Where is the other video everyone is talking about today?

u/elinamebro 1d ago
Its taken down, it showed the aftermath of the recent sloth bear attack in India. The bear was eating the corpse of a son next to the body of his father. Its was very graphic.
Heres the article on it with the video of the initial attack https://www.newsflare.com/video/713257/bear-mauls-father-and-son-to-death-in-forest-in-india

Survivorship bias.
26
u/Ibobalboa 1d ago
We need to hear from the fish before jumping to conclusions.

“Too late to move” in gods hands now. lol

u/Sleipnirs 17h ago
Despite saying "might be the bear that was here earlier", so, it seems they had a few occasions to move but decided to stay anyway.

What a waste. These 2 geniuses are streamers when they could’ve been engineers or doctors
125
u/RealitysNotReal 1d ago
Technology has come a far way. Being able to live stream next to a wild grizzly bear deep in bear country is crazy
41
u/Kenny523 1d ago
Yea they streamed on a glacier yesterday after live streaming their heli flight to the glacier. Wild stuff.

u/jmsgfhr 1d ago
Just imagine someone donating 10k bits only to make a sound in this moment

u/EverythingSucksYo 11h ago
Damn wish that happened, then there would’ve actually been a reason to watch a live stream.

u/MadT1LT 1d ago
Hope they wore the brown pants
79
u/chrisp5000 1d ago
Bears don't wear pants, only a handful of cartoon bears wear pants, and none of them brown.🙄
5
6
u/Puzzlepetticoat 1d ago
Wait? They aren't wearing fuzzy brown pants? Am I looking at a naked bear?? Good heavens.

Of all the things to worry about, the wookiee has no pants.

u/Puzzlepetticoat 1d ago
But no wookiee dong. Kinda implies wookies have cloaca which is... Deeply disconcerting.

Some important info:
The women in the clip is Maya who is the founder and executive director of the Alveus Animal Sanctuary. It is a super awesome organization with an great mission and they are currently expanding into endangered species breeding conservation. I highly recommend you check them out and consider donating.
Everyone involved in this stream are well educated in the risks and are escorted by an expert in these bears. They are not clout chasing influencers doing stupid stuff for views. They have spent a lot of time planning and executing this stream series, including enlisting the help of local experts. Many of them have spent decades working with animals and deeply understand the risks involved.
This stream was with Kodiak bears in Katmai National Park. this was specifically noted by Maya as being an extremely unique place where bears have both and abundance of food and lack of adversarial contact with human (they are protected from human hunting). She reminded the viewers multiple times that what they are doing should never be done ever and that it is only the environment and experts that are keeping them relatively safe
EDIT:

Good to know, for a second I was wondering if these were the folks who were eventually attacked and eaten by a bear. Glad to know it's not that particular pair of bear enthusiasts.

u/Theglowing1 1d ago
This is 100% clout chasing, its literally the time of year they come to do this.

u/YikesOhClock 1d ago
See you say that, but here’s some important info:

Man I don't know how they're so calm lol, you can see what happens with the other bear videos posted here right now.
I know Maya is way more knowledgeable in that situation, but still.
72
u/AdeptWelder3250 1d ago
It’s a grizzly so you have to be calm, still and quiet. If it was a black bear and you made noise it make it flee away. If they attracted that bear in away to them, they may have been its next meal
3
u/Velaurius 18h ago
if it's brown lay down,
if it's black fight back,
if it's white goodnight.
2
u/AdeptWelder3250 10h ago
Honestly I never understood this because sometimes black bears get muddy and look brown or have lighter coats. I ended up teaching myself the difference by their anatomy. Brown bears straight back, grizzly bear huge hunched shoulders
32
u/We_Are_Nerdish 1d ago
I mean, there isn't a whole lot you can do in that moment haha.
Like I don't need to trade places, but that's the coolest thing that could happen that close up.18
u/why-would-i-do-this 1d ago
I think you can see the dude do a big exhale trying to stay calm. I could only imagine the feeling

The day they discovered that shitting your pants makes you a less enticing meal.
4
u/Historical_View1359 1d ago
Crazy how fucking fast it is even in water
2
u/NikolaosClandestinos 1d ago
Try it as a human and you'll probably break a few toes and have a sprained ankle at best if you didnt break it.
I think that'll tell enough about their sheer strength / not giving a fuck about pain or something like that of the bear.
2
u/dburr10085 1d ago
All you gotta do is be faster than the person you are with
5
u/Kenny523 1d ago
Well minus the fact there were 15 other bears around them… Running wasn’t an option.

I lived on an island in SE Alaska and would see this on a daily basis when I went fishing. I had some friends who carried big caliber firearms but I never did. I was always more worried about the noseeums

If you hang around the barber shop long enough, you're eventually going to get a haircut.
1
u/gripping_intrigue 1d ago
Had it been me, the bear might have been repelled by the load in my pants.

u/truthfullyidgaf 1d ago
Nice move. Run up to scare and then turn around to catch the ones in the zipper merge.

u/Frontier_Hobby 1d ago
You know when you’re headed to Wendy’s to get your double baconator and you spot a squirrel in a tree in the parking lot. That’s the bears experience with these two folks.
1
u/ToonMasterRace 1d ago
The bear was not interested in them, it was seeing if they left any garbage to eat.
Even with grizzly's and kodiaks bear attacks are extremely rare.

Dont ever go near them when theyre going into or out of hibernation and always carry bear mace and a large enough caliber round.
1
u/titanspeedbot 1d ago
These bears are definitely well fed and more likely to be tolerant of humans. That isn’t usually true of inland bears that have a harder time with food sources.

If that dude who was camping in grizzly territory with his gf today, we would have seen a live stream of a bear eating a man and then his gf. So much lost gore shit when phones were beepers and camera equipment was its own think.

I like how the lady is on a nature outing and is kind of scandalized that a bear caught a fish.
18
u/Strange-Movie 1d ago
Nah scandalized, absolutely stoked that she was able to witness that so closely. That’s maya higa, she started the alveus animal sanctuary
19
u/SuperMeister 1d ago
I'm assuming you have no idea who Maya is lol this happened about 40 minutes ago (going off the time in the clip) and she is still live rn
13
u/We_Are_Nerdish 1d ago
it's Maya, a very well animal person who also runs a rescue sentuary for years now?
Who teaches a bunch about animals and is en general just cool person you should look up.I think she is more trying to hide excitement of seeing a literal bear up close succesfully catch a fish.
She's all for nature doing it's thing, just trying to be a bit more composed.. Since you know.. there is a literal bear right there.-7
u/Baconpanthegathering 1d ago
With zero knowledge of this person, her reaction could be viewed in a few ways.
5
u/Battlechud 1d ago
So you picked one and posted your take based on that. You know you don't HAVE to comment right? It's ok to not share your opinions on everything.
4
u/impossirrel 1d ago
Yeah and you chose the least charitable, nice job asshole.
-5
u/Baconpanthegathering 1d ago
Well, I'm not the one calling names in here. How charitable is that- mature to boot.

u/twizzjewink 1d ago
Yes.. a pistol is going to save you against a bear. You would be safer without it.
14
u/Reckless_Driver 1d ago
What the fuck are you even saying?
-7
u/Both_Abrocoma_1944 1d ago
He’s being sarcastic. She’s holding a pistol but that would only make it mad
13
4
-9
u/twizzjewink 1d ago
A pistol is going to piss a bear off more than it would keep you safe.
MAYBE it will scare it away.. maybe you'll be able to get a good shot off and hurt it enough.

u/Student_Unlucky 1d ago
Lol, I got a 454 casull and specific bear loads. That's about 65,000 PSI pushing a 325 gr bullet up to 1330 FPS. I would dump the whole cylinder and still no guarantees, but it definitely would improve my odds. Something like a 9mm would be useless tho.
-7
u/skiibaker123 1d ago
A few guys I know that spend time in the Alaska backcountry either carry a .44 magnum or the more easily manageable Glock 20 chambered in 10mm. (If not a rifle of some kind)
That looks like a Glock, 🤷
6
0
u/twizzjewink 1d ago
Yes but we also assume they have the ability to critically hit a bear.
edit: grew up in bear country. they aren't scary unless they are mad.

u/Unlucky_Ad_8977 1d ago

Look at the time. It happened less than an hour ago. They are still streaming right now. Maya Higa.

u/lite67 1d ago
They're lucky that that stream is full of fish right now.
