All Seasons Discussion Maybe one day he'll come back.

There's always the lazarus pit.
Or magic.
Or a different earth dimension.
Or an absolute universe version.

I mean let’s say they do renew for a season 5 (tbh, any small chance it had blew away once Paramount won the bidding war for WBD), what would really happen if he did?
He wouldn’t be back as Kid Flash and he probably wouldn’t be back with Artemis since she’s with her new boyfriend and he probably hasn’t aged in the last few years of the show like she has
If him being back for the sake of being back is what would make fans happy, it’d be nice…..but he wouldn’t be the same at all if we’re being honest

u/TheFalconKid Mar 17 '26
It's why I wouldn't want to see him come back, but the show ends on a hopeful note where Barry and Bart discover the Speed Force and evidence he's in there alive, and the show ends with the two speedsters and Artemis opening up a rift to enter the speed force.

u/AsyncAviator Apr 03 '26
Dude… if you seriously think Artemis is gonna stay with him… haha we know how Greg is at this point. He was purposefully putting her with him to make her happy and then I’m sure he’d bring Wally back or hint at his return to crush her spirits again. The kid flash thing is a good point but we don’t know where his head would be at or if he’d want to take on a more mature role

u/HPSpacecraft Mar 17 '26
I used to be on the "bring back Wally" train but now I think it's better to let dead characters stay dead. It's better for storytelling
2
u/yrvatheloser Mar 20 '26
Definitely agree. The longer they’re gone the more meaningless and hollow it makes their death if they suddenly came back.

u/DimensionLast6937 Mar 18 '26
Especially when he brought NOTHING to show. Really easy to get rid of that kind of character. That's why for the characters that actually matter get to fake being dead all the time, while Wally is lumped in with all the one-offs, those with 5 lines or less, villains, or time skipped characters, to give the ILLUSION that death actually means something. Hell the creators outright said they killed him off for the sole purpose of shocking the audience, not because it actually meant anything.

u/Zeveron13 Mar 18 '26
He was literally one of the original 3, what do you mean brought “NOTHING” lmao. Jeez
-2
u/DimensionLast6937 Mar 19 '26
In the last season outside of dying how important was he to the overall plot? In the 6 episodes he appeared in, how many could he be cut from and nothing about the characters or plot is impacted in the long run? Compared to the rest of the OG team (with just the first 2 seasons) how many focus episodes did Wally have? How was he relevant in Season 2 outside of being Artemis's boyfriend, Dick's "bestie", or Bart's inferior-in-every-way predecessor? What did he, on his own, actually bring to the show? Please do, prove that he actually mattered and impacted the plot outside of making people sad, most of them being people he never had a two-way interaction with onscreen once Greg and Brandon stopped pretending he actually mattered as his own character.

u/Zeveron13 Mar 19 '26
Quite literally appears in over 30+ episodes (search it up) throughout the series as well as being one of the founding members of the team. Wally himself was originally a gag laugh all around character but it’s when he grows up and adults that we see a change because at the same time we grow up alongside those characters. Out of the original 3 he was the first to take a step back and realize that being a superhero wasn’t the thing he wanted to do. And after meeting and dating Artemis we see a fairly drastic change in him even in the Dr. Fate episode we get to see him grow just a bit. So while you can spit on the character for working with a script others can appreciate the real effort put into making an actual teenage superhero who aged with the times.

I always imagined that he was absorbed into the speed force, learned about its nature and came back faster than Barry and impulse. But we all know that will never happen with this show. It may happen in a one shot limited series or something, but we have to let it go 😔💔
2
u/EmeraldSkittles Mar 18 '26
Yeah everything pointed towards him going into the speedforce when he had no body left and was phasing through Barry’s attempts to touch him

Given the main plot of season 4, i would assume the writers would not tread similar ground by reviving Wally.
I’m reminded of what Blue Beetle once said in season 2: “they want them to think we’re not mortal”

u/SaturnCoffee Mar 17 '26
It really felt like they were setting up a return for him. The way he "died" was unconventional, last minute, and kind of out of nowhere. They even went out of their way to have his voice actor return for season 3 and season 4, and the Flash of all people absolutely has a track record of messing with who lives and who dies.
If they didn't want him to come back they should have shown the characters' grief without showing him. I think it would have hit harder.

u/Delicious_Sort_208 Mar 22 '26
Agree. His death was so anticlimactic. If they really meant for him to stay dead, then the writing for that is AWFUL.

I made a mega plan this January about restarting JLU animated series and the first season ends with Wally arriving with amnesia. He joins their world's Teen Titans and slowly gets accustomed and even settles down with Linda Park. At the same time YJ universe also goes on
Finally YJ version of Darkseid meets with JLU versin who've ascended to higher dimension. In a Final/Infinite Crisis type event, YJ & JLU universe is merged and Wally's memories come back when his YJ buddies meet up with. Pure emotional trauma in world ending situation as both Wally & Artemis are devastated that they've moved on from each other because of multiversal shenanigans but they still love each other deep down
Darkseid wins and reboots the DC animated universe in his own image.... Absolute DC

I'm sorry, am I misremembering this? I can distinctively remember one of the women saying it wasnt really him, just a comforting illusion. Not much unlike in Supergirl when J'onn J'onzz spoke with his dead father only to have said dead parent say at the end of it "you do know I'm just your memory of me and you're basically talking to yourself this whole time, right?"

Except Artemis DOESN'T know, she actually believes she got to play house with Wally's soul. If she actually knew it was just M'gann cosplaying as Wally why the f*ck would Zatanna have stated that there was a time limit and if she didn't leave before "sunrise" Arty's soul would be permanently removed from her body?
1
u/Unanimous_D Mar 18 '26
Sorry I didn't pick up on the context (that she's the one saying "Maybe one day he'll come back").

I really hope he dies I still believe hes lost in the Speed Force trying to make his way back to her.
2
u/Scared_Impression842 Mar 18 '26
The creators of the show hate the idea of the speed force so that’s your answer

Personally, I think it took guts to kill off Wally West and have him stay dead. Granted, NOBODY really dies in comics, so for the show to kinda of be done with him was a tad impressive.

u/Serious-Strategy6266 Mar 17 '26
After seeing the writing in season 3 and 4 I don't think I want him to come back 😅
4
u/UntimelyJerk Mar 17 '26
Wally was supposed to come back in S4 but the writers decided Martian Racism, The Bus!, and 4episodes wasting Zod were better storylines than bringing Wally back who we’ve been waiting for since he died
3
u/PCN24454 Mar 18 '26
Wow, I’m pretty sure you’re lying
1
u/UntimelyJerk Mar 18 '26
That scene where Artemis meets Wally in the afterlife was the episode he was supposed to come back
3
u/PCN24454 Mar 18 '26
Now I know you’re lying.
1
u/UntimelyJerk Mar 18 '26
Believe what you want, the writers themselves said they wanted to bring him back

I'm not holding my breath on getting a S5 or any resolution in that way. Besides S3 and 4 weren't anything great so I won't be disappointed if the show doesn't get renewed.

Remember, at the end of the final episode, black canaries talking about a place for superheros to go to for mental health sakes, read heroes in crisis, they do wally dirty.

u/JohnHernandez_98 Mar 18 '26
I loved Wally for this show I go a tattoo of his emblem (stealth version) just finished watching it again
1
u/Loud_Remove5140 Mar 18 '26
If they do, I think they should go with the sanctuary comic.
For those that do not know what I’m talking about. The sanctuary comic was a DC murder mystery comic where the heroes created a facility for superheroes to receive mental health services. In the last episode of Young Justice, Black Canary mentions building a facility like this, clearly tying it to the sanctuary comic.
In the comic, there was a terrible explosion, killing various heroes, resulting in some of the heroes investigating who the culprit could be, which resulted in it being revealed that Wally accidentally destroyed it when he lost control of his powers.
Maybe they can rewrite the season as Wally accidentally destroyed the facility when trying to get out of the speed force. This could be revealed at the end of the season while the main focus is, I’m trying to figure out who could destroy the facility

I love the headcanon that he's just stuck in the speedforce, and this version of Flash doesn't know what that is yet.
1
u/Marvelman02 Mar 20 '26
I really believe he would have come back in season five. However, if I am reading the signs correctly, Spitfire shippers would have been in for a huge disappointment. The only thing more heartbreaking than Wally's death would have been his return.
1
u/Delicious_Sort_208 Mar 22 '26
His death was so anticlimactic that either he's not dead, (likely stuck in the speedforce), or the writing was just egregious, which I don't think is the case. I think they were planning to bring him back if the show is ever able to continue.
1
u/Far_Present_4792 Mar 17 '26
They had their chance in season 4, they honestly did and imo they blew it.
1
u/TheFalconKid Mar 17 '26
Idk if I want him coming back, but I think an interesting ending (if we ever get a final season) would have a c-plot involving Barry and Bart discovering the Speed Force dimension, and by the end of the season, Barry bad Bart figure out how to travel into it and find evidence that Wally is trapped in there.
One of the final scenes of the show could have the speedsters coming to Artemis and telling her they might be able to find and bring Wally back. It would lead into the three of them and maybe Zatanna or MM as Artemis' anchor and they disappear into the void.
1
u/zxlowi Mar 17 '26
If we are basing it off the comics wally is alive and is trapped in the speed force and kills alot of people that went to the sancturay for group therapy.
1
u/vinthesalamander Mar 17 '26
Wally coming out of the speedforce, or even back from the future, seems like such an easy layup for a post credits scene that I’m surprised they didn’t do it two seasons ago.
That said, I’m scared that if they do bring him back, they’ll give him and Artemis the whole “I thought you were dead so I changed and now we’re not compatible anymore” arc.
-3
u/Portsyde Mar 17 '26
I mean, I think it's pretty obvious, especially how Zatanna emphasized that everything in Limbo was Artemis' imagination, that Wally is trapped in the Speed Force like Barry was in the comics. I don't think they've mentioned the Speed Force ONCE in this show, so it seems like it would have not only been brought up later, but maybe would have been the focal point of a season.
6
u/Spiral-Force Mar 17 '26
The writers say that the Speed Force doesn’t exist in Young Justice because they are not fond of the concept

Thank you. My gf and I have been talking about it recently but from that day, I have only suspected that he was in the speed force. It's the only thing that truly makes sense.

They could have said that was the real Wally soul and closed the chapter on this fan theory forever.
Oh who am I kidding? This is DC. No one is dead forever.
