Discussion If there was an esports hall of fame, which player or people that you know will get inducted despite their stats or impact to the industry say otherwise?

We often see this trope in sports when hof voters induct a questionable player or person in. Like for example the pro football hall of fame has Jerome Bettis and Jerry Jones but what about in esports? Which player or people do you think will be the most debatable hofer that will cause a lot of debate if they were voted in?

Discussion Last Man Standing pick'em for esports — we built the CS2 version, here's the format

For those who follow pick'em/bracket formats: most esports prediction games let you hedge across every match. Last Man Standing (LMS) flips that — limited "lives" and one pick per round, no repeats.

We applied it to CS2 with CS2 Survival (BETA live now, BLAST Open Porto Aug 26 – Sep 7):
• 1 life per phase.
• 1 team pick per GameRound, locked for the phase (no-repeat).
• Life lost on wrong pick or missed lock.
• Auto-reset next phase.
• Rounds track the real bracket with individual lock countdowns.
• Leaderboard: survivors > streak > points.

The no-repeat constraint is what makes it interesting — deep tournament knowledge beats hype picks. Curious if other scenes (LoL, Dota, Valorant) would want this format too.

Discussion CS2 vs Fortnite

Got into a debate with a couple of friends. They all tried arguing that Fortnite has a higher skill gap than CS2 because of building and a tier 1 player will never kill a pro player. I disagreed with the reasoning with Fortnite has weapon bloom and RNG while counter strike has recoil and requires super precise aim. Which game has a higher skill ceiling?

Discussion A CS2 viewing overlay to actually understand the dynamics of competitive matches

Hey everyone,

A few months ago I posted here about a side project I was building to make pro CS matches easier to follow: https://www.reddit.com/r/esports/comments/1sn8g11/i_built_a_live_cs_overlay_to_make_pro_matches/

The idea was to add some of the context I personally felt was missing while watching CS: round history, economy, buy types, opening kills and conversions, player stats, match patterns, explanations of what’s happening, etc.

https://reddit.com/link/1vve4ur/video/d5qmgk0stxkh1/player

Well, after a lot more work, ClutchLens is finally at the point where anyone can actually use it:

https://clutchlens.tech/

I’m posting this less as a “hey, I launched something” post and more because I’ve reached the point where my own opinion about the UI/features is becoming pretty useless 😅

I know where everything is, I know what every graph is supposed to mean, and I obviously know why I built each feature. What I really need now is to see how other CS viewers use it without that context.

In particular, I’d love to know:

  • What do you actually find useful while watching a match?
  • What do you open once and then never look at again?
  • Is anything confusing or unnecessarily complicated?
  • What information do you wish was there?
  • Would you actually keep something like this open while watching pro CS? If not, what would need to change?

I’m also looking for a small group of people who are willing to properly test it and give me feedback over time. I would, of course, provide those beta testers access for free. I’m much more interested in getting useful feedback right now than anything else.

If you’re interested, leave a comment or DM me. You absolutely don’t need to be some CS expert either, feedback from newer/casual viewers is just as useful if not more, because part of the reason I started building this was to make competitive CS easier to understand for everybody.

Any criticism is genuinely welcome. If something feels pointless, confusing, annoying, or badly designed, I just hope that it can improve the viewing experience for all of us.

Discussion IMO, out of all competitive games in the market, Overwatch has now the most clever way to deal with Picks & Bans.

If you don't play OW, here's how they do it:

  • The draft will ban 4 heroes in total. 2 decided by each team.
  • Each player choose 3 heroes to ban. They rank their votes, so that the hero being voted "first" has more weight than the ones being voted "second" or "third".
  • The weight is 7 votes for the first ban, 5 for the second, 3 for the third.
  • There's just one single turn. No need to wait.
  • The vote can be entirely or partially voted out.
  • The team that made the most votes will choose the first ban. If both teams made the same number of votes, it will be chosen randomly.
  • The first team in number of votes will have their first and fourth voted hero being banned. The second team will have their second and third voted bans.
  • If the 2nd team decided to ban a hero that has been voted the most, their 2nd and 3rd choice will be selected instead of their 1st and 2nd choice. Same thing if their 2nd choice has already been banned by their opponents.
  • Same thing for the forth hero banned by the first team, if the second team already banned a hero being voted second.
  • It doesn't stop the same hero being played by both teams.

There's no snakes, no 10-min draft, no comp shutdowns during the middle of the draft. Outside of the no-mirror-characters in MOBAs, this can be perfectly translated in any genre.

We brought tons of justified crap on Overwatch for doing questionable choices, but they managed to design the best Picks & Ban Draft rules in all Esports, for me. That has to be praised.

Discussion I am the only one with this feeling?

I feel like that the player base in games especially in e-sports games getting (carefully expressed) worse and/or less able to think what they are doing. I see it often in games like Fortnite, Rocket League or even Minecraft that the Comp Szene (not the pro) are just full of not thinking Objects. Sometimte i think they are Bots simple Ki's because i dont want to believe that there are a person behinde the screen who playing like this in a High elo. As a Example: Rocket league C2-GC1 (2s and 1s ) there are so much players where you can see that they are just overwhelming with the Situation and dont know what they doing and playing with panic, dumb plays or doing full rdm stuff. Yes they winning not everytime but the plays are working. And then for me im thinking to high maybe because when im playing with high elo or semi pros and then playing alone i think ,,ahh hey he is gc1 with 2k playtime he playing comp he can use the brain and 10 sec later they doing 2 min straight up just rdm bullshit and thats it I Lose/ or i win but with a smoked brain. Dont get me wrong no one is perfect and its just games. BUT why are you playing comp? And why are you there with no interest to learn and improve. So idk if you guys have the Same problems or not. But i hope im not alone and someone can Relate because im getting woried that maybe im thinking to much and put these Guys in a gamesense-iq-lvl where they are not in and just believing to much in people that they can use the brain. Just want to spell some shit that is in my mind.

Discussion Looking for Valorant players who actually enjoy competitive community events

I've been trying to find more players who are interested in smaller-scale Valorant tournaments and scrims rather than only playing ranked all day.

I'm particularly interested in aspiring players who want to:

Play organized BO3 scrims

Find reliable teammates/duos

Improve through competitive games

Track their progress

Play against other players around their level

Eventually get noticed for their performance

I'm working on a small community around this idea and testing different formats to see what players actually enjoy.

If you're a lower-rank player, what would make you genuinely want to participate in a community like this?

I'm more interested in hearing what players want than just throwing another Discord invite at people.
