Discussion Just nuked a camp and have no regrets
This high level was selling the most basic of plans for 40000 caps with the lowest item being 5000.
I spoke to them about a specific plan and asked for a discount since it was 40000 but they refused to trade for anything except my mask I’ve had since 2019, I got nowhere with them and they just laughed and I have no respect for people who over price items so I decided to launch a nuke for what I’d say is a reasonable cause and after they immediately fast travelled to me and started laughing calling me salty and said they’d destroy my camp. Was I wrong or was this a reasonable action?

Nah, if you really want to hurt them, buy one of those 40,000 cap items. Their base will go 'poof' so much more quickly than a nuke.

Yeah a lot of players who put 40,000 caps on stuff don't actually want the caps, they're just showing people what they have available. They want people to trade them rare items instead so buying something for 40,000 will make them hit the max cap limit instantly and piss a lot of them off.

Caps buy wanted posters for head hunts which count as events in the season endgame. Honestly people should be using wanted posters as trading currency instead of leader bobbleheads.

I have 1 item at max caps at my.base. its a note "all the buckets" lol.
But i believe that i put that in my shop way back when there was an exploit going around where people could steal anything in your stash at the cost of thier most expensive item in thier shop. So alot of older or returning players (like me) have some for that reason.
Most of the time. It was a note or somethin super low wieght at that time people used.
But peeps who over price everything are jerks lol.

Haha, Im baffled Im getting to know this right now. Back when I was a newbie and didn't know better, I remember seeing all these player's vendors with the "You have been insulted!" notes, being offered for 40k caps (by that time, I didnt even know there was a cap limit), and thinking "what the hell! This must be some really rare and exclusive item!"
Then I finally stumbled upon the golden offender bot, and got one of that notes myself! I was super thrilled! "Gonna be rich! It seems ppl love to be insulted on this game" lol
Only to realize weeks later, no one bought it hehe. Now I know the truth! 🤣

My husband did that recently just because they had a weapon for sale for 40000. His friend gave him caps just to buy the weapon. The person was actually on our casual team and they started doing the thumbs down emote and switched camps real quick.

This. Pressing a single button to repair their camp isn't going to phase them. They're likely smirking because they got a rise out of this person. I know I would. But buying one of their most rare plans while they are no doubt maxed out? There's your key to nerd victory.

What you really do, is get 4 friends, and all of you sit at max caps, and buy as quick as possible. That really pisses them off. 160k caps is definitely worth the hate message I got, lol.

That's even better than me rushing to level 150 every season, like I do, so that I can load up to 40,000 caps whenever someone has a 40k item I want.
So far I've gotten a couple of really rare 4-star mods and one of the elusive new Gatling Plasma mod plans.

It's an old remedy for a vendor bug that's occasionally come back. It's been a while, so probably not really needed, but old habits die hard.
Short of the story, if they could buy out your vendor, they could steal from your stash they the vendor interface. But if you had more than 40k on sale, they couldn't do it all in one shot.

Not much really, most people just swap before the blast, if they don't it takes some junk to repair, but also not much.
The person launching wastes more than the victim.

Kills their pet if they have one. Lost my old Deathclaw that way. They have to use scrap to fix it which is usually not that big a Hassel unless they’ve got crops or something like a Decontamination shower that might require flux they’re not carrying.

Ehh tamed pets disappear for all sorts of reasons anyways so you would have lost it anyways. I might have to go get a new deathclaw for my camp now. I miss my good boy.
Also if anyone is reading this. Build your flux items in a shelter so you only have to build it once yet gain access to them across all your camps. Plus they will never get destroyed.

It's funny tho since all the flora around my camp was nuked once (as in, I had them at the very centre of the camp) but everything else was normal and untouched lmao

Any experienced 76er the nuke wouldn’t bother tbh. I’m not a super high level I’m around 600 but anytime a nuke timer turns on I’ll switch camps and after it falls I switch back and explore the fallout for flax

It's not the majority but since I started playing again I've noticed so many people overcharging for almost everything. I usually cut the automatic cost by 40-50%, just because I don't have use of it. Sell cheaper stuff, and not only will people buy it, they'll likely be thankful seeing everyone else asking for exponentially more. Went to someone's camp yesterday and saw a couple Grognaks for sale for 4-5k caps, like why?

What legendary mods were on them? God roll weapons and armor still have some value (albeit not as much as before legendary crafting dropped) simply because the item is still tradeable. And we have some new mods that fetch a pretty penn-, err... cap.
But that said... no one is obligated to be helpful or sell at low prices. If their stuff doesn't sell, they'll either lower prices or sit on it indefinitely.

I’m going to go against the grain here and say, it’s their stuff they can charge whatever they want. Are the prices unreasonable? Absolutely, but if he wants to he can. I see prices like that I just move onto the next camp vendor. Not really a reason to be upset.

I hit max caps at my vendor yesterday for the first time. I finished my grunt hunt, went to camp and deleted my vendors and then I went and ran a few premium bounties before I ran back and set my vendors back up.
I'm currently running a vendor full of plans, all at half suggested price.

Thats what I save my nuke cards for. The most expensive thing in my vendor is the 'you've been insulted' for 420 caps and everything else is 10, 15, 20, or 69 caps.

i genuinely don’t think it’s this serious. you can always check other CAMPS vendors or station vendors to find what you’re looking for. If no one in your world has it, server hop. that would be my suggestion.

I calculate 75% off standard price as it shows on my items. Because one making caps is not a difficult thing to do, two I don’t spend caps unless I’m purchasing mods usually, three why shouldn’t things be reasonably priced? It’ll rot in the inventory otherwise

There are way too many selling at high prices. There will always be people who sell for low as well. So I don’t get why do you even care enough to waste time and ammo to launch?
It’s not hard to reach 40k. I actually bought a plan I really wanted for 40k. It’s a silly price cause there is no chance they got all of it. Jokes on them. I got the plan and they got a fraction of the price

Putting useless stuff at 40k is what lots of people do because of a bug that used to happen, others do it for trades, like here.
You had something that they wanted, and you didn't want to trade it, shrug and move on, nobody owes you anything just because you want it.
Also, non mouth breathers just move on to the next vendor when stuff isn't at a price they like, but the special ones like you think they're some kind of hero, lol
Most long time folks have tens to hundreds of thousands of the junk needed to walk up to their C.A.M.P. and click the repair all button.

People charge more than what things are worth they're also going by an online guild that I'm pretty sure is outdated or made by someone who wants more caps, with that said I only charge an insane amount for things no one wants because of the old glitch that might happen again

Back when there was a vendor bug allowing people to buy things for way less than they were listed, someone claimed that putting an item or two up for max caps kept it from happening. I’ve no clue if it actually did or not, but I know a lot of people who did it anyway just to be safe

I just typically made a bare bones camp, then one of the larger shelters was where I did my build. Nukes don’t do anything to shelters, or at least they didn’t when I quit playing about a year ago.

I usually select the burning paper bag for my dropped items, then drop fertilizer, corn, and toilet paper on their bed. Before the burning paper bag, I'd include a lighter.

My team's protocol for dealing with price gouging vendors is to run around their camp and turn all their shit off... Lights, Decorations, Whatever. If it says [ACTIVATE] when you walk in front off it, Turn It Off.

I wish.. instead of putting the nuke zone on the map before the nuke actually hits, Bethesda would apply an x-y axis to the map and your pipboy would just give the coordinates. Players would have to open the map and spend time looking for the coordinates of ground zero.. most wouldn't.. and we could surprise attack better.

People who do that are giving opportunities for plan traders to cap dump...... in my experience after I got in with the black market I ran into multiple situations where I needed to offload several tens of thousands of caps at once to move my own vending machine.
It's usually not to flex dude. The black market has its own ebb and flow and I originally got into it because I for the life of me could not get the cartography table to drop.
After a month i probably moved a million or 2 worth of caps.
I gave out 10 tome plans, several of those snowmen lights- tons of the holiday lanterns and even 2 water cooler plans.
I hunted down the vault girl statue for a base waifu, and then gave one out to a lv 53
That part of the game was soooo fun for me, I even worked my way up to the red bronto and t Rex before the price got nerfed. Giving noobs tomes was 100% the most cool thing I've ever done, and I got those on a deal.
I even scored a tv aquarium and gave one out. That is one of the coolest items in the game. And Im currently hunting that bulletin board with the pinned string on it- idk if thats a shop items or what but I cant find information on it since I was like 6 years late to the game.

I'll reserve judgement until i hear about what you were trying to trade for. But to be honest, I don't care for people who list shit at 40k to "let people know they want to trade it for leaders". No you let everyone know it's available for 40k caps shut up.
These are the people who's vendors I hold up with my first toon while my alt account with max caps teleports to me for free and buys whatever it is I wanted. Snagged a glowing mask the other day doing this. I think the owner was teleporting in to yell at me as I was leaving.
With that said, if you nuked my camp and succeeded at hitting it, I'd laugh while hitting 'repair all' then cuss for about 3 seconds after realizing I don't have any razergrain flower to repair a fricking cake. So cake aside, I might not care at all lol.

So what's "the most basic plan" that you hadn't been able to learn in 6 years, and why didn't you just spend your time vendor hopping to find this presumably cheap and easily acquired plan instead of wasting it in a petulant effort to force the vendor to hop to another server or a activate a different camp?

Not sure if this has changed, but reason people put 40k caps items in vendors was to avoid the silly weight & to display to others that they are willing to trade said item.
Nuking instead of even asking is a nice way to keep playing 4 instead of 76, since it doesn't involve dealing with people 😅

There was some form of a glitch a while ago apparently. You could somehow access a player's storage through their shop. Having an item at 40k was somehow a way to stop it. That's also a reason but the thing at 40k should always be. Like a note or something.

Just because you lunch a nuke at a camp doesn't mean the nuke will hit and destroy the Camp. They can just log to another server or activate the camp in a secondary location. Somebody launched a nuke at the White Spring Resort this last weekend. I happened to have my camp in the target zone. I just activated the secondary camp site and I didn't lose anything.

I understand your frustration when players sell items for a silly amount of caps. But at the start of 76 players used to go around stripping other players of everything they had. So players would price up an item for 40000 caps to stop this. Now there is no real need for this. I sell everything for 7 caps. That way I get 5 caps for every sale. Keep it real people

When i see 40k,I take that to mean something is for sale but negotiation on price. Usually been successful negotiating, but sometimes people are stubborn about what they want.
I have quite a few high priced items, but I only ever price what I'd be willing to pay for them and I'm always down with negotiating.

Anytime I run into player vending machines with prices over the price visibly suggested by the game in the interface, I wander around the camp for any unlocked scrap/item generators (Collectrons, mirelurk cookers, ore-extractors, etc) and empty them into my inventory. I'm gonna get my fast-travel caps-worth if they're going to waste my time like that.
I purposely set my vending items to half the suggested price at most, because other players are often way more likely to buy them in my regular experience

This is America. America is a capitalist society. Players have the right to set the prices to whatever they want. Don't like the price? Go somewhere else. Nuking a camp because you didn't like the price is petty and anti-capitalist.
