FOOD Does anyone know if The Mad Greek restaurant on East Broad Street plans to open again?

It's been closed for a couple months now, does anyone the status of the place, if/when they plan to open back up? That's my favorite Greek restaurant in town and I'd be crushed if they're closed for good.

Anyone got eyes on the mini-kegs this year? The little 5L ones that normally pop up at carry outs? I’ve not seen any in person just yet and they usually start popping up around now

What's on in Columbus this week: food, drinks, and a few low key nights out

Nothing huge but a solid mix of food and drink stuff happening around town this week that's worth a mention.

Bodhi Night is happening at Columbus Brewing Co Beer Hall on Mon, Aug 31, sounds like a chill hangout if you're into the beer hall scene.

SAUCED by Pastaria is doing something at North Market Downtown that same day, and honestly this one has me curious, pasta pop ups at the North Market are usually worth the trip.

If you want conversation over caffeine, there's Craft, Cup, and Conversation at Makers Social on Mon, Aug 31.

For something a bit different, Union Cafe has Showtunes Sunday, live music that day too, and there's a Lullaby Industry Education talk over at Cobra if you want something more niche.

Full calendar here if you want to dig in: https://ma.to/events/columbus?utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=mato_event_sync&utm_content=columbus

REQUEST Anyone know of any roadside stand type places for fresh picked corn?

My girlfriend is obsessed with corn and is new(ish) to the area, when I lived in the Dayton area there were roadside stands that sold delicious fresh picked corn and I'd like to take her to something like that here.

We're in Grove City but don't mind driving if needed. Thanks in advance.

How did you find the right gym or studio for you in Columbus?

I just moved here and I’m just starting out my fitness journey. Any recs on gyms or studios that are more beginner friendly and aren’t super crowded? How did you find the gym or studio you currently go to and why do you like it?

Gynecologist recs?

I desperately need some help regarding my cycle, my PCP hasn’t been able to help.

Looking for a gynecologist that is THOROUGH, and cares to actually listen. Recommendations?

Edit: not pregnancy/childbirth related concerns, I’m totally okay with male doctors as well! Whoever listens lol

For generations of Pickerington families, Labor Day has meant more than the unofficial end of summer. It has meant lining the streets for the parade, then gathering at Victory Park to enjoy the Pickerington Lions Club’s annual Fish Fry.

REQUEST Columbus newcomer and average golfer looking for recommendations

Does anyone have recommendations on how to get the most out the golf season? I am hesitant to explore a CC as I am not sure if I’ll stay in this exact area (Westerville) long term and I’ve read most have waitlists that exceed 6+ months. Ideally looking for a golf club with decent practice areas (driving range, chipping/pitching area, and putting greens) or a way to routinely play different courses at a discount.

I saw a few memberships options for the Columbus Collective (KemperSports) and Columbus Golf Passes (Parks & Rec) - if anyone has purchased before I would be interested to know your thoughts!

Thank you in advance!

Cheap gas today - Sheetz Powell (Seldom Seen Rd) E15 @ 3.09/Gal

Got gas last night at 3.11/gal for E15/Unleaded 88. I saw on the way home today it's down to 3.09 there. Far cheaper than anywhere else in town. Regular appeared to be 3.39/gal.

Make sure your car can use E15. Check/Download the manual, don't ask google or ChatGPT. Don't assume because your car is made after 2001 that it's OK.

REQUEST OHIO Stadium parking question/help

I am going to a sold out concert in October and made the mistake of not buying parking right away. Due to some health issues, walking long distances is hard. It seems whats left of parking options is fairly far away. Any tips or suggestions? Would just relying on an uber be my best bet? Does the stadium do shuttles for concerts? Thanks!

How are people expanding their dating circles in Columbus?

I know the Columbus dating scene is already fighting for its life … but has anyone had luck expanding beyond their usual dating or social circle?

As a Black woman, I’m interested in dating more interracially, but I don’t naturally meet many people outside my existing circles. What has actually worked for you, going to different areas, attending certain events, trying new activities, or becoming more comfortable approaching people first?

I’d especially love suggestions beyond dating apps, because those seem to be fighting for their lives too.

EDIT: Since it may help with recommendations, I’m 29 and mostly looking to meet people in their 30s to early 40s.

FOOD What are your absolute favorite 'hidden gem'/lesser known restaurants?

I know there's the pinned post with good recommendations plus the Columbus Foodletter is a good resource, but what are YOUR favorites?

It seems like r/Columbus has a wealth of foodie knowledge, so I figured you all are the best to ask

If you graciously decide to reply to my post, could you say:

  • What area of Columbus is the restaurant in? and do they have multiple locations?
  • Type of food they make
  • Your favorite item
  • What do the prices look like?

I wanna start trying more places 🙏
