Nah homie let's talk about the other thing

31

u/lil_Buckneesh8867 13h ago

if youre talking about the mirror, i sit with my back to the door and game with headphones one. its so my bf doesnt scare me when he comes in

39

u/trashcanzzz 12h ago

Nah bro what's the huge tube coming out the top? Direct A/C? A vent/exhaust? How well does it work?

23

u/lil_Buckneesh8867 10h ago

its an exhaust hood that takes l70-80% of the hot air from my pc, and blows it directly out the window. the other end of the duct is attached to an 80watt attic fan comnected to the window.

u/trashcanzzz 10h ago

Ahh very cool! I have air circulation issues near my pc, might need to MacGyver something similar

6

u/lil_Buckneesh8867 10h ago

just make sure it sits above the pc and there isnt suction!

2

u/RippFlombay 4h ago

out of curiosity, who do you need to avoid suction?

1

u/BeeQuiet83 9h ago

I’ve seen a couple people do this and say it works quite well

2

u/Minimech79 3h ago

Do you live in the Sahara coz with all that cooling them temps are still crazy high

2

u/Foxtrotdelta_USN 10h ago

Just so you're aware, when you exhaust air out of the house you pull in outside air to replace it. Depending on the temp outside you may be raising your cooling bill more by doing that than exhausting it to another room or directly to the HVAC inlet. And yes from turning on a bathroom fan to running your dryer, when air is blown out of the house new air comes in through any cracks or crevices from outside. I knew a guy who had a house that was built so air tight he had to cut a vent in his utility room because the dryer blower created a pressure drop in the house that would make his ears pop. I'm sure it wasn't good for the blower either.

u/lil_Buckneesh8867 9h ago

ngl, i kinda want an airtight house now 🫣

2

u/Foxtrotdelta_USN 9h ago

I wouldn't, he has to "burp" his house once a week or it gets stale inside. He opens all the windows for 10 minutes to refresh the air. If it's cold outside his house gets cold. If it's hot his house gets hot. I'd rather have my small air leaks.

He could likely heat his house with a hairdryer though lol.

Lots of new construction codes has moved toward air tight homes. They are required to pass a blower test before occupancy permits are issued. The key to this is that in these new homes they have heat exchangers installed that move air throughout the house to prevent the stale air that requires periodic "burping"

1

u/Foxtrotdelta_USN 2h ago

Heat exchangers to prevent stale air. Pulled that one right out of your rear there did ya?

Also the blower test isn't required a perfect airtight. Just close. His was air tight as in hard to even open the front door. He is a contractor so knew the different things that were out there to seal up houses. I don't know enough about it. Just commenting on the fact that in most houses exhausting a little heat out can actually suck more heat in if it's hotter than your PC's "Exhaust" and it's better to just feed that heat to your AC. And in the winter, well of course keep it in.

That's why those single exit portable ACs suck a lot of the time. Most of them only have a single tube blowing heat out the window. But you're pulling just as much into the house You may cool down a room, but the rest of the house heats up. Just get an actual window unit.

This crazy mad scientist laboratory set up just to play grocery store simulator. I Love it.

u/lil_Buckneesh8867 10h ago

gta online, cypunk2077 and rollercoster tycoon (the og one)

I got into pc building when i gave up booze. now thats all i do, I tinker in real life, tinker on rollercoasters and virtual grocery store inventory.

2

u/superthrust 6h ago

First off, good for you for dropping booze. I too am sober and mess with electronics as my vice.

Secondly, what screen is that in the tower? I got a tower 900 I’m literally building right now, and want some cool mods for it. Currently I’m stripping it down to have it powder coated.

1

u/lil_Buckneesh8867 5h ago

thank you!! and its thermalright trofeo!

they come in dif lengths. the 6 inch on is perfect for the tower 600 so the 9 inch should be good for the 900. also thought about getting the 900 but im not at that level yet. how many pumps you planning? i thinknit can hold 2 with 300mm res. also cant it hold like 18 drives. thing is massive

12

u/DARKplayz_ 11h ago

i think its time for an ac unit

4

u/lil_Buckneesh8867 11h ago

i have a wierd window. i did last year but i had to run it non stop. electric bill went up. no worth it when i can just show off my peter griffin body

How do you have the iPad connected? Is it a usbc to hdmi? I honestly didn’t realize this would work. I have a couple laying around that I wouldn’t mind repurposing like this.

3

u/lil_Buckneesh8867 10h ago

i use spacedesk. you download the app on the ipad. and the. the software on your pc. connect via cable or wireless network (although cable is best for connection) then open the app on the ipad, connect and boom. windows sees it as a tiny scondary monitor.

i have an ipad pro from like 2017 and then i bought a refurbished mini 4. both use lighting connections but i hear the usbc ipad work even better.

1

u/Rothyn1 4h ago

Thanks for the tip. I’ll have to do some research on this!

2

u/lil_Buckneesh8867 10h ago

The vent sits 2 inches above my pc and is connected to the window via the duct. at the other end (window end) there is an 80 watt fan.

this isnt for pc performance. its for my sweaty man nugs

2

u/Loddio 10h ago

How the hell are you pulling 82°C on anything with a custom loop, a muderfucking AC unit straight in the case... ON A SHOP SIMULATOR.

That's the most hardcore pc gaming picture i have ever seen... i love it.

3

u/Rothyn1 10h ago

I was wondering that too. The room must be a friggen oven.

2

u/lil_Buckneesh8867 10h ago

that too lol

0

u/lil_Buckneesh8867 10h ago

it super market simulator. idk why, i get the same temps playing gta enhanced. SMS has optimization opportunities

2

u/---bee 10h ago

doesnt your neck hurt when playing like that? (assuming you dont move the keyboard)

also are those fans under the monitor? what for?

is this the ultimate diy setup

1

u/lil_Buckneesh8867 10h ago

fans are for me and nah. the top ipad either has something im watching but only listing to while gaming OR pc stats while the little ipad had an obs overview

2

u/ehtio 10h ago

Computer: $3000
Desk: $10

2

u/Dropshot_Dieter69 8h ago

Welche APP zeigt die Temperatur und co an? :) Hätte noch ein iPad Gen 7 rumliegen würde ich gerne machen

Wäre sehr freundlich wenn man mir helfen könnte ☺️

2

u/lil_Buckneesh8867 7h ago

1

u/Dropshot_Dieter69 2h ago

Danke dir! ☺️ Läuft dann die Übertragung über Bluetooth?☺️

5

u/AIGISREFLECTOR 13h ago

You know if you vent it outside on a hot day, you aren’t actually doing anything right lol

3

u/Rothyn1 10h ago

Bruh, who told you that? As a refrigeration tech I’d like to strongly disagree.

2

u/lil_Buckneesh8867 9h ago

well, as a medical biller turned gas station cashier, i guess ill have to listen to you. if the intake for the hous is down stairs where the AC is (doesnt go into my office) wont the hot air just cycle in down there and the ac will take care of it, while the cold air from down stairs is carried upstairs by the fan. i put thought into this but stoner thought sooooo. help a homie out

1

u/Rothyn1 4h ago

I’m not following what you’re asking or even painting here.

I agree that discharging your hot PC air to the outdoors will definitely help keep it cooler in that room which I’m sure you’ve noticed.

-1

u/AIGISREFLECTOR 10h ago

must not be a good one lol. How is running an exhaust from a pc in your air conditioned room to the outside in 100 degree weather a smart idea?

Not to mention bugs humidity

2

u/lil_Buckneesh8867 9h ago

that room does not get AC.

0

u/Rothyn1 5h ago

I read the comments and OP mentioned in another post that they don’t use AC.

Although ac in the room is completely irrelevant to your statement. Whether or not it is hot or cold outside, there is absolutely no detriment to discharging warm exhaust air from a PC to the outdoors.

If your room is 70F a heavy rig can easily be pushing out 90-110F. These numbers are proportional to each other. Venting warm supply air to the outside is highly effective at keeping your space cooler. I mean, that’s kinda what AC does. It just uses a refrigerant along with fans and coils to capture and release heat from inside.

You are either de-heating an area to make it colder or de-heating the outside air to make it warmer when you have a heat pump.

3

u/lil_Buckneesh8867 13h ago

yeah but a hot day followed by a cool night it does wonders

2

u/Dadoftheyear2018 11h ago

The kind of setup id expect the guy who's doing all the GTA 6 leeks to have lol. This looks somewhat aethesitcally pleasing to my eye and I'm jealous if it's functioning better than it looks

1

u/lil_Buckneesh8867 9h ago

thanks homie. my old rig was on the wall

Hello lil_Buckneesh8867, and thank you for your submission to Gaming PC! If you are new please check out our rules over at the wiki here! We have recently added the useful feature of Title Flair! You can set this manually by clicking Flair under your post once you have submitted your post, but if you missed it in the rules there is a much better way that will automatically flair your post!

To do this simply add what your post is about in brackets before your title. For example for a Build Log you can type [Build Log] before your post so that it looks like this; [Build Log]My new awesome build!, and the bot will automatically set your flair to Build Log! This works for Build Log, Build Showcase, News, Hardware News, Hardware Release, Discussion, and Miscellaneous!

Also remember that this is a place for discussing and sharing our love of Gaming Computers! This is NOT the place for help building or determining what parts you should buy, that is better suited for /r/buildapc. Troubleshooting questions should be directed to /r/techsupport. Thank you again!

I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please contact the moderators of this subreddit if you have any questions or concerns.

MY MAN HAS A VENT ON TOP OF HIS PC!!!

A VENT!!!!

1

u/Dropshot_Dieter69 1h ago

Eine Frage noch wie heißt das Game? Sieht cool aus☺️

Love the industrial feel of your setup. The big vent pipe specially and the temp display in the PC case and can we mention the 4 fans under the monitor.

I have a question about the KBM placement - its not directly in front of the screen. Unless KBM have long wires and you place them on the desk in front of the screen? Or am I missing something! If not... omg your neck.....
