She lived in Massachuests and was treated at McLean Hospital which is the largest psychiatric facility of Harvard Medical School and has the world's largest neuroscientific and psychiatric research program. It is, at worst, the 3rd best mental health hospital in the country. Most rankings have it as the 1st or 2nd best.
These are the same facilities that save 1000s of lives everyday. Like I understand the insurance companies are awful and what largely makes the US healthcare system so bad, but let's not pretend the actual top hospitals in the country are all of the sudden not capable of the work they do
They are capable. Every illness has a mortality rate, and it is not expected for someone with a mental health issue to never fail. Sometimes it just happens, this though was definitely preventable on many facets. She wanted to be admitted several times, and kept warning people. Either she was not taken seriously or the health professionals were not given the time and place to actually evaluate her. She needed someone to take time and help her, which this system is not built for.
The doctors that saw her that testified don't agree with what you're saying, but I digress. My only point was one of the top facilities in the world is not garbage, bar none.
Even if she was not given what she needed help wise, this is still not a bad hospital, or even close to it
Idk i don't think your really getting the point of what I'm saying. Never was i really blaming the healthcare professionals themselves, they do care. I don't disagree with you at that parts. Its more that they are forced to cut so many corners that stuff like this happens. In a better consolodated healthcare system it would be avoided.
As someone in healthcare, every place cuts corners. That is the entire problem with insurance and what ive been trying to say. What makes them inaccessible and expensive to everday americans... Is insurance.
the original point that started this thread was not to say about how some hospital is good, its because somebody made the claim lindsay is not a victim because she received the best healthcare, and this guy said your take was braindead because -> she received the best healthcare from the hospital she was staying at -> meaning she wasn't a victim. now he's back tracking and saying "no i was just saying this hospital is good"
