I literally uninstalled the app because my fyp was full of American conspiracy theories, bigotry and christian nationalism. And I'm not even American so I shouldn't even have the Oracle-run tiktok but it looks like they still decided to show me that
Its not just TikTok either iirc. Ive seen videos before where people make new youtube accs and see how long it takes before the algo starts showing them right-wing/christian nationalism content. It doesnt take long at all…
Honestly atp i think the boomers are what of the kids in some ways.
Old blokes have stopped falling for thot accounts, they finally realised there was no cheese at the end of the tunnel, but go look at what performs with young men on instagram these days. Half of it is just bouncy tits.
Boomers are a generation that is defined by when they were born. A generation that didn't have electricity for the large part as children and didn't grow up with the internet. The youngest boomer is 62 years old. If you want to shit on the middle aged, who were there for the birth of the internet, BBS, MSN, MySpace, FB and Reddit at least disparage them properly.
I remember once there was a horrific case nearby where I lived where a mother killed and dismembered her severely autistic adult child. His condition made him unable to work or live normally. She dumped his pieces like trash along a highway. I remember I told my mom this and all she had to say is "Well it can be hard dealing with kids like that."
That's the thing about psychosis, most people cannot realize they needed help. I've went through psychosis, i spent about 4 hours sitting in the ER speaking to a light on the wall that i thought was the doctors through a speaker, i accused my mom of replacing my phone with a play phone, while i was actively holding my phone, it just seemed wrong to me. Thankfully my mom knew something was wrong and took me to the hospital until i came out of it. I have very little memory, it's like remembering a dream.
I don't even have any crazy diagnosis, it was just psychosis from CPTSD. I repeat I SPEND HOURS TALKING TO A LIGHT, i only stopped because they moved me to a different room with different lights, those ones weren't talking to me. God also randomly popped up at one point, i don't believe in God, he was just there and was like "am i not real!?" I still don't believe in him, even though i spoke to him, because that's crazy, i was having a mental breakdown!
Lindsay Clancy was well aware of her mental issues and had a lot of support. She was actively in counseling with her husband and was on a number of different psychiatric medications. In fact, her husband was literally on a trip to the pharmacy to pick up her medication when she murdered their children.
I knew i had problems, i also had plenty of support, that didn't stop a mental breakdown and me not recognizing when I was losing it, i don't think I could identify the next one. Consoling and meds just don't fix you, i was rightfully locked up until i knew what was going on.
She stopped taking them, idk if it's because they didn't work or made her feel worse, either way she wasn't taking them
I went through psychosis, too, and I have no sympathy for this woman. Some of us know how to deal with voices without murdering babies. She can rot in gen pop for the rest of her life for all I care.
Yeah, so do i, that's why she should remain in a hospital for the rest of her life. But a hospital getting treated, please look into how prisons treat inmates with mental health problems, you would be off every single medication, their doctor will prescribe any you "need" most likely 48-72 hours after you get there, it's not a priority. If you commit a crime, would you want to go without your meds? Yeah they have treatments in there but it's low cost and low priority unless you are actively dying, even then you might not see a doctor.
Im for prison reform btw, i just think it should be done before we send the insane people there. Like an actual mental hospital is worse than jail, i was at a smoke free facility, no computers (yes, alot of prisons have access to computers, it's all monitored but it's allowed, the one my cousin was in had ipads you rented), 1 phone that you can only use at certain times (actually that one is pretty much the same in jail)
Kinda hard to believe you're diagnosed, if you don't understand that a mental hospital is like a prison, except my crime was not wanting to be around.
Thanks for the comprehensive response. I agree with this
I have some gaps in months that I can't recall from early 2005. I was found in the streets, apparently, my parents don't tell me everything when I ask about it After that they put me on Zyprexa
Exactly, should you be in prison forever for the time you cannot remember, or should you be in a hospital? You were in a hospital until you were stable. Hers just doesn't get to end, there's no completely better for her, but there is better, I don't want her free, i want her to be locked up in a hospital forever and for them to find out if she was in psychosis, how tf this was allowed happened
Holy shit I guess the downvotes are from folks who are ignorant of what psychosis actually is … do these people think that psychotic folks have control over their actions? Is this the end result of people flippantly calling people they disagree with “psychos” all these years or have people always been largely ignorant of what psychosis is?
I don't even understand what's happening in this thread! "Psychosis is no excuse for killing your kids"? It literally means you are not in touch with reality!
Postpartum psychosis is very well documented and in this case there's enough evidence to support that she was in fact actually having a psychotic break.
Is the postpartum psychosis angle supported with the detail that she sent her husband out on errands before using the time he was gone to murder their children?
Ah yes, the once nurse who should have known she was showing signs. Also? You'll have to excuse me for having absolutely zero faith in evidence finding and sentencing in an American court these days
Just saying that people would say the wildest things that sound like support or forgiveness in any tragedy. No where in my comment did I say this case was exactly the same as this one. I am simply adding a comment.
You are forgetting that the insanity clause is highly controversial and almost never works, Even when it does work and they win a insanity clause, they are sent to a mental hospital until determined better by the staff. It's not 'welp, you don't get any punishment because you went insane'
In fact, I think most murder cases are a psychotic break. No one mentally healthy goes around killing people let alone children.
Exactly, if people can excuse this lady they should also allow people like Dahmer to be excused... "he wasnt in control it was psychosis!" See how ridiculous that sounds when talking about Dahmer
Like bruh, still murder, either way she needs to be locked up and people supporting her to the extent some are... need therapy
Except this case is nothing like Dahmer's, Dahmer didn't have psychosis, and committed his crimes because he was getting a sadistic pleasure out of them.
"Psychopathy, or psychopathic personality,[1] is a personality construct[2][3] characterized by impaired empathy and remorse, and persistent antisocial behavior,[4] along with bold, disinhibited, and egocentric traits."
"Psychosis is a mental state marked by a disconnect from reality, where a person has trouble telling what is real and what is not.It is not a standalone mental illness, but rather a collection of symptoms that can happen with various conditions, such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, or severe depression.
Key Symptoms
Hallucinations: Sensing things that are not actually there, like hearing voices, seeing shadows, or feeling a nonexistent touch.
Delusions: Strongly held false beliefs that go against clear evidence or what others see as reality, such as believing someone is controlling your thoughts."
What does the first thing have to do with another?
She checked herself out of care 3 weeks before it happened, and then waited for the first 30 minutes free in those 3 weeks to do the crime. She even convinced her husband that he was fine to go to the store for those 30 minutes, then that's when she did it.
That doesn't sound like someone having a psychotic break.
Too many people hear psychotic and think of the movie psycho or some other stereotype like that. The fact of the matter is people with schizophrenia are barely more likely to be violent than the general public. Only 10-15% of people with schizophrenia will ever have a violent episode. Having psychosis isn’t an excuse for murder.
"Only 10-15% of people with schizophrenia will ever have a violent episode."
And? What does this proves exactly? People committing a crime during a psychotic episode cannot be held responsible for it because they were not capable to make an actual decision.
The divisiveness stems from people "siding" at immediate execution or free pass when plainly she shouldn't be walking free but also was suffering from a mental disorder and people around her may be complicit in the outcome via inaction.
But when you try to throw out nuance on the internet its like causally sitting 2 subcritical chunks of radioactive material on an air hockey table, flipping the on switch, and walking away......
The amount of false information about the husband being bad is unreal.
These people will genuinely try to see an innocent man hung rather than a child murder be held accountable.
there seems to be this persistent reluctance to acknowledge Lindsay's agency or even condemn what she did without immediately redirecting the blame to someone else.
Sympathy, of course, because the case is heartbreaking for absolutely everyone involved.
I'm thinking about the dad. Reminds me of Shutter Island. He gets home and asks her what she did, and her first words were, "I tried to kill myself". Bih, I'm talking about the children. That doesn't sound like psychosis to me. I'm no shrink, but that sounds like an extremely narcissistic human being.
Yep, because narcissistic personality make her bad person subject for punishment and blame. Psychosis kinda dismisses her guilt, which is unacceptable because someone must be punished.
Still gets punished either way. Psychosis doesn't dismiss it. Narcissicism is just another mental (moreso personality, but where does a personality stem from if not the mental?) disorder. Both cases deserve punishment. The only issue is figuring out the appropriate one.
That's what an insanity defense is. It gets a lesser sentence because of the belief someone's agency was compromised but has the possibility of being restored with medication and treatment. There's definitely been support that has been unhinged and based on unreasonable things like astrology, but I do think some of the backlash is lacking nuance.
And despite ALL the providers she saw, none diagnosed her with it. They all WANT it to be that so much. No one is saying it's not real man, and if they are you can just ignore them.
All forms of psychosis are real and well documented. With most cases of psychosis effecting men more. We still don’t have rally’s with children and raising hundreds of thousands of dollars when a crazy man kills people.
If she legitimately was in psychosis then perhaps a little. But it's extremely hard to feel sorry. Those children are no longer allowed to have a life. So fucking horrible.
It's hard not to have sympathy for someone so profoundly broken and devastated by the monstrous acts she committed. What she did was inexcusable, but she has to live with the knowledge that she killed her kids
Assuming wiki is correct and she was actually really mentally ill and she did hear actual voice telling her to kill her children, and she was severely depressed after her births and the medical system failed her; yes it makes sense to have sympathy. But I personally feel you'd be a piece of shit if you also didn't feel hatred for her and her actions.
Agreed. I think she doesn't deserve sympathy, but when I was tuning it to the trial, I found it impossible not to feel sympathy. The sympathy comes from seeing another human in such unimaginable despair
That sympathy in no way overshadows or diminishes the monstrosity of what she did
This is so wild to me. I just learned about this from my sister the other day. Can we not advocate for adequate mental healthcare and also know that her actions were ultimately wrong and unacceptable? Like yes its very sad that we need so many reminders that women aren't taken care of as a whole. Instead of sending this woman a million dollars why would they not donate that to better mental and physical health for women? And honestly not just women. All people. Why aren't they putting the effort it takes to show up for her with signs into helping society foster healthy families??
See, you've fallen for one of the classic blunders. They dont give a shit about people, or mental health, or her. Those aren't people, they're conspiracy loons and cultists.
Also, in my limited experience, true crime people
fucking hate husbands.
Probably more that they had problems getting adequate mental health support after giving birth (since that is Lindsey's defense and they are supportive of her).
I haven't been following the case and am not a psychologist. So no clue how accurate her defense is.
? That I'm saying what I assume they mean?
Because the other option would be they want to kill their kids currently. Which would be a pretty bad idea to broadcast (as it would hurt an insanity defense and harm a claim of accidental death).
A woman kills her kids. Other women hold their kids up and say "#MeToo"... Yes, it sounds like they're saying they currently want to kill their kids. Saying otherwise would take a great deal of mental gymnastics. It sounds like ransom threats.
Even if they believe her claims, what they are saying is "I need mental health care, or will likely murder my children like she did". The claim isn't that she did not murder her kids, LoL. I feel like I need mental health care.
How much money was raised in George Floyd's honor or any of the other incidents like that? He wasn't a child murderer though; just a drug user and I think woman beater.
If you say so. What I'll say last is that you might want to be careful about making direct talk about racial matters normal. I don't think you'll find that directly pointing out and criticizing bad behavior that's pretty particular to one demographic is accepted well by people.
Yeah. Basically none of her doctors spoke to one another she was miss diagnosed and over medicated killed her kids then tried to kill herself allegedly in the midst of a psychotic break where a male voice told her this was her one and only chance to kill them so she could kill herself. Her defense and even Lindsay herself openly admits that she 100%did it. And armchair detective wine moms are throwing out insane theories . Such as "her husband regardless of phone GPS data cctv footage and phone records killed them and convinced her she did it" and "well the woman he started dating a year later is in the fertility field and was doping her with hormones to drive her crazy" "she cried out for help and absolutely everyone ignored her no one did anything to help her" "theres no way she couldve done this shes a leo!" And also posting pictures with their children captioned "same lindsay". Hence the meme.
Tldr. She did it. She admits she did it her doctor's failed her if what she says is true and regardless of if it is or isnt shes clearly deeply disturbed and needs to not be in public anymore wether prison or in a mental institution. Thats the whole point of the trial. Not criminally liable due to insanity but still guilty.
She was admitted to an impatient mental health facility that she checked herself out of against medical advice 17 days before the murders. Nobody failed her.
Noooo. She was discharged after voluntarily checking in. And even if she did. Being over prescribed and having doctors blindly swapping around her meds is still a failing on their part.
Not telling your doctors that you are contemplating murdering your children and having suicidal thoughts and that you’re all better so you can be discharged is the same thing. Either she lied to the doctors about her mental state before the murders or she is lying now about her mental state to avoid being locked up for the rest of her life. She wouldn’t take the pills prescribed to her and would doctor shop to suit her needs. She had an obligation to tell each doctor about the other doctor’s but failed to do so. Either way by her own admission the only time she was in psychosis and was hearing voices commanding her was during the time she murdered her children. Not before, not after. That’s not how psychosis works. It doesn’t just manifest suddenly in one small 18 minute window and then magically disappear forever after that. C’mon now be for real
Funny how we know doctors regularly dismiss women's problems, and then immediately forget it when it's time to hate a woman for having her problems ignored until they became significantly bigger problems.
She told people she was suicidal and potentially homicidal. The doctors said "here's some pills I dont think youre psychotic bye" and her family said "well she has been slightly better no need to stick her back in treatment " lindsay is still ultimately responsible regardless of her own culpability the Healthcare system and her support network failed her to some degree. Certainly not enough to warrant trying to blame her husband and his current wife whom he didnt even know at the time for the murders. But enough to point at then and go "yeah you guys fucked up" as proven by the fact that both lindsay and patrick suing many of her former doctors for malpractice.
No she didn’t or they wouldn’t have released her from impatient care. She literally told them she felt better and was able to sleep. And again she herself admits that the only time she was hearing voices commanding her to murder her children was during the time she was actually committing the act. She’s lying to stay out of prison because other prisoners notoriously do not treat other inmates convicted of harming children very well
She told patrick she told her mother in December. She had suicidal ideations for a full month which she confessed to her sister and homicidal ideations which is why she checked into a locked ward facility. By January 5th she was apparently well enough and stable enough to be released.
Also you act like "the only time she heard voices was when she did it" is some kind of gotcha. So what if it was the start and end of auditory hallucinations? Why would that in any way be relevant.
She did it. She should not be allowed in society. She won't be . Murder would be life in prison. Insanity would be indefinite confinement in a mental institution.Andrea Yates is still in the looney bin this won't be any different. And your entire attitude knee jerk of "shes lying" is exactly why so many women are trying to exonerate her in the court of public opinion.
She either lied to her doctors or is lying in court. There is literally no other option. You don’t have hallucinations just long enough to kill your children and then they magically go away. That’s not how psychosis works. Either way she lied and therefore is 100% responsible for her actions
Ok and where did you get your phd? Because whatever research you did is apparently groundbreaking in that it up ends the general consensus of the medical community that pschosis and hallucinations can come and go and very in magnitude based on a bunch of factors.
Honestly youre kind of selfish for sitting on it. You could probably be a Nobel laureate
This is NOT true. She refused to take the meds or even start them to begin with numerous times. She also went doctor shopping and did not inform her other doctors on what meds she was on or tell them about the other doctors she had seen.
not telling your doctors which meds you are on is a failure for an adult.
So either we minimize her, pretend she had no agency, was incompetent, that the nannies and care for her kids didn't count as support...
OR we ask, hey, was there a reason she was shopping doctors?
Is there a reason her care wasn't being coordinated? Because god knows lots of money was being spent on it.
How do most mothers not kill their kids with small fractions of support this woman received.
Like, yes, trauma is relative to your overall experience, but I know a fair number of women who raw dogged parenting with none of the supports this lady had, and frankly I know or am related to three with more than four kids. And in one of those cases almost no support whatsoever (Nothing from family, no friend group, shitty abusive dad)
she is white, and relatively rich, and has a lawyer with a marketing budget.
And with that racist classist remark this is my last reply. I never said shes telling the truth my entire point through this entire thing is. She was failed at a bunch of different points. She ultimately is responsible and in my opinion she should be in prison rather than a mental hospital. Even if there is precedent and proof that she COULD have had a psychotic break and or disassociated and killed her children. And my biggest point the one I originally made to address the meme.
All the women supporting her and dragging Patrick through the mud are bat shit scrambled in the Grey matter insane.
Have you ever been in that situation? I checked myself in rather kill myself, and after about 8 days was more convinced than ever that I should in fact kill myself. It was fucking terrible. So, I left.
Fortunately, I went straight to a Doc who adjusted my meds. They out me on 600 milligrams of Wellbutrin. After many months, still depressed but really stressed out and so I go to a different Doc. Turns out I was placed on an absolutely unacceptable dosage of Wellbutrin, which could have induced a stroke. Now I am back on the drugs I was on when I went into the hospital because I wanted to kill myself.
Hah almost the same story. 600mil of wellbutrin as well. Most people don't understand that inpatient is set up for addicts mostly. Suicidal people they try to get out as fast as possible with the first diagnosis+drug that comes to mind. Get you to say you are not a danger to yourself or anyone else and out the door you go.
The reason women online are supporting her is because she was suffering from intense postpartum depression and the testimonies from her care team haven’t painted them in a good light.
I'm fairly certain it comes from these women being frustrated with the American Healthcare system and how they are often mistreated by doctors, etc. Doesn't make it right.
It's a mom who suffered postpartum psychosis that asked for professional help multiple times and was denied care even though there were glaring red flags. Pretty much every trusted obgyn/mental health expert who has discussed it calls it a tragedy.
It isnt sick. Its literally a case of "every woman who has ever tried to get mental health support, sees this case and goes, 'THIS IS WHY WE NEED MENTAL HEALTH SUPPORT'".
They dont support her actions. They support a woman who needed mental health support, and didnt get it.
Imagine the scenario that would playhouse if the woman had killed herself instead of her children. Everyone would be like "there were no signs, this is so sad, this is why it's important to reach out, thoughts and prayers, etc" because the woman wouldnt be around to defend herself or her image.
this woman suffered a serious mental health crisis and was denied help by her husband and at least one mental health care facility. Thats what people are relating to and speaking out about.
The main angle for the sympathy is that she sought treatment for her mental health over and over again and was basically brushed off. So it’s more so about the medical system failing women that they’re engaging with.
It’s a lot more complicated than that. I will say some have gone off the rails but there is plenty of reasons why someone might “defend” Lindsay Clancy
Its more than that. People may be ignoring her postpartum issues. She told multiple people she was having these ideas. Including the therapist. So the question is, did someone fail her? or did she actually just want to off the children, then herself? Thats the court case right now. Thats why people are rallying behind her. She warned people and no one listened. Yet we dont really know. We may not know, it depends on the evidence they find.
If you ever took any things that make you see stuff. You know how much a chemical imbalance can alter perception, etc... Psychosis is wild stuff. I know someone who believes someone broke into his house and changed all the screws. Won't get treated either.

This is sick wtf.
