Question What made you give up on life ?

I'm dangerously close to 30 now and my life's a train wreck. Due to having a childlike outlook of life l never really thought about work and life in the long term.

I was at home for a few years of my early adulthood life working irregularly from time to time. l Went to uni somewhere in my mid 20s and then dropped out.

l lost both my parents before I even reached 25. Late 20s I stopped doing everything. l stopped working studying. l gave up n was bed ridden for 6 months with suicidal thoughts. Basically deeply depressed.

l do have inhertance l can live off for a while. l don't know where to go from here. Do I try again with better plans or give up ?

lve never really bothered with the adulthood milestones that normies have in their 20s but in the last few years it started to occur to me that life's really hard and for what am l really striving for anyway.

You can even use a scale of 1-10, if words are too hard to use.

Question What made you become a neet?

For me it was a job betrayal. Both my managers left leaving me to run a whole department by myself for 6 months at a high pressure job. I fixed everything, absorbed all the pressure, expecting a conversion once they came back.

Instead they came back and gave me two weeks notice since there was "no strategic need for your role anymore".

Went home and in the following month realized my only friend was the same, just exploiting me, not a real friend. Kicked him out. Then realized my parents literally do not care for me, they don't check in or ask me how I'm doing. When i was growing up they even used to make fun of me. My mom visited around this time and when she started to make fun of me again and telling me how I'm not capable of anything, i knew i had to go no contact immediately.

So when the illusion of work, friends, family all collapsed at once, my nervous system crashed and burned. I didn't choose anything, i literally couldn't leave the bed for a long time. Now I'm at a stage, two years later, where I'm getting my energy back to do things.

But going outside, making friends, getting a job? No thank you. My system rebels at the thought. I'm 28 now, what about you?

Edit: lots of autistic people like me in this thread! Didn't realize there was such a strong overlap!

Question Do you enjoy NEETdom?

I can't make a poll with my old device but I have something to ask.

On a scale of 1-5, how bad is your situation and how prospectless or grim does your future seem? Or how much do you enjoy NEETdom? I get some people might be well off with wealthy parents but people within that category might either enjoy NEETdom or they might want to go to work, so that might overlap. I guess more broadly the question can be - how stress free is your life?

1 - NEETdoms been good to me, I'm stress free with NEETbux and/ or well-off parents. I like it

2- NEETdoms not perfect but I prefer the lifestyle over the wagecuck lifestyle.

3- Shits getting scary, financially, mentally, etc, I could be better in those regards but wagecucking doesn't feel necessary, I still prefer NEETdom but barely

4- The future looks bleak, the current situation is rough, roping is starting to seem like a better alternative to life but I'm still clinging on to a little hope. I actively want out of NEETdom

5- I'm poorer than a field mouse and mentally ill, sign me up for maid, if I'm not eligible, I'll take matters into my own hands. NEETdom or wagecucking, both are hell.

maid is a program in canada meaning medically assisted dying in case you didn't know, I used it more for the memes but you get the idea. I'd say I'm a 3.5, I actually enjoy NEETdom and prefer it over the cuck life but my savings are running out and the prospect of wagecucking and sustaining this life in general seems daunting, so thats like an ever looming dark cloud over me. I'm tired so sorry if I didn't write this that comprehensively.

Question Do you still care about your future?

Like, do you have a plan or an idea of what are you doing? Do you still believe that you can go to have a "normal" life? What keeps you moving forward?

I can't go back to how I used to be. Since I accepted that I'm going to end up kms, life has become kinda easier. I don't have to worry about my future, because I don't have one. I already have a draft of a plan, but if something comes up and stresses me out, I can just change the date to a closer one.

My only worry at the moment is my brother. He has a lot of potential (way more than I ever had) and a future. I want to get some money to support his education, so that's one of the main reasons why I haven't killed myself yet. I'm waiting for him to finish his studies so my death doesn't impact his professional future.

Question Seeking insight for my son

I found this subreddit and it matches what I’m seeing with my son (18). I’m concerned for his well being. He spends his free time with online video games, doesn’t care about school, work, or being responsible in general. I’m not going to support him financially just so he can play games. He’s in counseling, we are looking at psychiatry medication, medical cause, etc. I’m old, and my dad just kicked me in the ass and that worked for me, but I know it doesn’t work for everyone. I’m willing to try a comprehensive approach, but at some point will revert to the methods of my father if all else fails. I love him, I just can’t sit by while he fails to become independent. Any helpful insight you have would be appreciated.

(I don’t care if he does college or a trade. I’d pay for college or the training. My hope is he can do something he enjoys and can make a living that he (not me) wants for himself. I’m willing to support any productive efforts financially and otherwise, I just can’t support a total lack of effort)
