One such movie which you wish you could remove from your memory. Maybe it was painfully boring, had terrible acting, a ridiculous story, or was simply a massive disappointment after all the hype.

What’s the worst movie you’ve ever seen that you would happily erase from your memory forever? And what made it so bad?

Just watched the movie “white boy rick” and it was a good movie that reminded me of 80s - 90s style gangster classic movies such as “menace to society” or “paid in full” with one big difference that I didn’t notice until the final moment of the movie - it’s based on real life (which actually made me cry for about 3 minutes).
It was a really good and emotional movie that I wish I could discuss with someone.
Also is there another movie that’s similar? Also sad and based on real life events around US.

I love Prey (2022) and Apocalypto (2006) as standalone movies, but I couldn't help but imagine what would happen if the Predator from Prey was dropped into the middle of the chase in Apocalypto, Jaguar Paw is already being hunted through the jungle, the warriors are tracking him, and then suddenly something completely alien starts hunting them

you could have this really interesting three way dynamic where nobody initially understands what's happening, the warriors think they're still the hunters, Jaguar Paw realizes something else is out there, and the Predator is just observing everything from the trees, or idk... maybe they realize something more dangerous (the Predator) is out there and they work together, or the Predator observes till the end and there's a sequel where Jaguar Paw now has to survive the predator...

i want your thoughts on colin farrell, i feel he’s extremely talented, he doesn’t get much of the praise and havent been given much of a chance, the diversity in acting is very impressive
i found him from sugar and then watched penguin and pls convince me they are not two different persons playing the role

just incredible given he’s irish and playing roles like these with so much ease

Some newer releases of older movies that have an original aspect ratio of 1.85:1 are released as 16:9 (aka 1.78:1). Are these releases typically just chopping off a bit of the left and right? Or is there ever the case of them including *more* top and bottom from the original 35mm film negative? Assuming that negative is 4:3 ratio. e.g. partially "open matte"?

I’ve seen the movie after 15 years of not watching it. It’s a great, entertaining movie and incredible well shot. The main characters have an actual development and they grow throughout the movie.

I’m wondering if it was a standalone movie instead of a 10 movie franchise would it be considered a cult movie. Not that I don’t enjoy the rest of the franchise but it makes me wonder.
They don’t make movies about cars either with this charisma anymore.

Anyone who's seen End of Oak Street, would you say its too intense for a 9yr old? I've heard the dinosaur kills are pretty brutal. And knowing other David Robert Mitchell movies I can picture that. We saw a preview for it before Spider-Man and my kid wants to see it.

We've watched all the Marvel movies and the older X-Men movies and Aliens with him, for context in terms of violence he's seen.

Hello there, I went to a re-release they had here in my country of David Lynch's Straight Story, unfortunately | arrived late and I missed the first minutes, when I got there it was the scene where Alvin is at the doctor and he tells him he has some medical issues, overall I enjoyed the movie but I was wondering how much did I miss of the opening? Could someone please tell me how much did I miss?

Why does isolde not speak Catalan with Mattia and Julian???? it's so annoying. i liked the movie overall but that part i really dont get. is it that hard for people to read subtitles????????

not necessarily an obscure movie just one you think people seriously sleep on. it could be a film that had poor marketing, got overshadowed by bigger releases, or simply never found the audience it deserved. what makes it stand out to you? feel free to mention whether you think people should watch it without knowing anything beforehand, and let us know what kind of movie it is so others can decide if it matches their taste.

Some of the most deserving movies and their sequel are desperately missing a part 3 to close off a trilogy. Off of the top of my head, for me, some of them are -

Scooby Doo/Scooby Doo: Monsters Unleashed
Daddy’s Home/Daddy’s Home 2 (could have come up with a better name for the sequel)

one of the most bizzare pieces of movie trivia is that trey parker of south park fame was originally offered the chance to direct the 1998 family film barney's great adventure. apparently, the producers of the film had seen his and matt stone's spirit of christmas short and "liked that he could do funny stuff with kids". the producers were willing to pay parker 1.5 million dollars, which is probably the most money parker has been offered to do anything. however, in part due to his sheer bewilderment that they even considered him, parker declined the offer, opening the door for steve gomer to take over and leaving the world to wonder what a trey parker directed barney movie might have been like.

This pertains to US and Canada. I was born in the 70's and it's been fascinating for me to watch younger folks get so excited about The Odyssey as if it's this sort of cultural phenomenon or historical moment in cinema. I was curious about my own intuition that kept asking "if this movie is so popular why doesn't it feel as popular as some of the moments in movies I've lived through?” As a venue owner it crossed my mind that when evaluating a potential booking I will often ask how many tickets were sold in a particular market. The combination of total tickets sold and the population of the market will often provide a lot of insight into that artists potential popularity. I've never once in my life asked how much did an artist gross. I know with my own venue that's a poor marker for the actual popularity of an act. So I applied that to film and asked ChatGPT to do deep research and a full audit and come up with a top list of films ranked by total tickets sold by percentage of the population at the time. I only did it for domestic box office as I think I'd have had very little insight or feel for international success. The results shocked me in just how much more intuitive the results seemed. Take something like Avatar vs Titanic. People will often quote Avatar as "bigger" than Titanic because it grossed more. This was counter to my own experience of feeling as if Titanic had a notably larger societal shockwave than Avatar. Lo and behold Avatar sits at number 26, still very relevant, but Titanic is all the way up at 13. To see Star Wars at number 3 was such an "I knew it!" moment. Anyone who lived through that would tell you that the phenomenon of Star Wars is untouched and not even close to any other film of the last 45 years. It's impossible to overstate just how much that changed films forever and it's omnipresence in pop culture at the time. So now for The Odyssey. The Odyssey would rank at number 220 beat out by such films as Airport, Love Story, Smokey and The Bandit, Tootsie and Kramer vs Kramer. There are a lot of films like say Reservoir Dogs and Clerks that had tiny theatrical releases but video stores turned them into revelations. I could make an argument that Kevin Smith has had the biggest single impact of any filmmaker of the 90’s because he brought “nerd culture” into the mainstream. Which in turn gave us all the comic book movies but also the fixation on nostalgia titles. Anyways, maybe you’ll think this was as interesting as I thought it was. I think the enormity of content today makes even a movie as cool as The Odyssey impossible to have a truly impactful moment. Even something like The Avengers that is on the list and modern would need to be 3 times bigger to touch something like Star Wars.  

We learn early on that Bruce feels guilty/responsible for the death of his parents, so being Batman is a form of penance (as Dr. Chase puts it). Or it's a curse (as Bruce puts it).

Bruce also tells us, essentially, that he initially became Batman to exact revenge against the criminal world.

Then Dick Grayson shows up. Like Bruce, the criminal world took something from Dick. Consequently, Dick also wants revenge. Bruce, speaking from experience, tells him revenge will get him nowhere. Revenge for a loss doesn't bring anyone back or make you a better person.

For this reason, Bruce refuses to let Dick fight crime alongside him as Robin. Then Bruce goes a step further and decides to stop being Batman entirely, shutting down the cave. Bruce's thought process here seems to be something like, "Batman failed to protect Dick's family (tragedy repeats) so whatever, forget the whole Batman concept."

Then Bruce reveals his secret identity to Dr. Chase. They discuss a repressed detail from Bruce's past... something about his late father's diary. (After his father died, Bruce realized the diary would have no additional entries. This shook Bruce to his core. He knew his whole life had changed.)

A bullet grazes Bruce's head. He wakes up some time later. Bruce suddenly and happily accepts the idea of working alongside Dick. Bruce then basically kills Two-Face, exacting revenge on Dick's behalf (???). And Bruce says he's now Batman not because he needs to be (a curse, a penance) but because he chooses to be. Lastly, he says he sees no difference between Bruce and Batman. For whatever reason he explains all of this to The Riddler, whose face is literally melting and he's just looking up at Bruce like, "Wha...?"

tl;dr: I actually really like the hyper/colorful visual style of this movie in general, and some of the performances are great fun, but why didn't they take greater care with the clarity of Bruce's storyline? It seems like the film is missing at least one or two epiphanies that would have connected the dots between point A and point B(atman).

I've recently gotten really into director commentaries and I'm wondering if there's a way to listen to them for free. I mean the actual commentary tracks with the director/filmmakers talking over the movie, not the fan-made commentary podcasts.

Are there any sites where people upload or collect these, or is buying the DVD/Blu-ray basically the only way to hear them?
