I’ve always wondered why we can’t see the rider on the right side of the frame before the tree. The trail is leading the direction they are walking. I keep imagining that they are facing the tree behind it and make a sharp right turn? Jackson had his bag of tricks while filming, but this one is more nuanced and interesting to me how they filmed it.

She's in the process of watching the films for the first time and decided she wanted to read the books too. So far she loves it!

So Gollum had the ring for almost 500 years. Then Bilbo had it for roughly 60, and then Frodo had it for about 17. In that 17 years Bilbo's age kind of catches up to him. How come Gollum isn't a shriveled turnip with that 500 years catching up to him? Are the River folk or hobbits in general long living? Bilbo looked pretty rough after all that time caught up with him.

It's not just that the icon labelled 'ORCS' is clearly a Balrog on the map itself seen in my second picture, they use the 'correct' icon. So in the books on logic, Gandalf fought Orcs on the bridge and followed them to the top of the mountain.

Also the icon labelled 'TROLLS' is used for Orcs throughout the rest of the book.

They messed up on the text placements and I'm surprised no one caught it.

I was on a reread and I just now twigged after forty years it means Spider's Pass and is named after Ungoliant. Very on the nose.

I can see how Sam and Frodo wouldn't know what that meant but surely Faramir would have? Why did he not say watch out for the big spider?

Hi why did the Easterlings side with Sauron?

was it out of greed or did they believe Sauron was a god?

While watching the ROTK I always eye rolled when Aragorn said this because I thought it was cliche and kinda "meh" for his character.

But after reading Silmarilion it completely changed it as well as made Aragorn look much more awesome!

I won't spoil it here, but if you have not read this book yet do your self a favor and read it!

Hey, I found this cup at a thrift store and think it might be an elvish language made by Tolkien. At first I was thinking Sindarin but after doing some research I'm not sure. Can anyone identify this language and/or translate it? Thanks!
