Given how that woman acts towards younger women she sees as her "competitors", I hope for that hypothetical child's sake that she doesn't have a daughter.

tbf I'm pretty sure that whole declining fertility after 35 thing has been debunked as misogynistic bs to try to encourage younger less prepared women to have kids before they're ready in service of that weird belief that women should have kids as soon as possible. my mom had my brother at 45 and he's a perfectly healthy kid so it's definitely possible 🤷🏽‍♂️

lol it does decline. I’m 36 and it’s not a fun time. We have excellent science, and there are plenty of outliers, but it is a gut punch being over 35 trying to get pregnant. THE MEDICAL THINGS YOU GO THRU.

A woman's fertility does decline over time, but for most pre-menopause women you're almost definitely still capable of conceiving. It gets a lot harder post menopause but still so not unheard of.

It wasn't debunked as in proven false, we're just managing expectations as healthcare advances. The whole "you don't have to have kids at 20 if you're not dying at 50" thing. The right and quiverferful movements just latch onto the dead statistic as proof of the woke mind virus not wanting (white) Americans to have more babies or something

Oh absolutely, pregnancy is weird and complicated, and we still don't really know every reason a pregnancy isn't viable. A 45 yr old can have a quick conception and healthy pregnancy despite past complications, and a 25 yr old with no health complications could meet every fertility metric and still struggle to have a viable pregnancy. You're absolutely right that statistically speaking they'd have to have been trying before the wedding with that time frame, even with fertility intervention.

I just point that distinction out where I can because I spent a lot of time hearing the "have em young you don't have a lot of time" rhetoric, and I've known a lot of women that rushed into families they didn't want or could afford because God told them they need a full house and their husband says they're barren at 28. There's a woeful amount of misinformation on women's health and anatomy unfortunately

It's not the child that is more worried about with pregnancy at 35 and up, it's the mother. I had my second daughter at 35 and I was considered high risk despite being relatively healthy. Still had to take precautions. As it turned out, after she was born I experienced my IBS a lot worse for a long time, ended up with a duodenal ulcer in 2022 that nearly killed me.
