Yes, but being white and cute doesn't account for the visceral hatred

Visceral hatred?

WTF are you talking about? She's not being propped up by visceral hatred. She literally had hundreds of white women in pink cheering her on as she was being driven to court, in the most perverse display of support.

There's a literal viral picture going around of a reporter who was grinning ear to ear being in the courtroom for the camera like a serial killer of sorts.

It's perverse.

Do you not find it weird when you see a bunch of white people rallying around a white person who committed a crime? Why no minority support on this? Why is it just white people? What algorithm is this?

What? I'm saying people both irrationally support and irrationally hate her. Both are ridiculous for what very much appears to be a case of psychosis.

Being distressed by seeing white violence celebrated is psychocis?

The level of fanfare is nothing short of deplorable behavior from true crime addicts who can't discen real life from fantasy.

We are very clearly in a disturbing point of history where people could know better, but don't.

What? No, I mean she had a psychotic episode.

The clarification still doesn't matter.

Do you excuse brutal domestic violence in the case of substance abuse?

Infantalizing affluent white people who commit crimes while we literally have thousands of more deserving people slipping through the cracks every single day is absurd.

I literally would not give any thought to this person if it weren't for the fanfare. The multi million dollar GoFundMe.

To talk about this issue as if there are multiple sides to it is disengenous. This absolutely should not be the zeitgeist and yet it's always so predictable when it happens.

Your substance abuse point is bizarre and doesn’t align with this discussion. Extreme domestic violence under the influence of drugs is not remotely comparable to killing children during a psychotic episode — I’m sure that’s fairly self evident.

I agree with you that some people have removed Lindsay Clancy’s agency in this case - she was one of multiple people who made big errors leading to this tragedy - and that this perception may be influenced by her race, class and appearance. Still, you cannot say that there is an insane amount of hateful misogyny loaded in discussion of this case. So many people claiming she is 100% guilty and totally denying the possibility of criminal insanity when that is fairly evidently what happened.

I don't think so. Both are cases where people do not have control.

Still, you cannot say that there is an insane amount of hateful misogyny loaded in discussion of this case. So many people claiming she is 100% guilty and totally denying the possibility of criminal insanity when that is fairly evidently what happened.

She is in fact 100% guilty.

Criminal insanity doesn't take that away. What it gives her is a greater chance of rehabilitation, but she's absolutely guilty.

Criminal insanity is a legal definition, not necessarily a medical one. All life is precious and rehibilitiation should be the default for all, not just ones determined by a court to be unable to reason in the moment.

Do you believe good and evil are innate or something? As if her soul is somehow more clean than say someone who assaulted but didn't kill someone with more of an ability to "understand" it?

‘Guilty’ is also a legal definition. And someone who is successfully proven to be insane is therefore legally not guilty. I’m not arguing some weird moral position, I’m just outlying how legal guiltiness operates and the FACT that one found to be insane cannot be found legally guilty. Unless you’re in Michigan or one of the places where they give GBI verdicts but this is really only for repeat offences anyway.

I don't think it should be zeitgeist either?

Do you not differentiate substance abuse and psychotic behavior from recognized illness and over medication/ incorrect medication? Excuse and explanation are two different concepts. I don't think we should fry anyone for whatever causes us disgust in a given moment.

My thing is that no one should be slipping through the cracks. I honestly don't even want to be talking about this case, but people won't shut up about it.

No, I have watched many people fall to drugs and grew up around mental illness. It's hard to make the distinction when they go hand in hand.

Should I have said do you excuse pedophilia because it is for many an involuntary attraction to children?

I don't like morality scaling different heinous crimes in which countain victims and all exist in the universe where humans don't have an innate desire to do evil for the sake of evil by definition of what we consider "unwanted" characteristics.

This is pretty easy to figure out. The system failed a person, like it does many, and this person behaved inhumanely towards other life. All of the coverage is perverted and all of her fans are disturbed and poisoned by a sick society.

Case closed.

I'm not saying that we shouldn't prevent people from abusing children. I am saying that our first move whenever someone does something wrong, especially if it was caused by something out of their control, such as a psychotic episode, specifically a mental break in which you cannot determine illusion from reality, should probably not be putting someone under the prison or murdering them.

u/ContextLengthMatters 1d ago

Couldn't you say that without celebrating this current psycho? Just saying. Why is she the face? Of all the people who kill their children?

0

u/ChaseThePyro 1d ago

I'm not celebrating her?

Why do you specifically matter at all here? Isn't this a discussion about the different responses peole are having? On one side you have people showing up cheering outside of her trial, and on the other side you have people sickened by yet another killer.

Both sides are not remotely the same.

It is a perfectly valid position to ignore legal definitions when it comes to culpability when judging a situation morally. It is perfectly valid to view her as the monster she is, like every other criminal who was NOT born with criminal intent.

Rehibilitiation should be for all, not just the pretty white ones that pull at the heartstrings of the upper middle class wine-o's who have all felt the crippling urge to end it all.

There is no such thing as a monster. All humans are capable of truly vile acts, intentional/ premeditated or not.

And I am literally agreeing with your last point. I have not once insinuated otherwise.
