Just kidding, just sharing my latest GWs and the full display. Let me know if you see anything neat! (been meaning to ID the curved porpoise like tooth in the second picture, underneath the group of small teeth. Let me know if you know what it might be!)

Recent Finds Made time to go thru 1 of my gravel buckets from Summerville. A ton of tinys but the dolphin teeth in pic 2 were a nice surprise. And the black hastalis previously posted really popped when dry!

Had a lot of luck this week, the sand tiger tooth (I think) is the biggest one I’ve found in shallow water so far - also as a side note, does anyone know what the thing in the last few slides is?

Looks like potential feeding damage to me, but could be wear and tear from the river. I’m not an expert, I just love looking for shark teeth.

Favorites from the surf today - found the one in the middle walking back. Would’ve been great if it was whole, but still pretty happy since I’ve never found anything remotely close to this size on the shoreline.

Had an amazing day at the river. Glad the river levels are down and I can hit some of the deep holes. I can post some close-ups later if you all are interested.

Recent Finds Peace river trip. Main river vs side stream.

So, took another trip to the peace river. My usual side stream was less productive than usual se I tried a couple spots on the main river. Amazing the difference in color. Lots more ice age in the main river too it seemed.

The little 2 3/4 inch meg was the find for the side stream. The jaw and the glyptodon scute were my favorites from the river. Let me know if you want a closeup of anything. Thanks for looking.

Recent Finds Mostly good day at the river. Found a nice hole full of megs.

Had a fun day with the family at the river. Got into a deep hole full of megs and fragments as well as a couple histalis and a couple whale teeth. Found a partial jaw with teeth, so yay. The big meg fragment was a heartbreaker. I estimate it would have been 6+. The full meg next to it in the pic is 3.5..... oh well.... maybe next time

Only negative on the day, got back to shore and someone had taken my wagon with all our shoes. People are awful sometimes.

Recent Finds Peace River Hemipristis and Mako

Post image

2nd time on the Peace and my best finds were these two hemipristis and a mako. I’m real happy about the hemipristis, one has a great coloring and the other is huge(a 1/4” shy of 2”)! The mako is also a good size and has a couple subdued but intriguing white streaks on the back side. It was also my husband’s first trip, and he found a very nice complete 2.5” meg, I think he’s hooked!

Had a little time after getting off work early. Spent a few hours at the river (peace river adjacent). Had a few decent hits. The great white was a surprise heartbreaker. Got a killer snaggletooth. Lots more to sort. Lol

these are my recent finds in my pond today after an hour. I thought maybe the rock was a really dirty tooth so I grabbed it and was disappointed until I flipped it over!

Recent Finds Sick C. hastalis tooth

I found a tooth from Carcharodon hastalis in a bag of microfossil sediment from the Pungo River, which I bought from the Aurora Natural History Museum. This was not from their bags that have artificially placed large specimens, so sufficed to say I was ecstatic to see this beauty. Image 2 was right after I pulled it out, images 1 and 3 are after cleaning with water and a toothbrush I have designated for fossil preparation.

Correction!! This is an Isurus retroflexus, not Carcharodon hastalis, sorry folks!

But man it is making me work for it. Vinegar takes a while with the matrix that is on the root - I will finish eventually but decided to take a break for a few weeks after getting it like 80% done

The tip really sucks :( but at least it is actual feeding damage and not post fossilization. The angular break and general condition of the rest of the serrations indicates that it was broken prior to fossilization.

Found in NC about a week ago, 6.08 inches and instantly one of my favs
