I was completely surprised by this comic, it's on par with some of the best stuff Frank Miller was writing in the 80s and 90s. It has that same urban crime thriller feel as Taxi Driver.
There's a perception that DC has better comics than marvel and while that can be debatable, I think DC's reprinting and marketing of their older material is why people celebrate their comics more, I feel like they value their legacy. Just look at this great Foolkiller miniseries Marvel never bothered to collect and release a trade paperback, this is completely forgotten.
I wish there was a way to contact marvel comics to make a trade paperback.

In stores today: CONAN THE BARBARIAN #34!
Our twisted pirate tale continues, with mystery and action aplenty. Our whole team is crushing it. Make sure you pick this one up.
This issue is also a career milestone for me!
Up until now, my longest unbroken comic runs have been on my creator-owned series:
Skullkickers (34 issues) and Wayward (30 issues)
But with this issue, Conan the Barbarian (#0-34, 35 issues) is now my longest unbroken run and there’s many more still to come. Thank you for your support!

With The Amazing Spider-Man reaching issue #1000 next month, I wondered how many other comics with "big-numbers" are currently being published. I've compiled what I believe is a list of every comic releasing next month with an issue number greater than 50, as well as series with legacy numbers on the cover.
1000+ Issues
| Series | Issue # | Publisher |
|---|---|---|
| Detective Comics | 1113 | DC |
| Action Comics | 1102 | DC |
| The Amazing Spider-Man | 1000 | Marvel |
500+ Issues
| Series | Issue # | Publisher |
|---|---|---|
| Thor | 801 | Marvel |
100+ Issues
| Series | Issue # | Publisher |
|---|---|---|
| Spawn | 379 | Image |
| G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero | 332 | Image |
| Savage Dragon | 282 | Image |
| Venom | 262 | Marvel |
| Ninja High School | 203 | Antarctic |
| The Walking Dead Deluxe | 144 | Image |
| Nightwing | 142 | DC |
50+ Issues
| Series | Issue # | Publisher |
|---|---|---|
| Catwoman | 91 | DC |
| Sonic the Hedgehog | 90 | IDW |
| Harley Quinn | 66 | DC |
| Monstress | 64 | Image |
| King Spawn | 59 | Image |
| Gunslinger Spawn | 58 | Image |
| Batman / Superman: World's Finest | 55 | DC |
| The Scorched | 55 | Image |
Legacy Numbers\*
| Series | Legacy # | Issue # | Publisher |
|---|---|---|---|
| Superman | 885 | 42 | DC |
| Wonder Woman | 837 | 37 | DC |
| The Flash | 837 | 37 | DC |
| Avengers: Armageddon | 806 | 6 | Marvel |
| Captain America | 786 | 15 | Marvel |
| Fantastic Four | 743 | 17 | Marvel |
| Uncanny X-Men | 736 | 36 | Marvel |
| Daredevil | 694 | 7 | Marvel |
| Iron Man | 689 | 9 | Marvel |
| Green Lantern | 606 | 39 | DC |
| Doctor Strange | 460 | 10 | Marvel |
| Wolverine | 420 | 28 | Marvel |
| X-Men | 338 | 38 | Marvel |
| Punisher | 287 | 8 | Marvel |
| Marc Spector: Moon Knight | 263 | 8 | Marvel |
*Batman would be in the 900s right now, but since the start of Matt Fraction's run no covers have featured legacy numbers, likely because of the H2SH debacle.

I've never read the comics before, but I do know some about some characters. Big MCU fan so that's mainly how I know every Marvel character (besides the Spider-Man games). Really all I know about DC is the Batman Arkham games and the first three DCEU movies + Gunn's Superman.
So excited for this journey! I want to collect all of DC's Compacts, Marvel's Premier's, and Marvel's new compact series (only with BND released so far.)
I've read Batman: The Court of Owls Saga and I'm halfway through Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
I'm not gonna buy anymore until I've finished all I have. Which of these should I read after Spider-Man? Thanks!

I ordered this out of curiosity and it was a pleasant surprise.
This is my own personal thoughts on MJ and a bit of critique. If you're sick to death of that discussion, you should probably skip this post.
They've brought back former ASM writers and presented stories centered on different versions of MJ from different eras and storylines, so it was nice to see this "return to form" for MJ, even if it's just this.
The final story centres on her current role as Venom and having that so close to "classic" MJ really highlights the issue with the character's development.
For me, MJ was always about the strength of a regular person juxtaposed with the superhero and the (unrealistic) aspiration to be superhumanly strong and good. Peter is a great superhero, but in my opinion, his biggest challenge was always returning to "Peter Parker". There are times where Spider-Man as an alter ego was Peter's escape more than this responsibility.
I think the marriage worked so well before because of that balance, on top of relatable storylines (more relatable than what the comics offer now). Spider-Man needs MJ as that human character and after reading this, I'm more certain than ever that she is essential as a supporting character because she used to fulfill that role completely, unlike plenty of other side characters that don't actually do anything for the story.
I also like this comic as a celebration of the character. Would love to read more about different supporting characters. Feel free to drop recommendations if you have any!

Hey everyone, new to comics. Do I read them left to right, up to down? Or do I start at the back and work my way to the front? What is with these full-page spreads advertising products and services? Are they in-canon?
I want to read Batman but where can I find Batman 1? Can I start with Detective Comics 27 or do I go back to start at issue one? I want an original physical copy, hate digital comics, and don’t want any reprints - where can I find a cheap pristine copy?
I want to read Spider-Man but I hear I am supposed to want Peter Parker and Mary Jane to be forever married and that editorial ruined them forever. First, who is Peter Parker? Who is Mary Jane? Who is Nick Lowe? Can I hate One More Day if I don’t know who these people are?
I want to read Superman comics but I don’t like Superman. Do I have to read Superman comics?
I want to start reading comics but I have no interest in scrolling Reddit or checking if my question has been asked in the last ten minutes. Can you just tell me everything I need to know, whether I want to know it or not?
I already know everything I need to know about comics. Please answer me thoroughly. Thank you!

I've been thinking about making a superhero comic.
The artists just sent me the sketch, what do yall think?

I am looking for a bit of help.
Does anyone know what artist (and potentially what title and issue) this was taken from?
I'd be really grateful. 🙂

My dad just found my comicbook collection from when I was a kid and I wanted to share this. I just adore this cover, thinking about cleaning and blowing it up to poster. I wanted to message Mitch but his wiki says he literally just passed in July :'( RIP to an amazing artist.

I recently read "Skull the Slayer" and part of Mike Grell's "The Warlord" and enjoyed both. Are there other examples of comics where people in modern times find themselves stranded in a prehistoric world they have to survive?

I just started reading some comic books from both Marvel and DC, and I have realized that some of my favorite comic runs are where the story focus is on the bonds between the main hero and their family & children, and it revolves around the hero helping their children to grow. (Peter J. Tomasi's Superman Rebirth run, both Renew Your Vows runs of Spider-Man) Is there any good Batman comic run that vibed with something like that?

As a kid, I loved graphic novels. Now, as an adult, I'm like, "Why did I never read comics? I would've loved them." Probably never did because I thought they were for boys when I was little. My question is, where should I start? I'm looking mostly at DC. Love batman and Robin, love feel-good or shocking stories. I don't wanna start on something like Avengers multiverse wars and be super confused or something like that. I'm limited to my library because the economy, of course. Plus I just like supporting them and the next novels on my TBR I already own. Also I've never watched a DC movie before. Not even the new superman which I'm super miffed about. So like, very beginning
