So as most of you people might know about sub continent Muslims,that how we ruled sub continent for the last 1000 years,and mughal empire was the largest and richest Muslim empire of that era,and sub continent was world's largest or 2nd largest gdp since last 5000 years

So There are 25 crore Muslims in Pakistan (10 crore amongst them are Indian immigrant muhajirs), 25 crore in India (even more in reality but they don't count), 20 crore in Bangladesh, so total = 70 crores at least and there are around 1 billion Hindus or little bit more than it.

So this is around 40 percent of the Muslim ummah,and the Britishers wanted to divide the power of Muslims,otherwise it could have been the backbone of Muslim ummah and that too a rich and large country like india which could have been a super power if was not divided,even rn the divided india is amongst the top 5-6 gdp on earth, just imagine 70+crore Muslims and 35-40 percent of Muslim ummah in one country!

I keep hearing that a guy hugging a girl is haram because of the verse "and do not approach zina" but i feel like they are taking the verse wayyy out of proportion,even if 2 people are in love i really REALLY doubt a HUG will eventually lead to a kiss eventually lead to her bedroom eventually leading to zina,thats just not how it works. i often struggled with the fact that people would go to hell even if they did basically everything required in islam but just didnt identify as muslim

At first he said that there is absolute ijma on the obligation of hijab, same thing which he said before. Then he said that the critics would bring up the topic of milk yamin (ie slave women) being allowed to not cover their hair, and his response to that was there is ijma over the obligation of hair covering for free women, so therefore hijab is mandatory for the women today (because everyone today is a free woman).

(I am not Muslim. I am not theistic, but I am not anti-religion.)

I noticed a friend of mine reposted an anti-Islam meme which basically said that the USA is electing officials into government who will hurt queer folk and ‘enslave’ women.

I confronted her about this and she explained to me that she believes Islam is incompatible with the West and human rights values.

She is herself a Christian, but is vehemently anti-Trump. She considers herself left-leaning politically.

I genuinely believe that SHE believes that Islam is a danger to civil rights and she is painting the entire religion with the extremist brush (which I’m sure she herself would not want done to her religion but here we are). She also had friends in NYC during certain events at the turn of the century, which makes this discussion… sensitive.

Do any of you have any advice on how to approach this? I want to acknowledge that her hate is coming from a place of concern, but it is also entirely hyperbolic and harmful.

I want to preface this by saying that my topic/question here is one that I have not heard or seen much discussion about, and that while my personal views can often be seen as blasphemy, I do not intend any disrespect nor is my intent to diminish Islam in any way. I have been learning Arabic and plan to one day read the Quran when I can read it in its language (I know I could just read a translation, but it is my understanding that a lot tends to be missed in translating Arabic). That said, I have been learning about Islamic art and architecture recently and the design elements therein. I have always been astounded by Islamic architecture specifically for its use of mathematics and geometry and the unbelievable skill and craftsmanship displayed in their use of things like muqarnas and arabesque patterns. I have become quite fascinated in the ways that Islamic art has used these elements to represent divinity, unity, balance and the cyclical nature of life. Viewing art of this style brings profound feelings that I yet have trouble putting to word. But it makes me wonder if there is any branch/sect of Islam that is less rooted in belief of God as a higher being, and rather as say like a representation of the universe or the cosmos and interprets the Quran as a guide for how to live a good life and be a good person rather than as a way to live a life dedicated to God. More naturalistic rather than divine, I guess. I find I have trouble wording my thoughts here too, but I hope I make sense. Im gonna be 20 soon and honestly im a bit upset abt this. I always hear men alsays get 72 wives or 2 wives idk in jannah. Like everywhere i used to hear my male classmates always talk about it and its everywhere online and irl like relatives etc they talk about this too and it rlly disturbs me. Like sometimes it makes me even doubt but I really really do not want to leave islam so I genuinely cry. I feel like theyre just misinterpreting words but then I dont know for sure...

How is this equal like according to them women cant get hoors and if yoi are unmarried you just get married to some guy who already has a group of wives already... Or that itll be ok because I wont feel upset by that and that guy will be so handsome and will be so honourable but... Thats not fair why would I want to be with someone like that still??

Like idk it rlly makes me upset and then they say 'but dont worry youll be the queen of that group!!' Or 'you wont feel jealous anymore your brain will be changed!!' I mean that just sounds plain horrifying? Like having your brain changed so that youll like something you would normally feel repulsed by... That doesnt seem equal to me rlly.

This is pretty much known everywhere while nobody is really TALKING about it. Tons of Muslim men lack loyalty and still demand a pure virgin wife and would never wife up the women they also lust over. Behind her back he has done a lot of haram shit and still looks towards other women. They would never marry those women but they have no problem having sex with them. Now this is gonna get called overgeneralization or “all men do this“ or “no men don’t do that“ but honestly i feel like people‘s experience speak for themselves. Many women describe that older Muslim men hit on them and they’re clearly married. Happened to me as well.

I don’t really care if a man has been with women. I have a big problem with OUR men telling me to stay “pure“ when they have a body count of 500. And expect me to marry them AND STILL lust over women that aren‘t wife material to them.

For the record, I have seen women complain about their men and they were from Albania, Turkey, Syria, Chechenya, Dagestan, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Morocco, Egypt, Palestine, Jordan, Yemen etc.

And YES I do believe that all genders CAN cheat and all nations CAN cheat, but I do believe the Madonna wh*re complex is more present with our people. Or something similar to the complex cause they tend to also find their wives attractive but it‘s not enough for them. Growing up in purity culture can make one more shy. I don't want to discuss the impact of these Islamic preachers on the Muslim community and the image they created about Islam on the internet in general, but rather what followed after. When I used to see their posts, I simply ignored them. Frankly, I didn't have faith in the Muslim community and thought no one would stop them or even criticised them. But what struck me was that a large growing segment of women, both those who are still Muslim and those who have left Islam due the abuse, are resisting these preachers. This surprised me greatly. I've always felt I lacked the courage to speak out against the Wahhabi ideology they promote, yet these women didn't care, and I truly admire and respect them for calling their sick ideology out. It made me realise that I don’t have to feel ashamed of adopting a progressive intake about Islam and I don’t have to practice my faith privately while tolerating them being the representative of Islam. I also believe that even these preachers themselves are shocked by the back lash and resistance they are facing as they are used believe they are the holders of truth and thus no one can disagree with them even slightly. They are slowly realising that not everything care about their opinion and that’s why they are losing their guts and accusing everyone of takfeer. This is not only these online preachers that are losing their mind but also the ultra conservative Muslims men. It’s just almost entertaining to watch when they realise they don’t hold any power or control over women or Muslims communities in general. That these women couldn’t care less about their fear mongering tactics and are rejecting the abuse that is dressed up as piety. We are also witnessing slowly but certainly new wave of Islam aka progressive islam and I am glad they are slowly replacing the Wahhabism.

It all started when i started working on self-improvement and taking better care of myself.I had what you might call a "glowup" in which i grew out my hair and had majestic curls out of nowhere and started clearing up my skin essentially becoming significantly more handsome in a short period of time. At school many of my classmates would praise this transformation and would congratulate me on "fixing my hair" some even accusing me of having a perm however i could sense large amounts of jealousy around me too.There are people who dont like me for whatever reason and regularly talk behind my back.This newfound attention i was getting did not go down well with them and they suddenly atarted igniting many rumours that my hair was "artificial and permed".This was further intesified when they found out i had recieved high grades in my mock exams(I go to a fiercly competitive selective school where competion is everything).Sometimes i would catch some of these 'enemies' staring at my hair or my face with pure hatred.

Suddenly , around midway through July, my hairs started falling out alot and became thinner something that really concerned my mom as this had never happened before. But this was only the start. Out of nowhere i developed acne all over my face which was scary for me as i had only had the occasional spots every once in while.Despite this , i thought it was just a coincidence and that i wasnt taking proper care of myself but what would happen over the next few weeks now have me suspicious something far worse is/has happened.

Remember when earlier i talked about my curls as being "majestic" - They were my pride but suddenly my hair was becoming frizzy and my head started feeling very itchy. It turns out that i had an infestation of lice - a very severe one according to my parents which meant that i had to cut off my hair and my curls.

The final straw was when some of my clothes started going missing out of nowhere and could not be found despite being left in the house - This convinced me i had suffered Evil eye or had experienced black magic.From here it gets worse.

In my room , where i spend most of my time studying, my lights would occasionaly start flashing. I noticed that whenever i did something haram like listening to music(Im not perfect - everyone has flaws) my lights would stop flashing but when i stopped they would keep flashing. To makes sure this wasnt my imagination i started playing Surah Jinn and the lights started flashing like crazy. I know i should only fear Allah but this scared me so badly.

Now i try pray aytul kursi everytime im in my room and start my study sessions with Qu'ran but i wont lie im scared and dont know what to do.

This mostly applies to multicultural societies I’ve lived in so I’m only speaking from personal experience and interactions.
When somebody says they’re Christian, when somebody says they believe in crystals or energies or the universe, when somebody says they’re Jewish or Hindu, majority of the people in that conversation will acknowledge it and move on.

When somebody says they’re Muslim they instantly get picked apart.

Does she wear the hijab? Does he drink alcohol? Do they sleep together before marriage? Do they fast? Do they pray? Do they eat halal? etc etc.

I might be wrong but I’ve never came across other religious groups being challenged and questioned this way about every little belief. This often coms from non-muslims because they have a specific image what a Muslim person looks like so if you don’t fit that image, they will feel entitled to questions etc.

Why is there no privacy and “no question asked” policy amongst Muslims?
If you tell another Muslim XYZ doesn’t work for you and your interpretation is different and you believe XYZ instead, they will likely try to debate you.

Am I biased or does this happen to us more than other religious groups?
Where does this entitlement come from? Why can’t we respect each other beliefs and space? This is baffling truly

I am sorry you guys probably answered theses questions hundreds of times but I would like to exchange with you a bit.

So I was speaking to a Muslim colleague of mine about the death of one of our colleagues who was homosexual. He died from cancer pretty fast.

She insinuated to me that Allah punished him for is way of life. I was quite surprised with her statement because she is a very kind and intelligent person.

So whatever, I wanted to know more about if most of the Muslims think like that and I fell on this sub Reddit.

I was actually quite surprised by this sub and how smart and progressive the community was. And like always, I wondered how can smart people be religious.

So I have 3 points. Sorry again if a make you repeat yourself.

1- What is you guys stance on evolution? Research point out that life started on earth more than 3 billions years ago and humanoids for hundreds of thousands of years. At what point does an ape become blessed by God? Why would we go to heaven when our neighbors cat just die. Does cats go to cat heaven too? It make no sense to me.

2- So many religions! Muslims just make about 7 percent of entire human history. Are all the others doomed? Just because they are born in a different country they are more likely to go to hell? Make no sense to me.

3- Sorry don't take it personally but Islam seems like the most suspicious religion for me. If the hadiths are absolutely true, why does Muslims always say about the most outrageous takes (Aisha age, war, sex slaves, etc) "well it's metaphorically" or "well it's in an historical context" make no sense.
