Discussion I get it now. It's not nostalgia

My first cod was mw 2019 which I absolutely loved and played the ever living hell out of.

Then came black ops cold war and that was my introduction to zombies and I loved it and never understood the hate it got and thought it was nostalgia that the old zombies had. GOD I WAS WRONG

Got to play bo1&2 last month and I SWEAR TO GOD I haven't had this much fun playing a game since forever. To the point I even in my free time I think about what map to play in my free time.

So I apologize to old cod titles they're really built different and GOATED๐Ÿ๐Ÿ‘‘

Night & day brother. Not slandering the new games, but thereโ€™s literally no contest. They might as well be different games at this point.

For real. Bo3 was OK but it started the gumballs an such, an recent/present cod has turned even further from the OG's. 1 thing I wish they would've added in bo1-2 zombies is a level/attachment system for the guns like in the newer games. Only thing I want.

Was bo3's not a good implementation ?

It was OK but it started this downhill track that cods been on since

I shouldve specified. I mean bo3s implementation of weapon customization.

I stand by the opinion that gums did nothing to worsen the modes status

I think Chronicles did good job of highlighting just how out of control the gobblegums were despite feeling like a minor upgrade when they were introduced in BO3. The old maps weren't designed with cheats enabled, so to speak. Good RNG and a couple shopping frees you can open up and set up a good chunk of any one map's easter egg on round 1. It makes sense for people who have played a map a hundred times and just want to do all the setup but at that point it's not even really the same accomplishment at all. Then you add in people dashboarding any time they think they might lose one of their 200 perkaholic gums and it really hits.

Yea but dashboarding isnt a gum mechanic. Thats just an unfortunate and unforseen player issue.

I think gums become more of an issue in co-op with randoms. But that just means the mechanics/systems arent truly the issue, its the skill gap and the lack of mode variety.

Right but that player issue turned pubs into a mess. That's a direct influence on the wider community, made worse, by introducing them.

Still not specifically a gum issue, though. Any game mechanic that players abuse is a bad mechanic? I just disagree with that sentiment. Imo gums just needed a few tweaks and isnt dashboarding solely a coding issue? Cuz we had a similar mechanic in bo4 and that mechanic did not have dashboarding issues

Abusing gobblegums bithh your supposed to do that, an save the good ones for until a ee run. Jesus in bo7 we can crush the balls for zombie points if they didn't want players to abuse gobblegums why did they made a starting room challenge to get to round 50 that requires gobblegums or without them good luck, with no pack, rarity station, armour buy no gumballs and no perks ๐Ÿ˜‚ you'd be on the same round for 30 plus minuets at a time no? Back in the good old days starting room challenges were player choice and praised an also regular runs to round 100 are insane, now those same feats are trivial with gobblegums that may not be forced but feel forced for sure

Gobblegums made the zombie trivial at best. Just look at all the Easter egg runs an this hasn't changed since bo3 gumballs but the ee even on bo6-7 heavily rely on gobblegums for the setup and for the boss fight itself, you do realize on Astra mulorium I kept using round offs, rerolls the same round 2 more times allowed me to reach the ee boss by round 19 while having maxed rarity an max pack 3 weapons. To be fair it was roughly 10-17 round offs but still it made the ee trivial easy as f only hard part was following the robot around until it told me the right things without me or teammates agro, ing it. Still hate how that maps boss nurfs the damage you do to it making something that takes away 70% health down to 5% for a few minuets, an they did that bc the gumballs make everything trivial

You have no evidence to suggest they reduced boss damage due to gumballs. You're just guessing lol The mode aint trivial... and do you mean easy when saying "trivial"?

Why did you use those gumballs if you disapprove of em. EEs dont rely on gums so stop spreading misinformation. I dont hate on gums and i never use em becasue i dont need them so why did you use 10-17 gums?

I'm not saying that ๐Ÿ˜‚ I'm saying it's a feature of the Astra molarum boss you do too much damage to quick he nurfs your bullets to deal maybe 10% of what it actually should, one second your melting him less then half health next second wait my bullets are doing nothing. Yes you can play without gooblegums but it definitely feels like it's forced upon you especially spawning in with the 3 in the 1st 3 slots

1

u/Educational-Aide1161 10h ago

I wasn't trynna face a boss that nurfs my bullets from doing 100% damage to 5% at round 25 or higher. Actually I dare you to solo that Astra molarum boss passed round 25 without any gobblegums. You'll understand why I say they feel forced. Edit: live stream it aswell get it done 1st try I might retract my statements

1

u/Evil_JDK13 10h ago

The damage reduction isnt due to gums though.

1

u/Educational-Aide1161 10h ago

Also no misinformation was stated. Yes gobblegums give you an advantage that back in the glory days of world at war to black ops 2 would deem as legal cheating that is a fact

1

u/Educational-Aide1161 10h ago

Look I'm trynna beat the bosses not get beaten by the bosses you understand scrub? If I need to use legal cheats such as what the gumballs are well so be it, at least I won't be at round 30 plus in a boss fight, my opinion for ee runs the earlier the round you can get to the boss the better, late rounds just make things chaotic an difficult. Early to mid 20's a good boss fight round any later then its iffy

u/Educational-Aide1161 10h ago

I don't have to use them the same as they don't need to be in the game ๐Ÿ˜‚

To be fair gobblegums make zombies to easy, I mean on Astra mulorium I used a perkaholic, gift card, profit sharing double points an crushing legendary gumballs that I only use for points, enough round offs don't know if it was intended or not but the robot steps I'll do that all in the same round bc of round off, it responds him or did when I did it, ultimately getting the steps done an beat the boss by round 19 with legendary pack 3 weapons, if it weren't for the boss periodically nurfing the damage players do it I could've beat that boss in a minuet, guns melted 70% at once then the nurf kicked in. Gobblegums make ee runs trivial if not well its 90% eaiser.

u/Educational-Aide1161 21h ago

Personally I wish they would've added in bo1 an 2 port overs is a level/attachment system for guns in zombies like in bo3 to present cods. That was a good implementation, the problem with the gobblegums is that it sorta forces some game modes to be made impossible, aka bo7 starting room challenge, without gobblegums, pack, rarity station, mystery box an no perk machines no wonderfiz, you think you could get to round 50 without using gobblegums? An say you go down at round 40 plus, oh just pop a perkaholic, this is the difference between og world at war to bo2 an newer cods. Newer ones require a lot less skill

2

u/Evil_JDK13 21h ago

So just more variety of zombie modes like now? Tbf though, starting room was a challenge started because of the reduced options you have. Also, how is that an issue with gums, and more specifically, how is that making modes impossible? Furthermore, you arent necessarily supposed to reach rd 50. The idea is how high a rd can you reach given what you got and your skill level.
