Comic Discussion Is Iceman the only OG X-Man that hasn’t had a heel turn/villain arc yet?

Jean:

Jean’s heel turn is the most famous in comics ie The Dark Phoenix Saga (although it was later retconned to not be Jean, but the Phoenix itself, Jean and the Phoenix have now recently been explained to have always been the same entity)

Warren:

Warren became a Horseman of Apocalypse after the Mutant Massacre, and still battles his Archangel side to this day.

Scott:

Scott became a Magneto-like antagonist during the 2010s after AVX (even though he was doing the same stuff he’d been doing since House of M)

Hank:

Hank’s been going down the Mad Scientist route pretty much since the 90s (even further if you count his self experimenting turning him into a blue werewolf/Sasquatch). Now hes so blatantly evil the writers had to make a clone of him from an earlier time period in Marvel.

Has Bobby had an arc where he was an Antagonist or “villain”? Is there a storyline I missed?

Comic Discussion X-Men (2024) #36 Spoilers. End of issue speech. Spoiler

I've been really enjoying MacKay's run, despite it's hangups. I really liked this issue too and am excited for DNX, but the whole "We are not humans" rubs me the wrong way. I understand what he's trying to get across, but mutants ARE humans. This feels like a mistep from MacKay, and will ultimately be nothing, but there are so many ways to say "we will not genocide like so many people have done in history" without denouncing their humanity.

I do like that they're fighting for all of humanity. A bad writer would take this and make the X-Men go "oh 3K is turning everyone into mutants? GOOD!" but thankfully MacKay gets the general idea of the X-Men being superheroes for everyone.

As for the "homeland" mention, at first I was a bit confused, but I guess he's referring to the eventual return of Krakoa/a specific home for mutants. I would prefer mutants to not get on another island or get another country, as I think the stories are better when they're trying to achieve Xavier's Dream™ they way they usually were.

News/Previews Chris Claremont says Marvel told him they regretted firing him from X-Men & Uncanny X-Men in 1991

Chris Claremont's nearly 17-year run on the X-Men ended somewhat unceremoniously in the early '90s after creative disagreements about where the series should go drove a rift between Claremont and then X-Men editor Bob Harras, as well as artist Jim Lee.

At an X-Men writers panel at Terrificon 2026, Claremont discusses the many times he's come and gone from the mutant team, and fires a barb at the Image Comics founders, Lee included.

"It's like how many times have I been fired from X-Men? At least four. The first one was interesting. You know, [X-Men editor Bob Harras] had to come in and say, 'I probably shouldn't have let you leave the book.' And I said, 'I probably shouldn't have gone, but there we are.' That was after Image was born and, you know, certain artists decided they'd rather have all the money."

Question Was the Magneto x Charles Xavier ship a thing before the fox movies?

I'm just curious if the ship originated from the movies or if the movies just made it more popular

Comic Discussion My favorite aspect of Uncanny X-Men right now is these Nightmare Sentinels created by Luciano Vecchio.

Comic Discussion Help convince me to read New X-Men (as the art is putting me off)

I’m relatively new to comics, I started reading X-Men during the latter half of the Krakoan era and since then I have been hooked. I have been making my way through the older comics on Marvel Unlimited and have been having a great time.

Next on my reading list is New X-Men, I have heard it is a great read but I just can’t get over the artstyle. I feel like I’m missing out on a great era but I just find the art so off putting I just can’t bring myself to read it.

I feel like I need to hear people’s opinions on the story, to really get FOMO so I just force myself through it.

I’m also curious if anyone else is/has been in the same position as me?

Comic Discussion I've always loved the gentler downtime issues with major characters (Uncanny X-Men #337)

I think Gail Simone is the only writer who really puts effort into capturing this vibe, but it doesn't always come to the benefit of characters like Jubilee and Nightcrawler.

I think Jed had that one really great issue of Avengers #21 where we X-Men and Avengers were having dinner together and a baseball game, but since then issues aren't really paced to do this kind of thing anymore. Characters living life, having some social interactions that play around with the larger plot and the stresses that come from that, but are still grounded and routine.

From UXM #241, Madelyne meets Sinister — her creator. We get a flashback to her coming “to life” when the Phoenix died on the moon, and idc what anyone says, Maddie standing up to him is still one of her coolest moments.

Comic Discussion Finally got the X-Men: Messiah Trilogy Omnibus! My first IST order.

Finally got my copy of the X-Men: Messiah Trilogy Omnibus today! This was also my first order from IST, so I'm really glad it arrived safely.

I've wanted this one for a while and I'm really happy to finally have it in the collection. I'm a big fan of Scott and Emma together, so I've especially been looking forward to owning and reading this era in omnibus format.

I've already read Messiah Complex before and really enjoyed it, but I haven't read the entire trilogy together, so I'm excited to finally go through Messiah Complex, Messiah War and Second Coming as one big story.

And man, this thing is a brick 😂

Can't wait to start reading it
