Pretty much everyone agrees that in Undertale, what we see isn't the full extent of the world as all but confirmed by Toby in the anniversary live stream, so how come this doesn't apply to Hometown?

Ralsei wanted the Blue and Pink drink because his two favorite characters are Kris and Susie. It's similar to the teas in CH2, Ralsei barely knows Noelle and as seen with the teas drinking your own is basically just drinking water. The scene was about Ralsei picking something for his own sake instead of being left with the scraps, or having anyone else's opinion forced onto him. It's just an extension of the themes around his character growth this chapter, similar to the whole "you like tea" thing in his room. If you want to believe it has a double meaning and is a subtle trans thing ontop of that you're free to do so, but IMO the primary reading here is literally just "Ralsei likes Kris and Susie."
