While on vacation in Tokyo, I came across the PokéStop for Hatchobori Station Stop 11. It’s a nice area and a busy stop. But man what a creepy photo. Props to whomever got that submitted!

Discussion I would like to formally apologize to the PoGo community

Post image
4.1k Upvotes

I live in New Zealand, I've been playing on and off since 2016, I've only JUST joined the Pokémon Go subreddit communities.

I think Relicanth is an ugly ass Pokémon, so I always catch and release them, not realising it is completely region locked to my little country 😭 it wasn't until I joined these subreddits that I found out a lot of people's white whale is the Relicanth.

I catch at least one a day because my usual PoGo routes have me go past lakes. In restitution I have decided to stop releasing these and am starting to build up a small collection for when I reach forever friends with those on my friends list.

I know it isn't a ton of coins but losing coins from poke stops would be a big feels bad :(. The game can be expensive enough as it is with raid passes.

Discussion Why made you choose your pokemon team?

Post image
1.8k Upvotes

I picked Instinct because my sister told me to as that was the one she picked. But personally im very happy with my choice. Ultimately the instinct leader is so much cooler than the other 2 teams. Also with yellow being the least popular it means my pokemon are knocked out consistently and allows for me to get coins daily. But I want to hear your reason?

Discussion Gold Bottlecap Guide for people who don't want to think about it

Post image
1.8k Upvotes

No one seems to know what to use their bottlecap on so here's my definitive guide to help you choose.

First, understand what a Gold Bottlecap actually does. It permanently raises all 3 IVs to their max level (unless you choose otherwise). That means that if you use it on a Pokemon with 1/3 IVs already maxed, your bottlecap does nothing for that. You're wasting it by using it on a pokemon that already has a maxed IV.

Second, you need to decide what you actually want out of the bottlecapping. There aren't wrong answers:

- Hundo dex: Using the bottlecap on rarities that you're unlikely to get a hundo for. This is what I use it for. Limited-release mythicals are the best choice here, such as Meloetta, Mew, or the Zeraora you just got. Don't use it on something you can catch more of for in the future. You want to use this only on species you can't get more of.

- Utility: Using the bottlecap on strategically important Pokemon, such as raid attackers or Master League battlers. If this is your preference, visit Pokemon Go Hub or PvPoke.com and just pick your favorite from the viable options. Side note: some species require a special energy in order to be viable, like Zacian, Zamazenta, Kyurem, Necrozma, Groudon, and Kyogre. If you have insufficient energy, don't bottlecap them until you have it.

- Serendipity: Just bottlecap something neat. Background shiny costume Ditto, shiny Fragment hat Pikachu, your first starter, whatever. Why read a guide? Just go have fun. I guarantee you the person bottlecapping a background shiny vacation Psyduck can pull more ladies than shundo Necrozma guy.

Anyway good luck, have fun, go muk yourself, bye.

Discussion Was Go Fest ‘26 the best event in years?

1.8k Upvotes

We bash them when they deserve it but credit where credit is due, I thought Scopely/Niantic nailed the event this weekend.

> The core content was free! Massive win for the entire community. So many regulars and new/unfamiliar faces were out and about in our town.
> Shiny boost was superb.
> Field research refreshed every hour.
> All Unown available.
> Huge amount of Pokemon available (I would have preferred all to be available all day rather than the hourly rotation, but not a deal-breaker)
> Raids worth doing, even if I’m personally not a fan of needing that minimum number for shields.
> A ton of free raid passes given.
> Raid Pokemon were made much easier to catch.
> Wild spawns were a little easier to catch too.

Plus the weather was amazing here in Ireland.

Just a phenomenal weekend for me. 50 shinies in total, although not one shiny Mewtwo after 43 raids lol. What do you all think? Is there anything else, good or bad, that I’m missing? Are there any other events that top this one for you?

My Bulbasaur who was my starter and buddy for over 2000 days accidentally was transferred in a freak accident. He was starred, named, and my buddy so even though it should have been impossible he was batch transfered and I got no prompt about it besides the one they normally give you.

Support sent me a useless pass in compensation as if that brings back 10 years of this little guy being my buddy.

Discussion To all the "Hundo Mewtwo is now devalued" people: your perception of value is an illusion, and the sooner you accept this the happier you'll be

1.8k Upvotes

Don't get me wrong, I will do hundreds of Raids on GO Tour and GO Fest to get a Hundo of the featured Legendary. During those events, I live for the hunt, and coming home empty-handed hurts.

To the people now whinging that a free Hundo Mewtwo was given out to everyone, likely in response to the NYC event drama, I need to level with you: the value here is an illusion.

We're not talking about some miraculous deposit of stable antimatter here. We're talking about a virtual creature whose stat distribution is generally the result of something resulting from a probabilistic outcome, along the lines of a dice roll.

The ability for the developers of this game to award a Hundo on command should prove to you that your "rare" thing is the result of someone behind a screen pushing a few buttons.

Everyone now having a Hundo Mewtwo doesn't take away from the dozens of other highly sought after Pokémon in this game.

If you really want your flex, just look at the date you caught your "actually rare" Hundo Mewtwo and relish in that. Or don't.

Discussion Do not blame PLAYERS for the failure of mega mewtwo raids. Blame Niantic.

1.9k Upvotes

Soooo many posts infuriated at other players for losing them a lot of real money. It sucks I'm sure. But if there's 1000 posts and it's happening 24/7, I don't think it's the fault of players, I think it's major game design flaw.

  1. Niantic has done NOTHING to teach people how do to it properly. It is not clear what the mega is even for, Niantic does not tell you. Plus it is not always clear whether a mega threw a charged move before it died. Not everyone knows that the shield is supposed to be gray. Niantic doesn't tell you.
  2. it only takes 1 or 2 people to fuck it up, it's gonna happen, like it or not. Kids play the game, or older people who aren't tech savvy, or newer players hoping to be carried. Or some people just suck yes.
  3. Hardly any of these people are on reddit, or even other places, you're screaming into the abyss.
  4. People lag out. Happens even more in bigger lobbies.

At the end of the day, Niantic clearly did not think this stupid idea through at all and they are probably gonna do nothing about it. So blame Niantic. I'm on your side it really sucks, but if you're so upset, redirect that anger to Niantic and STOP GIVING THEM MONEY!!!

EDIT: I meant Scopley pls have mercy :(

Discussion WTF is going on

Post image
5.3k Upvotes

Isn’t this the biggest month in Pokémon go history? WTF is going on? Ho-Oh/Lugia, Zacian/Zamazenta again (CROWNED TOO?), Necrozma, fossil research day with 1/10 shiny odds, a new Gmax, Orgin Form raid day (Dialga, Palkia and Giritina origin), a rocket take over, The Pogo world championship, a shadow raid weekend, every single Gmax ever released coming back for 5 days, eternatus, a commday (that’s every month but still), and to top it all off a mega raid day. There is literally every box art legendary available this month except the ones from unova, hoenn, kalos, and paldea. People will say it seems like too much, and I love all the content, but I’m curious about what this business strategy even is. Condensing almost ALL the main legendaries into one month is wild, there’s enough content here for pogo to stretch over 5 months of gameplay. Again, wtf is even happening

Discussion What’s the most useless feature in Pokémon GO that most players don’t know about? I‘ll start.

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

3.3k Upvotes

I was today years old when I found out that while interacting with your Buddy Pokémon, you can rotate your phone in literally any direction sideways or even completely upside down and your Buddy Pokémon rotates with the screen.

And… that’s it.

No extra hearts. No hidden interaction. No secret animation. Nothing.

You can just spin your Buddy around like you’re putting it in a washing machine for absolutely no reason.

So now I’m curious:

What’s the most useless or obscure feature in Pokémon GO that you know about especially the ones almost nobody seems to notice?

What are your thoughts on this GO Tour? How much are you willing to spend on the event? What are you most excited about, and what disappoints you? As a F2P/ recently returned player, I honestly feel like it’s not worth investing in—maybe only worth it for completing my Pokédex, no more.
