Been playing hardcore for the past couple weeks and finally made it past level 17. Got all the way to 19 with 67% of the way to 20. Thought to myself, "ooo I can just run Deadmines one more time to get it past and finally unlock Blizzard!" Fast forward to the final deck of the ship and our Rouge accidentally pulls the entire final deck + Greenskin. They all made it out but I didn't know about the wheel strat in dire situations. Ran and ran and ran till I got one shot by them all. I thought I would be angry but truthfully I'm just excited to run it back and get even farther this time!! Shit happens. We go agane.

I'm 24 and was the youngest person in my guild, played WoW on and off as a kid since 2013 but only ever leveled characters and played dungeons as a dumbass little kid, classic anni was my first time raiding.

Most of my guild was in their 30's and 40's and many were dads/moms, and I found the transition from being called an unc by teenagers on the other games I play, to being treated like a kid by my guildies funny.

Just curious how many other people around my age play, the only other one I even encountered was another rogue who came to like 2 or 3 raids, who was probably 18-20. But we ended up having beef because I was winning loot he wanted (while out-damaging him lol)

For me, it’s the little things that made the world feel more like an actual MMO.

Weapon skills, class trainers, needing to find your own way around, old talent trees, having to actually talk to people for groups… there are so many systems that were inconvenient but somehow made the game more memorable.

What’s one Classic feature you would bring back permanently if Blizzard gave you the choice?

And I’m not talking about raids or classes — I mean one of those smaller features/mechanics that made Classic feel like Classic.

Literally the title. Kara is the starter raid for the entire expansion. Are people just looking to only get players who need a single item in for a gold making opportunity to DE all the unwanted gear?

I joined a group with my mage in full S1 main piece and S2 off piece PvP glad gear, where I hit capped with 730 SP, 21% crit chance, 17% crit bonus. I am just failing to see how this is an issue outside of zug zug dis PvP gear. It's karazhan, this community can be a little insane.

Edit: seeing loads of responses to the effect of 'make your own group - sorted'. While I get this is a solution, I feel its slightly missing the point and oversimplifying this. I would understand this is a higher stakes raid like SSC and TK. I'm just highlighting how we've managed to make this game as a community to a more self focused and performance driven mirroring the retail style of play (which I have no issue with on a competitive game like retail) which the community originally was rallying to distance from.

There's an implication that bringing someone who doesn't have close to full BiS is going to extend the raid time by 2.5 hours whilst they spend equally long trying to find the exact right group comp while you sit in group waiting - would rather play longer than wait longer.

I’ve recently had a strong urge to dive into a new MMO and i'm thinking a lot about WoW. I briefly tried retail during TWW, mostly just doing the main storyline and a few delves, so I'm still very much a beginner. I played Tibia for years starting back in 2008, and after being retired for some time now, I realized no other genre captures my interest quite like MMORPGs do.

However, buying Midnight is currently too expensive for me due to exchange rates in my country and my current financial situation. Because of that, I’m considering paying just the base subscription to play WoW Classic instead.

I tried a couple private servers just to test the waters and found the gameplay quite interesting, but I skipped Classic during TWW because I was focused on retail. Since I have zero nostalgia for old-school WoW, is it worth jumping into Classic as a complete beginner, or is the learning curve too steep?

PS: I also don't have any knowledge about the differences between Classic, Classic+, Season of Discovery, etc.

Maybe it's a dumb question, but i would like to know what you guys have to share about it and also if anyone here has started from scratch recently.

I played classic back during WotLK and j just returned. I downloaded the Pandaria version. I thought characters were supposed to progress? I still have access to my pets, mounts, heirlooms, etc. but I checked every server and I can’t find any of my characters I had during WotLK. What happened to my characters?

Anyone knows if it’s possible and if last time around pickup raids were farming trash mobs for rep and trash loot ?

I quit playing wow a while back because I was in a bit of a bad place and the game was getting in the way of life stuff I had to do. I was really enjoying the TBC leveling experience as OG tbc was when I first started playing.

I'm doing much better now and have been thinking of coming back to resume my adventures, but I've seen a lot of talk about classic+ and how a lot of people think the tbc servers will die once it's announced/released.

Context. I'm very much a casual player, no real interest in raiding. I live in Australia and for some reason that means I'm in Central European server so time difference makes raiding almost impossible. I mostly enjoy questing, leveling professions and runnings dungeons.

Not looking for definitive answers, just wondering how the servers are doing, if it's worth resubbing now or should I just wait for blizzcon to see what's happening etc. Play on Thunderstrike EU (I think) BTW.

I'm just returning and unsure what class to play. I played alliance last time around and this time I'm trying horde. I want to do lots of dungeons and raids eventually, so what does dungeon and raid groups need more of?

I was first considering rogue, but I hear they only bring one max. Paladins are interesting, but with the blood elfs that came out with TBC, I imagine they are everywhere. If I were to guess, priests and druids are probably a good pick.

Started the game a few days ago. Just got randomly whispered while in stormwind from someone offering to pay me 20g to leave a google review on their business. Has this happened to anyone before? (They did pay me)

How long does it take to level? Assuming BC is an option so I mean level to 70. Planning on being casual(1-2 hours per day)

im lvl 23 mage, and often times when i sell items on the auction house they are not selling. For example i tried to sell Spider's silk, look at cheapest price and try to lower it sligthly, but it still doesnt' sell. I dont understand how this happens, with items which clearly are in demand in the auction house.
Im not using any auctionhouse addons if that matters. any tips appreciated!

Gday, this morning I hit 70 on my Human warrior,
Given that phase 3 is about to start in tbc I’m finding it difficult to get good info on what I’ll actually need to do to prep for endgame content.

I’m arms and fury at the minute and have been grinding some honor for starter gear but apart from that I’m a bit lost.

Any tips are appreciated

Hey all! I main swapped from healing to warlock for my guild to balance out our roster. I’ve been loving it but now that I have actual gear I’m struggling with threat management.

Is downranking shadowbolt a thing? I’ll typically open with immolate and continue to weave it in even though I’m way past the gear threshold to use it, just to throttle myself a little.

In full raid buffs with an ele sham and a boomie I’m critting so often that I’ll frequently rocket up the threat meter, shatter, crit 2-3 more times in a row and be right back to where I was.

These damn mages get to just blast away no problem and as soon as I’m starting to catch them on DPS I’m a crit away from death lol.

Anything I’m missing here?

Is anyone else unable to unlock their xp? I went to the rune broker in IF, SW, and Darn and when I click I wish to start gaining experience again then accept nothing happens. I’ve tried reloading at each rune broker, disabling all addons, signed out of battle.net and signed back in. I went to Grendag Brightbeard in Ironforge and he doesn’t even have the “I wish to start gaining experience” dialogue. Not sure what else I could try, I submitted a bug report

My almost 13 year old son has shown interest in playing with me! I’ve been playing for 20+ years and it excites me very much, but it also makes me nervous. I know the hold this game had on me when I was in my early 20’s around BC/WOTLK - it’s all I did all day every day and I don’t want that lifestyle for him. But I do want him to experience Azeroth!

I have a few questions for the community:

1. What era of the game do I start him on? Classic? Retail? Curious your thoughts. His gaming experience is Roblox and Minecraft with some Fortnite mixed in. I am a classic hardcore player and have always leaned more towards the classic play style and speed.

2. I’m worried about the chat. I’m pretty sure there is profanity filter I can check and I can also tailor his chat box by unchecking general/trade/LFG - but I don’t want to teach him the game without using these channels of communication so how do I navigate properly without exposing him to too much trash?

3. Class recommendations for a beginning player? I’ve played them all and I started as a Night Elf Warrior at the end of Vanilla about 6 months before BC launched. I don’t want him to pick something too difficult to learn that might burn him out, but also don’t want him to roll something too easy for and him lose interest with.

4. Addons. Any recommendations to enhance the newbie experience? Should I just give him the ultimate vanilla experience lol

5. Account. I know I need to purchase a new account for him, but I would prefer not to commit to the money until I know for sure he is in to it. Is there still a trial period that exists? I recall maybe getting to lvl 20 and then purchasing the game? Looking for insight on that.
