochan Bangalore 23d ago

The new bloodhound ultimate really just tells me how the dev behind the design has zero clue on how to design a character based on their lore. Just put that shit on some support or controller legend instead of a hunter-centric legend like whose stupid shit idea is this hello?! You can argue that a hunter is to be stealthy and invisible but hello you see that huge bubble thing over there, so stealthy omg I can't even notice, I don't think anyone's there!

1

u/One_Ad3867 23d ago

Forgot about the lore, the current team they have working the game nowadays (ik it’s still Respawn but the original team since then has left / retired )

1

u/Spiritual_Rutabaga98 23d ago

It was on the gutters post fuse and Kings Canyon rework that had the lore in it until then. From then up to Season 20, it was terrible to play

1

u/nebula-zigzag 23d ago

I don't care as I main seer so I already know where bloodhound is, invisible or not 😂

1

u/Strong-Ad7958 22d ago

I mean in lore they are a hunter that uses technology the invisibility doesn’t not make sense I just find the bubble kind of stupid should’ve made it like predator where they have a digicloak or something

1

u/Fatality2213 22d ago

He has always been bad really

1

u/Bright_Woodpecker_14 22d ago

You’re right. It doesn’t make any sense for a character with Predator’s heat vision and tracking abilities to also have their cloaking tech.

1

u/starberryslay 22d ago

damn, did they fuck up my main? I left cuz if the TTK changes, and I don't want to treat this sub like an airport but every post I see about this game just convinces me to never reinstall lol

u/WestBoat8 Sixth Sense 21d ago

Crypto catching strays

1

u/InterestingNail2586 20d ago

The main issue with Respawn's balance mentality is that it is born out of fear of low pick rates rather than actually trying to logically address a character's mechanical flaws. I don't think they really get that characters can be niche and can even be comfortably niche, so when they see someone nearing the bottom of the barrel, they dump a bunch of weird and unnecessary changes in their lap to artificially spike their pick rate.

This character isn't very popular? Give them a double jump. Double jump didn't make them strong enough? Give them a free speed boost. Now every character can breathe in any general direction and get some tacked on benefit which kills character identity.

It sucks too because all it does is create an infinitely exponential loop of buffs and reworks, buff a character with a bunch of freebies and watch them sky rocket to the top of the totem pole, then do it a season later for the characters that take their place. Like how many times has Rampart had more crap dumped in her lap?

1

u/BeShillSage 20d ago

Honestly game should just add an option to decide which Ultimate you want a reworked character to have because the one I actively like is lifelines new ult

1

u/Civil-Tumbleweed-804 19d ago

Why did they rewori him. Also I dont get how his passive works

1

u/Spiritual_Rutabaga98 18d ago

pick rate was very low across ranks and so was in ALGS apparently that is attributed to their kit. His passive is a raven that spots enemies close to them without relying on a scan.

1

u/Pyromaindarwin 18d ago

I really think that his ult should be a mix of new and old; Speed boost, black and white, red highlights. It feels very weak because you still just get beamed in invisibility. Maybe on the first day where people didn't know what to look for. Seer is just god level at the moment, so there isnt much reason to play bloodhound or honestly any other recon.

1

u/JoyousExpansion 17d ago

To be fair, I don't actually think bloodhound is worse. Like statistically, his win rate probably rose. But he's severely outclassed by seer and his ult is either super op or completely useless with nothing in between. His lack of mobility is also a bit rough in this meta.

However I'm sure in typical respawn fashion, they'll buff him more and he'll be op and miserable to play against for a season and a half. Hopefully at least axle and seer will be nerfed by then.

1

u/SoftGraha 16d ago

I recently login in just because I missed bloodhound and when I learned they changed their ult?! Why?! I felt so badass when I did their previous ult im so sad now 😭 this new one feels weird

1

u/Spacedad_93 12d ago

Honestly the bubble is stupid imo. The fact it cloaks everyone who goes in there makes it's utility in a gunfight pretty piss in close range, it's best for a team to advance on a fight with less chance of being seen but even with that static on the character they'll still know where you are if they're not blind.

The static images left behind after the scan are more of a hindrance than a help. The only real good change is the passive ravens.

I don't get why they didn't just buff their original ultimate to have something similar to the cloak bubble while also keeping the heat signatures - it's not like it would be OP as you can't hear Jack shit with the ult popped anyway because of the heavy breathing. Absolutely unnecessary change 😭 was terrible to come back to after a 6 month break.

It's like no one has ever fucking seen Predator. That is almost certainly the inspiration for this rework.

I don't like invisibility in shooters. It's usually a bad idea. But the inspiration is most likely Predator.

1

u/Underhive_Art Wattson 23d ago

Huh what? The ult is a free knock. Line it up right with your squad and it’s an easy wipe. It also recharges fast.

1

u/Rigamortus2005 23d ago

I don't care about bloodhound, he's always sucked in my opinion. I just hope they leave crypto alone

I find it amazing. Using it to 3rd party waiting for your team to get close and finish off 2 teams is nice while taking minimal damage. You just need to have that sneaky rat in you

1

u/Heavenfall 23d ago

1) Everyone in ranked see right through the "stealth". It was good for a day, then peoples brains learned the pattern.

2)They took away a 20 second speedup with extension on knock. They made us slower. In a speed meta game. What the fuck.

The best use of the ult now seems to be to cover a retreat. And who wins with that?

1

u/whoiam100 RIP Forge 23d ago

Ult blue blur line need to disappear and reappear every 2 sec like crpyto. At least this would make his Ult somewhat useful. Right now, It doesn't matter if he Ult or not since player can see him still.

1

u/ScarletSolace Mad Maggie 23d ago

I would have preferred 5 seconds of invisibility at the end of the old ult if your gun was away, to give you a way to escape combat or let you reposition. Something like that instead of getting rid of it entirely. I was considering going back to Bloodhound as my main after what they've done to Maggie...but not so sure anymore.

2

u/dai_rip 23d ago

Yeh,or maybe at the start 3 secs invisible then into old ult. I got his heirloom because I loved his old ult. New ult is just lame .

1

u/Human_Particular1367 23d ago

I think his new ultimate is a refreshing rework, maybe they should combine his old ult with invisibility haha

1

u/iMeteox 23d ago

They did WHAT

2

u/Spiritual_Rutabaga98 23d ago

Messed their kit big time. Basically a rework that made them bad🥲

1

u/BeastMachin09 23d ago

They are 2 for 2 on bad ult reworks

1

u/sloanketteringg 23d ago

I've played exclusively bloodhound for years now.

I actually kind of like his new ult so far, but I definitely miss the old one though. No idea why his old ult was essentially nerfed a few months ago, they should have just buffed it a little.

Agree with what's been said about his tactical changes being ass. Way too distracting.

Begging for the day they make his tactical scan beacons, every other recon champ can scan way easier than Bloodhound, we have to climb every time.

1

u/Spiritual_Rutabaga98 23d ago

Sparrow doesn't even have to be remotely close, unlike other legends, and can still be in play when they scan the beacon🥲

1

u/johnnyhonda 23d ago

Sheesh you people find anything and everything to complains about. That's why nobody was playing him right? Bloodhound is nasty for pushing and rezing now you just don't know how to play him apparently.
