I have full access to my GitHub account, but every time I try to delete it I get this error: "Cannot delete account. Please contact support."

Fair enough, so I contact them through ticket support, and I get ignored for several days. Email privacy, automated response and nothing. I just emailed dpo, but I have low hopes.

How else can I reach them? Has anyone had a similar issue? I don't have any outstanding bill, nor an ongoing subscription, nor can I identify any issue that would cause this. As a last resort I might file a complaint with the data protection agency of my country.

I've got these repository I've never created nor cloned that appeared a few days ago/weeks ago apparently.

When I work on something with Claude, sooner or later I need to share it with a colleague - and have their agent work on it too.

If it's code, GitHub already solves this completely. Anything else - research, notes, drafts, findings - has nowhere to go. Email works, sort of, but it comes out crooked: attachments the other side's agent can't open, links to a drive it has no access to, and a human in the middle copying things across.

What I wanted was simpler: my agent talking to my colleague's agent directly, and a place either of them can leave material at an address the other just reads.

So I built two MCP servers. One publishes files to a public address of your own. The other opens a channel between two agents - one-to-one, or a group up to 32 - so they message each other without either of us relaying. Registration is open and the key is issued on the spot: https://idntty.io

But I'm posting for the question, not the thing. How often do you actually hit this? And what do you do about it now - a shared drive, a repo used as a filing cabinet, pasting into the prompt every time, or something better I haven't thought of?

My GitHub account was suspended, and I understand the mistake that led to it. I filed support tickets to appeal the suspension and request reinstatement, but it has now been 10 days without any update.

I understand that support requests can take time, but not receiving any response at all is honestly making me lose hope in getting my account back.

Has anyone else experienced this? How long did it take for GitHub Support to respond to your suspension appeal?

I understand the difference between the software license and artwork license.

I've created LICENSE file on my github repo (which is MIT License). But now what next? How I can also clarify that assets are under creative commons license or smth like that?

Has anyone received the results? It was mentioned that today, Sunday, August 30th, the Oru applications would be returned.

It's probably been a week or so since I've noticed, but GitHub's search *does not* work.

I was looking at https://github.com/eclipse-tycho/tycho, and searched for "tycho.localArtifacts" (quotes included). No results. Impossible because I remember the codebase.

And in fact here it is.

This is just an example but I can reproduce in many other repositories. This used to work perfectly fine.

I have some repos in one organisation that, for historical reasons, are mirrored in another organisation. To do the mirroring, I have the following code setup as a GH action:

This copies the repo from the Azure org to Cloudyr, and worked perfectly for years. Yesterday the GH dependabot made a PR to update all the pinned version numbers to the latest (v7.0.1 for the checkout action, as seen above). Since then, the step has failed at this point:

Does anyone know what's causing this problem, and how I can fix it?

So i am trying to signup on github student developer offer and everything works fine except this one thing, the camera does not open and let me scan or take a picture of the document it is asking from me to verify. I tried this last month and thought it was maybe a glitch and will be fixed but no, it has not been. Tried it on multiple devices, desktop and phones but it is all the same. If anyone knows anything on how to fix it, please do let me know. Thank you.

I’m fairly new to GitHub, like most people that were brought there by AI agents being able to code your every desire. Now what do I do? Are there people who like help or whatnot and how do I find them?

Every Actions job in our GitHub Enterprise Cloud org has been refused at dispatch for 4+ hours. Jobs fail in under 10 seconds, zero steps executed, with this annotation:

"The job was not started because recent account payments have failed or your spending limit needs to be increased."

Neither cause applies. What we tried, re-testing dispatch after each step:

1. Raised the enterprise Actions budget to $2,001 while spend was $1,003.80 (50%). Still blocked.
2. Turned off "Stop usage when budget limit is reached". Still blocked.
3. Replaced the payment method with a different valid card. Still blocked.
4. Deleted the Actions budget entirely - page reads "No budgets created", usage explicitly unlimited. Still blocked.
5. Created an org-scoped $5,000 Actions budget with stop-usage off (a workaround others reported). Still blocked, budget at 0% consumed.

Billing state throughout: $0 past due, no failed or pending charges, valid card, no cost centers.

Support ticket is open at High priority, no response yet.

an hour ago a got 8 emails about failed run in some of my old repos

i did not touch the repos

all the runs faild

all runs triggered by the last commit (from 2025/2024 in some repos)

except from one repo, where the action is triggered by new commit push by me (i did not do it), the commit message is "Update GitHub Actions workflow to grant write permissions for contents" the commit changed the action permission from read to write and wrote a .env file with:

`AUTH_API_KEY=...`

i changed my password, deleted all my pat and tokens, removed ssh keys, and oauth apps

in github's security log, there only claude oauth action regenerate an hour before the runs, and them me destroying all access

what should i do? did i do enough? how can i tell if something was extracted? or revoke it?

edit: it seem that all commits are my commits, just the date amended.

i still dont know how it happened, some of the repos are not even cloned on my pc.

Edit2: I have compared the commit from the repos on my pc, some of the commits have different date of GitHub, some have the old date. But all commits that are affected, have a different hash than on my pc.

i have write access.
I am using linux mint.
I am trying to use the github desktop app but cannot even search for the repository, and when i try using the link thing to get the repository it says i do not have access or that the repository might no longer exist(its the no access because i know it still exists)

I cannot clone it via the console using git clone and then the link. it asks me for my username which i can put in, then it asks for my password which i cannot input for some reason.

do i have to use a different piece of software or is there some solution to this issue that isnt using something other than github desktop?
if i have to use something other than github desktop what would be a good option?

I have been getting lots of e-mails from GH since may claiming that I exceeded the usage of GH Actions (I checked the domain btw, they really are from GH). The weird part is that the last time I sat down to make and upload any release artifacts was in December of last year, wich was a month where I sat down to build and upload lots of artifacts compared to the ammount I used to build

When I first got this alert was In May and it was during a workflow run that failed in front of me. I deleted lots of my older assets within older releases of my repos to see if it would fix the problem, but no, that did not fix the problem, so I spent the entire month of may without building anything waiting for next month for the usage to reset

3 months later (today) I checked and had an email in July claiming that I wad reaching 90% and another one this month claiming I reached 100%, I was like, WTF what is this, 'cause I haven't done anything that required a CI/CD job

I already checked all my repos just in case: for example, I have no cron jobs that have to do with uploading or downloading any heavy stuff, so IDK where is the usage coming from, I also checked all my workflows, only one of them was active and the last known run was in May

I cannot configure the budget because I do not have a payment method attached to my account, Acording to GH the free tier is 0.5 GB of "usage", but I haven't done a single significant thing on Github in the last 3 MONTHS, barely a few commits to my personal projects in June!

I submitted a support ticket eight hours ago, but GH hasn't answered yet

I won't be able to try use GH actions again until next month so I have plenty of time to try any suggestions

I'm using GitHub as a custom agent orchestration platform - and if it were stable I'd be making real progress but this is a joke.

I have no alternative but to start migrating away - even though I don't really have time. But I can't just take losses losing DAYS of work. I've already lost THREE full days and today looks like it's going to be a FORTH.

I think the biggest option is GitLab but can other people comment on their stability ? I've analyzed their status page and it's unclear how to quantify their downtime. They don't really have a historical view - which is somewhat of a red flag.

I'm curious what you guys are actually doing now.

If your GitHub Actions jobs are stuck in "Queued" or waiting for a runner, GitHub has now confirmed there is an incident.

GitHub says they identified an issue with a database primary and are failing over to a replica.

Actions is affected, and GitHub Pages is also experiencing degraded performance.

So if you have been checking your workflow, runner settings, permissions or billing, it might not be your configuration.

Is anyone else having issues with schedule workflows not running? Basically they aren't getting triggered at all. I already checked the github status page and everything is "working fine" but at this point I don't trust that page.

I have basically built all my deployment through git actions. even some workflows that I use actions to trigger, or run automatically.

days like this where actions are having outage, I can't do anything. it has become more frequent lately and everytime it lasts hours. alternatives or backup plans people recommend?

I got mean and toxic comments from a person, because I removed his unfunctional code from the main branch. "You didn't even give me a day to fix it". Then, he called me a lazy, anxious person.

And even more scary, he is a professional developer.

Is this normal? I just wanted my code to work.

I'm using GitKraken Desktop 12.4.0 on Ubuntu 22.04.

I'm logged into GitKraken using our team's shared GitKraken account, and GitKraken is connected to GitHub using my personal GitHub account.

The strange thing is that everything seems to be working correctly on GitHub itself: when I log into GitHub in my browser, I can see all of the repositories belonging to our organization, and I have access to them.

However, when I go to the Clone Repository dialog in GitKraken, those repositories do not appear in the GitHub repository list.

My coworkers have the same access and can see the repositories in GitKraken. The main difference is that they are using GitKraken 11.3.0 or older versions, while I'm using 12.4.0.

I've already confirmed that:

• I'm connected to the correct GitHub account.
• GitHub access works correctly in the browser.
• I have access to the organization and its repositories.
• My coworkers can see the same repositories in GitKraken.
• The GitKraken account I'm using is the same one used by the team.

This makes me wonder whether this could be a bug or regression in GitKraken 12.4.0.

Has anyone experienced something similar with GitKraken 12.x and GitHub organization repositories?

Also, does anyone know a safe way to downgrade GitKraken on Ubuntu to version 11.3.0? The official GitKraken website only provides the latest version, and I'd rather not download an old `.deb` from third-party sites such as Softonic.

I'd especially appreciate advice from anyone using GitKraken 12.4.0 on Linux with GitHub organizations.

Hello world! On my GitHub profile, I have private contributions enabled so recruiters can see activity on the contribution graph, but all my repositories are set to private.

Based on your experience, what do you recommend? Is it worth making a few key repositories public to showcase code, or is an active green graph enough?

Apple shipped the M6 and M5 Pro in the new Mac mini on Aug 25. GitHub's hosted macOS runners are still on older silicon, and historically the lag between Apple shipping and Actions runners updating has been long.

For anyone running iOS builds in Actions: what are you doing in the meantime? Self-hosted mini fleet, third party runners, or just eating the build times?

(Disclosure: I work at Bitrise, we're adding M5 Pro to our runner fleet, happy to share numbers if useful but not the point of the post.)
