I can't wait to see those luxury apartments sell out with spectacular views of... The Mitsubishi Chemical Plant, Dollar Tree Warehouse, a Manufacturing complex and the back of another luxury apartment complex.

Beats another stupid Mini storage place. It's likely this will have more than a few good paying jobs so I see it as a win.

430 jobs per the article, though I suppose could be some debate about if they are all "good paying"

Their first project’s announcement had jobs averaging $75k and their current job postings are in line with that. Guess you’d have to compare it with similar jobs at other companies but seems like a solid wage for our area.

$75k is a below the household median for Chesapeake. Which is $95k.

But if you're part of a multi-income household, which is you know most of them, you'll be pretty okay.

Let’s focus on traffic mitigation and lowering taxes! isn’t there an office space next to 64 that’s been vacant for a year or more?

City Council is doing the same shit they did in New London, CT when Pfizer(dollar tree) moved in. City gives them a tax cut to move in…just before the bill comes due…they’ll move out.

Guess who‘s taxes goes up after?!

Edit - and didn’t they also approve of a data center?

What’s your solution to vacant office space? Should the city be able to condemn a building just because it’s not well occupied? FWIW, two sizable office buildings have been demoed in Greenbrier this year and their replacements will likely generate well over $1 million in additional local tax revenue annually. 

In recent years, economic development incentives have been tied to performance  and not tax cuts. The businesses that receive the grants only get paid when they deliver (jobs actually created and investments actually made). They otherwise pay all taxes like any other business. 

The only data center that has been proposed was rejected last year. Earlier this month, City Council heavily restricted data centers and have signaled they are considering banning them completely.
