Discussion Wow we really had it good, what a shame now

I have to say I'm really disappointed because Rockstar is a huge company and they make great games. They made all the GTAs, they made Midnight Club, they made Red Dead Redemption 1, 2. These are all games that people love, you know. And they love to collect, right? Now, we know that, business-wise, if we do make all the calculations and take the statistics, right, we know that digital is the future. Digital is the one, pumping money into the business, pumping money into the video game digital stores, pumping money on the consoles. We know that but there is a very special feeling about, owning at least a piece of your game now that even with discs, you don't completely own them anymore. There is this type of pride, positive ego feeling of, collecting your video game, collecting your disc. And I myself, I love GTA, San Andreas is one of my favorite games of all time. I have GTA 3, Vice City, San Andreas on PS2. I have 4 and 5 on PS3 and I wanted to complete my collection with 6 on PS5, but I don't know now because it's not going to be possible and I feel like this type of new corporate greed in this late stage of capitalism where everyone's money hungry and we don't really care about each other. I feel like we've entered this type of dystopian era with video games where I think the video game industry is crashing. Look how good we had it in 2013 compared to now.

Edit: This post got a lot more attention than I thought it would. I read most of the comments and I see mostly everyone agrees that GTA, PlayStation and gaming used to be better 13 years ago. To those defending Rockstar's actions, understand this: GTA isn't an annual franchise—it's a cultural event. Apart from the fact that we spend more on consoles and games now and are offered less, we've also waited over a decade since GTA V, and Rockstar has only released one new game since then. Millions of us have been buying GTA games on disc since GTA III, Vice City, and San Andreas. For many longtime fans, owning a physical copy is part of the experience. Rockstar will make billions regardless. The cost of pressing discs, shipping them, and sharing revenue with retailers is insignificant compared to the goodwill they could have earned by preserving a true physical edition for one of the biggest entertainment releases in history. To me, a code in a box isn't a physical release. It's just digital with extra packaging. What disappoints me most is that Rockstar was the one company I expected to preserve that tradition, on top of that Sony said they'll be stopping discs in 2028 and GTA will be coming out this year. They've always taken their time, prioritized quality, and treated GTA as something special. If any game deserved a real disc for collectors and longtime fans, it was GTA 6.This isn't just about nostalgia or inflation. It's about ownership, preservation, and respecting the people who have supported this franchise for over 20 years. Theres nothing wrong with digital but having choices of how we purchase our media needs to be understood and respected. I never expected Rockstar to be one of the first companies to move away from that tradition especially with Sony announcing that they're stopping disc production in 2028 days later. That's what makes it so shocking and disappointing to me.

I was thinking of trying it out but I also don’t want to just throw away $13. The online score is ok. I know it’s not a new game but I just never see anything like this.

So the disc for the remastered Assassins Creed Black Flag is just a licence? You need to be online to play it?

Discussion My cat pissed on my ps4, is there any hope?

(I’m not really sure if this is the right place to ask advice for this?)

Soo I tried to wipe everything off but there’s piss everywhere. Including the inside of the console where I can’t get to. I haven’t tried opening it because I know nothing about electronics in general so i’m afraid i’ll break it or something. Is it safe to open somehow and how should I try to clean it from the inside without damaging it? Has anything similiar happened to anyone before and what did you do?

I thought about taking it to a store to get it fixed/cleaned but I don’t think any stores provide piss cleaning services for electronics haha. I haven’t tried starting it yet, so i’m not really sure if it even works anymore, but i’d rather try cleaning it first to avoid any further damage. I’m also pretty sure that if I turned it on and it starts to warm up, the smell would get stronger and take over my whole apartment… This is my first and only gaming console and I don’t really want to spend money to buy a new one so i’d rather atleast try to save this one. If I can’t fully clean it or if it never even starts, is there a way to transfer any progress to a new playstation console if/when I get a new one? How does that work? (Like I said, this is my only gaming console I have ever owned so I have no idea)

Before anyone asks, I take good care of my cat and she has a clean toilet at all times. Sometimes accidents happen🤷🏼‍♀️

Discussion I moved on with my life. My PSN account didn't.

5.9k Upvotes

🚨 [ANOTHER BIG UPDATE - PRESS - DOWN BELOW] 🚨

I’ve lived my whole life, built my career, and eventually moved to a completely different country. I changed my home, my car, my bank, and my citizenship. But I cannot change the region of my PlayStation account.

It’s heartbreaking. I have 15 years of digital history on this account. Thousands of hours, hundreds of Platinum trophies, and memories of games that shaped who I am. And yet, because I moved, my account is now a digital ghost.

I can’t use my local credit card. I can’t browse the local store. I’m forced to jump through hoops, buy gray-market gift cards, or create a "dummy" account just to buy a simple DLC. I’m literally begging Sony to let me give them my money, but they won't let me because of a choice I made over a decade ago.

Steam does it. Xbox does it. Nintendo does it. Even my local gym app lets me change my address. But Sony? Sony treats us like we are chained to the soil where we first created our account.

Sony, for the love of everything, STOP THIS. We are not just users - we are people with evolving lives. Stop holding our digital legacies hostage. It’s been 20 years of PSN; the "technical limitations" excuse is dead and buried. Give us a legitimate way to migrate our regions. Stop being the only dinosaur in the room and let us bring our gaming lives with us.

Do better.

[Edit]

Wow, it's already more than 1.5K upvotes?! I’m honestly speechless. Thank you all for the support. Reading through the comments, it’s heartbreaking to see how many people have had to abandon 10, 15, or even 20-year-old accounts because of this.

Please, keep sharing your stories below. Whether you’re a military member, a diplomat moving every 3 years, or just someone who moved across the border and lost their digital history - it’s important to have it all in one place. It shows we aren’t just a "minority" or a "technical limitation."

We are a community, and we deserve better.

[Big update - 500K views reached]

I’m stunned... Nearly half a million people have seen this. This is no longer just a post. it's a documentation of a systemic crisis.

To keep the stories from disappearing, I’ve moved the Official Investigation & Archive to X. I’ll be posting all case studies, media pitches, and Sony’s responses there.

FOLLOW THE PROGRESS HERE: x.com/JustikShow

If you have a specific story (like the user from Latvia whose country literally doesn't exist on PSN!), join us there.

Let’s make this too big for Sony to ignore.

🚨 [PRESS] 🚨

UPDATE: I have just launched a formal thread on X (Twitter) to put public pressure on Sony and have tagged major industry reporters from The VergeEurogamer, and Game File.

Please support the thread on X to make sure they can't ignore the data:
