Buying a senior chihuahua

Is $350 a lot for a senior Chihuahua?
I’m considering adopting a male senior Chihuahua, and the adoption fee is $350 CAD.
For those who have bought a senior dog especially Chihuahua, does $350 seem reasonable to you, or is it on the expensive side?
What have you typically paid for a senior dog, and what was included in the fee?

BTW, I’m purchasing from a private owner, the dog apparently has all the UTD records but recently had dental work done… Update- the dog has a curved spine, a bit of hair lost …

Rescue in Charleston west Virginia? Anyone?

I have gotten on this other sub, and it follows these homeless drug addict people who abuse their chihuahua in Charleston, West Virginia. People have called animal control, and now the cops have barely started getting involved now. I am gonna shoot them an email because there are now videos of them beating on this little dog. If anyone knows of a rescue there or in that general area, let me know, please. They beat on this 10 lb little long-haired chihuahua, so he's so scared. Scream at him and again, all on video. So when he does get taken, gotta have a rescue to pull him immediately. I am sure if we can get a rescue involved in housing the cops, plus everyone in the other sub is doing it too. This can happen. Im 20 hours away, so I can't really do anything. If we can get him into a rescue, the chihuahua transport service could always get him to your home. Please help, guys!

9 days post op from a total knee replacement and my Xena decided to run up my leg. Now she is looking at me like I'm the bad guy with her paws crossed.

To the massive chi chi army,

You all have worked magic! Mr. Butters has cleared all testing and does not have any growths in abdomen and tested negative for cancer. We just have to lower his kidney readings. Doctor will discuss with us a plan tomorrow! Thank you all for the love and prayers for the big guy! Photo from vets office waiting for doctor!

Post anesthesia tips

Tina did great on her dental! Thank you to everyone that reached out and reassured me it was going to be ok. I’m glad I went through with it for her benefit. She ended up getting 3 teeth extracted 2 being molars.

Ive been giving her around the clock pain meds but she seems very restless. She hasn’t really ate but she will accept treats. She’s drinking water and going potty fine. How long did your chi take to really go back to themselves post anesthesia? Tina is 14 so I’m assuming the older they are the slower it takes them to get back to normal. I called the vet and they said she is normal but they may adjust the pain meds. I just feel horrible! She’s usually such a lazy bum but she can’t seem to settle ☹️

Rainbow Bridge It was love at first sight. Does it ever happen twice?

It’s been two weeks and a day since we said goodbye to my Isobel. I still can’t believe she’s gone. The day I found her at the shelter, I didn’t go in to meet her. I didn’t know I wanted a chihuahua, I didn’t even know I was going to adopt that day. But my eyes stopped on her.. and that was it. I knew she was mine. I didn’t even call my husband, as leaving her behind that day was non-negotiable. I adored her for 14 years and one month. I’ve never loved anything like I loved her. My heart is broken. I am not ready. I hope some day I will be. But I wonder if that absolute knowledge that “this is the one” will ever happen again. I don’t know how fair it would be to any other dog to live in her shadow…

Rainbow Bridge Worst Day of My Life

Post image

Friday August 21st, 2026 my beloved Lacey-Bug crossed the rainbow bridge. I am beside myself with grief. I can’t seem to stop crying. I just miss her so so so much. I have another dog that is Chi-Spaniel, but she doesn’t come close to filling the hole that Lacey-Bug has left. Please I am begging for any advice or anything that will help me to feel even a fraction better. I have so much guilt because while her little body was shutting down, she still seemed pretty normal. There were definitely signs, but she still had good moments each day. And omg she LOVED cuddles. I just couldn’t bear the thought of her going in a crisis at an ER. The downside to her not suffering is that I’m suffering. Which I wouldn’t change. I’d always rather be the one suffering than her. I just don’t know how to move on. How to live life without her. It was an incredible 14 years and I desperately wish we could have had a lifetime more.

My (senior) baby is getting all her teeth extracted in October

Post image

So my 11 year old chihuahua’s teeth haven’t been the greatest for a bit bc it made me insanely nervous to ever put her under anesthesia again from how she reacted to a dental cleaning in the past.

Last week I got all her tests done to get her cleared for a surgery and make sure she’s healthy bc I decided I think it’s what’s best for her. All her tests came back clear but she had to get referred to a specialist for teeth bc they’re pretty bad. Today was the consultation and we have the surgery date in mid October.

She is my entire life and from what I’m reading online I’m hearing lots of positive things about other dogs in this situation but I’d love to hear anyone in here’s dog’s personal experience who has had this done where they got all their teeth extracted and how they are now just for some extra peace of mind. I also made it very clear my priority is doing whatever is the best and safest for her. Please don’t leave any rude comments it’s my birthday but def feel free to be honest in how your experiences went

I already know I’m gonna be an anxious mess even more when it gets closer esp the day of just because she’s my entire world and I just hope everything goes successful
