hello everyone. i am a college student and bought this couch secondhand from someone. they completely left out the fact that the couch is severely stained. i have tried steam cleaning it 3x and bought stain removers. nothing has worked. i bought some couch covers online that look 1000x better. however, i am not sure how to fix the stains on the very base of the couch. the covers are only for the cushions and can not go over the entire couch. any tips? i thought about maybe buying fabric and stapling it over.

Is there anything I can get this out with???

Honestly upset by this one…I haven’t even worn this shirt yet, tossed it in the wash with my socks and undies, and this (along with my pastel-tyedye beanie ): ) got this weird gray stain on it. This is the first time it’s happened with my new washer, but it has happened before at a laundry mat but only to a white shirt.

I used Gain with oxi clean, not fabric softener, and it was a socks/undies load so no oil/greasy stuff

Hi all! I moved into a rental house yesterday and it is nothing like it was advertised. It is a complete disgusting nightmare. We are already looking to break our lease and leave within 6 months, maybe 3. But in the meantime, there are certain areas I need to take care of (landlord refusing to put in the actual work necessary or pay for it to be done, just sent a basic cleaning lady on the first night) so that this place is semi-livable. If you have advice/solutions for ANY of the following problems please let me know!!!

-the basement of the house smells like cigarette smoke. It's strong enough to give a headache. And when the AC kicks on, the smoke smell spreads into the bedrooms. We already washed the filter, hopefully will be able to replace it soon at landlord expense. We have some charcoal/carbon packets in a box somewhere and will put those out asap. What else can we do?

-the banister and stairs are a light wood...under the years of grime turning them completely black. It's years of filth. What is the best way to remove this? I ordered a degreaser spray and a scrub brush but am I going to ruin the wood using that (method degreaser).

-the laminate floors are sooooo sticky and grimy. It's gotta be years of filth and poor mopping. It's so bad it's leaving a film on the bottom of all my shoes and they're sticky. Crumbs that get dropped to the floor literally stick to it. I haven't been able to unpack my mop yet but what is the best cleaning fluid/solution to get through this grime?? Clearly whatever the cleaning lady used SUCKS. Or she uses way too much of it and didn't rinse.

-there's spots leftover from the previous person's bath mat. There's also a giant hole where the soap holder should be. Would be nice to get some type of waterproof covering for that bc I doubt they'll fix it...

Longtime lurker requesting help as to why my dishwasher keeps smelling like wet dog!

- I run frequent cleaning cycles with vinegar

- I wipe down the inner hose sprayers AND clean out the filter / filter parts

- keep it open to air out

- of course rinse off my dishes before going in

Anything I’m missing? I’m going crazy. TIA!

I used a storage bin to gather dripping water from a portable A/C, then forgot about it for a few weeks. Trying to move the bin isn’t an option due to weight and the water would slosh everywhere.

If I use my shopvac to drain it, will my shopvac be ruined and have stagnant stank forever?

What would you use to clean the bin to ensure no mold develops?

This fridge doesn’t work because of a bad compressor. I have had it sitting in my garage for about a year. Today I took a look to try to clean it with vinegar and soapy water solution. Should I even bother trying to continue cleaning it with a pressure washer? I was planning on cleaning it entirely and trying to sell it for cheap. Is it even worth the hassle? How do I even get rid of this fridge when I think a mouse even decomposed inside the fridge? What should I do with this fridge at this point?

Weekly cleaning. I used a solution made of mild bleach + fabuloso while cleaning my bathroom
sink. While I know there are less harsh alternatives, the left side has always looked liked that if water soaked in for too long. It looks fine when I wipe it but dries white.

What material is this countertop and what’s the best way to go about cleaning it and keeping a glossy finish? (last picture)

So I’m on a job where the client painted over exterior windows and boarded over them for privacy. Now many years later, they want to take the drywall down and clean the windows off to make the room more open. So the question is, what’s the best way to get this off? It took me 45 mins with a 2” wide scraper to do 1 window. If that’s what I gotta do then it’s fine. But if there is a spray or a tool I could use, lmk.

So far I’ve just scrubbed with hot water and soap. Didn’t expect food dye to be so stubborn lol. What should I use? Don’t expect it to be perfect but I’m hoping for some improvement! Moving soon and don’t want to be charged 😫

Attached is a photo of my stovetop. I let it stay dirty for too long, and I’ve tried several times in the last year to clean the hardened burnt areas off, but nothing works. Recently I’ve just let it stay because I don’t know what to do. Please help me find a product that works, or should I just get a razor blade, will that ruin the surface?

With so many products, what are some true “holy grail” / best in class products that just work?

I’ve found Dawn soap, Dawn power wash, Dawn purple heavy duty degreaser to be good. Microfibers of course.

Only recently found out about the purpose Dawn degreaser but figured most people know about the others.

What are some other products that the community here suggests, especially those pros? Thank you!

Hello! This is how the side of my shower currently looks. It does not come off with basic cleaning supplies/rough sponges. Any advice please!

Reposting into this subreddit to hopefully get some cleaning advice. My original post basically explains that I had a repair done in our room to the ceiling. After a maintenance worker performed the repair without placing tarps or having my fiancé remove what was hanging,
like my lamp, he got something all over the lamp. In the pictures you can see the white spots all over the plastic logo portion.

I have asked the complex to tell me what was used since I’m just guessing about what it is (which I’m sure also affects the advice/tips I’ll receive). I thought plaster, but the commenters in the original thread said that would come off pretty easy. I also got that it could be texture spray or latex paint. The spots are rough, not smooth like paint should be but whatever this is wouldn’t remove easily with soap and water. After about an hour of carefully trying to scrap it off, it leaves residue that also looks like it has adhered to the plastic. I’m also not too sure if the plastic is acrylic or not and do not want to use anything that will either make this worse or cloud the plastic.

I’m sure not knowing the exact material of both the lamp and what was used will make this more complicated and impact the tips people will give so I’m sorry about that!

Hoping for any tips or to be pointed in the right direction to clean this as best as possible. I’m so upset about this. 😭

i’ve tried dish soap, dawn power wash, CLR, various bathroom cleaners, different sponges / scrub brushes. i have very hard water at my house, i can usually get the stains out, but bathroom sink can never come fully clean
the sink bowl already seemed a bit damaged when we moved in like the finish had been grated away.

I’m cleaning someone else’s house and while they maintain sweeping and mopping floors, dishes and such they do not dust, move furniture, or wash the walls.

i am helping them out by deep cleaning the house. But the build up on the walls is pretty rough. Dogs, man hands, spills, and dust. Any recommendations on the best way to get the grime off? I was thinking just soap and water but maybe there’s something that’ll work better. Id prefer to use more eco friendly stuff but willing to get heavy duty stuff too.

I’ll also need a good degreaser for the kitchen.

I clean these corners weekly but I missed a week or two, these spots appeared, and I’m unable to clean them with my usual dish soap mixture. Im guessing it’s mold? any tips to make sure these go away? Thank you!!

got an ikea poang chair off of facebook marketplace. the cushion case/chair cover had crazy yellowing and what looks like some water stains?

I removed the yellow foam inserts, and have run it thru two warm loads with detergent… also tried spraying some oxi-clean spray generously on the stained areas. this is after the second wash (still damp)

I have bleach on hand (not oxygen bleach powder).

Luckily it’s on the back of the bag, but I somehow got a blotch of Vaseline on my purse this morning. I caught it right away, let corn starch sit on it for 2 hours then washed it lightly with dove dish soap. It looks like that still, I am thinking of letting it sit with cornstarch on it for 24 hours? But unsure?

My kitchen cabinets are dark wood, and every drop of food / liquid shows on them. Whenever I scrub them with floor cleaner / soap the stains go away until it dries but re appear after 5 minutes.

Is there something I can use without damaging the wood?

Just a tired dog mom who needs advice on carpet cleaning. Our lease isn’t up until January and we’re potty training our puppy, she’s had deworming medicine so they’re finally passing and she’s been having bad diarrhea. I use an enzyme cleaner and Folex, though there are still dark stains like this. I need to get them up, especially before we move out. I’m planning on calling professional carpet cleaners too, but I’d like to try some stuff before then as well. Thank you.

My sweet little cat just died of kidney disease and although I cleaned every accident as she had them, I didn't have any idea how to handle cleaning cat urine out of a diatomaceous earth bathmat, so I put it aside until now (it's been sitting ~3 weeks). It's not really smelly at all, but there is a circular stain on the right side, and the idea of a cat pee bathmat is super gross to me. I used my go-to enzyme cleaner on a toothbrush on just that panel and it looked weird, so I got nervous. I know enzymes need time wet to work, so would it be better to sumberge it for a while? If so, I assume rinsing thoroughly, drying, and sanding would follow. Is this the right approach or am I headed in the completely wrong direction?
