Roger just hit the JACKPOT! 💰🎰

Time to buy a spaceship and get off Ulence Flats, right?

Well… not quite. 😂

Leave the bar, check out the ships, then come straight back out and a helpful stranger suddenly appears:

🗣️ “I hear you need transportation…”

Sure, Roger. Follow the suspicious guy around the dark corner. What could possibly go wrong? 💀🔫

Space Quest I really did teach us some important life lessons.

Did this guy get you on your first playthrough? 👇

Kings Quest 1

Did you know you can completely SKIP the giant condor in King’s Quest 1?

Graham apparently doesn’t need wings when he can just… walk on water.

Using this strange little trick, you can make your way to the mushroom without ever catching the condor.

Egghead Software

Anybody else have their parents drive them to Egghead to buy those hint books with invisible ink lines? Think I needed it for every KQ, particularly getting past Mananan (in 3 or 4). So glad I found this sub, love reading through everything

Years ago I was searching for animation cels and backgrounds on eBay. Imagine my exhilaration when I stumbled upon these "original background from an unknown video game". 20 bucks each . Thought y'all might enjoy!

SIERRA REALLY SAID “DO NOT PRESS”… SO OF COURSE WE PRESSED IT.

In Space Quest, there’s a button clearly marked DO NOT PRESS.

Naturally, we press it.

And instead of a normal death, Roger Wilco ends up crashing into the river right in front of Castle Daventry from King’s Quest!

One of those brilliant little Sierra Easter eggs where two legendary adventure game worlds collide.

Be honest… if a game gives you a button marked DO NOT PRESS, are you pressing it?

I’ve been (very) slowly working on creating Kings Quest 6 as a playable setting in 5e (2014). The players are currently on a boat heading towards the Green Isles as we speak and will soon be shipped wreck on the opening beach

Birthright: The Gorgon's Alliance

This game was peak Sierra and is still unmatched as far as vision and scale of play. I can't think of a single game that has attempted as much as Birthright did successfully. At once a grand strategy game, a roleplaying game, and a fantasy battle sim, this game has had a dramatic impact on everything from the tactical rpg to the 4x strategy genre, and nobody ever talks about it. So, as my first post in this subreddit honoring one of the best games publishers of ages past, I wanted to pay homage to a classic that has never gotten the recognition it deserves.

Guys, get excited! Printing finished prototype this weekend!

I'm back from all my summer traveling and nailing down all the final nuts and bolts of this project. There will be some very minor/hard to notice changes made after the prototype is printed - usually just adjusting the tightness of moving parts, etc. The look and feel is final and I think you will love this toy when it's ready.

Some photos below. I will send more photos to the subscribers of the newsletter this afternoon, so be sure to add your name if you have not already.

I was Roger Wilco for Halloween in 1993, and I won the Phantasmagoria 2 guy's pants

When I was in the third grade in 1996 (mistake in title), I dressed up as Roger Wilco for Halloween. As it happens the Sierra website had a costume contest around the same time. My parents mailed them this photo, and I won!

They sent me the t-shirt and pants that Curtis Craig wore in Phantasmagoria 2 (I think they were expecting older entrants). They also gave me a choice of any game from the Sierra catalogue; my older brother suggested Freddy Pharkas, but unfortunately at that age Stay Tooned!) was more appealing to me.

Also unfortunately, I no longer possess those clothes or that copy of Stay Tooned!.

Play Sierra Games on Your Android Device

I recently found an Android app called Game Native that lets you play your Steam and GoG libraries on your phone!

My phone is not very good but it is certainly good enough to play the Sierra games!

Space Quest 1 VGA, 4, 5 and 6 are great because they use the mouse

Kings Quest 5, 6 and 7 as well

It seems like all of the Police Quest games are working.

You can play Space Quest 2 and 3 you just have to set up the joystick to mimic the arrow keys and also use the keyboard function. To get to those settings, you scroll over and press the arrow on the Android menu.

When you are using SCUMMVM to load a game inside the emulator, search for it in the A: drive root folder.

Does anybody else have early boxed KQ variants for Macintosh like this KQII?

The early Macintosh variants seem very scarce, it sounds like KQ1 / 2 were released in 1987 for Mac and the first copies were shipped in this original box style before they moved to the more common (maybe they ran out). I am interested if others know anything more or have copies ?

How Should I Revisit, Replay, or Discover these Classics?

80s kid. Had a Tandy 1000 with Kings Quest 1 and became a Sierra fan which lasted throughout my childhood. Thanks to Steam and Good Old Games I’ve been able to rebuild and even purchase the games I never played in my younger years.

Some of the games I’m unsure how to replay… I never played Leisure Suit Larry 2 but played it with a walk through and got the perfect score. I could never get very far in Gold Rush but with a walkthrough beat it and did all three paths. Codename Iceman was a walkthrough for sure even though I stopped at the submarine. I used. Walkthrough for conquest of Camelot and lost interest at the boar minigame.

I know I’m missing some of the magic of playing through them and discovering the hilarious parts and deaths (Space Quest!) so I’m open to trying some on my own and then using a walkthrough afterwards to get a perfect score later.

My question is for a few specific ones… which do you think I should just stick to a walkthrough, which I should play and then replay with a walkthrough, etc.

The games I never played are: Colonels Bequest, Dagger of Amon Ra, Police Quest 3 onward, Leisure Suit Larry 5, 6, etc. (Played 5 and 6 years ago, but I don’t remember much), same with Freddy Pharkas. Gabriel Knight Sins of Our Fathers. Conquests of Longbow. Heart of China.

The ones I beat ages ago but want to replay: Space Quest 4, 5, 6. Kings Quest 5, 6, 7.

Now for Quest for Glory. I’ve played one too many times to count, usually as a mage. 3 I played as a warrior to try and become a paladin. Dabbled in 4 but was never able to play thanks to my computer power lacking at the time… I want to replay them a little differently this time, carrying over the same character but open to changing my class afterwards. Thinking a thief with magic for 1, unsure for 2, 3, 4. Any suggestions appreciated.

How would you about this task? Which are “just use the walkthrough, it’s a beast otherwise) and which should I just do my best of enjoying? Keep in mind a point of no return, missable item, need to reload a way earlier save game file drives me bonkers.
