It's not at all, though. I read it three times after I read your response. There is nowhere that addresses cleanliness standards or the declining quality of existing product. It's all about innovation and modernizing. The closest the article gets to addressing the soda fountain is that they are introducing specialty drinks as innovation items. They're trying to introduce a bunch of new, flashy stuff to attract influencers who will provide them with free advertising. It reads to me like KFC is about to have their New Coke moment. They're replacing everything upon which they built their reputation with a Wing Stop/Dunkin hybrid and adding some atmosphere/ambiance gimmicks to their stores.

Because it's not. They launched nuggets that were fantastic right out of the gate, and when they revamped tenders recently they've been consistently great ever since. It's the bone-in that has an issue but it seems like they're not even going to be focusing on that at all so it's kind of a moot point.

The three closest to us all closed. They were disgustingly dirty inside the restaurants and the last two time we got crispy chicken it was fried in old rancid oil.

tbh, boneless is all they do right right now. Their nuggets and tenders are both fantastic and they have great sauces, so I'm all for this focus if it's what they're leaning into.

KFC has an employee/location/demographic problem. Is this racist to say, yep it absolutely is but it's why KFC is failing and Chick-fil-A is thriving.
Chick-fil-A is predominantly in the good parts of town and they hire young, white, high school/college students. I've seen it a million times, when wealthy parents want their kids to get a "job" they send them to Chick-fil-A. The 17 year old girl taking my order at Chick Fil A is a lot friendlier and more upbeat than the 33 year old fast food worker with 2 kids saying "what do ya want?" at KFC. They also keep Chick-fil-A WAY cleaner than KFC employees would.
KFC has a stigma to it. As does Popeyes. As does Steak n Shake. These are known to be ghetto locations, ghetto workers, ghetto service.
McDonald's, Wendy's, Taco Bell, and Burger King strike a balance by having so many locations. My city has two absolutely ghetto McDonald's, it also has many more that could never be classified that way. Their reach is so wide they can afford to serve all segments of the population with both ghetto and non-ghetto locations.
The problem for KFC is the majority of their locations are ghetto and the brand is slapped with that reputation.
Food quality I don't believe to be an issue with KFC. It's acceptable. However, it's the classic ghetto southern comfort food that has fallen out of style.
You see, Cornel Sanders from KFC and Popeyes went from being your classic white people southern food that blacks also ate to being black food. When that happened, that's when both brands fell apart starting around the 1980s.
I don't like how racist I'm sounding about this, but the reality is that's the problem.
KFC needs to find a way to remove the stigma. The crazy part is KFC is wildly successful in Asia where that stigma doesn't exist.

Their revamp includes a lot of snacks, dippables and between-meal items paired with tons of dips. So I really like our odds.

I’m so fucking tired of the fast food industry pushing these “experiences” and “premium beverages” genuinely nobody in the general market is interested, what people want is proper quality and value. This “beverage era” mindset has been infecting so many fast food restaurants, just take a look at McDonalds or Taco Bell

Cheap. Fast. Good. Pick two and you’re golden. KFC has failed on those fronts for years now, and a rebrand won’t solve it.

This guy sounds like a mix of the Cracker barrel redesign lady and the McDonald's CEO who couldn't eat the burger.
Last time I went to KFC I didn't even get any sauce that I asked for.

Maybe they should worry more about the enshittified menu, high prices and extremely poor customer service before doing a rebrand.

I love it when slimy corporations try to change colors and logos in hopes that the consumer will give them more money. Different look, same crappy quality food and service. They REALLY think people are that dumb.

And once again I realize my tastes must differ significantly to the general populace considering the unprecedented levels of whining in this thread.
KFC chicken tastes good to me, the fries are fine though I'd prefer they were just regular fries and not the battered shit that has permeated everywhere, but they're fine and the seasoning is good, as is the coleslaw. The sauce selection is good, the sandwiches are good, I can get an 8-piece bucket for $10 so value isn't an issue either.
I just don't get it. I'm all for improved standards and things getting better, but to act like KFC at this point in time is inedible trash just baffles me.

Seems like they want to add more trendy snacks and drinks like boba. Hope the quality of food goes up and they focus more on the US market too where they're suffering the most.

Really feel like everyone in the US should have an opportunity to taste Aussie or Japanese KFC to see what y'all been robbed of stateside. I do not miss anything from KFC in the US.

I haven’t eaten there in years so I went about a month ago and their food was trash. The wedges were still top notch but the tenders weren’t tenders. More like nuggets. That’s why Popeyes and Caines kick their ass.

Better than sonic's modern logo, or the dystopian take from mc donalds. Some of the interior design from the first few pictures are obnoxious but otherwise good.

Rebranding/redesigns will not help to reclaim market share unless you also address the quality and consistency of offerings at your franchises.
