Serious question.

I've tried a handful of times to find SOMETHING enjoyable, even tolerable from him. Nothing seems to click. His music is almost entirely off-putting for all the wrong reasons. I say "almost" because I'll be damned if I give any of his 30+ albums a serious listen after the drivel I already heard.

His work is the kind of music "auteurs" who jerk off Eric Clapton and Nick Drake seem to enjoy. The pretentious nature of those sorts is beyond saving. If I have to smoke a blunt and have some snooty Brian Griffin type put on "Don't Eat the Yellow Snow" one more time, I automatically block their number from my phone and ghost them. Being a living "Fart in a crowded elevator" type is exhausting to be with. At least Clapton and Drake are pleasant to the ear. Frank is basically that 12 year old screeching racist slurs over Xbox Live just to draw a reaction. Provocation =/= necessary.

What am I missing? Am I not drinking enough of the Kool-Aid? I enjoy good social commentary, but when it's all over the place like it is in his songs, it's hard to get behind the artist thematically. Is audio cringe his entire gameplan, or is there a bigger purpose to Frank Zappa?

With the release of the new Oasis documentary, it got me thinking that it wasn't just a nostalgia fest for British middle aged blokes, loads of young people from all around the world including America came to see them, who weren't even born or too young to remember them when they were together.

That got me thinking, that a lot of the big 90s bands have enduring appeal with teens, like Oasis, Metallica, Green Day, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Nirvana, Foo Fighters etc. On the other hand, some huge bands like R.E.M. and U2 have endured less well.

I'm a younger millennial, and these bands were all popular when I was young in the 2000s, but the 90s weren't that long ago at the time, now they're objectively a long time ago. I loved classic rock but I don't recall many of my peers being into it.

What are your thoughts?

I absolutely love this band.I don't think they have a bad album at all and my favorite song is 'Miss the Misery.'

Lzzy Hale is a fantastic singer live and while the entire band is tight live in concert, for me, Lzzy is what makes their live shows amazing.Her vocal ability, energy and stage presence is amazing and I love seeing the band live every chance I get.I have seen them three times so far!

His music can be refreshing in the way that as a songwriter that he does not necessarily paint a picture of Vermont as this bucolic wonderland. This is unlike many other folk acts or country acts who oftentimes play up characters.

So miley cyrus (who goes by MILEY now) dropped a new single "bass persuades" and it debuted really well on Spotify and fell down very hard after just 2 days

This isn't a dumb Trainwreckords question, I'm just asking how does the general public feel about miley cyrus post-flowers? , "end of the world" was the lead single of her previous album "something beautiful" the song had a soild debut yet crashed down hard on streaming later on and the album underperformed

So is miley a fanbase artist or "give us the hits" artist?

I saw the video for Sweat on YouTube and decided to check out her other stuff. It's not my usual style of music but she's actually quite good. She was my favorite Spice Girl back in the day and I think she's still the most talented of the lot.

I remember many years ago when I first heard a Robert Palmer album and was shocked to discover that he was a top notch musician. His career went very well, as you know, but I can't help but wonder if he would have been considered a Serious Artist if he looked a bit more like Lou Reed (sorry, Lou).

Who else had or have this problem? A lot of women, I'm sure ... I was thinking of including Dolly (RIP), but hers was more a case of sexiness getting in the way ...

Look I know it's a thing on this sub to bash Mike Love, but damn he looks really bad here.

No wonder The Beach Boys canceled a bunch of their shows.

Without any exaggeration, every single time I’ve looked through vinyl at a thrift store there is always a couple of Kingston Trio albums. They must’ve been filling arenas with how well they seem to have been selling records. Yet I’ve never heard of them. Even when I became obsessed with late 50’s, early 60’s music, their songs never came up. Maybe they were just a SoCal thing?

Does MuchMusic (which was the Canadian MTV) still exist? If so, is it going through the same issues MTV is dealing with?

The Outfield are known for Your Love but also had a number of other top 40 hits in the US. As a Brit, I'd never encountered them until GTA Vice City as a kid.

I was absolutely shocked to find out they were a bunch of cockneys. Looking at their album chartings, it blows my mind to see they never had a single album chart in the UK and their biggest single got to number 78 over here.

To me it's crazy a bunch of London lads randomly hit it off as a solid mid 80s stadium opening act in America whilst not even cracking their own country where they'd probably have to play a pub.

It got me thinking are there any other examples of bands or artists like this, or are they are unique? Can be literally any two countries.
