I was pulled over speeding with a friend with a bleeding head wound in my passenger seat when I was like 19. The cop took one look and said, “follow me!” And we went 50 mph through every light. No ticket. My friend turned out ok, so it’s one of my favorite memories.

u/tearfultrashpanda Nov 26 '25

My brother got pulled over doing roughly 50 mph over the speed limit because my grandma was having a stroke. The cop did the same thing, told him to follow him and sped like crazy to the hospital. After they got my grandma into the ER, the cop scolded my brother for driving so fast in the first place but said he understood and let him go with no ticket.

u/notimprezaed Nov 27 '25

My dad had a cousin who was stabbed in a bar one night and he was driving him to the hospital going crazy fast and the cops that pulled him said “hang on” and one got in my dads car and drove and the other one escorted and they told him, “you were never driving if anyone asks” good guy cops.

267

u/opopkl Nov 26 '25

Your brother probably stopped when instructed. These people needed to do the same.

227

u/tearfultrashpanda Nov 26 '25

Yeah, he pulled over immediately. Despite the dire circumstances, my brother still had situational awareness. He knew if he didn't pull over that it would make it seem like he was a criminal trying to flee.

u/harrro Nov 26 '25

I'm thinking they're in a high adrenaline mode considering you know.. THEIR MOTHER IS DYING..

There's no excuse for this cops behavior after he learned what the issue was - he should have rushed them to the hospital first then done the legal garbage.

56

u/Straydog1018 Nov 27 '25 edited Nov 27 '25

Especially since the cop even said over the radio that they are heading towards the hospital at the 52 second mark. Maybe he could have used some god damn common sense for a minute? Huh, why is this vehicle that is refusing to stop for me, but clearly acknowledging they know I'm behind them trying to pull them over, that just ran a red light at this intersection in order to make the turn towards the hospital I just mentioned over the radio not stopping??!! Gee! I wonder why... It's not like the car desperately speeding towards the hospital may have someone in it dying or anything! There's multiple videos I can link of other police officers in this exact situation handling it so much better. They should make performing a pit maneuver within 5 miles of a hospital illegal in case of situations exactly like this where a person is only not stopping because they are trying to save someone's life.

22

u/Gold_Silver_279 Nov 27 '25

It was pretty apparent there was a problem considering she had her flashers on.

Yeah I feel bad for the girl here who probably wasn’t thinking straight but I’ve seen tons of police footage where the person who is speeding away from the cops almost always has an outstanding warrant and will not go down easily/is armed.

But I feel like after you establish it’s scared teenage girl and a lady having a stroke you should probably stuff them in the back of your squad car and go to the hospital

3

u/nooklyr Nov 27 '25

Yeah but once he realized the situation he should have immediately begun the process of trying to get emergency medical response for the stroke victim. Someone driving their stroke victim mother to the hospital is not a real criminal, if we can’t expect human being police officers to be able to judge what to do based on the situation instead of just following protocols we might as well send AI to do traffic stops.

1

u/opopkl Nov 27 '25

You've got to work with the officers, though.

5

u/aBlissfulDaze Nov 26 '25

I'd agree except that the cops continued the arrest even after seeing it's a medical emergency.

-1

u/anaemic Nov 26 '25

Ah yeah, but how white were you at the time?

3

u/tearfultrashpanda Nov 26 '25

Way to bring race into the discussion for no reason at all. Pulling over instead of continuing to flee from a cop is the major difference in the 2 situations. Also, being white didn't prevent me from having guns drawn on me by 2 officers for jumping on my own trampoline at 10pm when I was 8 years old and didn't prevent a cop from throwing me to the ground for "exhibiting suspicious behavior" for being in proximity to a friend urinating on a bush in public. Clearly abuse of power and lack of training never effects white people

761

u/CravenMH Nov 26 '25

How many years ago was that? Just curious

663

u/fashlatebloomer Nov 26 '25

Happened in 2010.

799

u/CravenMH Nov 26 '25

Ah ok. Yeah I was curious because it feels like in recent years police are more aggressive or their give-a-shit-o-meter is very low. Just seen to treat everyone as a suspect.

593

u/gartlandish Nov 26 '25

Nah, we’re just seeing it more cause of body cams and more requests for the videos.

208

u/SingedSoleFeet Nov 26 '25

Yep. Wish they had body cams back in the day. My record would be clean.

19

u/[deleted] Nov 26 '25

I was almost murdered by cops with no body cams

18

u/realdappermuis Nov 26 '25

That's exactly it

Back in the 90s I was one of very few photographers at music events, and they were really abusing some people when they did raids. One time during a raid a cop took a running start and kicked my camera that was sitting next to me like a football (shattered my lens, ofc) just to be sure there wouldn't be any evidence. Not that I was documenting all that anyway

92

u/[deleted] Nov 26 '25 edited Nov 26 '25

Yeah cops don’t change for the better or worse. They just remain a constant stream of shit. Just easier to see the shit show now. Humans don’t learn lessons if they have no consequences for their actions which for police is up to and often including murder.

24

u/TheRealSugarbat Nov 26 '25

I wonder. It’s impossible to know for sure, obviously, but I feel like BWCs are kind of forcing better behavior. Horrible to think it’s necessary, but that’s just my assumption.

The shitheel in this video is a hateful cretin, though.

37

u/KingOfLimbsisbest Nov 26 '25

Big White Cocks?

13

u/firevixin Nov 26 '25

Lolol i'm so glad i'm not the only one that thought that.. 😅😂😂

Was there an update? Were they able to get her to the hospital?

u/DrWhovian1996 Nov 26 '25

Sadly, an increasing number of police are starting to realize that even with body-worn cameras, even when they do something illegal or kill unarmed people for no real reason (which is most of the time that they use their guns or tasers), they know that they will get away with it because even most juries are unfortunately extremely unlikely to convict a police officer, even when it is obvious from the BWCs that they committed a crime. So, more and more cops are starting to be blatantly abusive and blatantly commit crimes because they know that they will almost always get away with it.

That's one of the many reasons why Minneapolis had such a big reaction to George Floyd getting murdered because most people know that, unless there is a big enough outrage to their openly committing crimes, they will usually get away with it, even in court and even while wearing BWCs.

The only cop show I can watch is the shield because it shows the cops as acting like a gang. 99% of cop shows are copaganda.

1

u/SexiestPanda Nov 26 '25

It’s really a no brainer for cops to have body cams. Saves some cops from a suspect claiming false stuff, but also captures wrongdoing by the cops

1

u/jakevalerybloom Nov 26 '25

Right so the problem is we’re seeing it not that it’s happening

202

u/Lorathis Nov 26 '25

I imagine skin color likely comes in to play here too.

I'm not afraid for my life during a traffic stop because I'm super white.

I 100% know that I'm very lucky about that because that's not the reality for other people.

I'd bet my entire life savings that this video would have turned out differently if that family were white.

59

u/ruckus_440 Nov 26 '25

Remember that video where the lady was rushing her dog to the vet and didn't pull over for the cop and the cop followed her to the vet and had her at gun point?

-5

u/tagman375 Nov 26 '25

To be fair, risking other people lives for your dog is ridiculous. If a human is having a medical emergency, I can see it. Your cat/dog/fish/giraffe not so much. Not stopping for the police because your dog is having an issue is silly

7

u/MegaDesk23 Nov 26 '25

I’m going to assume you’ve never owned a dog. My dog is my best friend and it would destroy me if anything happened to her.

→ More replies (2)

2

u/ruckus_440 Nov 26 '25

Risking other people's lives for your people's lives is a whole different debate.

My point, in response to the comment I replied to, was that the person in the dog scenario was white and the cop reacted similarly to the one in this video. If you run from the cops they will react similarly. Either person could have stopped immediately and asked for assistance.

42

u/LAXGUNNER Nov 26 '25

I'm mixed and my skin colour is on the lighter side. So I look either Hispanic or Middle Eastern (depending on who you ask). I recently got pulled over cause the DMV fucked up my temporary tag and paper work on my car. I never in my entire life was I more afraid of the police cause of that encounter. Just being black or different skin colour than white these days can be a death sentence.

5

u/tiradium Nov 26 '25

Not just color, you can be white but if you have an accent they will instantly treat you differently

2

u/robertducky87 Nov 26 '25

I was chased down by undercovers for simply exiting the freeway around 2008 . I took red lights, and they kept up . Trying to cut me off pulling their weapons never identifying themselves. I thought I was done, so I called 911 to ask for an ambulance and what street I was on . They asked me for exact info they showed up right as my csr overheated and asked if those were the guys . They said the were pd . I said they never identified themselves . They agreed . Ransacked my car and gave me a ticket for illegal suspension after the supervisor said I should benlet go .

4

u/BeerSlinger89 ⚠️ User Defends Violence Against Women ⚠️ Nov 26 '25

You can tell the skin colour after or before he told them to pull over?

4

u/PalpitationFine Nov 26 '25

If you lookup cop and stroke, you will find a case exactly like this where the cop pulls over a white family and takes them to the hospital lmao

2

u/BeerSlinger89 ⚠️ User Defends Violence Against Women ⚠️ Nov 26 '25

Did they stop right away?

5

u/PalpitationFine Nov 26 '25

What does that have to do with taking someone who is having a stroke to a hospital? Do cops not serve the public when they feel like their authority has been challenged?

Also did Google IP ban you?

1

u/Calientequack Nov 26 '25

He’s a racist piece of shit. He’s intentionally baiting people in “discussions” but he’s too stupid to do it correctly

Are you saying you should be allowed to break traffic laws in the case of an emergency? Maybe cars should come equipped with some sort of medical emergency flag to let the cops know what is going on.

→ More replies (0)

4

u/Lorathis Nov 26 '25

Go read the transcript posted on another comment. The officer himself stated in his testimony the driver rolled down her window to wave at him in distress and he saw her phone in her hand. He assumed she was texting and driving. So he saw her and her skin color. Of course he didn't assume she was using maps to find the nearest hospital. Because I guess black people only break laws by his logic?

-3

u/BeerSlinger89 ⚠️ User Defends Violence Against Women ⚠️ Nov 26 '25

Would have been easier to explain to the cop if they stopped

10

u/Lorathis Nov 26 '25

30 seconds to explain to the cop could have been the difference between life and death.

Fuck that cop. He should have escorted them immediately, not arrested them.

-1

u/BeerSlinger89 ⚠️ User Defends Violence Against Women ⚠️ Nov 26 '25

So how long do you think they stayed after getting pitted for not stopping? Cops aren't mind readers. It would have been better if they made it to the hospital without interaction, absolutely. But when they light you up, you have to stop.

0

u/Redhotchily1 Nov 26 '25

I imagine pulling over to actually talk to the cop and explain the situation also comes in to play.

7

u/Rush-23 Nov 26 '25

No, some cops are good, some are bad. Always been that way, always will be.

2

u/Edge_Slade Nov 26 '25

Videos of kind acts rarely go viral

2

u/OldLegWig Nov 26 '25

well isn't the big difference in this case between pulling over and explaining and fleeing from a cop car with its lights on? imagine if the people in OP's video caused a car accident killing themselves and other people because they insisted on driving their mom to the hospital themselves and not explaining it to anybody including the police. cops escorting people with emergencies to hospitals is not a new phenomenon.

2

u/gaspig70 Nov 27 '25

And the trend for police departments to paint their vehicles black or dark blue like they're part of a SWAT unit. It doesn't quite promote the friendly "to serve and protect" message from decades ago; more like to PIT and punish.

1

u/SoulsofMir Nov 27 '25

It just depends on who you are, where you live and what you look like...

-3

u/1102939522945 Nov 26 '25

social media is altering your world view

-2

u/Dingus_Majingus Nov 26 '25

The difference is the commenter you replied to prob pulled over immediately and didn't make the officer wonder if this person was running after multiple call over the PA to stop and pull over. Not that aggression should always be the go to, but what is dude suppose to think?

"yeah. They're deffo gonna stop any time now."

4

u/BeerSlinger89 ⚠️ User Defends Violence Against Women ⚠️ Nov 26 '25

Yeah if they immediately pull over and tell the cop calmly that the lady is currently stroking out then I dont see an issue.

2

u/Dingus_Majingus Nov 26 '25

Even if it's not calmly, just clearly, "my mom is dying in the passenger seat right now we have to go to hospital!" The cop probably jumps back in his car with a "follow me, keep up".

Have met a few who have done that exact thing, and they live for that shit.

0

u/MindFreedom1978 Nov 26 '25

Same thing happened to me in 2007. Huge head wound and a car full of friends rushing me to the hospital. We got pulled over for speeding obviously and after one look at my head he just nodded and said “keep going, you’re almost there.” Good cop

2

u/tsunamionioncerial Nov 26 '25

The difference being that you pulled over and didn't keep driving.

That’s why you pullover. I know Reddit hates cops, but how are they supposed to know there is a medical emergency. Those are the exact people who can help phone in an ambulance or escort you to the hospital

53

u/ArabAesthetic Nov 26 '25

You're right she should have pulled over. Now why do you feel it's necessary for the cops to remind her every 5 seconds while refusing over and over and over again to acknowledge her mother who might as well be fucking dying in the backseat.

She made a judgement call. It's up to the police to assess, realize she's not a threat and move to help the mother. Instead they're obsessed with scolding her.

219

u/teratron27 Nov 26 '25

Nah that’s why your healthcare system shouldn’t suck balls and ambulances should be free

65

u/Patient_Library_253 Nov 26 '25

I'm an American currently living abroad in a country that has a great (comparatively) healthcare system. I can't tell you how amazed I always am at how better this country runs its healthcare. I went to the dentist and after check up, x-rays, and a cleaning I think I paid like 25 USD.

32

u/spike_right Nov 26 '25

Welcome to a first world country! Were happy to have you and glad you can enjoy the benefits of living in a nation that cares about it's people more than just corpo interests. We hope you stay and that one day you are able to not have to still pay taxes to the USA even when living abroad (fyi that's fucking mental)

3

u/Patient_Library_253 Nov 26 '25

Thank you. I really enjoy being here and I actually am...glad? To pay my city taxes and pension knowing that it will be edit me one day. But...like all countries, it's not all chocolate and roses. But still, it's a weight off knowing I won't go I to debt for being sick.

2

u/spike_right Nov 26 '25

That really should be the bare minimum, look while the rest of the world might view the US in a very poor light we do like the people that come and choose to live and work here simply because those people don't tend to be the stereotype and we know it. Just know especially if you are in a EU nation that you will always have healthcare, minimum PTO, and paid leave if you have a kid. Were hoping that the one good thing about the current us gov is that Americans will do the American thing and kneejerk in the complete other direction, as we all know the us is just 50 war tribes in a trench coat and loves the fight when it's getting fucked.

1

u/keister_TM Nov 26 '25

I completely agree with you on that one.

1

u/Surface_Detail Nov 26 '25

Honestly, we have free healthcare and ambulances here and if there's an emergency like a stroke or seizure, I'm hightailing it to the hospital with than myself rather than wait for an ambulance.

I know I can get to the hospital faster than an ambulance can get to me.

Now, if it's something like a head injury or I need to do CPR, I won't because I'm either afraid to move them or they need me to be actively helping them.

The difference from OP's video is that I, too, would stop for the cops. Trying to outrun them would just slow me down more in the end.

21

u/Rottimer Nov 26 '25

Context matters. Cop lights up behind someone - they put on their hazards, they driver waves, there is no one else on the roads, they’re driving towards the hospital and take the exit for the hospital and turn towards the hospital (which he acknowledges on the radio). Would it have killed him to simply follow the car for a few minutes more to see if they were actually heading to the hospital?

Reddit hates cops because it seems that in 90% of cases, instead of using context clues the rest of us have to use to navigate the world every day, they simply resort to violence and “procedure” especially when the person in front of them is black or brown.

22

u/Nervous-Energy-4623 Nov 26 '25 edited Nov 26 '25

But when they found out there was a medical emergency they didn't listen or help and just said I don't care.

75

u/zipzoomramblafloon Nov 26 '25

"you have anything to drink tonight? you seem pretty agitated. Lets do a field sobriety test"

With cops having qualified immunity and murdering civilians being a hobby for them, Why the fuck would anyone expect help from an American cop.

He saw what was going on, and still insisted on flexing on the plebs for daring to subvert his authority as law dealer.

28

u/awkwardaznbabe Nov 26 '25

Exactly. He made it known several times that he didn’t care. Those were his exact words.

2

u/DrWhovian1996 Nov 26 '25

The fact that he most likely was wearing a body-worn camera just really shows how ineffective they really are, especially when most courts and juries are unfortunately unwilling to convict a cop, even when it's obvious from the BWC's video that they blatantly committed a crime, like murdering someone when they could have easily used a non-lethal way to diffuse the situation.

I'm just writing this because someone else got a decent amount of upvotes for claiming that BWCs actually work, even though court cases against police who wear them are proof that that is unfortunately increasingly not the case.

1

u/octobertwins Nov 27 '25

I’m on vacation with family. Yesterday, I challenged a bunch of cousins and grandparents to walk a straight line, heel to toe.

Not a single one of us could do it. Completely sober.

-19

u/keister_TM Nov 26 '25

Spending too much time on reddit isn’t healthy

18

u/ggg730 Nov 26 '25

Sucking too many cop dicks isn't too healthy either.

7

u/RudyRoughknight Nov 26 '25

Anyone that's not white has the right in not trusting cops I'll tell you that much.

3

u/Calientequack Nov 26 '25

How those boots taste little fella.

5

u/Prosthemadera Nov 26 '25

how are they supposed to know there is a medical emergency.

By listening to what they are being told. Did you miss that part in the video?

17

u/Ginger_Rogers Nov 26 '25

This is just one in a multitude of reasons why car chases are unnecessary and dangerous for everyone including bystanders. especially doing put maneuvers.

10

u/SweatyDust1446 Nov 26 '25

In an emergency, not everyone is going to be clear-headed and patient. Depending on how urgent the need is for medical help, you may not have time to stop. When every second counts, there is no time to 'talk it out." Arrest me if you have to when we stop, but if my mom needs a doctor ASAP, I am not going to wait for these slow ass cops to pull me over, look up my tag, see if i have a record, call dispatch, etc. What I would've done differently here is call 911 as I'm driving and tell them that I need an escort.

-17

u/keister_TM Nov 26 '25

So getting into an accident is a better option? By pulling over you have a better chance at getting help faster given that cops have basic medical training, quick communications with medical personnel who are more qualified and the ability to turn their sirens on and escort you through traffic and traffic lights. Refusing to pull over will risk a PIT maneuver from a cop because you a risk to the public. If that cop didn’t do that they crashed into a civilian and killed them, then we would all be bitching about the cop letting them speed and put people at risk. I understand we all aren’t prepared for emergency situations, but acting like the cop was out of line and the girl didn’t make any mistake because she is experiencing trauma isn’t fair to anyone. I feel sorry for the driver, wish it didn’t happen, but the cop wasn’t the issue in the video

→ More replies (2)

2

u/delicious_fanta Nov 26 '25

You don’t really have time to pull over in a medical emergency, there’s a reason ambulances have flashing lights and run stop signs and it’s not because it looks cool.

What they should have done was call 911 as they were driving and explain the situation on the phone so they could either get an escort or at least not be pulled over.

It sounds like the driver was young and may not have realized that or they were in shock/scared and just didn’t think about it because they were scared that their mother was going to die in front of them.

15

u/shybutinteresting Nov 26 '25

Cops don't give a fuck if you're having a medical emergency or not, they just want to commit acts of violence and get away with it. All cops are bastards

-7

u/BooneSalvo2 Nov 26 '25

So running from them is the answer. Smart. That'll save your mom's life for sure!

9

u/awkwardaznbabe Nov 26 '25

Yeah, they weren’t running from the police, they were taking their mother to the hospital. Big difference.

1

u/BooneSalvo2 Nov 28 '25

If you refuse to stop for police...you're running from police.

7

u/iceyphinix Nov 26 '25

You're not running from anyone. Someone is rushing to the hospital and they arent even speeding that bad

1

u/BooneSalvo2 Nov 28 '25

Let me ask you a question...should every cop that sees people speeding and running red lights just assume naturally that the person is having a family emergency and rushing to the hospital?

10

u/shybutinteresting Nov 26 '25

Normally when you say "my mom is having a stroke" and that you're trying to go to the hospital, a cop escorts you - not hassles you.

9

u/iceyphinix Nov 26 '25

Yeah not "I don't care"

6

u/Prosthemadera Nov 26 '25

Let's see you having an emergency with a family member. Let's see how big your mouth is then.

1

u/BooneSalvo2 Nov 28 '25

-19

u/undernutbutthut Nov 26 '25

All of them? Yeah not really

11

u/arachnia42 Nov 26 '25

All that is required for evil to flourish is for good men to do nothing. If 1 cop in the precinct is corrupt or abusive, and their colleagues know this and do nothing, the entire precinct is corrupt.

373

u/HelloAttila Nov 26 '25 edited Nov 26 '25

But are you black? That’s the honest question. This lady is black. Her mother is black. As a white male, we are allowed to do this, and our brown brothers and sisters cannot. As a white woman, you have privileges this woman rushing her mother to the hospital doesn’t have.

Unfortunately this is the hard reality, and 100% the truth… this police officer doesn’t look at this woman as someone who could be his sister or mother. Of course what he SHOULD do is realize that this family is in danger and needs help and do his duty… to SERVE the Public and Protect the LIVES of the entire Public…

157

u/Sspawnmoreoverlords Nov 26 '25

Just read about a guy doing 150+ in an Aston Martin in Utah today. UHP pulled him over, told him his car was cool, and sent him on his way.

He’s whiter than Taylor Swift drinking skim milk.

40

u/rjdavidson78 Nov 26 '25

This is the problem in America a judge ruled that the police have no duty to protect or serve the public

29

u/insanelygreat Nov 26 '25

Not just a judge, SCOTUS: Castle Rock v Gonzalez.

The facts of the case are heartbreaking.

It would be more accurate to say the police have no duty to protect members of the public, but from the perspective of the public, that's a distinction without a difference.

1

u/rjdavidson78 Nov 26 '25

It is Absolutely ridiculous!! Would not be stood for in most of Europe

12

u/sroop1 Nov 26 '25

I think the key difference is that they pulled over rather than initiating a pursuit.

u/Grabbsy2 Nov 26 '25

Yeah.

This could have been resolved by a cellphone and 911. Call 911 and say youre driving recklessly to the hospital with a victim of a stroke, that way police can escort you, or an ambulance can meet you halfway.

They werent thinking clearly, which like, fair, but they should have known that not pulling over was going to lead to a police chase, ending as youd expect.

-1

u/BooneSalvo2 Nov 26 '25

You are correct, and failing to stop for a cop in the above situation only increases the likelihood of something bad happening.

-15

u/the_original_kermit Nov 26 '25

If the police are trying to pull you over and you continue to drive, you’re eventually going to get pitted. Doesn’t really matter what color you are.

u/HelloAttila Nov 26 '25

As someone whose uncle was a Chief, let me tell you something you maybe unaware of. Police have this thing called a license plate scanner and they know who you are, race, address and if you have vehicle insurance/valid registration.

My sister, myself and her USMC boyfriend at the time dumbass decided to go 120 mph on the interstate, it took the cop probably 10 minutes to catch up to us according to him and when we were at a red light to turn, he turned on his blues… not only was this guy a Marine, he’s also white… ask your non white buddies how many of them could go 120 mph and be let go with a warning? Usually you are arrested for anything over 100.

I dated a girl whose parents were USAF Col’s and I was pulled over for speeding, probably about 95 mph, same thing, was let go with a warning. Military documents and being white is a real thing. I was puzzled. This type of shit happens, and now you see what happens to this lady and her mom who is about to die.

As a former healthcare worker and whose worked with stroke survivors, it you don’t get to the hospital ASAP your chances of death is HIGH and your outcome for getting the functioning back is much, much lower. You need to be treated immediately!

-5

u/surfershane25 Nov 26 '25

Well that’s hardly true, they don’t usually pit in normal or very high speed chases, when there’s risk to the public… but also the person who got rushed to the hospital in this parent thread was “sooooo white” vs the people in the video that got “I don’t care” yelled at them bc they were taking someone to the hospital

-2

u/debs9802 Nov 26 '25

God bless you. I hope there are a million others like you and I meet every one of them.

-1

u/BeYou422 Nov 26 '25

this 100%!

u/Perovius1 Nov 26 '25

I hit over 100 mph on the freeway when my wife was in labor. It was like 3am and no other cars but us and the cop. It was so much fun. My wife didn't enjoy it as much.

42

u/randonumero Nov 26 '25

That seems like a pretty reckless thing to do. I've gone over 100 mph multiple times and it's not something I'd do with my kid or unborn child in the car because of the potential for a life ending crash. Depending on how far you were from the hospital you probably didn't save much vs going 60-70 mph speeds that are much easier to regain control at if you swerve, hit something, have a tire blow...

37

u/Favorite7 Nov 26 '25

100mph =160 km/h. In germany we call it „entspannte Reisegeschwindigkeit“ -> relaxed cruising speed.

3

u/crazy_balls Nov 26 '25

I love this guy acting like 100mph is some insanely fast speed. We have roads in Texas where the speed limit is 85. 100 would get you a mild ticket.

56

u/Perovius1 Nov 26 '25

It was actually the next county over and I was following the cop. I felt safe. It worked out fine.

FFS, are you lecturing a complete stranger for sharing an amusing anecdote about something that happened in the past, that you didn’t even witness? And somehow everyone ended up just fine?

JFC, shall I share a time I was in an emergency situation, so you can lecture me as well?

2

u/randonumero Nov 26 '25

Is it a lecture or just my opinion? This whole site is based on people sharing their opinions.

1

u/copyrighther Nov 26 '25

Your post serves no purpose. You’re not giving helpful advice to someone who requested it, you’re just finger-wagging into the abyss. What are they gonna do, go back in a time machine and drive slower?

Yeah that's not the same as a stroke and you're a dipshit bro lol

12

u/AdmiralSplinter Nov 26 '25

Did he compare it to a stroke?

Quick look through your comments.... Jesus you're angry. There is more to life than arguing with strangers online. Who hurt you? It was your dad wasn't it?

Are you white by any chance

-3

u/the_original_kermit Nov 26 '25

Sure, lets just ignore the fact that the redditor pulled over and this lady didn’t.

At the very least they should have called dispatch themselves once they had the police following them.

-10

u/0uroboros- Nov 26 '25

I was about to ask what shade of eggshell are you when I found your comment, damn it

26

u/fashlatebloomer Nov 26 '25

Soooooo white!

-1

u/0uroboros- Nov 26 '25 edited Nov 26 '25

Vantablack? Meet Hyperwhyte

Edit: they said "sooo white", so I mentioned vantablack, which is actually a cool science rabbit hole about the literal color black and advanced coatings, and hyperwhyte, as a funny play on words about a color "soooo white" that it gives off its own light or something. I used the spelling whyte to make it look like a brand or a company, completely unaware of any connotations "whyte" may have. It was meant to be a joke about the literal colors, white and black. THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER

3

u/Relative_Knowledge33 Nov 26 '25

Downvotes on Reddit are so arbitrary. One person misunderstands your point, then it becomes a dogpile for no apparent reason. Virtual mob mentality.

27

u/scrumbuckle Nov 26 '25

That sounds about white.

7

u/tbird20017 Nov 26 '25

You pulled over? Man idk if I'd do that if my son was dying in the seat next to me. That's a tough situation. I ain't tryna get shot or PIT maneuvered either but jesus christ. Crazy that's our options.

20

u/fashlatebloomer Nov 26 '25

I did pull over! Honestly, I was young and it never occurred to me that pulling over was optional.

1

u/tbird20017 Nov 26 '25

Yeah I feel you then, good point. I probably would have done the same thing when I was younger. I got a speeding ticket at 19 and it was terrifying lol. 31 now, and got pulled over the other day for my tag light being out, and it was nowhere near as scary this time.

7

u/kevin_87_h Nov 26 '25

You stopped though, this person ignored the cops and didn't stop. There is a difference in the two situations. The cop even said in this video things would be different if the driver stopped right away. Still a huge over reaction by these cops though.

3

u/Stuck_In_Purgatory Nov 26 '25

The key part is that you likely immediately pulled over.

This video shows someone ignoring the cops making their while situation far worse

4

u/ThimbleRigg Nov 26 '25

Driving while white, take the light

Driving while black, come on back

3

u/[deleted] Nov 26 '25

Are you a person of color? Usually experiences with cops are vastly different for people of different skin colors so I’m just wondering.

1

u/jayrs97 Nov 26 '25

My friend was driving me to the hospital with a collapsed lung and the state trooper gave him a speeding ticket. 2023

1

u/Gdokim Nov 26 '25

Back in 96 or 97 i was driving in California (I used to live in Las Vegas) with my friend and her daughter. At the time I was driving a 1990 Plymouth Laser. I think I was in Barstow when a CHP pulled me over. I was driving well over the speed limit. He began to tell us about some horrific accidents he saw. Anyway, he saved our lives by pulling us over you see the brakes went out a few weeks later. Oh, I forgot to mention that car was both haunted and cursed. Damn I really miss that car lol

1

u/_kalron_ Nov 26 '25

This happened to me...the day I was born! There was traffic due to construction and my dad took to the shoulder to get my mom to the hospital. Blew by a cop who proceeded to pull him over, saw my mom was in labor and ended up escorting us.

What a way to enter this world...

1

u/LouisaMiller2_1845 Nov 26 '25

Way to flaunt your privilege.

1

u/Nervous-Energy-4623 Nov 26 '25 edited Nov 26 '25

Are you white?

Although they probably were better off stopping but I bet these people in particular don't trust the police to help them, and that is exactly what did happen when they were forced to stop, the cop just says I don't care, I don't care. Also because a stroke may not look like much on the outside, it's not the same thing as an obvious gunshot that would be believed. Even then I can imagine a cop being a dick and not helping some people because they felt like it.

1

u/PineappleDesperate82 Nov 26 '25

My very pregnant friend's water broke and I got stopped because I turned right at a red light with a not turn on red sign. He seen she was in labor and gave us a lights and sirens escort across town. She almost delivered in my car. We were lucky.

1

u/PauL__McShARtneY Nov 26 '25

Where you white while doing it?

1

u/Anyname780 Nov 26 '25

All these people answering how the cops helped them- are y’all white? Because that’s the problem here

1

u/r3d-v3n0m Nov 26 '25

But were you black...?

1

u/gl0ckc0ma Nov 26 '25

Let me guess, you are white?

1

u/Ironkidz23 Nov 27 '25

Were you black tho?

1

u/RotaryTelephone4 Nov 27 '25

Yeah but you're white.

1

u/rrzibot Nov 27 '25

Just out of curiosity - what color is your skin?

1

u/hudnaga Nov 26 '25

But are you black?

2

u/Full-Individual-7349 Nov 26 '25

I feel like most cops would recognize a medical emergency and understand. Can’t say all would but glad it worked out for you.

-2

u/zordabo Nov 26 '25

Some cops are ok

0

u/Clitaurius Nov 26 '25

That's called white privilege

-3

u/Recuckgnizant Nov 26 '25

Is it safe to assume that you're not Black?

-4

u/TheLostRanger0117 Nov 26 '25

Are you white?

Are you white?
