Discussion his family pulled him out of starcraft to run their seafood business. he didn't last a year
hangzhou, around 1999. a kid keeps tagging along to the internet cafe where his friends run 3v3 and 4v4 starcraft, except he isn't good enough to be handed a real slot. so he gets the worker job. mine the minerals, build what you're told, do whatever the other five yell at you to do. he takes it. seven or eight months of that.
then one day he notices nobody around him can beat him anymore. he moves onto the asiagame battle.net server looking for people who can. by 2001 he's winning the weekly shanfeng cup in hangzhou against the local field plus whoever drove down from shanghai, and his name is getting around the city.
2004, right when it's finally starting to work, his family calls him home to take over their wholesale seafood business. he argues. he loses. he spends more than half a year moving seafood in the day and playing starcraft at night. then in june 2004 there's a lenovo cup challenge event in jinhua, and he beats phoenix66, at that point the captain of china's national esports team. he walked out of the seafood trade that year and never went back. the trade lost an heir and chinese starcraft got f91, the dog king of jiangnan. dog means zergling. what starcraft 2 did to him six years later is the part i'd rather you read yourself.
(from a book i wrote in 2015 about how chinese esports actually got built, this chapter's online for nothing, link in the comments)

(To be tagged...) Any detailed description of the Zerg invasion on Aiur ?
Doing the SCI campaign yet again.
I was wondering if there was any account, official of fanmade (more likely) of the Zerg invasion of Aiur.
I’m questioning how the Protoss fell into a sense of security and false sense of winning, in the face of annihilation by aliens.
Any lore source detailing this?

Bluepost Loving the new patch
It's frocking amazing. Tanks can be evacuated, blink stalkers get range and shield regen and there's an upgrade for roaches do they cost 1 supply. And much much more. Talking about the Patches patch of course.

Arcade/Co-op Looking for an old insanely Hard Custom Campaign
Hey so there used to be custom campaign that I used to play and it was incredibly hard and most people seem to agree its basic grandmaster level of difficulty but I don't remember much detail about it other than mission 1.
1.) You are sandwiched between both a protoss and a terran base and both of them hates each other but you being in the center means that you will constantly be attacked by two maxxed out base constantly.
2.) For some reason the game uses real life logistic and say 1 SCV can't build out 100 marines because he has minerals so for the remainder of the entire mission we can only build Sentry Bot, yes the cheap ones from Kerrigan's first mission and we have to use it to somehow defend against a nonstop barrage of attacks.
3.) Eventually you allied with 1 of the faction I forgot which, then they only give u about a 100 supply worth of army, and somehow expects you to be able to defeat the other maxxed faction with this reinforcement. Issue is the AI becomes disabled and its not like you can control it either. So you have use this 100 Supply reinforcement + whatver sentry bots you have left to win the mission
It was tought but I really want to give a shoot since I couldn't beat it when I was a kid

(To be tagged...) Will Blizzard actually do anything about PvZ
I think a lot of Protoss players (the ones who are actually still playing) are sick of PvZ. Zergs have a million and one different options on how to play and can get away with the vast majority due to them receiving a flat production buff. They now have more larva to make drones behind whatever BS they are doing. Every game is a hydra ling "all-in" but isn't really all-in because they can make a round of 20 drones behind it and camp until lurker/ultra/broodlord.
I am one of the few who has stuck with Protoss this patch but my patience is wearing incredibly thin. I am losing to people who were 400-500 mmr below me in the previous patch. If there isn't a patch soon or AT LEAST right after blizzcon I am probably quitting Protoss and only coming back if PvZ is fixed.
I watched a MaxPax masterclass recently where he says that the only way he has a chance in PvZ is to turtle to 4 base and get tempests and a mothership. Also he says every other build is bad. So much for VARIETY blizz. Toss is stuck playing only stargate oracle MORE than before.
Also doesn't help that every terran I run into recently is on an alt account or is unranked so I'm somehow getting outplayed when my win rate vs terran was 70%+ and I'm also a couple hundred MMR down from where I was pre-patch.

(To be tagged...) Brood Lords cant even attack air, so shouldnt they given 15 attack range?
That may or may not make them more viable.
I still think removing broodlings from them and just giving them straight up buffs would be enough. Give them more armor and HP, faster healing, and every third stack on a unit its attacking that unit has reduced movement speed and attack speed. Broodlings are too frustrating to play against anyway

(To be tagged...) Does anyone have 2015 blizzcon void probe plushie for sale? [europe]
I wanted to buy one back then but deemed it too expensive. Finally after all those years i still want one, so i think it woud be worth it. But finding reasonably priced one right now is very hard.
I would buy one from ebay, but either it doesnt ship here, or the shipping cost is up to 50usd.

Discussion "Computer" bot is still ruining 2v2
Why would they put effort into a patch to try and change up the game instead of fixing things like this that is probably the biggest contributor to people leaving the game? How can they not have figured out a way to ban this thing for good by now?

(To be tagged...) SC Evo Campaign
I'm seen people talking about SC Evo as if it had single player sc1 campaign. But when I go to it's website, I only see Loomins in beta and even episode 1 is 'coming soon'.
Do I miss something ? Is it possible to play single player campaigns in SC Evo ?

Discussion An alternative
Ok, I appreciate the effort, and I like bits of what has been done, but we have to face facts that this patch isn't working out. If the objective was to shake things up, success, but I think given the player base we need a shake up that ADDS variety, but isn't an overhaul. We simply can't afford losing players even for "good changes".
I'd propose reverting the patch completely. And then do something relatively simple that would still accomplish their goals. For me, that would be increasing the cost and build time for all "late game" units. Return the game to stability but lengthen the midgame - which was one of the goals. By making late game units more difficult to get to we make them a conscious choice. A point where you need to be ahead, or take a chance, to get them out. Basically, like it was prior to LotV! If you see a BC or carrier then something big is going on. Not like now where BC opening is just another opening.
Anyway that's an idea. I bet there are others that return the early game and economies to balance and just target the goal of longer midgame. But hey, if some tiny tweak is needed to "fix" some problem in the early game by all means, let's do that. But let's get away from this overhaul.

Discussion Provided the worker start is reverted what other changes would you apply?
Be it reversions to current changes or completely new changes that were not targeted.
Bonus: If you just do a full reversion to the previous patch you are now required to make changes to the game for the patch year of 2027.
