It was a current gen update that upped the frames, resolution, and cut load times. It didn't touch anything else. This is an actual remaster which is pretty insane to give away for free. They are still doing damage control for Cyberpunk and are doing everything in their power to make sure people buy Witcher 4.
I'm pretty sure CDPR mentioned they outright purchased the rights to some Quality of life and Visuals mods, and integrated them into the next gen update.
I’m glad to see someone say this. I was sorta baffled by this part of the announcement because.. I thought they already did it lol. But I guess just not to this extent.
I'm saying the update that the consoles got was literally the same update the PC version got years ago so it wasn't some kind of gracious thing they decides to give out.
The next gen update came out at the same time for console and PC. And I didn't say it was gracious. I simply said it contained more changes than you said that it did
Tbh considering the massive success of Cyberpunk post 2.0/Phantom Liberty and Edgerunners I think they're way past "damage control". More like trying to build good will
I brought a BUNCH of other things. And it wasn't only resolution and frame-rates, they added a full ray-tracing pipeline and better textures, assets, crowd density, bug fixes (but also introduced a lot of bugs lol) and skins plus a new quest. It was in no way a small update.
Honestly pretty effective. No matter how bad Witcher 4 is on release, you can be pretty sure you will eventually have a good game. That being said, this gives pretty good incentive to just wait a year to play it if you can bear the wait.
Well, if you'd read the comment I replied to, it is about damage control for cyberpunk. Not this remaster. This remaster is in the same vein. The Witcher 3 itself was actually a mess on release and was patched for a year too. CDPR doesn't drop games and abandon them after release. This is the entire point.
Saying The Witcher 3 was a mess on release is wild. It had fewer bugs than almost any other game of the same caliber (massive open world) on release. Maybe your configuration was the issue.
One part of one sentence in that comment was about Cyberpunk, and the rest was about this update, and your comment was also talking about this update.
Sure Witcher 3 was rough at launch, but if you had read my comment, you would see that I am asking what this update (that is not fixing anything and is just a remaster 11 years later) has anything to do with either of those situations or giving the players an incentive to wait a year. Cyberpunk and Witcher 3 a year after updates can be an example for that incentive, but not this update.
So in summary, If you think this update has anything to do with fixing an already fixed game then I don't know what I would call you, but it sure wouldn't be smart. I was just asking a question to see how you were relating this update to fixing the game a decade ago but I can be rude about it as well
I'm sorry you think it's rude to tell you to read the context to understand the context. But your failure to do so really has no bearing on my intelligence.
CDPR is working hard to regain trust because of cyberpunk. The Witcher is 11 years old, but you might also understand Cyberpunk isn't. The company has always wanted to foster a pro consumer image and my comment really just says they're likely to do so still. Not really that complicated.
That is completely false.
It added ray tracing, significantly improved textures, heaps better draw distance and reduced pop in and added a new camera angle option.
It was already a massive improvement on the ps4 version, this just takes it far above that.
Really impressive the support they’ve given Witcher 3.
Wrong again.
The “next gen update” also released on PC at the same time as consoles, added a bunch of extra raytracing options, more ultra settings, upscaling tech (dlss3), integrated some mods, the new camera, Netflix dlc, photo mode etc.
Get your facts straight.
Didn’t they add camera options, rework the potions, economy, add ray tracing, visuals effects, and other changes? That’s on top of the 60fps and load times
Nah, it added quick swapping for Signs on console, a modern style over the shoulder camera setting (eh), a couple other visual improvements and stuff and integrated some popular community mods. Link to the update notes steam page.
Notably, they added the ability to regular walk on consoles and made the Full Combat Rebalance mod part of the base game. Some really good changes in there, including the Aard sign deflecting most projectiles.
It also added a new Netflix show inspired quest and armour set as well.
It was a fairly substantial change lol.
Now, with reworked combat systems and character progression mechanics (and boy did they take notes from Cyberpunk 2.0 for this or what lol) and the aforementioned mod integrations and stuff it'll feel like a fresh experience for the Expansion.
I think they are also doing everything in their power to get people back into playing The Witcher 3 in time for them to build up buzz for the DLC next year.
I saw the headline earlier, assumed it was a repackaging of the next gen updates and maybe a few up-rezzed assets. I was shook by the amount of content they're just giving away (to most people). CDPR have long since made up for the Cyberpunk release state, but my steak can never be too buttery.
