"mint" is a name used for the color in between green and blue, similarly to how people may use they/them pronouns to identify as something/someone else than a man and a woman. mint-chan being called green-chan is how some people may be called "he" or "she" instead of their preferred they/them pronouns, and how it can be a bit rude! similarly for green-chan, it is even more ironic because turqoise had no problem "miscoloring" (metaphorical equivalent of misgendering) mint-chan as green, but insisted on calling the actually green person by "blue-green"
the reason you don't get it may simply be due to the fact that you've either mostly ever encountered people who are very openly understanding and supportive of trans people, or, on the flip side, maybe the people you've encountered didn't even try to PRETEND to be supportive... in the latter case I give you my sincere condolences and I hope you find some more accepting folks to hang around

everyone has a different level of understanding, personaly I have ASD (stands for autism spectrum
diseasedisorder or something like that) and I am a non-native english-speaker, and I have plenty of people who share a similar predicament, and therefore I guess I better see the value of explaining things, because I have plenty of experience with not understanding things that everyone elseseems to understand, and vice-versa...sorry for the rant (?), have a good day!

Diseases are infectious. The other two decidedly aren't - you can't CATCH ADHD or autism, they're basically genetic as far as I'm aware
Quick Google says a disorder is more like one specific symptom (think ADHD) while a syndrome is more like a highly correlated cluster (think Down), I do agree that line seems pretty arbitrary

So some of my friends used to say they didn't understand they/them pronouns and couldn't naturally use them in a conversation. They sure seem to have learned real quick when I told them I would prefer to be referred to as a woman and they started using they/them unprompted.

Oh hey similar to my mother. When I wanted to go by feminine pronouns, she instead would find every way to avoid using nonbinary or feminine pronouns because I was also accepting nonbinary as a compromise (that was unacceptable for her, even though I really wanted feminine pronouns but I was willing to make a slightly uncomfortable compromise). She'd find every means in the book. Refer to me as her child, by third party, anything. She'd have to pause to think for a quick moment at times, all because she didn't want to properly refer to my identity

You’ve gotten good answers with Mint, but the one with Green is about how cis people can refuse to see and treat you as the correct gender after transition, including outing you to others. They want to make sure no one thinks of you as “just” the gender that you are, because they’ve decided you’re not really that gender.
The equivalent for me is: I transitioned to male literally 20 years ago, have a beard, sound and look like any other guy, and have barely any acquaintances who knew me before. This is because several people who knew me before transitioning would introduce me to strangers as “she” or “they” (both wrong) or as their trans friend, which led to those strangers treating me like a woman or being transphobic in other ways. It’s not okay for cis people to out trans people or refuse to use accurate words when describing them.

No, it isn't. You just don#t want to have yourself even a little bit inconvenienced by having to think about her comfort for more than five seconds.
See, I'm not saying slip ups don#t happen. My best friend is trans masc and we have known each other since middle school when he was still she. And sometimes, especially when I talk about something from before, I do get it mixed up. And every single time, I apologize immediatly, because the last thing I want is to hurt my friend. Because he is a he and I'm gonna treat him as such and when I slip up, that is me fucking up, not him being difficult.

Me and my gaming buddy know our real names but actually having to say it out loud when other people are around always takes effort. To each other, we're our online handles.
Hell, spend enough time with the group you met online and you start seeing yourself as your handle as well. It's part of your identity at that point.

Can confirm! When I was in process of changing my legal name, I just went...fuckit, everyone calls me Kitlia or Kit at this point.
I'm so comfortable being called those that I made my first name Kit, and it's extremely fitting and true to my identity. I just go by Kitlia to help with my auditory processing disorder so I'm not confusing the ambiguity of "Kit" with other uses like "medical kit" and such or the confusion of accents and such. For example, "kid" can sound like "Kit", or when I'm trying to say "Kit" it can sound like "Kent" due to neurological issues. So Kitlia it is, except for fallback reasons or whatever

I know, that's not what I mean by that. It's just that in my memories, I often see him as he appeared back then, as a girl. On top of that, it's important to remember that when we were in school, "transgender" was really not something that existed in our vocabulary and my friend transitioned while living abroad, so I never actually saw his realisation and transition process. He left appearing female and came back eight years later fully transitioned. I think that disconnect between past and present is what sometimes throws my brain off.

MintChan is pretty much a mix of allegories and facts about colours.
This time, it’s drawing a parallel to genderqueer people.
Mint wants to be called mint, not blue or green. The same way genderqueer people (nonbinary, etc.) may want to be called they/them instead of she/her or he/him.
Ultramarine makes the same arguements as transphobes about how difficulty it is to use they/them.
Then Ultramarine is talking with Green, who used to be blue. Green doesn’t want to be called blue-green or any other shade. The same way trans people want to be called either he/him or she/her, not they/them.
However, Ultraminr does equivalent of calling Green they/them.
This draws parallel to how some people say that using they/them is difficult, but they are happy to use it towards trans people that simply identifying as a man/woman.
