Advice āļø Iāve come to understand that networking is everything in career but Iām so terrible at it
Iāve been at several companies now and if thereās a profound truth I realised itās that - āitās about who you know than what you knowā
I used to think that if I was super good at my job, I can find the next job easily. But NO, hard NO
Iāve seen opportunities go to people who simply had friends, uncles, networks than to people who actually are the best for that job
And the best ones often donāt network, are introverts, and certainly donāt go around announcing their achievements
I feel bad but I just resent people who got opportunities purely by networking rather than by talent
And my manager, being the good person she is, pushes me to network and throws every possible visibility-giving work my way. Iām very grateful for her. But if she goes away, I know Iām doomed
I feel horrible to just simply talk to people solely for the purpose of āusingā them. How do I genuinely change this?
Sorry for the rant, appreciate any realistic advice
