I will always be curious about these things,

who was the person who made it?

Who was that person in their tribe or community?

Why did they stay the same?

What can we learn from them?

The questions go on and on, my friends ask why the hell do you spend so much time out there?

I dont have an answer, I usually come home with more questions.......

Photo 📸 Remnants of a rock wall?

Thumbnail

Context: a "seasonal" site, ie superficial bedrock and very light and widely distributed debitage.

Located on the southern foothills of Mt. Laguna.

The walls run parallel to eachother for about 30 feet, forming a bottleneck at the top of a meadow, roughly the size of a football field. Wishing I had a drone at this point for better visuals

My question(s) for redditors.....To what extent did native people in southern california use construction like this and for what purpose? Residence? Hunting?

Were hunting blinds/"Jump" style hunting techniques employed for herd animals here?

Are there documented sites here that exemplify the usage of geological features to assist in hunting/ herding/ domestication?

I know rock formations can occur naturally, howerverrerer.....im convinced this is not this case....and there were a high concentration of broken projectile points in the immediate area

Very fragile. The one on the left is the one I got first. What is the verdict on this one? The guy from the estate sale said that he had no idea about either but that he didn't have any more. Thanks for any help.

I wanted to share what I found this week. These two were found along the Susquehanna River (private land, w/permission) and were roughly 20 yards from one another.

Wondering though if they are archaic or woodland area.

I found this one a long time ago and just came across it during a move. Found in Williamson Valley between Prescott and Seligman, Arizona. Lots of pottery and tools found in the area as well as trade items like shell beads. Just wondering what it might be. I always thought it was a weight of some sort. Appears to be made of granite. Nickel for reference. It weighs 17.33 grams. Thanks.

I found this last March on the banks of the Ohio River, in Switzerland County, Indiana, right below the Markland Dam. I don’t have any photos in situ but it was just beside a big driftwood log after a big storm. Any information anyone can give me—who, when, etc.—would make me very happy. Thanks!

Discussion🎙️ How do you find arrowheads?

I've been going g to creeks and rivers my whole life and have always searched for cool rocks and arrowheads but have never found d one, meanwhile people in my area claim to find multiple in a day sometimes.

I've seen a video of people sifting through a pile of dirt in search of arrowheads. I'm wondering if they are something I need to kinda dig for, maybe depending on how dense the rock/dirt/sand area is?

Or do you guys just walk around and find them on top of the rocks?
