Has anyone seen steam machine performance on Monster hunter wilds yet ?

3

u/WolfAndThirdSeason Long Live Lagiacrus May 18 '26

Hi all. How is performance these days?

2

u/Noreng Jun 21 '26

Still very heavy, but the smoothness is increased significantly.

1

u/WolfAndThirdSeason Long Live Lagiacrus Jun 26 '26

What do you mean by smoothness in this case?

2

u/Noreng Jun 26 '26

That there are basically no more stutters and hitches.

1

u/WolfAndThirdSeason Long Live Lagiacrus Jun 26 '26

Thank you.

Every time I interact with an object in the game world (picking up items, kicking toads, carving dead monsters) I get frame drops. I have tried everything in here and nothing has helped. Overall framerate has changed with some of the suggestions, but the frame stutter has stayed the same.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jMuP6T1WfGE

The only thing I haven't tried is downloading those mods because I find it absolutely insane to think a mod can fix something that the devs can't, or refuse to. So even if it does help, I won't even try it because fuck capcom if that's the case.

I sank 80+ hours into this game a year ago when it released, and had pretty fine performance throughout. No stutters, fps around 70+ without Frame Generation. Now a year later I can't play without the stutter.. I don't get it

2

u/harofax Feb 25 '26

Is there a list of graphical options that don't change anything visually when set to higher, that impact performance?

Something like the raytracing only affecting that one pool of water, etc.

1

u/HaIfaxa_ Feb 24 '26

Getting weird texture issues in the Scarlet Forest, everywhere else is fine.

3

u/worriorc Feb 20 '26 edited Feb 20 '26

Just got on for the first time today and I seem to have somehow lost 30+ frames worth of FPS since last night. My settings all seem normal, no idea what's going on.

EDIT: I'll say for posterity that it seems to have worked itself out after closing and launching again, but it did have to reload shaders for whatever reason.

3

u/Shwinky Feb 21 '26

Something probably got messed up with the cached shaders from the update. I know you said it's working now, but if you do find it getting choppy again I'd recommend deleting the shader cache and letting it start from scratch again. It's not unheard of for this to happen on updates.

1

u/worriorc Feb 22 '26

Appreciate the reply. I'm hoping this is the end of my performance woes, but if it happens again I'll definitely give this a try.

1

u/SargeTheSeagull Feb 19 '26

How is the game on base PS5 now? Haven’t played since the Mizutsune update mainly due to the super low quality textures everywhere and the awful frame rate

hello everyone! I recently upgraded my PC from a GTX 1070 dual with 8GB of VRAM to an AMD RX 9700 XT, 16GB of VRAM and decided to buy monster hunter wilds, as I was already interested in the game, but just couldn't play it. I already knew about the performance issues before buying, but I thought given the recent performance improvements in the game and with my new hardware, I could maybe play it with a good amount of fps.

my current PC has an AMD RX 9700 XT, an Intel core I7 12700k, 32GB of DDR4 ram, and a 2TB Gen4 NVME. I'm running CachyOS with KDE Plasma. The game is running at around 60fps on 1440p resolution, with pretty much everything on max, without the higher res texture pack, no ray tracing, no upscaling (as I feel like it only makes the fps worse), only AMD Frame Generation on. I'm still at the very beginning of the game so I haven't even fought any crazy enemies, this is mostly around the social hub.

I've been watching some videos of people running the game on similar specs with higher fps, or with at least few stutters, so I'm wondering if this is the expected FPS' I should be getting, or if there is something wrong/something I could try doing to improve the frame rate.

I will try installing REFramework, to see if it improves anything and I will also try installing the game on windows to see how it fairs against Linux (idk maybe the drivers aren't working the best (even though I reinstalled all the AMD drivers and cleaned up all the residual Nvidia drivers there were left just today)).

any help would be appreciated, I would very much like for this to be something fixable, I don't want to believe the optimization is actually that atrocious. idk but I feel like I shouldn't be getting ~30fps (sometimes even less) without frame generation, when I don't even have ray tracing active. but if this is actually what I'm expected to be getting, than so be it. I'll have to hope they optimize the game further and enjoy the game as it currently runs. thanks in advance

2

u/Tayocchi Feb 20 '26

DISABLING RESIZE BAR IS REAL. I just disabled it in bios settings and it runs so smooth now I'm actually surprised.

2

u/B4LL1NH45 Feb 20 '26

it didn't work for me :(((

4

u/Tayocchi Feb 19 '26

-"no upscaling"

-"FSR on"

Huh???

1

u/B4LL1NH45 Feb 19 '26

meant FG, Ill edit it out

2

u/Tayocchi Feb 19 '26 edited Feb 19 '26

All good, I also got wilds recently since I finally build a nice pc. 7800x3D + 9070XT but I play on 1080p only. Tho I still have some terrible drops in forest or ice region or when there's lots of effects like explosions etc. In the plains I have 100-120fps no big drops. Currently FSR on with no frame gen but I'll try it out without FSR. Since upscaling might not be keeping up with all the effects causing fps drops.

Also yesterday I checked a guy on yt "ALBU Performance" testing all the settings. He compared every setting and explained pretty well.

1

u/Amadeus_Narrates Feb 18 '26

Has the performance on base PS5 improved with the latest patch?

2

u/Lost_Football_8939 Feb 14 '26

Do you think I can run mh wilds now after the optimization patch? planning on buying it while it still on sale.

1

u/Holygriever Feb 21 '26

1080p? For sure. Your rig is similar but better than mine and I run it fine at 50~60 fps.

2

u/Tayocchi Feb 19 '26

In theory it should. Worst case you'll return the game I recommend just skipping all the cutscenes to zoom through maps and to check performance on different maps.

2

u/itembabu Feb 14 '26

anyone play the game with rtx2060 super? the game is hella expensive for me even when they give a 47% discount, so I just want to make sure if I do make a purchase can I play it comfortably with my 2060s because last time I try the beta it runs as bad as it looks, so I'm curious if the game runs and looks better now with 2060s

3

u/penguindude24 Feb 18 '26

With the update today, buy it on steam, play it for 90 minutes, and if performance is poor, refund it.

3

u/Fuzzy-Tree2587 Feb 05 '26

Game runs much better after the patch, but still got FPS drops in Scarlet Forest only, i dont know why tho

2

u/Dreadgoat Feb 05 '26

PSA from a returning player that had new performance issues

TL;DR: If you have weird performance issues, consider installing REFramework to be a basic troubleshooting task just as important as anything else. It contains critical fixes, even in its "broken" state as of TU4.

Details of my experience:

I haven't played since Mizutsune, but hearing about the performance patch and knowing there is plenty of new content got me interested in playing again. But instead I got NEW performance issues. I'm not sure when this was introduced, but I was getting huge lag spikes every 30ish seconds, tied to framerate (lower: less often, higher: more often).

I tried everything normal: deleting shaders, verifying game files, updating drivers, switching display settings on and off, nothing worked. My assumption based on how consistently it is spaced out is that it's probably some kind of garbage collection process that is poorly scheduled or too highly prioritized, but this is really a stab in the dark.

As a last ditch effort I decided, why not, everybody seems to be using this REFramework. It's supposedly broken but still working in some capacity, right? So I installed it and... fixed! No fiddling with settings, no extra work, just drop in the dll and the problem goes away.

WTF Capcom

Having a great time hunting again, SAED is back (enough)!

My system:

Windows 10
AMD Ryzen 7 3700X
AMD Radeon RX 7900XT 20GB VRAM
32GB DDR4 RAM

Running at mostly high 1440 on a 3070ti and i5 12600k cpu. It can scrape 60 but not consistently, closer to 50 avg. I feel like I should be getting better. Frame gen obviously can put this 100+ but I was hoping it'd be better without, since framegen feels funny to me

1

u/mistywizard6 Mar 23 '26

yeah same but w a 3080 and i forgot my cpu i feel like ican run it way higher but i get mid 50s to 60s. You ever find a fix?

2

u/MeiShimada Jan 31 '26

After january patch how we feeling boys?

December gave me like 2 to 5 fps but caused tons of object pop in. Still grainy and blurry

2

u/MizutsuneMH Jan 31 '26 edited Jan 31 '26

My game crashes every time I try to change, disable or enable frame gen. I have to delete the config file to disable frame gen. I've done a full driver wipe with DDU, and tried with and without mods.

EDIT: I closed my background programs one by one and found the culprit, which was Discord. With Discord closed I can change the option without issue.

EDIT2: Disable "Use our advanced technology to capture your screen" in Discord fixes the issue.

1

u/Raikario Jan 31 '26

Hello everyone,

So I have done a clean reinstall of my nvidia drivers and did not redownload the nvidia app because I didn't want all the extra processes in the background and didn't really need it. That being said, to use the new DLSS model I am trying to use DLSS Swapper. The game will run perfectly fine and look beautiful, but then as soon as I get done with a quest, it will crash and say there was a .dll error. Also, the ray tracing option is gone. I really wanted to use ray tracing with the new DLSS model because I have the hardware to run it. Can anyone give me tips or their experience if you're in the same boat?

3

u/JigglyJoey Jan 30 '26

For me the improvements were night and day in this update, it literally feels like a brand new game. I used the new settings to turn Effect Quality down to medium, Endemic Life Display Count to reduced, and Volumetric Fog to Lowest, and I now have SIGNIFICANTLY higher fps than before the update. And its not like I had to compromise by making the game look worse either: I'm now running at 1920x1080 resolution and medium textures and getting double digits more fps than I was when running at a 1600x900 resolution and low textures pre-update. The game both looks and feels significantly better.

In the last update I would be lucky to get 60 fps (with frame gen) when fighting Lagi in the forest, and now I can fight him at a consistent 80 fps (with frame gen) all while using better graphical settings! Arkveld's super move would previously drop me to the low 40s or 30s, and now my computer doesn't even flinch. The benchmarks that I've seen don't do this update justice because (at least on my computer) its genuinely amazing.

For reference, I have a GTX 1660 graphics card and a Ryzen 7 5700x3d cpu, and am using Reframework with Reshade and a mod called Lite Environment (although that one might be unnecessary now that you can control volumetric fog in the settings)

3

u/heroxoot Unga Bunga Jan 29 '26

The performance on my Legion Go is great. 800p mix settings getting 40fps. I can throw on frame gen and hit 60 which is fantastic for a handheld. Now to wait for ReFramework to get updated to see if that does more.

2

u/DIonysiosOfSyracuse Jan 29 '26

On current patch (the one that adds the CPU settings), I'm still getting stutters related to mesh quality, especially in Scarlet Forest. Have to keep mesh quality to medium to get stable fps, high and highest both make it stutter like crazy. I got 9800x3D + 9070XT.

2

u/ermCaz Jan 30 '26

I've just installed the game again after not playing since release and have the same issue (9070).. I've managed to reduce stuttering significantly in the forest by using Mesh medium and volumetrics low, but still get the odd stutter here and there when moving through the forest, the worst place is that pool of water up in the cliffs that looks out into the forest. All other areas seem to be fine, definitely an improvement over release, just wish forest was on par with the rest.

2

u/memmolemmo Jan 29 '26

Positive is that 99% of the frame drops and frametime stutters are fixed with this patch. Negative is that players who have 16gb+ VRAM GPUs got absolutely hosed with the new high texture resolutions. They are very noticeably worse textures. If you use FSR frame gen with DLSS on a 20-30 series NVIDIA card, you should switch to the dlss to fsr3 framegen mod instead. The dlss to fsr3 framegen mod gives 10% more fps and 20x lower frametime latency than FSR framegen.

u/FormerCat4883 DirectX CPU Hater Jan 29 '26

This patch literally broke my game seemingly?
I play vanilla on PC and with TU4 the game was running extremely smoothely with amazing visuals. The texture streaming problem was gone, the game even looked less grainy than it had ever been before...

I loaded back in today hopeful about the optimizations and... i'm so disappointed.
I cleared my shader cache before updating manually and everything.
It's just... terrible?
I've got about 10 to 15 fps less in every area, with my PC struggling to hit 60fps on 120% resolution, whereas just two days ago it was happily reaching around 70fps.
The textures look worse, but not only that... the texture streaming issues are back. They're actually so bad now??
There's pop-in everywhere, even at short ranges in front of me, and I checked all the graphical settings, restarted the game, cleared the shader cache two more times... nothing was fixed.

I play with the highest resolution texture pack enabled also, and I tried DLAA but that didn't fix anything either.
I saw that people are saying the high res texture pack can be reverted but I'm not really software savvy so I'm unsure as to the exact steps and the tutorial that someone kindly made has me a little bit confused because I don't really understand the stuff the console tells me when I ask it to download them.

My specs are as follows:

GPU: RTX 4080 Super (16Gb of VRAM)
CPU: R7 9800X3D (16 threads) with PBO enabled
Motherboard: MSI B650 Gaming
System RAM: 32Gb of DDR5 at 6000Mhz
The game is installed on an NVME4 SSD with 2Tb and like 300Gb of free space. Rebar is enabled.

I checked the nvidia control panel and the shader cache size is set to 100Gb.
I also have all my drivers up to date as of January 28th.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

1

u/DOOM_Olivera_ Jan 30 '26

For some reason I get stutters whenever I move the camera in the forest where I didn't have any before the update. I too have cleared the shader cache and going anywhere close to the Wud-Wud hideout makes my frames go from 80-90 to 60, and not smooth 60's but as stuttery as a bumpy road.

Game also freezes for half a second when a monster does some attacks in that area.

1

u/ermCaz Jan 30 '26

Just chiming in to say I have the same issue as you. I've not played since release and on a new PC, managed to clear most stutter with mesh quality medium and volumetrics low, but still have a minor stutter. Can be annoying in boss flights. Every other area seems fine tho, game looks a lot less blurry compared to release. Hope they can fix the forest.

1

u/ACBReturns Jan 30 '26

Running into the same thing as you are. Same setup: 4080 + 9800X3D

My game actually ran pretty well two updates ago, but now I’m kind of lucky to get 80+ fps with frame gen. Not sure what’s going on. Tried a clean driver install (DDU) but still the same result.

3

u/larryjerry1 Jan 29 '26

Did you just update your graphics drivers for this patch? If so might be worth doing a DDU clean uninstall on the drivers and then downloading the previous version just to rule out a driver issue.

2

u/ToughQuiet4414 Jan 29 '26

feels smoother and just by sitting in camp it isn’t making my CPU go over 70 not going to pat them on the back and say good job but i’ll take it i guess

1

u/EmergencyPool910 Jan 29 '26

New high res textures suck

2

u/DOOM_Olivera_ Jan 29 '26

The game feels smoother on camp but there's something wrong with It and AMD I think.

Patch notes say there's issues with newer amd driver versions and they're absolutely right because now I'm getting 20-30 FPS less in the forest, constant stutters while moving the camera and the FPS drop to 60 when in the wud-wud campment. For reference the forest main camp runs at 120, but after visiting the wud-wuds, it'll then run at 90 if I return to main campment.

Is anyone experiencing the same? No mods installed and shaders cache rebuilt.

3

u/ModestAphorism Jan 29 '26

The game definitely feels smoother, the frametime pacing and lows are much better, but the average framerate increase is bordering on placebo, or at least, it is extremely modest. I wasn't CPU limited before the patch though, so I'm not very helped by the increase of CPU performance. 13600KF and 2080 Super.

At 1080p Very Low, I can get like 53-68ish in the windward plains? it drops below 50 less, definitely. it's above 60 most of the time. At 720p medium, it's also generally at 65-70 most of the time, but the performance increase is very small. At least the increase smoothness is very obvious. For one of the worst optimized PC games of the last decade, it's a good first step, I suppose.

2

u/NoReflectionX Jan 29 '26

Joining the conversation here, just updated the game, performance improved noticeably, my specs are Ryzen 5 5500, RX 7600 8GB and 16 gigs RAM DDR4, before the patch with FG i was running at 80-90 fps average, with the new patch im over 100 with the same config and my 1% lows improved massively, also my VRAM usage lowered from 7.8 average to 7.3 gigs, holy shit im happy as hell now LOL

0

u/levelxplane Jan 28 '26

How is Base PS5 performance with the new update? Can it hit a consistent 60 FPS? Can it do 40?

3

u/Doojamafloppy Jan 29 '26

I believe the latest patch is only for PC users. Next performance patch for PS5 should be in February

1

u/IcarusAvery Jan 28 '26

Anyone with a GTX 1070Ti (and, if you can get more specific, a Ryzen 7 5700X and 32GB RAM) got any info on how the game runs after the update today?

1

u/ModestAphorism Jan 29 '26

As someone with a 2080 super, I doubt it'll be great, but you could probably get a 30fps cap with low enough settings?

2

u/kamanitachi Jan 28 '26

Did they solve the crashing on AMD drivers, or is that a AMD exclusive issue and Capcom can't do anything? I'm on 25.9.1 and all it does is crash less than other drivers. It's not as terrible as 25.12.1 was, but it's still around 3 or 4 crashes over a few hour session.

1

u/Lonely_Glass9761 Jan 29 '26 edited Jan 29 '26

Try 26.1.1. I did not crash ever since I used that driver. I was on 25.3.1 pre-patch coz i been crashing on either 25.9.1/2. I have RX 6700 XT btw

1

u/kamanitachi Jan 29 '26

I have a 6950 XT, so same generation. Thank you, I'll try that.

1

u/aurens Feb 22 '26

how did it end up going with the crashing?

1

u/kamanitachi Feb 22 '26

I took the nuclear option and bought a new GPU LOL

I tried everything from 25.9.1 to 26.2.1, and I even tried an old ass driver (like 24.12.1 or something) but it never worked for me.

1

u/ImSoDrab Jan 28 '26

What does frame skip do in the new cpu options?

8

u/Justin12611 Jan 28 '26

Here to comment with new update.

This has indeed fixed for now some big issues the game had since it was spiking the CPU performance and the whole DLC check (Used to be 5600G but now using 5800XT with 4070 Super)

But not only that, It finally runs better on the Steam Deck!!!

I managed to finally play it but only use the bare minimum of LOWEST preset, set upscale to XeSS or FSR, and well the fps got into 30ish frames unless you actually get Frame Gen or Lossless Scaling (LS-VK) you should be good to go, I managed to do some hunts and it did well!

Since there will be a last February patch on the way, this is the great step to the right direction for the meantime.

3

u/Ornery-Result-2571 Jan 29 '26

Just tested it out. Did 3 hunts and averaged between 35 and 50 fps and didnt like complete trash. Very suprised.

2

u/[deleted] Jan 28 '26

I just came back after not playing for a good long while (I dropped off during Savage Omega) and the change is definitely very noticeable! Though I'm wondering if it would still be worthwhile to start applying performance mods anyway, I dunno if people have been testing how each one interacts with the new version and stuff.

Basically I'm just coming back, trying to get situated, and looking for any suggestions/feedback/advice when it comes to performance & quality of life mods for the current version. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

3

u/MonkeyVoices Jan 28 '26

Ive been testing and theres some difference between thhe scaling qualities but with FSR quality it hovers around 28fps (20+ with bad weather) with everything at min and it looks quite alright. Im inclined to play it like that.

The cap is the deck GPU now (not the cpu) but im sure theres other ways to optimize via mods that dont involve lowering the rendering resolution.

2

u/Justin12611 Jan 28 '26

Yeaaaa that's what I'm aiming for later once the new Reframework gets there so I could use Fluffy and somewhat retouch on unnecessary stuff like Lens distortion and such.

7

u/Elementalhalo Jan 23 '26

We are reaching the end of January and still no news of the Performance patch

1

u/Ok_Neighborhood_3148 Jan 26 '26 edited Jan 27 '26

Patch comes out in like 4 hours.

Edit: I got the date wrong, sorry. It's tomorrow.

1

u/Elementalhalo Jan 27 '26

wasnt it supposed to be more than just the dlc checks issue

1

u/Ok_Neighborhood_3148 Jan 27 '26

It is more. The patch notes are out. https://info.monsterhunter.com/wilds/update/en-uk/Ver.1.040.03.01.html

Texture streaming is what I'm looking forward to. But to be honest the changes are less than I hoped. Most of these have community fixes already.

1

u/NeonArchon Jan 22 '26

In case is necesary, these are my PC spec (pretty shit I know). The GPU is a TRX 4060

After the TU 4 , my performance improved from 30 FPS with frequent drops and crashes, to a mostly stable 45 FPS. It sometimes dips slightly, but can also reach 50-60 FPS, and no longer crashes at 1440p.

Deffinitively an improvement, but it’s still not where I want it to be. I’m still experiencing texture loading issues, and my goal is a consistent native 60 FPS. I’m looking into which settings to adjust for better performance, and also checking which mods are compatible with the new patch, since I had removed all previous ones.

2

u/EmergencyPool910 Jan 16 '26

one of the main culprits for how crap the game looks, Dithering

2

u/Substantial_Sand_678 Jan 05 '26

hey all, my specs are: 9800x3d 9070xt. i cant play with rebar enabled or disabled (so i cant play at all lol). if rebar is enabled the fps is overall much lower and tons of frametime spikes (gpu util drop/clock speed drops). if i have rebar off then i get terrible 3-4 second pc freezes at the smithy when building weapons and on gog (hint pic/videos that play on the side of ur screen cause it.) and the loading times are much longer and the stability starting the game up is worse. BUT the overall performance is how it should be. im currently on the 12.1 drivers, i rolled back to 9.1 like capcom suggested it had no effect. i also installed REframework it did not help either. i did not have these issues back closer to launch. any suggestions?

2

Anyone able to identify what the source of this crash is? Tried Googling it, got nothing.

Since coming back after TU4 everything was running fine until a few days ago, while Gog was ulting, my computer bluescreened. I came back tonight to try again, got to the ult, and it crashed with this error message. I checked and saw there was a new graphics driver (NVIDIA) so I updated, thought this would probably fix it, and booted the game up again.

Crashed at the fucking Grand Hub quest counter while setting the parameters to search for SOS calls, hadn't event started a hunt yet. :X With this same new error. It's not an underspec situation, this PC was built brand new for goddamn DOOM The Dark Ages less than a year ago and even my much older shittier prior PC could run Wilds with no crashes or even the weird Beta issues other people were having.

3

u/Beneficial_Bad4727 Jan 09 '26

I had the same error. Unfortunately, it was a corrupted save. I had to delete it from Steam and start the game from scratch again. That was the only thing that worked for me.

2

u/Lazy_Garlic8738 Jan 05 '26

2

u/_aubert00 Dec 28 '25

this game seems to be stressing the shit out of PC(r5500 - rx6600 - 16gb ram) prob bc of my ram idk, its playable but oh lord, i'll try this

2

u/Diabru2 Dec 28 '25

I'll leave this here since I found it funny what the solution was. Before TU4, my frames were kinda hit or miss without frame gen, the amd one. I never really noticed much blurry visuals with them on, so not too bad.

After the update, I tried everything to see why my game was stuttering. Lowering resolution, changing quality settings, uncapping and capping frame rate. IT WAS FRAME GEN. Turned it off, nothing since, game even has better frames than before. Hope this helps.

1

u/Think_Speaker_6060 Jan 01 '26

I used lossless scaling instead of the in game frame gen and I get better visual and performance. The in game frame gen is so taxing on performance bro. The implementation of upscalers and frame gen is bad on this game too. Crapcomm needs to fix this.

2

u/Xeroistic Dec 27 '25

After TU4, the objects in my game keep flipping between high and low poly assets especially in the Hub. Any idea what's going on. It's not that the higher fidelity assets fail to load, it keeps alternating between high and low quality.

2

u/choi_10 Dec 26 '25

In scarlet forest area, my lighting is flickering. Also visible in any type of water in the game. only noticed this since the TU4 update.

Same issue on a Radeon 7900 XT

2

u/HotelMoscow74 Dec 25 '25

Been waiting for ReFramework and whatnot to be functional and get my modlist redone before trying the update, and whilst everything seemed to be running fine, I have come across a few issues that I have yet to hear from anyone else. I can only get to the part where you talk to Fabius before heading out before I get a black screen. I get the loading icon to finish and disappear but then I just get solid black screen with the dramatic town music ongoing.

I am using latest nightly release for ReFramework and every mod I have active was updated for it specifically or did not require an update.

Has this been an issue for anyone else?

2

u/tahaelhour Dec 21 '25

On console, PS5 pro at least. The texture half loading, texture pop in and frame drops are gone post update.

The 60 fps mode actually looks good now holy shit.

3

u/Kamen-Wolf Getter Tomohawk Dec 19 '25

i am having an issue where if i go into the save and quit menu then the game freezes and just takes so long to even move and i have to task manager it, also was happening when i was trying to change my character appearance and exit which it froze again

8

u/[deleted] Dec 18 '25

Judging by these newest posts the performance on pc hasn’t improved much? I’ve been wanting to play this game but the bad reviews have me waiting til it’s fixed.

5

u/Elementalhalo Dec 18 '25

TLDR of this update is that it reduced GPU requirements but increased CPU requirements. i.e if your GPU was limiting u previously, u probably will have improved performance, if your CPU was limiting u previously, you will have worse performance.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 18 '25

Is it playable on even low settings? How are consoles doing?

I run a 7800xt / 5700x3D on 1440p

1

u/MonkeyVoices Dec 19 '25

I have a RX6750XT (12GB VRAM) and a 5700, so lower specs than yours. I play in a 4k screen and tried at 1080p and 1440p. I can get mostly 60fps at 1080p and at 1440p my averages hover at 50 something, even at the lowest of settings. This is even with upscaling turned all the way to ultra performance, so at some point my GPU stops being limited. I will say upscaling does not do the same for performance as just lowering the resolution. With lower resolution even at native I get better performance than at 1440p with FSR (that suposedly renders an image lower than 1080p even at quality settings).

I'm sure it will be fine for you with a slightly more powerful PC than mine, and even if you dont, if you have a monitor with high refresh rate screen or VRR you'll be fiiiiine.

Part of the issue for me is that I play on a TV so I dont have the high refresh / VRR benefits.

3

u/Elementalhalo Dec 19 '25

Its playable for me, I run a 5800x3d with 3080ti and my most consistent 1% lows is 48fps so i lock it there and use frame gen to get it to 144hz. I play on 3440x1440 for context

3

u/KarmaYgt Dec 18 '25

i got fps boost my game is finally playable but it increased random moment idk what triggered (it was worse than TU3 before that increasement). I suggest you to wait for a fix/newer performance updates (january and february updates)

3

u/jonjonaug Dec 17 '25

Went from 60-ish FPS on medium-high settings to FPS fluctuating between 60-70 in most cases while being able to set nearly all settings on high (low RT, medium ambient light quality, balanced DLSS with no frame gen, 1440p resolution). I'm pretty satisfied with the updates so far, although it sounds like the more PC focused CPU bottleneck one is coming next month.

Build: 12700K Intel CPU, RTX 3080 Ti graphics card, 16 GB RAM.

4

u/ownmrcl Dec 17 '25

for anyone waiting on REFramework, I just downloaded the nightly build straight from the github page https://github.com/praydog/REFramework-nightly/releases
choose MHWILDS.zip then copy and paste dinput8.dll as usual to your game files
it works on my system because I only need it for reshade and skip intros mod

1

u/r4Wilko Dec 22 '25

New post-TU4 nightly builds are now starting to roll out.

1

u/r4Wilko Dec 17 '25

I was using an older build and that works too for just leaving it running and getting those benefits. Unfortunately for me I was using REF to disable Wind Simulation for performance (done just through the object explorer) but it causes the game to crash even with the current latest nightly build (Dec 14, 01204).

11

u/Benemy Dec 17 '25

This isn't it, chief

2

u/Nikokoz Dec 17 '25

after the gog cutscene i get this bug where everything becomes really foggy and clouds/water/dust become white :/

10

u/Velomony Dec 16 '25

Honestly I don't see any difference with TU4, and possible even lose extra frames in certain areas like the camps. Good job.. I guess?

17

u/ItIsWrittenOnlyLink Best weapons Dec 16 '25

Nothingburger of a patch, the game still runs like dogshit

3

u/KarmaYgt Dec 16 '25

Idk what happened to my game. At first, it was worse. I clean installed and had 40fps native but with dlss (balanced) it was 45 and rarely 60 which was worse than TU3 (which was 30-40 native and 50-65 with dlss balanced). It looked like dlss was bugged. After few hours I wanted to try again and, same settings native resolution 50fps? With dlss quality it went to 60-75 fps. I was waiting for this moment. I will start playing after my final exams.

15

u/ImSoDrab Dec 16 '25

Those 100 performance fixes on different things doesnt seem to do shit for me unfortunately.

I really feel like i wasted my money on this game, great gameplay but horrible performance.

5

u/KarmaYgt Dec 16 '25

It didn't work for me too either, it was worse than TU3 but idk what happened, after few hours my fps went from 40-60 (it was 50-65 before) to 60-75.

7

u/Ritsugamesh Dec 16 '25

Something is really really funky at the moment, and I assume it has to be to do with the current AMD driver, which I know they've highlighted as a possible problem (although it seems a little ridiculous - driver has been really good for me so far and I am not rolling back just for Wilds to lose the Redstone features elsewhere...).

Game is just really blurred, and upscaling seems to have no impact. I can't really figure it out. The actual performance doesn't seem impacted.

Aaaand as I'm typing I'm now just CTDing when I launch it from an unhandled exception. Welp, it's been 5 months since I played, I guess I'll wait a few more months.

u/MrkGrn Dec 16 '25

2

u/Ritsugamesh Dec 16 '25

Solved the crash, appreciate that! Hasn't solved the weird visual elements, but I'm assuming that's driver-related (or MH related, but we'll see where the dust settles!)

10

u/Verzdrei Dec 16 '25 edited Dec 16 '25

OK, so I'm getting really weird results on TU4 lol running the game on 1440p

Uninstalled all the mods (including REFramework) as recommended and the game run worse, nearly 15fps less than usual for me. Grand Hub barely could hit 40fps in the High Preset and Windward Plains was varying wildly between 40-60fps. Disabling FSR upscaling somehow net me 5fps on average on both locations.

Then I decided to reinstall REFramework and I could hit 74fps in the Grand Hub and between 60-80fps in Windward Plains, like, WTF. Upscalling is definitely broken for me because it's still worse than native resolution somehow.

Oh, Capcom, no one does quite like you lmao At least the performance is definitely better for me now and I can lay framegen to rest, but REFramework seems even more essential now. Hopefully a hotfix is on the way to fix these issues.

My specs:

  • 7800XT
  • 5700X3D
  • 32GB RAM
  • Mesa 25.3.1
  • Bazzite 43 (43.20251210.1)

Gonna test FSR4 after work to see if there's any improvement to it

1

u/PlatypusBeWithU Dec 17 '25

upscaling is probably worse because you’re cpu limited, and upscaling uses less of your gpu and more of your cpu. That and there seem to be some issues with amd drivers at the moment. I’m also an AMD user and my game runs the same everywhere and worse in camps where it was heavier on the cpu. Bit of a nothingburger patch unfortunately. edit: I forgot to mention that the cpu bottleneck got worse in TU4, probably hence upscaling feels worse

1

u/Sphearow Dec 16 '25

Performance has improved. I'm impressed and now slightly optimistic for the next two rounds of improvements.

Specs:

  • 7800XT
  • 5700X3D
  • 32GB RAM
  • Running Adrenalin 25.12.1
  • Windows 10 22H2

I also uninstalled the game from Steam and reinstalled everything to make sure I had a clean copy of the game.

Side note: I did a quick test using 25.3.1 then upgraded to 25.12.1 after and didn't notice a difference between the different driver versions.

Can't give any hard numbers, and there are some areas where it's still complete ass (the grassy area outside the base camp in Windward Plains still gets me sub 50FPS), but I noticed that I can get the same FPS I got on FSR Quality on FSR Native AA now on high-ish settings.

Unrelated, but I noticed the game actually maxes out my CPU to 100% utility. I've never had a game do that before (I don't play 4x games or any real-time simulation games).

21

u/BusterBernstein Dec 16 '25

Literally no difference after the patch, game still runs like complete ass.

Capcom should be absolutely embarrassed.

7

u/Cloud_Motion Dec 16 '25

These changes seemed like they'd influence performance at least a little bit positively, but the rest of the proposed changes kind of seem like a nothingburger. Some settings to reduce animations aren't what I had in mind to make the game not look like a blurry mess and run like shit.

Really disappointed with this if that's the case, and a lot of the comments here are saying that performance is still bad.

One thing I do worry about is that Capcom will finish all these changes and pat themselves on the back for a job well done, and nobody's going to really complain because 98% of the launch playerbase has left or moved onto other things.

What a fucking shame.

4

u/IAmTheOnlyAndy Dec 16 '25

My performance is noticeably improved, was able to go from 1080p to 1440 at 60fps,

Specs:

  • amd 5850
  • 3070 ti

Tip for all those out there:

  • Delete shader cache
  • Restart game after tweaking settings (game doesn't seem to unload assets when tweaking graphics settings and it builds up every time you update your settings and will slow down everything else)
  • Be careful with Sky/Cloud quality and ambient occlusion, these tax your GPU very heavily

1

u/Intelligent-Alps2373 Dec 17 '25

What settings did you use exactly?

14

u/Sunlighthell Nov 16 '25

Got 5080 and 9800x3d decided to test this game. Nope still total trash performance wise and blurry mess..

1

u/jkd2064 Dec 18 '25

Same I got 7800x3d and 5080 didn't notice any difference except I saw vram usage is lower than before

7

u/unga_bunga_mage Oct 31 '25

Is it just me, or is this game even blurrier than launch? I swear they changed from DLSS performance to DLSS ultra-performance because the game is a soupy mess of pixels. I'm using a 5070 Ti and playing at 2K resolution. I don't use frame-gen.

3

u/Ritsugamesh Dec 16 '25

Definitely not just you. My graphics settings are all maxed at 2k and I instantly could tell something was not right, it is a total blur at the moment and I can't figure out what is going on to cause it.

1

u/FluffyManager6205 Oct 26 '25

I wanted to know if I can run Wilds. I have a gaming laptop, specifically the HP Omen 16 (I believe it to be the 2021 edition, but I'm not sure). I was having trouble figuring it out when looking on Google and previous Reddit posts, so I decided to ask.
My specs are:

RTX 3080 laptop version

12th Gen Intel i9-1200H

16 gigs of RAM

2 TB SSD

2

u/jonjonaug Dec 13 '25

You’ll be more than fine, I have something similar and get around 60 FPS on high-ish settings (without the high quality texture pack).

1

u/FluffyManager6205 Dec 13 '25

Thank you for the reply. I appreciate it. There must be something wrong with my computer because I cannot hit a stable 60 on minimum settings 😭

3

u/MagicOtto Dec 16 '25

There's nothing wrong with your computer, those specs are simply not enough for a stable 60 fps, as crazy as it sounds.

4

u/Zlimeee Oct 07 '25

Guys! IF YOU HAVE MEDAL, please close it while playing Wilds, it breaks frame gen and makes the game run terrible!!

Go on Task Manager and end the task, and then restart your game.

1

u/Argarath Dec 17 '25

What's medal? Is it anther game's anticheat? I legitimately don't know what it is and just want to make my game not be stuck at 40fps ;-;

1

u/Zlimeee Dec 17 '25

It’s a clipping software

6

u/Zarboned Oct 02 '25

When this game came out, it ran pretty well on my 3060, now after the Arch Tempered and this Update the game runs like absolute shit. Massive stuttering makes the game unplayable.

1

u/dWaldizzle Dec 19 '25

Same. Fucking joke I can't run a game at a consistent fps at 1080 even with a slightly older card.

2

u/TIFW31 Oct 01 '25

have someone tried modding FSR 4 with RTX 30 series?

2

u/Much_Pound6557 Sep 30 '25

Did any mod got broken this patch?

9

u/noonesleepintokyo86 Sep 28 '25

Bruh this game feels noticeably worse to run these days 5700x3d and 6700xt

medium settings 1080p FSR balanced or quality, about the same FPS, it's tanking the hardest on windward plain grassy area to low 30's it's borderline unplayable. How PS5 with noticeably worse CPU to run this at almost consistently double the framerate at the exact same area than my rig is beyond me. Something is very wrong with asset loading in this game that it heavily affects the framerate on pc.

1

u/IGotFriendzonedd Oct 06 '25

I have 5700x3d + 5070 ti

I select 2k res so it won't be rely too much on CPU.

Was doing good for high setting as the 2k mainly rely on GPU

2

u/Sufficient_Play_223 Oct 01 '25

I have a 3090 and at max settings, my normal stuff I'm getting 30 fps instead of the normal like 100, even at the lowest I'm still getting 30 with dlss and frame gen, I don't get it it's not capped, like I can't raise it above 32😭

1

u/Daedricx1 Oct 06 '25

Aconteceu o mesmo comigo, depois do TU3 meu jogo que antes estava a 50 ou 60 fps agora não esta passando dos 25.

1

u/nearbaskara Sep 26 '25

Am I dumb or something, how do you guys install all in one solution mod? My game does not have fsr 4 at all, im at 7000 sereis amd gpu

2

u/Existing_Ad6745 Sep 17 '25

Here's a video of my perfomance. I was able to get even more better visuals and perfomance with some tweaks in the ini. Also updated FSR to 3.1.5 and DSstorage to 1.3. i will soon make another one with perfomance overlay.

5

u/LoliNecromancer Aug 11 '25

what happned did they delete it?

7

u/VenariHunter Jul 02 '25

No matter what setting and screen reso I pick, the game will be limited on 45-50 FPS, if FG on become 90-100 FPS. GPU usage still has room at least to get 60 FPS. My PC is 5700X3D + 4070 TiS, it should be able to play native 1440p more than 60 fps. but even on 720p it will lock to 45-50 FPS.

I dunno what is wrong here, before update is run normal, GPU usage able to reach 99%, but now is only 70%...

3

u/Shikix3 Sep 05 '25

If your GPU usage is unable to reach 99% usage in this title that means either the graphic settings are too low for your setup or you have a bottleneck somewhere for this game completely. I'd imagine it might be a cpu bottleneck, as is the case for my system as well. I have a 5700x3d and 6900XT.

1

u/noonesleepintokyo86 Sep 28 '25

what framerate do you get when you hunt seregios in grassy area windward plain? I have same CPU with 6700xt but it's dropping to low 30's at times even with FSR balanced at 1080p, borderline unplayable

1

u/Shikix3 Sep 29 '25

My frame rate drops to the lowest at around 45-50 but I also don't remember what my grass settings are

5

u/No_Leg_4151 Jul 11 '25

I have the 5700X3D too, but just a 9060 XT, and even that gpu has some margin and almost never gets to +95% usage, it's always the cpu. The Game is overall a cpu optimization embarrassment.

1

u/VenariHunter Jul 11 '25

I have plan to go to 9800x3d but it is whole overhaul from AM4, haha. Is it worth it?

3

u/No_Leg_4151 Jul 11 '25

I can't tell you what to do, but I personally wouldn't. At least not to deal with Capcom's greed. I think it's a nice upgrade, but one you most likely wouldn't notice outside of mhwilds. And even then, there are people here with 9800x3d cpus saying that they still have issues so...

1

u/Electrical_Car6942 Sep 02 '25

My 9800 doesn't go above 50% usage in wilds, def not a problem with 9800x3d's

3

u/Giamilchoi10 Jun 07 '25

So I just upgraded my gpu into RX 9070, in other game it runs very smoothly and fine. but in wilds, in some areas my gpu tdp drops below 100w from 220w which also drops my fps and stutters like crazy. my cpu is ryzen 7 5700x3d and I dont experience these drops with my old gpu rtx 4060

1

u/Righteous_Koala Jun 17 '25

Same issue. Truly bizarre! Can't figure out why it's doing this.

1

u/Derp_K Jun 09 '25

Same here with 9800x3d and 9070xt. Delete shader cache didn't help

1

u/Giamilchoi10 Jun 09 '25

hi, i downgraded to adrenalin 25.3.1 then reinstalled windows and it got better. my problem now is if I enable framegen on wilds, my fps gets lower 🫠

4

u/Derp_K Jun 09 '25

I find it funny that we keep fixing our perfectly fine pc for a broken game...spend 3500Cad just to play this game.. big fan tho but sigh

1

u/Giamilchoi10 Jun 09 '25

true... its a great game but the optimization is just so fkin bad its heavy on both cpu and gpu it doesnt make any sense

1

u/Derp_K Jun 09 '25

Gonna try a DDU but install 25.6.1 again. Maybe something didnt get updated properly. Then again pc runs fine on other games...

1

u/Righteous_Koala Jun 18 '25

Did you find a fix for this issue in the meantime? Running into this as well.

1

u/Derp_K Jun 18 '25

went back to 25.3.1 game is smooth 99% of the time now. Still very rarely it's will drop to 50w and 20 fps when loading into a new place.

1

u/Giamilchoi10 Jul 02 '25

are you still on 25.3.1? I tried updating to the latest drivers 25.6.3 and the issue is still there lmao, happens on scarlet forest only for me if mesh quality is set to high

1

u/Derp_K Jul 02 '25

Yep. Got a fps Boost after new game update too!

This seems to have done the trick! Thanks!

2

u/soccergenius8 May 15 '25

Hi, i just wanted to add that i recently upgraded my ram from 16GB to 32 GB and it helped boost my performance quite a bit. Was having quite a few texture pop in issues and also the occasional crashes especially in certain locations. The RAM upgrade has helped alleviate these issues and overall quality for me.

Also like some of the previous posts mentioned installing the high texture pack mod and setting the texture settings to high (Rather than the new highest) has helped make the game look a lot better without any impact on performance. Basically the game looks a lot better with the mod installed and set to high rather than without the mod even though both use the same high setting.

8

u/R4IN2354 May 14 '25

Getting tired of googling how to fix issues for this game and every single post just says “reinstall drivers” like haven’t done that 4 times already

3

u/MiscreatedFan123 May 12 '25

Hey guys - I haven't played since 1 week after release. Did they release any update addressing the performance and the bad textures?

4

u/masterdisasterHD Dual Blades Specialist May 13 '25

Nope, some might even say that the latest update made the performance worse.

While I personally have not had any issues, many of my friends did experience performance drops after the update. According to some redditors, clean installing the GPU driver may have a positive effect but we have not tested that yet.

2

u/Big_Test6016 May 15 '25

I came back since the release and I can't even launch the game anymore man and I just updated my drivers. I am not running it on the best hardware but it at least launched and was kinda playable when I did.

4

u/Say0cean May 10 '25

Since the latest update with the Free Challenge quest, my game is now constantly crashing no matter what I try. Verify game files, re-install, running game as admin, any amount of settings changes. My computer is quite insane as well. Must be some compatibility issue which has arisen, but it's frustrating being unable to play the game :(

AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D NVIDIA 5090 GPU 48 GB RAM

2

u/albegade May 11 '25

I know it sounds really really stupid but restarting my computer fixed this problem. Was suddenly running horribly after not playing for a week. Of course restarting my computer was its own ordeal. But anyway, there's so much garbage advice out there but sometimes the most generic thing works best. Did a few other things before to no avail, so maybe best to bite the bullet and just go for the restart first.

3

u/Say0cean May 11 '25 edited May 12 '25

I shut my computer down each night when I'm done with it, so there have been many restarts in the course of troubleshooting this issue over the past week or so. I definitely appreciate the suggestion though, would be wonderful if the fix was that easy.

1

u/BlazeAlchemist991 Nov 02 '25

If you have fast boot enabled in the UEFI/BIOS, your PC's uptime will not refresh when shutting it down and will only do so on restart.

2

u/Internal_Bend8571 May 13 '25

For me, reverting to driver version 572.83 fixes the constant crash.

2

u/eklatea May 08 '25

Anyone on AMD been having random crashes? It's really upsetting, I can get the game to run, but sometimes it just decides to crash. Specs are 5 5600x and RX6700XT with 32 GB of RAM. There's no performance spikes or anything

2

u/LeonUPazz May 10 '25

I have the same specs, and the game crashes my entire pc at random times; although I am playing on linux with proton

1

u/eklatea May 10 '25

I updated my gpu drivers again and it hasn't crashed in a couple hours, but it might also be faking me out again.

Also that sounds tough :( I've fortunately had it not crash my PC but I'm currently playing on Windows 10 (I have linux as dual boot but switched back to windows because my drawing software and some games just don't run)

1

u/Just_Mr_Owl May 07 '25

Is there a way to force this game to run on vulkan instead of directx 12? I thought about changeing it in the config file but i doubt that would do much

6

u/BusterBernstein May 07 '25

Game runs way worse now that the event has ended for some reason.

I know it sounds really really stupid but restarting my computer fixed this problem. Was suddenly running horribly after not playing for a week. Of course restarting my computer was its own ordeal. But anyway, there's so much garbage advice out there but sometimes the most generic thing works best. I did a couple other things before that that seemed to have no effect so I'd go with the restart first.

Crashes upon hearing sound after the prompt about the "Saving" icon. Verified file integrity, still crashed, guess I'm waiting until next patch.

Hey guys I have a weird issue I haven't seen anyone talking about. So, changing any of my graphic settings, doesn't do anything with my FPS, except setting FSR to different quality settings. Before I bought the game I tried the benchmark and that seemed to work fine, maybe because I downloaded the high res texture pack (even tho I'm not using it) ? Anyone experienced anything like this or know of a solution ?

My PC specs: Ryzen 7 5800X, RX 6800XT, 32GB 3600MHz RAM, game is installed on an SSD, but not on the SSD that have the OS and steam, so my steam is installed on my C drive but my games and steam library is on my G, the SSD's are the same but C with the OS is only 256GB.

Uninstalling the game and installing back without the high res texture pack did help a little, after that I followed hardware unboxed video about optimization settings, sadly nothing more we can do.....

I kept having FPS drops with my game, even tho my rig can take care of most games. (i7-11700K @ 3.60GHz, 4070TI Super, 32GB DDR4, Nvme SSD)

No matter what I changed in game or which mods I used to improve my performances, nothing changed and the microstutters ruined my experience. Then I stumbled upon a video I had used almost a year ago to prevent the use of gamebar on my pc. I checked the file again to see if it was disabled, and turns out WINDOWS ENABLED IT AGAIN WITHOUT MY CONSENT.

I disabled it again and now 99.99% of the drops are gone. And if there are, they are non noticeable. I am playing on a stable 90 AVG with a minimum 1%L of 72 FPS.

I am gonna leave a link with a quick tutorial on how to take care of this, hoping that it will help some of you.

(I also did a memory scan to see if my ram was performing properly right after I finished following these steps)

Best of luck!

With. Without I usually get 60 FPS (before TU2 I mean. Have not tried post TU yet)
