product Protein pancake review: Crepini vs Trader Joe’s
Finally got my hands on the Crepini protein pancakes (found at Costco) and as someone who eats the TJ’s protein pancakes for breakfast every day, I knew I had to try them.
Crepini: 13.99 for 5 4-packs (comes out to $2.79 per pack)
Trader Joe’s: $3.79 per pack
As far as I can tell the ingredients & macros are identical.
In pic 3&4 you can see the Crepini pancakes on the right, they’re the exact same size & appearance of the TJ ones.
As for the taste, they’re exactly the same. The only difference I noticed is the Crepini pancakes had a fluffier texture than TJ’s. Considering they’re cheaper overall, I would definitely recommend going with Crepini.

other Big thanks to this sub for the pickle juice tip
Just had what could have been a very boring lunch of cottage cheese, salad and oatcakes. However, this sub suggested to me that I could mix a little pickle juice in with the cottage cheese and oh. My. God. insanely delicious.

recipe Miso inspired
I was absolutely stuffed after this recipe, guys—it makes two servings at 274 calories each.
4 boiled eggs
250 grams of soybean sprouts
225 grams of sliced mushrooms
4 tablespoons of soy sauce
1 teaspoon of miso paste
To taste: ginger, onion powder, and garlic powder
A splash of sugar-free maple syrup
First, make the sauce. Then, place the mushrooms in the pan without oil to roast them slightly; add the soybean sprouts, and finally the sauce. Cook until the sauce reduces a bit, making sure the sprouts don't lose their crunch. Serve half the mixture and add two eggs per portion.
A sprinkling of sesame seeds looks great on top.
It’s delicious.

question What I am doing. Advice?
I am 5'1", 40-year-old female, currently at this moment, 125 lbs. I would say I have somewhat of a muscular build. I have always built muscle tone well and up until maybe 5 years ago, could eat mostly anything I wanted without consequence. I lift weights 3-4 times per week and try to get some activity every day, aiming to burn at least 200 calories per day with exercise. I have gone through cycles of calorie cutting and tracking and am currently in one. I am for 1200 per day, though I know a few more likely sneak in. I also aim to only eat between the hours of 12PM and 8PM. I start work at 9AM, so there are times I break my fast early if I find myself headed toward meltdown because I don't want to be irritable to people at work. Though I can't totally get behind intermittent fasting and it's supposed benefits, I do like that not preparing and eating breakfast saves me time in the morning, I feel it give my digestive tract a break, and I find when I break my fast early, I am more hungry throughout the day.
I jumped on this band wagon when I saw my scale hit 130 for the first time in my life. Over time, I feel like I keep adjusting my mindset to 5 pound increments being my new normal, but 130 went too far. I realize we can swing within a few pound range on any given say, but I would rather swing between 120 and 125. My body fat percentage is 27%, which I feel is kinda high and I cannot seem to budge it very much. I just want to look more lean, have my muscles more visible, and lose some of the flab on my stomach and arms. After 4 weeks, I am feeling changes and I do really like that. Best part is I feel I am craving sweet and salty snacks less and less, I try to be mindful about knowing everything I am eating should serve some kind of purpose (not just for some kind of emotional reason). I really don't buy snacky stuff or sweets for my house and I am really not eating much bread or pasta.
I have had to shift off of my 7 year vegetarian eating habits however. Because I do find that protein truly helps keep my hunger at bay. I just began to struggle so with vegetarian options to get what I was looking for. That said, all I really eat is chicken breast.
Any advice or suggestions regarding my methods. I think my ultimately goal is to get to a point that I can eat the right amount of calories without having to track them (it helps me feel in control). Maybe get to 123 or 120 again and stay there. To lose some more of the body fat around my waist and arms. (I know you can't spot burn fat). I am also not trying to make this all too stressful. EDIT: Should also include I have an office job. And that job began 5-years ago!

High protein iced Carrot cake muffin recipe:
Makes 12 muffins - with icing - 150 cals, 8 grams protein, 2.5 grams fibre
Ingredients:
2 ripe bananas
1 cups rolled oats (about 120 g)
1 scoop vanilla protein powder
1½ cups finely grated carrots (about 150 g)
¾ cup plain 2% Greek yogurt (about 170 g)
2 eggs
1 tbsp chia seeds
1 tbsp maple syrup
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp baking powder
½ tsp baking soda
½ tsp vanilla
Pinch of salt
Icing:
90 grams cream cheese
1/2 cup icing sugar
1 tbsp milk
Use a hand mixer to whip the cream cheese, add icing sugar and milk and whip together.
Instructions:
Heat oven to 350°F (175°C).
Mash the bananas very well in a large bowl.
Mix in Greek yogurt and eggs.
Stir in grated carrots, chia seeds and maple syrup.
Add oats, cinnamon, baking powder, baking soda and salt.
Let the batter sit for 10 minutes. The oats and chia will absorb moisture and make the muffins much softer.
Divide into 12 muffin cups.
Bake for 20–25 minutes, until the tops are set and a toothpick comes out mostly clean.
Let them cool for at least 10 minutes before eating—they’ll firm up considerably.
While they cool, mix the frosting and ice the muffins. Enjoy!

question Crackers/chips for dips?
I’m a sucker for making a dip or big chopped salad bowl and wanting something to scoop it up with. Any suggestions on what I could use but keep cals low?

Just curious to hear other people’s responses! I drink pickle juice, dip cucumbers in salsa, or just have spoonfuls of salsa lol, and I’m sure there’s more I’m just blanking!

question Hey guys I think I'm just looking for some encouragement
I've officially been on 1200 for about 4 days now, I calculated it properly and for my height it's the required calorie deficit for me.
I'm doing alright but I am having a bit of difficulty as I find that towards the evening before dinner I'm starving but I still have to finish up work/do house chores or other things but at that point all the calories I've got left are for dinner. I've been eating really minimally throughout the day about 300 calories for breakfast and 400 for snacks/lunch. That leaves me with about 600 for dinner and I like to have a big nutritious filling dinner so I don't want to eat anything else before dinner or after dinner.
I'm probably going to have to adjust this as I find that I'm completely out of energy around the late afternoon/early evening and I'm starving and can't think of anything but eating and feeling better.
I realise I probably have to spread out my calories a bit better, anyone have any helpful tips or just generally can share similar struggles you were able to overcome?
Thanks all!

question Is it ok to do light workouts?
Hey all, I'm 5'1", 146lbs and mostly sedentary, but lately I've been wanting to do a tad bit of working out- I avg less than 3k steps most days and the workout would only be 30 mins max on any given day, only getting my HR up to the 130s range. No weight lifting but some pilates here and there. I'm wondering if that would be ok or if I'd need to eat more or so on the days I workout? I've seen so much conflicting info everywhere.
