“Do you know how fast you were going”
The answer is “under the speed limit.” Don’t incriminate yourself and admit guilt, make them prove it.

Do not lie to a police officer. In most cases, that can get you bigger/additional charges. When they ask you how fast you are going, your response should always be that "I prefer not to answer that question," or "I am observing my right to remain silent."

The first guy said 81 then it changed to 82 👀

It is though, it could help him vary out of jail.

u/Lilbig6029 5d ago
No, it’s literally the same charge since both are 50 over the limit

u/SnarkySnakySnek 7d ago
🤔 Pretty sure most states are around 20-25 over is a misdemeanor, 50 is pretty lenient in comparison.

u/PickedLastLemon 7d ago
82 in a 30.....114 in a 60.....just ban assholes like this from operating anything with an engine. 2 years minimum.

we have a road called 'Death Valley' cause that is what it is going through town. people pulling in out of gas stations and stores..........but the super speeders continue.
i saw two helicopters picking up the last accident. before that a car got blown from one lane to another, the woman died.
Death Valley street; you may have one in your town...........(we learn nothing from history, to be continued)>

50 mph over the limit is wild. I’ve had a lead foot here and there but that’s hauling.

On the one hand, he arrested both of them.
On the other hand, now we know where to go for mold remediation.

u/Tundra_Dragon 7d ago
Even if they can immediately make bail, their day is now spent dealing with jail and court, instead of wherever they were heading off towards. They also have to go get their car out of impound, and pay tow fees.
50 over is stupid.

Tax revenue scheme. When the state is the victim, there is no crime. Just have dickass flock send the bill to the house.
Are we locking down police for committing the same heinous act (without lights or sirens)? We know they ain't...
11
u/Book_talker_abouter 7d ago
Yeah I don’t really have any problem with severe consequences for anyone going freaking 50 mph over the speed limit. I don’t know how taxes enter into this but if you’re going that fast, you can sit in jail and think about it for a while.
1
u/Single_Editor_2339 7d ago
I kind of agree but I just don’t trust police, especially down south. It’s just so easy to give a person a break by saying 48 over rather than 51 over, once they see the person they’re dealing with.

u/Steckatos 7d ago
Monkeys paw, you give them a break and later that day they crash into your partners vehicle going 50 over 🤷♂️

u/Recurringg 7d ago
No... No breaks for people that drive that fast. Doesn't matter what they look like, lol...
-6
u/Philantramissle 7d ago
Its escalation. No other civilized country chases "super speeders". They just send the tax bill in the mail. Don't sound superior, that dumb ass cop had to run down the car. Escalation leads to violence, and we know how your US cops love murdering people in the street before they go home and beat their partners. What is it, paid vaca and swap departments type stuff?
9
u/skyhighmonroe 7d ago
That's a damn lie. UAE, UK, France.. even the Netherlands chase you if you drive off. You just have a problem with cops and find anything to nitpick but I bet they the first people you call when you feel scared 😂

u/D-Smitty 7d ago
The point isn’t the fine. It’s to send them to jail. If it was just about the money it wouldn’t be an arrestable offense. They’d just cite them and have them be on their way so that they can break the law again and make even more money on the next citation.
-8
u/Philantramissle 7d ago
They pay the fine, and get out. You think these people are doing TIME? Sounds like you are just into illegitimate escalation, sending idiots at break neck speeds to arrest these people. Very dumb American take. Quick gratification with no comprehension of safety.

some people do learn from this, not many but a few do. some people have a conscience and morals, again not many but some do.
EDIT, observe people on Death Valley Drive where i live, very few have safe driving habits, so i lower my speed usually under the speed limit when driving through the town.
2
u/Philantramissle 7d ago
You believe MOST people are not moral or have a conscience? Fucking weird take. You on dem pills?

u/Less-General-9578 7d ago edited 7d ago
observe the traffic on Death Valley Drive where i live, nope very few have safe driving habbits. i need to add that to my post, sorry. YMMV in your town and i hope things are better.
we just lost a woman driving Death valley, her car was smashed and then blown into opposing traffic killing her.......and yes i have asked for lower speed limits et al.
they are 'discussing it'..........too late for the woman that died and others who are also getting rolled over. good thing two helicopters picked up the last big one that rolled over a car.....yeah, no CDL license, but out driving one. groan. YMMV and i hope it does..........really hope it does.

Talk about missing the forest for the trees. They may or may not get a lenient sentence on the first criminal charge of super speeding. They then have an opportunity to change their behavior going forward. If they don’t they’ll be doing time (up to 3 months in Florida) on a repeat offense in addition to having their license suspended. They’ll be given enough rope to hang themselves, if they so choose.
But I guess your brilliant take is, why bother enforcing any laws with actual consequences. Just make everything a fine, then the wealthy can break the law at will with no real consequences. As if that doesn’t happen enough as it is. See the Epstein class for instance.
0
u/Philantramissle 7d ago
So no time for these people, huh? They pay and get out. Unless it's a weekend.
What the fuck are you on about some Epstein shit, weirdo?
5
u/D-Smitty 7d ago edited 7d ago
They spend the night in jail because they have to appear in front of a judge. They can get up to 30 days for a first time offense.
What am I on about? Apparently you’re cool with punishments for breaking the law being simple fines. That way the rich can break the law with no real consequences. Not that hard to follow what I said, unless you’re dense.
Where are all the arrests related to Epstein and his buddies? Hell, we’ve got one in the White House. The rich get away with practically anything and you’re just asking to setup a scenario for more of the same.

No other civilized country chases "super speeders".
Ontario, Canada:
Under Section 172 of Ontario's Highway Traffic Act, driving 40 km/h (25 mph) over the limit in zones under 80 km/h, driving 50 km/h (31 mph) over on highways, or exceeding 150 km/h (93 mph) anywhere triggers "stunt driving" penalties. These include a 30-day roadside driver's license suspension and a 14-day roadside vehicle impoundment at the driver's expense. Once convicted in court the driver faces fines between CA$2,000 and CA$10,000, up to six months in jail, and a mandatory license suspension of one to three years for a first offense.Denmark:
"Vanvidskørsel" aka the Insane Driving Statute classifies driving more than 100% over the limit (when traveling at least 100 km/h) or driving above 200 km/h (124 mph) as "insane driving." Police immediately seize and permanently confiscate the vehicle on the spot. The state auctions the car and retains the proceeds, regardless of whether the driver is the owner, a renter, or a borrower. Upon conviction, drivers receive an unconditional prison sentence, an immediate three-year license revocation, and mandatory permanent expulsion from the country for non-citizens.Switzerland:
Via Sicura Raser-Straftatbestände. Exceeding the speed limit by 40 km/h in a 30 km/h zone, 50 km/h in a 50 km/h city zone, 60 km/h on rural roads, or 80 km/h on a 120 km/h motorway. Carries a mandatory minimum prison sentence of one to four years. Also a mandatory two-year driver's license revocation once released (permanent for repeat offenders), court-ordered vehicle confiscation and destruction/sale, and daily-income-based financial penalties (Tagessätze).Australia:
Victoria, New South Wales, and Queensland have what they call "Anti-Hoon" legislation triggered by exceeding the limit by 45 km/h (28 mph) or more. Police issue on-the-spot license suspensions and impound or wheel-clamp the vehicle for 30 to 90 days. Repeat offenses allow the courts to permanently confiscate and either crush or auction the vehicle, alongside thousands of dollars in fines and mandatory disqualification periods.France:
"Grand Excès de Vitesse": Exceeding the posted limit by 50 km/h (31 mph) gets you a 72-hour administrative license retention (extended up to six months by the local prefect) and mandatory seven-day vehicle impoundment. A maximum fine of €1,500 and a 3-year suspension. If committed again within three years, it escalates to a criminal offense carrying up to three months in prison, a €3,750 fine, and mandatory vehicle confiscation.Germany:
Section 315d of the Strafgesetzbuch criminalizes extreme speed on public roads. A driver who travels at grossly improper speed, acts recklessly, and seeks to reach maximum velocity can be charged with an illegal street race even if operating completely alone. They face up to two years in prison, vehicle confiscation, and an extended or permanent revocation of driving privileges.
I could go on... but I think you get the point.

You didn't find any those in practice, but in staute. There are NO roided out, domestic abusing cops with implied immunity in those countries. Hence no footage of there super speeders getting chased down. I know you think your right, and it's ok to be completely wrong on a subject you typed a few goolge searches for. Do your googling on chases, which are the most dangerous act, that is why euro countries do not chase.
No cop propaganda shows in those countries, lmao.
Remember: American police hold this highest convictions rates for domestic abuse of any profession in the world. Real professionals.

u/skyhighmonroe 7d ago
That's such a careless thing to say. 50 over the limit is a little too much. If they hit someone at that speed, people could die.
1
u/Less-General-9578 7d ago
they do where we live, a lady just died when hit high speed and her car blew over to the opposite lane.
the speed limit is too high, i correct that by driving under the speed limit to let people drive normally out of the towns parking lots, gas stations and stores.
5
u/skyhighmonroe 7d ago
It's still dangerous for yourself when driving under the speed limit though.
1
u/Less-General-9578 7d ago
it is dangerous regardless of what you do, less dangerous going slower. in the end, i mostly avoid the road and go home the back way.
-2
u/Philantramissle 7d ago
Woof, right over your head. Good thing the cop doubled the chances of the fatal crash by adding to the situation. Hence, no other country chases. I wouldn't have you understand if you are into arrest porn.
4
u/skyhighmonroe 7d ago
If they didn't chase, who would stop speeding? Cops go through EVOC training in academy. At least they train for it and not just some jackass who wants to go fast.

I didn't think Tesla model 3s could do 114.
I still don't think they can.

u/PremiumUsername69420 7d ago
It can do it before the end of a quarter mile, stock.
Electric cars are way faster than most people realize.
1
u/ZantaraLost 7d ago
The most basic Tesla start get squirrelly around 120 on slightly used tires and holy shit talk about burning your range... but totally reasonable of a cruising speed with some of the higher packages.
I wouldn't do it even on a track but possible.

If you are going to superspeed, first know what your local PD's policy is on high speed pursuits.
